hi I'm Jackie Hill Perry and I'm going to break down some of the lyrics from my newest EP practice how you going to kill a body that's Godly and mummy wrapped two tank common denominator is resurrection for us you plaguing around the body that staff going to turn you to dust it's that time I hope you get that line yeah a lot of metaphors is there yeah how you going to kill a body that's Godly and mummy rap to tank common denominator is resurrection for us kind of just this idea that like when you're in Christ you know you have Resurrection Life and so even if you kill me you can't kill me um there's there's something there's a flex to that you know what I'm saying so it's like you can be bold you can be courageous you can com for Devils you can com for demons you can do whatever and if they kill you I mean I still got life so surprised um two common denominator really is a play on words to tank common is King Tut and so I mentioned mummies and now I'm mentioning King Tut but I connect that with the idea of two tank common denominator is resurrection for us and then pling around the body that staff W turn you to dust is n time is a reference to when uh God you know sent a plague to uh Egypt and one of the plagues was gats and how you know the plag ging around the body how the body is also metaphor for the Christian church church and so like the staff the staff could represent staff and churches who were protected the churches from evil people the staff also is the thing that Moses had that God dispens Miracles through so it's just a lot a lot of different keys and clues to all these types of things um and so I like that I said it's Nat time because people think I'm saying nap but I'm saying Nat and all the stuff and then I said I hope you get that line cuz I don't know if y'all did I wonder what Daddy would think of me if he was living and missing and flipping his grave W he had made it his business to hop on the wave be to float a parade would he get lost in his thoughts so he tossing his daughter she prayed the cross really paid the cross for his ways after the funeral body was laid after the funeral then I forgave just you know my dad died in 2008 and we did not have the greatest relationship he was a very inconsistent parent uh he would be in my life when he felt like it so he would be present for 6 months gone for two years present for a year gone for three I hope he knew Christ I don't know if he did uh and so I genuinely have prayed that um but there's also this sense that it was easier to forgive him when he left because it's hard to hold somebody accountable when they're not living anymore honestly and so I think I think if he was still here forgiveness would be harder for me and so I let a lot of stuff go when he when he went because yeah he's gone now or is the way to life maybe because we got a vice maybe because we got a Vibe when it's time to die every single night I don't got to get high all I got to do is swipe mind is a Busy Body Mind floating like a kite I'mma grab it from the sky I mean social media has been beautiful for many things and harmful for others which is when your mind is full of stuff that whether that's shame whether that's fear whether that's condemnation whatever social media can function as a distraction and so for me you know when my mind is going crazy I'm not going to get a blunt but I will be on Tik Tok for hours I'll be on Instagram for hours swiping as a way to distract myself from what my mind is saying and so yeah that's just me being honest Psalm 88 is a very sad Psalm it's a it literally ends with him saying darkness is my only friend um and a part of the darkness that I experience often is darkness that is internal and it relates to my mind like in in the way that my mind is a gift my ability to be articulate and introspective and um see things in Scripture that others might not have seen because I'm overthinking about the text that same mind when it turns in on me is a danger to me and so I'm basically communicating how like man like I just I don't like my mind sometimes and and what it what it does and drippers of Liberty freedom of speech Yes I'm a woman with freedom to preach p is a Quilla Priscilla is me we ain't the one but the one who begets is the one in three these CC's be wed for free these waning the binos be finding these sheets I'mma remind them that time is a common denominator lady day is a lease it's a great flow um so the drippers of Liberty freedom of speech a lot of this is word play I like to play with sounds um so some stuff don't it don't have to make sense I just like I sounded but drippers of Liberty is really like um I've had a lot of criticism about my style um at times and so it's really me saying like no like how I dress is a is a liberty if I want to wear a Dicky and hoodie and uh a beanie then that's what I want to wear my husband loves it the Lord ain't convicted me of it and so y'all can be mad at it um but that's connected with yes I'm a woman with freedom to preach p is Aquilla Priscilla is me when you read the New Testament you'll see Paul mention Priscilla and Aquilla often um they were leaders in the church in Ephesus and Priscilla and Aquilla you know they would teach they would communicate all the things as a couple and so to say p is a Quilla is to say Preston my husband is a Quilla Priscilla is me is to say that we as a unit are teaching are communicating our training um and so even to say that I'm a woman with the freedom to preach isn't to go against the theological idea of order in the church is simply to say that the Lord has given me the gift of teaching but I also do that alongside my husband and so I'm