Great day. Welcome to First Baptist Church of Glenn Arden International. And today is missions day. I am Anthony Jones, proud member here at the church. And listen, do me what we always ask you to do every week. Put in the chat where you are joining us from around the world.
And secondly, share this link with someone who needs to hear the word that the Lord has for them today. Now, third, would you welcome the most dynamic, prolific man, co-host in this church on this side of heaven, none other than my brother, Brother Colan. >> Good morning to you, good doctor.
[laughter] >> How you doing, man? >> I'm doing well. It's a beautiful day. And uh >> in the neighborhood. >> In the neighborhood. >> Uh I uh wanted to wish you a happy Women's History Month, first of all. >> And I just wanted to share that um there was a little black girl in Canapapolis, North Carolina by the name of Katie Cannon.
All right. Katie grew up in the Jim Crow South, learning biblical principles of Christianity from the women in her family, especially her grandmother. And so when she grew up and got to Union Theological Seminary, she was determined to change the fact that virtually all of the theological books at that time seem to suggest that the gospel was for everybody but black women.
And so she pinned a book entitled Black Womanist Ethics. In doing so, she introduced the field of Christian theology to black women. Last week, Pastor Jenkins, he preached a powerful sermon about how to both discover and live out your God-given purpose. In case you missed it, let's run it back.
((music playing)) Say you're so good. Say >> you're good. >> You're so good. >> Yeah. Come on, somebody. No weapon, no lie that they tell, no effort that they try to do, nothing. When God has a purpose and has an assignment for you, you can do what God has called you to do.
Stop. Oh no. Don't let what they say stop you from carrying out what God has for you. Say, "Oh no." Come on, somebody. Let's say, oh no. Let's make a song. Oh no. Oh no. I ain't coming down. Oh no, I ain't stopping. Oh no, I'm not going to get defeated.
Oh no, I'm not going to slow down. And I'm going to do what God anointed me to do, called me to do, gave me a passion to do, gave me provisions to do, gave me possibilities and opportunity to do. I ain't going to let no player hater stop me.
Oh no, >> man. Discovering and knowing your purpose. Pastor Jenkins preached a word on high last week. Listen, you need to hear that message in its entirety. Go to fbcglennard.org. org/memes messages and get that word. Brother Coen, listen, you you queued it up. You done, you done set us on fire with that.
And then pastor Pastor Le, he they teased us and to run it back, >> man. Listen, >> I mean, basically, he hit us with a very important question. Do you understand the assignment God has given us? Did you understand the assignment? >> Wow. Why I listen how >> when we understand the assignment >> is part it's tied into our purpose understanding why we were created. >> Yes.
You got that that that word was that's a two-piece that's a two-piece snack. Y'all >> the two-piece combo with a biscuit and some fries. >> Man, listen. >> All right. We got folks joining us domestically. Florida, New York, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Delaware, South Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, California, Alabama, Minnesota, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Connecticut, Washington, Tennessee.
I heard some brackets that got busted in there, but go ahead. >> Okay, [laughter] go ahead. Listen, we have our international family checking in from Barbados, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Panama, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Ireland. Family, continue to check in. We want to greet you, welcome you to this amazing service.
So listen, what are you excited about for the word today? >> You know, I think that I don't know. I I I just I think I think you never really know what's coming, you know, unless he's doing like a specific series, per se. But um I know that the word is going to be good, but not only the word, the worship. >> Absolutely. >> Um the the worship.
And so, uh I look forward to see what the min the music ministry has in store for us. My pick just dropped, but go ahead. So, listen. So we today we are celebrating our missions department here and we're excited about what the Lord is doing for you. We have a special guest in the post experience.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil. He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth and even forever more. Hallelujah. Let us pray. It's so good to see each one of you. Today is Missions Ministries Day. Oh, man. Amen. Amen. My name is Stanley Jones and I get the honor and a privilege to serve as a department head for the missions ministry department. One of the greatest things that uh God has blessed me with is to serve in this capacity.
And I want to honor our pastor today, Pastor John K. Jenkins, Senior, and our first lady and CMO, First Lady Trina Jenkins, for their amazing visionary leadership and for how they care for the most vulnerable, not only here in our community, but around the world. We thank God that in the missions department, we get to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.
So, take a look at at this video. Every heart beats for something. At the heart of the church is the heart of Christ. And his heart beats with a simple calling. Love God, love people, be disciples, and make disciples. Mission ministry is where faith moves from belief to action. where following Jesus shapes how we live, serve, and love.