not usurping Authority if anything I'm communicating and walking in the same thing that many women in the early church walked in as well then I say we ain't the one but the one who begets is the one of the three just appealing to uh like we are one flesh me and Preston but we ain't the one like we ain't that tight you know what I'm saying like I think with our podcast stuff like that it's like we not we not the one but the one who begets is the one and the three meaning God is one God who exists in three co-equal person and so I'm just bringing some trinitarian Doctrine into a very ratchet sounding song and then CCS be W for free we know CC W is you know what I'm saying like y'all out here just complaining all the time and then W need the B be finding these sheets W need the B had a sermon that went viral before we used that word called uh no more sheets and so it was just about you know single women wanting to be under somebody's sheets and so I'm saying you know y'all be complaining and up she stuff like that and then yeah time is a common denominator lady day is aite so time is not something that we all have authority over um time has a limited like it's a lease it's been given to you for a certain season and that some point the lease will be up it's obvious to me that it's fraudulent to bargain in the temple this bars with instrumental is carving in the whips again it's fi day I'm cotton picking Nappy Headed dreaded brown skin it's genetic in my Circle only zealots don't do jealousy fraudulent a bargain in the temple I'm referencing when Jesus was in the temple and he was basically he got the whips and stuff and he pushed out the the sellers and kind of this sense of yeah it's just it's fake to to utilize the church to utilize Christianity to utilize Christian culture as a means by which to do the same thing that they was doing um and I think I think I live in an industry where that exists where there's a lot fraudulent Behavior going on in the Name of Christ and so I'm referencing that but then I connected with this bars with instrumental is carving into whips again so I just talked about how it's fraudulent to bargain in the temple and now I'm talking about carving in the whips again because Jesus had whips and then I connect the whips to its field day so now I'm referencing slavery where you know whips was a big part of the way they uh kept slaves in uh subjugation so it's field day I'm cotton picking nappy-headed dreaded so this scheme of slavery Blackness but also owning my blackness nappy-headed dreaded Brown skinn It's genetic in my circle only zealots and so I was just thinking about some of the friends that the Lord has given me recently and how uh excited and zealous they are for the truth and for godliness and for righteousness and how yeah I just I want people to be proud of being zealous I don't think that's something you should be ashamed of like you should you should never think it's strange to be happy that Christ is Lord like you shouldn't feel like you're doing too much if anything we're never doing enough and so what I'm saying like in my circle is only zealots no sloths and if we are slothful then our Zeal will push each other up uh back to where we need to be and then I go to say don't do jealousy that's like testing K to me jealousy is just an ugly thing and I don't want that in my circle either any me Mighty mo catch a tiger by the toe if he holler let it go if it's about a dollar I won't bother Dollar's got your Thro Call's about to choke dreaming big I'm about to cop the coat Joseph got the quote Papa Doc forgot the box the goat Eric got his F any many Mone up Mo is it just felt good to say it just wasn't even deep it just was it was just real playful you know it just it's it opens up the song in the way that just feels good um catch a tiger by the toe if he holler let it go if it's by the dollar won't bother dollars got your throat um it's just really like I just try to resist greed you know um I have a lot of opportunities by God's kindness to make a lot of money in places and I've often had to guard my own self um I've had to guard Myself by making sure that the pursuit is not money but faithfulness and so that means doing stuff for free or that means doing stuff at a lower rate than I often would or that means you know being hyper generous in ways that actually might cost me some stuff and so it's just like yeah if it's about a dollar I won't bother like the money is not the thing for me like there's even opportunities that might have profited me more influence and more finances that I've said no to because at the end of the day if it's not for the Lord I don't want to be there like a check ain't that serious and so then I said dollar got your throat coll is about to choke so kind of like uh when you hear about blue collars this idea of being a worker um how like some of our greediness is choking us out and so KY is about to choke dreaming big I'm about to cut the coat Joseph got the quote um I'm a woman with a big imagination and a lot of vision for a lot of things and so I'm just dreaming big as or like Joseph in Genesis who was a dreamer um and so that's why I said Joseph like got the quote I'm about to cop the coat because he was he had the code of Many Colors so I'm just playing with scripture cuz I think it's fun to have metap for and have double anandra that references scripture in such a way that makes you want to read that text and then I said Papa do forgot to box the goat this is just me playing with sounds Um Papa do is the person who was battling Eminem um and 8 Mile and so like I'm saying like Eminem is one of the greatest rappers to me and so