This is not about programs. It's about people being formed as disciples and inviting others to follow Christ through churchwide outreach collaborations, ministries, small groups, and mission teams coming together to serve our community in powerful ways. From MLK Day of Service to the season of giving, from Thanksgiving outreach to the FBCG day of service, our church family joins hands with community partners to meet real needs and reflect the love of Christ.
My name is Kenneth Dixon and I am a member of the senior group here at First Baptist Church International. I've been involved in the missions ((music playing)) ministry probably uh more directly for the last 5 years. We are involved with uh the MLK day of service. We have served many times where we've come in and um pack the um boxes of blessings that can go overseas around the world and bless ((music playing)) other people.
So I think that has a great impact um in developing disciples that we may never see or may never meet but you know we are representing the hands and feet of God. ((music playing)) >> Local missions remind us that disciplehip begins right where we are. Through prison ministry, we bring the message of redemption.
Through women in need ministry, we walk with women toward healing and restoration. Through hope ministry, we serve seniors with care and dignity. And through feed the community, we meet physical needs while sharing the love of Christ. These ministries are not just acts of service. They are moments when lives are restored and disciples ((music playing)) are made. >> The redeemed and restored ministry has definitely changed my life.
I come from being incarcerated and I also come to First Baptist about 14 years ((music playing)) ago. So, the redeeming and restored program has opened my mind to be able to talk about my testimony. Also try to help the next young man for not throwing his life away like I almost did. >> But the mission doesn't stop at our church or even our community.
Through mobilized ministry, disciples are sent out to serve both nationally and internationally. Mission teams step up in faith to share the gospel. serve communities and partner with ministries around the world. >> My name is Happy Boy, pastor of Fontton Church in Kyla with the help of Oat Africa and First Baptist Church of Glen Aden.
Our church receive food every month so that we are able to run our feeding program. We receive also the toad or curriculum for our preschool ((music playing)) and also ongoing training so that we are able to care for the vulnerable. Our community faces various challenges such as unemployment, food insecurity and also limited access to opportunities and with your support we are able to address these challenges.
Thank you so much for supporting what God is doing in this community and in this church. God bless you. >> This is the heartbeat of our church. Loving God, loving people, being disciples and making disciples. Amen. Amen. We're again, we're just so grateful um ((music playing)) to do this work.
It's an amazing work to serve people. And we could not do this without the members and the leaders in our department to to do this every week. And [snorts] we could not do it without our department heads, our directors, our staff, Shabbach ministries, and all of you volunteers that give of your time and your energy and your resources so that we can make an impact in the world.
[snorts] So we thank you and we honor you today. And so if you want to learn more about the work that we do in our ministry, you can scan the QR code or you can stop by one of our tables in the Narthx. We would love to work with you and partner with you as we do this great work for the kingdom.
God bless you. Thank you. >> Amen. Praise God. Hallelujah. Keep clapping for the missions that God is using to go in the states and outside of the states. Hallelujah. Thank you so much for all that you do for the kingdom of God. Now guys, it is now time for our tithes and offerings.
Hallelujah. The word of God says that the Lord loves a cheerful giver and we just thank you for being those cheerful givers. You guys saw the announcements on some of the things that are taking place here. We have the productions. You know that that takes money. We thank you for your giving because the only way we could do that is because of you.
And then you just heard uh Deacon Stanley Jones talking about missions. It takes money to meet needs. It takes money to feed others. And because of your faithful giving, we are able to do that. So give yourselves a round of hand and give God glory that he provides you resources.
((music playing)) Hallelujah. To give back to the kingdom of God. Amen. Amen. So there are several ways that you can give. You can give by giving online at fbcglennon.org/give. You can also make out a check and or cash and put it in one of the giving boxes or you can mail it over to the ministry center at 3600 Bright Seat Road.
Amen. So, let us go ahead and pray. So, Father God, in the name of Jesus, we just thank you. Hallelujah. for being our source, God. Lord, that we have resources that we can give back to the kingdom of God. Lord, we just thank you, oh God, Lord, for what you're doing in this ministry.
We ask, oh God, Lord, that you would continue to bless, God, every seed that comes into this place. We thank you, Lord, for rebuking the hand of the devourer in the lives of your people. So, we just love you and we praise you in Jesus' name. Amen. >> ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> God is great and he's great.