but he he won like Papa do he just didn't box well so he lost that fight and ericus folk ericus was a location um a Marketplace location that Paul would teach in in Acts and so again I'm just playing with words but I'm also making references to scripture that make you go read the Bible in a way while also having some good vibes 1 two 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 how many sins can't keep count how many need this found ain't found him in a minute uh I ain't even a prodigal but the father going to have to give me I don't know what's s me don't need a mirror to get it seeing it up close um yeah one when I heard this beat a lot of times the the production is what evokes the Cadence and even the content and so when I heard the sound of the song it made me think about my own nature and the things that I struggle with um and so when I started the counting it's kind of this sense of it's a ironic thing that happens that The Closer you get to the Lord the clearer you see yourself and you see how much stuff you actually need to work through it's very much Isaiah 6 as Isaiah saw God he saw himself and he saw that he was a man of unclean lips which in our day having unclean lips seems minor but in the presence of God it was actually a big deal and so I think for me it's it's like I'm so aware of how broken I am um in this season and how needy I am of the Lord and so I said how many S I can't keep count it's so video um how many need this F ain't found him in a minute there's a Hy I I don't even know the title of it but it references Christ as a f and then I said ain't found him in a minute because in the same way that being close to the Lord reveals the the complexity of which you don't look like him it also can carry with it if you don't watch yourself shame you know what I'm saying where you start to distance yourself from the only one who could say from yourself out of fear out of like I don't know if you love me for real I don't know if your your resurrection power is actually available to Me Maybe everybody else maybe not me and so it's like there's this this wrestling with like I don't even know where you at like I I keep coming to you for freedom from this for power for this and I just have not found you U and I said I ain't even a prodigal meaning even though I'm struggling I ain't even ran yet like I haven't left you I hav't backslid I'm I'm not even walking in things that I see in myself and so it's like as the prodigal son you know when he came back to the Father the father ran to him and so I'm saying I'm not even a prodal but I need you to come for me like I need you I need you to run to me I need you to rescue me I need you to save me you saved me but I need you to save me again and so it's just me really being honest about where I am as a Christian and as a human uh that I just need the Lord to make me look like him in my heart more than any anything giv Exile and we proud with the chest out put the flex down feeling reptile send his Rex now uh what's te feel the shame where the loose leaf even Bruce Lee couldn't kick it with the group we stone cold all three stunt with the 16 I say give an exile we proud with the chest style put the flex down like Peter says that we as Christians are Exiles and so we have to live in a certain kind of way in light of our identity as foreigners in this place that we think is our home cuz it's not but I'm also saying like giving Exile put the flex down like we don't got room for Pride we don't got room to be puffing out our chest like the world is dying we are sinners in need of constant Grace and so we always need to be moving towards humility and so it's a very small sentence but it's simply to say humble yourself um and then I say put filling reptile s his rexs now uh was T so that's a metaphor so I'm basically saying like sin is reptilian obviously Genesis 3 When sin entered into the human condition it was in light of them believing the intimidation and the accusations and the words of a snake and so sin is Rex now talking about t uh tyur is Rex and that's why I say what's T and so T is also like a cultural thing to say like what's T what's the news what's what's the Insight what it is um and so I'm basically I disconnected T-Rex I kind of broke that metaphor for apart so that I could just play with words and after I say what's te feeling shame where's the loose leaf so now I'm not only just saying T-Rex now I'm referencing te as in tea as in the drink that we have so that's why I said loose leaf but that also references Genesis 3 again where after Adam and Eve sinned um the way they covered their shame was with loose leaves but people also drink loose leaf tea and so I'm just playing with stuff um and then I said even Bruce Lee couldn't kick it with the group we stone cold all three stunting with a 16 so again exploding metaphors so even Bruce Lee we know he was kicking all over the place K couldn't kick it with the group we so I'm not I'm not saying that my friend group is exclusive because that will be agavi but I am saying that my friend group holds scripture carry scripture that's why I say all three stunting with a 16 so John 3:16 but I'm also referencing if you notice Stone Cold Stone Cold 36 uh Stone Cold Steve Austin one of his uh famous saying was like he would always say Stone Cold 316 like he you know what I'm saying so I'm like I'm just like if you know wrestling from back in the day you also see that I'm not just talking about scripture I'm also talking about uh Stone Cold Ste Steve Austin so it was just a fun way to just play with words while also trying to minister to the people ((music playing)) oh ((music playing))