He ((music playing)) gradu. He graduates. ((music playing)) [singing] ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) He's praising ((music playing)) ((music playing)) my great ((music playing)) beauty. ((music playing)) [singing] ((music playing)) to be great. >> God is great. >> He is great. >> God ((music playing)) is great to be praised. [singing] ((music playing)) >> He's great. >> And he's great to be praised. >> He's the one who sits on the throne. >> And he's great to be [music and singing] praised.
He's powerful. He's omnipotent. >> And ((music playing)) he's great. need to be. [singing] >> He shall reign. ((music playing)) >> He will never change. He's God. He's all ((music playing)) great. [singing] He's great. >> God is great. He's great. God is great. God is [music and singing] great. I wait to be praised. >> We will bless the Lord at all times.
((music playing)) His praise shall continually be in our mouth. Come on in the fellowship. Join the fellowship in worshiping God. Hallelujah. ((music playing)) Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. [singing] >> Hallelujah. Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. ((music playing)) Hallelujah. is great. >> Hallelujah. ((music playing)) >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> It's the highest praise. [singing] Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. ((music playing)) >> He praise.
He is ((music playing)) merciful. >> He's merciful. >> Wonderful. >> Wonderful. He's covered. [music and singing] ((music playing)) He is >> He [singing] is merciful. ((music playing)) >> He's wonderful. >> He's wonderful. >> Wonderful. He's marvelous. >> [singing] >> and be ((music playing)) greatly forever and ever ((music playing)) forever and ever. >> Forever and ever praise ((music playing)) and he's reigning to be praised ((music playing)) forever and ever, >> forever and ever, >> forever and ever.
Oh, he is great. ((music playing)) >> How many of you think of the goodness of Jesus? >> And all he's done and ((music playing)) all. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. ((music playing)) The goodness of the goodness of Jesus. >> ((music playing)) >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. ((music playing)) We [singing] pray. Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah.
Hallelujah. ((music playing)) Hallelujah. He's hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. ((music playing)) >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) [singing] >> ((music playing)) >> We serve a mighty God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Praise be to God. Hallelujah. It is now time for the word of God. So, if you're able to stand, go ahead, stand to your feet.
And as you're praising God, just go ahead and welcome and greet our pastor, Pastor John K. Jenkins, Senior. Amen. >> ((music playing)) >> Good morning. >> While you're standing, let's again celebrate our missions department. Tremendous. I like uh the way the video put it that you are the hands and feet, the way you put it.
You're the hand and feet of the church and you all are doing an amazing job >> and we're proud of you. >> Look at the person next to you. Eyeball to eyeball. Look at them and say, "What's your greatest prayer need?" Ask them what their greatest prayer need is.
All right, now that you got it, go ahead. Let's pray. Let's begin to pray for each other. Pray for the person who you just found out what their need is. Go ahead, open your mouth and pray to the Lord. Let's cry out. Let's make a an audience of worship to God and pray for the person who's just shared their greatest need with you in Jesus' name.
((music playing)) Thank you, Lord. >> ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) Hallelujah. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Hallelujah. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> Father, we thank you for waking us up this morning and keeping us even though we were laid in the very image of death. But Father, you woke us up this morning and we say thank you. Thank you for bringing us here safely.
Thank you for giving us a mind to be in the house of prayer. Thank you for keeping us all week long. God, we give you praise and thanks. ((music playing)) We pause now and we pray for each other. We pray for the need of my brother, my sister. Pray that whatever their greatest need is, you work a miracle in their life.
You would fight a battle. You would answer their prayer. you would bring deliverance in Jesus' name. ((music playing)) While we are praying for them, we're praying for our unsaved family and friends and relatives and neighbors and co-workers. We're interceding, Father, and asking you to work a miracle. ((music playing)) Open their eyes to their need for you in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Now, anoint us to be your mouthpiece for these next few moments. Almighty God, we pray in Jesus name that somebody will get saved today. Somebody reclaim Somebody restore. We're praying right now you draw somebody that's disconnected. Put a hedge around this place. ((music playing)) Bind every distracting spirit, not only here, but at every location in all ((music playing)) the states and countries that are participating in this worship experience.
Let your name get all of the glory and honor in Jesus' name. Amen. [singing] And amen. God bless you. ((music playing)) You can be seated. >> Amen. Glory to God. >> Open your Bibles to Matthew chapter 24. And uh I want to talk about the mission of the gospel. >> All right. >> If I would put a title on this, that's what it's going to be called.
The mission of the gospel. Um, in chapter 24 of Matthew, as we get to the end of Matthew, Jesus talks about end times. >> I don't know whether you know it or not, or whether you believe it or not, but we are in the end times. >> Some of y'all think y'all got time.
Let me let me set the record straight. >> You don't have as much time as you think you have. >> You will not go to hell from First Baptist Church of Glenn Arden. Wait, wait, wait, wait till I finish. Y'all are clapping. You don't know what I'm about to say.
I want you to clap when you hear what I say. You won't go to hell from First Baptist Church if they're not saying that I didn't tell you. >> You can keep on making excuses and make keep on >> thinking you got time and you gonna get it together as soon as this happens.
As soon as that happens, you're gonna get saved. Soon as this happened, you gonna serve. As soon as this happened, you going to get rededicated as soon as this change, as soon as that changes. That's the very posture that the enemy wants you to be in. >> He wants you to stay in a posture of disobedience to God and in sin.
That's what he wants you to do. So that you you won't be in a right place. You would have not made the right choice. You would have not have committed. you would have not have surrendered and die in the condition that you're in and open up your eyes in hell.
You won't be able to say, "Pastor Jenkins didn't tell you." >> Now, it's not it's true that not all churches are preaching the gospel. >> Come on now. >> But let's be clear. We is >> preaching the gospel here. >> That's right. Now, in chapter 24, and it goes on through chapter 25, but I want I just want to talk about the first 14 verses of chapter 24.
Jesus is talking to the disciples, but he's actually talking to us today through what he says. Now, here what he said. Verse verse one, chapter 24. Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple. And his disciples came up to show him the building of the temple. And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things?
Assuredly I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another that shall not be thrown down." Now verse three, as he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, listen to this, tell us when will these things be and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?
They asked two questions. This is and these are very important questions that they ask these two questions. He says, "What what's the sign of your coming? We we understand you're coming back, but how will we know when we reach that period in that point? >> And what will be the when what what's the signs of the end of the age?
And Jesus answered and said to them, take heed that no one deceives you. Verse five, here's the sign. For many will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and will deceive many. Stick a pen right there. Pause. You know what's the end time? You know, we're approaching the end times because there are people going around saying they are the Christ. >> Now, I did some research on all of the people who say they the Christ and it's more names than I can tell you. >> People all over talking about they Jesus. >> Look at your neighbor say you ain't him.
Go ahead, tell them you ain't him. All right. >> I grew up studying church. I've live my whole life has been in church. And so many so-called Christ, Father Divine, Daddy Grace, Suny Young, Suny Young Moon. >> That's right. >> Y'all know who that is. >> And we could go on and on with the many.
Uh David Caresh. Y'all know who David Caresh is? I mean we can go on all these names here in our in our lifetime >> who are declaring that they've come Sun Young Moon said he came to finish the work that Jesus didn't get did Jesus didn't finish. >> I want to punch that joker in his face.
That's right. >> I heard Jesus say, "It is finished on the cross. It's the everything that needs to be done for our salvation to be secured, for us to fulfill the assignment that God has given to us, for us to be everything God wants us to be." He said, "It's all done.
It's over. It's finished. I've completed everything I needed to do." Yes, >> we certainly didn't need somebody else to come along and say >> he came to finish it. That's verse five. And you and verse six, and you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. >> See that you are not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Yes, >> sir. Do you know we got wars and rumors of wars and nations fighting against nations and kingdoms against kingdom? That's what he says right here. Verse 7. For nation, verse 7, will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilence, and earthquakes in various places. >> That's right. >> I did some research on the earthquakes.
And here we are in Mar and already in March of this year, there have been over 25 major earthquakes around the world. You don't you don't hear about them, but they are around the world. Earthquakes happening and and pestilence and and disease and famines. All of verse eight, all these are the beginning of sorrows.
Listen here. [clears throat] Don't get stressed out when you hear all of the bad stuff that's happened around the world cuz Jesus already prepared us and told us it was going to happen. >> I know some of y'all are stressed out. You can't sleep at night and you so worried about this and that.
This ain't our home. >> We not staying here. Now, you might be staying here, but I ain't staying here one of these morning. I'm going to mount up on some wings. One, I believe one day I'm going to be caught up to be with him. I believe. Amen.
I got another home not made by the hands of man. Eternal. It's Hallelujah. I wish I had a praying crowd with me here today. Anybody here other than me believe that God has prepared another place for us. I heard him say, "In my father's house are many mansions."
He said, "If that wasn't the case, I would have told you so." But then he said this, "I'm going to prepare a place for you that where I am, there you may be also." I wish I had some people who know this. I ain't worried about what's happening down here.
This is not my home. I'm not stressed out about that >> worried about >> nobody or nothing. >> Okay, let me let me keep going. >> All of verse eight, all these are the beginning sorrows. Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. >> Now some of y'all don't you I've been talking a little bit about this but I'm I got to try to prepare you all to understand that when you take a stand for Jesus >> tell it >> and you take a posture or a position >> tell it >> you have to be clear that everybody is not going to celebrate you. >> Thank you sir.
I recently got an email from somebody who complained that um I was taking political sides that I that I'm preaching politics. And this is what I got to help people understand. >> I don't preach politics. I preach morals. >> I preach the gospel. And when you preach the gospel, you will have to take a moral side. >> That's it, pastor.
That's it. >> And I will never stop preaching the gospel. I will never stop preaching what's right. I will never stop preaching. I don't care which side of the political coin it falls on. You ain't going to stop me from talking about it. >> The difference is you don't know what morals are.
But that's what the difference is. >> You can't silence the the Bible speaks to morality. Can you y'all hear what I'm saying to you today? >> Hate me, quit me. >> Do whatever. >> That's right. >> Whatever. >> If ain't nobody in here but me preaching for myself, >> I'll be right here preaching to me.
So yeah, I'm I'm going to take a I'm I'm going to take a stand. Amen. And let the chips fall where they may. >> Now, I don't know if I should tell y'all this, but I'm going to tell you. or uh the state of Maryland last year passed it might have been before last year but they passed the law and the law says that basically religious institutions or people can't make a decision or hire on hiring people based on what your beliefs are.
So what it boils down to is for us as a church, it boils down to uh that we can't put criteria in our job descriptions that people have to meet unless it agrees with what the state declares. Wow. >> I should have got more amens than that, but it's okay. >> So, um, we have in our in our job descriptions, if you want to be hired by the First Baptist Church, Glenn Arden, the very first requirement is you have to believe in Jesus. >> That's right. >> Hello.
Amen. >> Yeah. You have to be a believer. >> Amen. >> Amen. >> You can't work for us and you don't even believe in Jesus. >> That's right. >> That's right. Amen. >> And if I ever found out that somebody was working for us and they didn't believe in Jesus, >> bye. >> You can't work here. >> This is a church.
We We preach Jesus. We >> teach Jesus. We walk Jesus. We declare Jesus. We believe Jesus. We worship Jesus. We celebrate Jesus. We honor Jesus. We uplift Jesus. We declare Jesus. >> So we we is going to fight that law. That's right. >> The claps are getting lower and lower.
It's okay. Okay, let me let me get back to this. But we will be delivered up to tribulations and be hated by all nations. Verse N. And then many will be offended. We'll betray one another and we'll hate one another. Boy, if we don't live in a council culture right now, >> unfollow they're unfollowing you cuz they don't like what you stand for.
Then verse 11, then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. >> And becau and because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. Amen. >> But he who endures to the end, >> he who sticks it out, >> he who hangs in there, >> he who continues to believe even though they've been rejected and even though they've been talked about, he who endures to the end shall >> be saved.
I'm wondering how many people's willing to stick with us till the end. Even though they counel you, unfollow you, even though they reject you and lie on you and terminate you, no matter what they do, I wonder, do I have enough people sold to Jesus Christ and committed to the Lord to say, "I'm still here.
I'm still worshiping. I'm still obeying. I'm still thanking him. I still believe. >> Now, I did all of this to get to verse 14. >> I want to talk about verse 14. >> I know I talked about verse 1 through 13. >> But it's verse 14 that I want to hang the rest of my time.
The my final 15 minutes. >> I got five points that I got to make in 15 minutes. I spent too time get I spent too much time getting some stuff off my chest. >> You can do it. >> Lean over to your neighbor. Say we might be going into overtime today. >> Verse 14 says, "And this gospel." >> And this >> I like that right there.
He said, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations and then the end will come." >> We getting close to the end, y'all. >> Jesus is coming back. >> Amen. We getting close to the end. Somebody look at your neighbor, say, "We getting there."
And it is in verse 14 that God spells out what our responsibility is. And he says, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached." Stop. Stick a pen right there. That's my first point is what we are supposed to do is what the what what what's our what's what's our mission? >> To preach the gospel. >> There's power in the gospel.
Lives get changed in the gospel. Shackles come off of people with the gospel. People get transformed. Marriages get healed. Children and parents get reconciled. >> Drug addicts come off of their addictions. Y'all ain't hearing with me. Prostitutes stop walking the streets. >> Thieves stop stealing when you hear the gospel. >> There's power in that gospel.
You know what? Thanks be to God that we we don't have to uh pay no uh uh indulgences. We don't we can't pay our way out of this thing. We we don't get changed because of what we pay. We don't get changed because of what we do. We don't get changed and transformed and shackles broken off of us because of what we do.
We We get changed. Our lives get transformed because Jesus Christ died on the cross and paid the price for our sins. Somebody give God a shout and say, "Because of what I believe." >> That's what changes us. Because of what I believe. >> Amen. It's putting our faith in his death on the cross.
And I That's what That's what this is telling us. We are to preach the gospel. That's what we have a responsibility to do, to preach the gospel. to tell our family and friends and relatives and acquaintances and neighbors and co-workers, our enemies and our strangers and people who like us and people who don't like us and people who want to be with us and people who don't want to be with us.
People who appreciate it and don't appreciate it. We have a responsibility to tell them about Jesus. >> He died on the cross, wounded for my transgressions, bruised for my iniquity. He hung on the cross. And we ought to tell people, you can't get to heaven by what you do.
We get there by what he did. >> And there's no other message that transforms people. >> People don't get transformed because of positive thinking. Your lives are transformed when you believe that Jesus Christ paid the price >> on the cross for your sins. And we are we have an assignment from God.
That's what we're to do. To preach the gospel >> to make the declarations to people that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Yes. >> Look, >> when I was growing up in church, they used to teach that you couldn't be saved unless you got baptized. >> That's what they used to teach.
Baptism was essential to salvation. But that is not what the Bible teaches. >> We We get baptized not to get saved, >> but because we are saved. It's the first act of obedience. We've accepted the Lord and we received him. And because we have accepted him and believe in him and embraced him, we demonstrate that >> by obeying his command to be baptized. >> But it's not the baptism that saves us. >> It's our faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
Amen. >> Amen. >> Thank you, Lord. >> Thank you. >> That's number one. That's our assignment. And the scripture says it's going to He said, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached." And then he tells us, "Point to where?" >> Come on. Y'all are going ahead and interpreting the scriptures.
I haven't got there yet >> in the world. >> In all the world. And one of the things I'm so proud of, especially with our mission, these these people over here. I'm going to talk about Tanya for a minute. This Tanya right here, I love Tanya. Stand up right here for just a minute.
Tanya Martin is one of our first missionaries. Let let me tell you what she did. She sacrificed the comforts of living in America to go to a foreign country and love on people and make that the devotion of her life. >> Isn't that what you did, girl? Yes, you did.
Thank you. Wait, look around. They ain't going to give up their cars and they ain't giving up their houses and they not giving up their bank accounts. >> We're going to pray that maybe God might raise up some more Tanyas in the First Baptist Church. >> Y'all hear what I'm saying to you today? >> She She made a sacrifice to go into the world. >> Where'd you go?
Ukraine. >> When the Ukraine Yeah. You went to Ukraine, the place they bombing right now. >> The Ukraine. >> That's That Y'all don't clap cuz y'all ain't going. Y'all ain't going. >> Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead. Clap for her. >> But you know what I'm doing? I'm praying that God raises up some more people who are willing to sacrifice the comforts of their life to be able to take the gospel into the world.
There are still places in this world that have not heard about Jesus. And she's one of the few in our church who have gone. >> And I celebrate her. Somebody say, "Amen." We gone to Guyana. Guyana. >> My first missions trip was to Guyana, South America. I experienced some stuff I never experienced before.
Like an outhouse. Come on, holler back at me. I know. Hey, look. >> A outouse. I didn't know what an outhouse was. >> Is there anybody who ever been in use our house? Let me see. Y'all lying. Y'all better stop lying. All of y'all ain't been in no out house.
I don't believe y'all. Y'all lying people. >> Rebustle. I was in the out house. >> I've been there. >> You know, I I went to Guyana and when I said I had to, they say I had to go to the outhouse. I said I will hold it till I get back to America. >> It happens like that sometimes.
But there comes a time that mother nature says, "Oh no, you ain't." >> Wow. >> And I was in the outhouse trying to hurry up and get out of there as soon as I could. And through the cracks of the door, I saw a lizard coming this way.
((cheering)) Oh, God is a deliverer. God is a deliverer. And what do you do when you see the lizard coming your way and you ain't done yet? What do you do? I knocked on the door. I said, "There's somebody in here. She turned away. Thank God. I shouldn't have told y'all cuz I'm trying to get I'm trying to get people to be willing to go to other parts of the world.
And I I'm sure that story doesn't help. [snorts] >> But God will make a way for you. >> Let me go on. My third point is this. It says, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world." And here's point three. Has a witness. And and why why why would I make the sacrifice?
Why would people sacrifice the comforts of living in America to go to a another country to be a witness? I know that may not be motivating to some of y'all, but there are great rewards in being a faithful witness. >> And we're called to be a witness to the truth, to the gospel.
We're we're to take the gospel to the world and tell people that we what we're telling you about Jesus is true. >> It's true that Jesus came and died on the cross. And you and somebody say, "Well, well, you weren't there. You you wasn't alive when Jesus came.
How do you know it's true? Here's how I know it's true. And here's why I can be a witness. Because when I put my faith in him, he changed my life. He took a little black kid from a little town called Glenn Arden who who used to wonder what was on the other side of the hill from where I lived and took this little black kid and changed my life. suicidal as I was, depressed as I was, struggling as I was, and gave me hope and gave me life and gave me purpose and gave me an assignment and anointed me and used me to impact the world.
If he could take a little black kid from Glenn Art, never heard of Glenn Arden, never knew what a Glenn Arden was, some of y'all, but thanks be to God, we now have a worldwide reputation. Amen. >> And I never cease to get amazed at the people who come to me and tell me, "Somebody came this morning.
Where where is that guy and your two kids, your two sons? Where you at? Where is you? Where is that guy just came to me this morning? Where are you at? Where where stand up. Where that just came to me just now or this morning before service? Did he leave?
Did he leave?" Yeah. Stand up right there. And there's two boys right there. They they this first time here. There they are right here. I'm sorry. I don't mean to put you on blast. And they said to me said, "You helped us when we were in the pandemic and we start watching you and we start observing you and we got help because of you and because of what you did."
When we came down here for another reason, we said we got to make our way to the First Baptist Church of Illinois. Amen. Hallelujah. Gy. >> If God could take little on me and do something like that with me, what can he do with you? ((music playing)) Glor. >> I love being a witness >> for Jesus. >> That's why we do it. >> We are a witness to his power.
And there's somebody here today that your life is jacked up. Your life is tore up from the floor up. You messed up. >> But I can be a witness that if Jesus could change my life and give me purpose and give me an assignment, he the same thing for you. >> Okay, let me hurry up.
I'm Y'all know I can't take my time. Why you saying that? Yes. >> Be a witness to all generations. And then the scripture says, "And then the end will come." >> So the so so so my my fourth point here is when are we to do this? We when when are we to be a witness?
When are we to share the gospel? When are we to pick up that assignment? We're to do it until the end comes. >> Amen. We are to do it until this life here is over. >> Somebody say, "Till the end comes." >> Look at your neighbor. Say, "You still got time." >> Look, look them right in the eye.
Eyeball to eyeball. You got time to participate. You got time to do it. You got time to be a an an instrument of God to make a difference in somebody's life. And here's my fifth and final point, and it's not in the text, but I believe the angels will say amen.
And here's my final W. Is to who? >> Who? Who is the who? >> It's you. >> The who is you. This is what you're called to do. >> Go ahead, look at your neighbor. Tell them you. >> Stop leaving it to other people. >> It's depress. >> It's you. >> Amen. >> You and I are called to make a difference. >> I know the devil's telling you, "But you ain't got it all together."
No, you don't. But it's okay. The power ain't in you. >> It's not your power. >> It's the power of the Christ that lives inside of you. Amen. >> So, I close this message by saluting the missions department for being the who. >> Thank you. >> Thank y'all for feeding the hungry.
Thank you for for providing clothes to the naked. Thank you for traveling the world. Thank you for going into broke, poor communities and giving them the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you for sacrificing >> the comforts of your life to go and take the gospel >> to the least of these. >> Matter of fact, Jesus said, "When you've done it to the least of these, you've done it unto me." >> Amen. >> I'm finished.
Father, I thank you that you still in the business of delivering broken, bruised people. And I pray now in Jesus name that you inspire people to do something with their life other than look out for themselves but to take the gospel to the world. I pray that if there's persons here right now, and I know they are, or persons watching online around the world who don't know Jesus [snorts] as their personal savior, that you would draw them, almighty God, in Jesus' name, to say yes to you, to place their faith in the Lord Jesus.
Draw them, Father, in Jesus' name. And everybody said amen. Ask the person next to you, "Are you saved? Are you walking with God? Are you in fellowship with the Father?" Ask them, "Are you born again? Are you do you have a church home? Are you walking in harmony with God?"
If not, say, "Come on, let me walk with you. Come on and say yes to the Lord." I'm giving the invitation right now for somebody to humble themselves, swallow their pride, and bring ((music playing)) come to the Lord right now and say yes to Jesus. unsaved comes. Accept Jesus. Believe he died on the cross for your sins.
Or maybe you're backslid. You need to rededicate yourself to God. Right now is the ((music playing)) moment in time to come. Or maybe you're unsure of your eternal status. Come on and get it ((music playing)) straight with God. Don't be ashamed. We're going to shout and give God the glory. The moment that you step out and come, we're going to celebrate you.
If you if you are unsure, come. If you are don't have a church home, this is the time to come. is here is a good church for you to be a part of. Come right now. Come ((music playing)) on to you. Oh my [singing and music] sister. He will [singing] give you brand ((music playing)) new life. to life.
[singing] Oh ((music playing)) go ((music playing)) to Christ. [music and singing] >> We offer Christ to you. >> Offer [singing] Christ. >> I know there's somebody else today. Don't let the enemy hold you back. Don't let that devil keep you in your seat. Tomorrow is not promised. What you have is this moment right here, right now.
And I invite you to come and say yes to God. He will give you [singing] great ((music playing)) life abund. [singing] ((music playing)) [singing] ((music playing)) >> Amen. Father, I thank you for this precious young lady. I pray that ((music playing)) you plant her in your vineyard, fill her with your spirit, and accomplish the will you have for her life ((music playing)) in Jesus name.
Amen. Thank you. >> Now, I know there's somebody else that should have been down here today, but I'll be down here for a few moments if you ((music playing)) want to come on and say, "You know what? I should have come, but I didn't. We'll take you. We still You still got time." >> Amen.
Don't let the devil win completely. He He won by keeping you in your seat right now, but you still have an opportunity to say, "You know what? I want to get right with God. I want to get saved. I want to rededicate. Or I want to join First Baptist Church.
((music playing)) I'm going to pray that God will convict you and you will respond to him. Y'all have a great day. Oh, we have communion tonight at 6:30. >> God bless you. Have a great day. ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> family. We had just heard an amazing word from our pastor. You can't get to heaven by what you do.
You can only get to heaven by what Christ did for us. There is still time for you to give your life to Christ. There is an email that is being placed in the lower third. There is a phone number that you can call. Reach out to us. Our counselors are standing by waiting to help you in getting your life together with Christ today.
Now family, today is missions day and we're celebrating our missions department. And so I have a special guest here. Well, my brother and my sister in Christ, none other than the department head, Deacon Stanley Jones, and his lovely wife, Deaconess Omega Jones. Welcome, sir. >> Thank you, sir.
It's an honor to be here with you, my brother. Yes, sir. My brother. My [laughter] brother. >> We go way back. >> We go way back. We go way back. >> Oh, yes. Thank you for um having us today. And we're just so grateful to God that he is using us in the kingdom. >> Absolutely.
Listen, missions is the is the hand and the heartbeat of this church. Talk to us about what the missions department is doing and the impact that you're having around the world. >> Uh yeah, you you said it right. It is the heartbeat of our church, heartbeat of pastor, heartbeat of first lady and the amazing things we get to do.
And I'll just try to be very short. Um I'm very we're very passionate about this work. This is the assignment that God has placed on our lives at this moment in time. And when we're able to go out and, you know, feed the hungry, when we're able to go and serve our seniors in our community when we're able to go and serve women that are in crisis at shelters and transitional housing, when we're able to go into prisons and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and then have those that are incarcerated get out and want to be redeemed and restored.
I mean, that's that's what the gospel calls us to do. >> Amen. And then to go to the uttermost ends of the earth, uh, taking teams and sharing the love of Christ and building communities, helping leaders become all that God wants them to be. >> Amen. >> Praise God that God can use us. >> Amen. >> To be his hands and feet. >> Amen. >> It has been a blessing. >> Amen.
How how can how can we be a part of the missions department? We have members all around the world and particularly our online global community. How can they help join in this work in the mission field and have impact around the world? >> So, I'll talk a little bit about that.
Um, as the um ministry coordinator and the missions department, what we've tried to do is set uh set up collaborations like the MLK Day of Service and the um FBCG day of service. And that way um we bring um ministries from uh all over the church as well as uh people that are not a part of the church who can participate in um giving back to the community and abroad.
Uh so that's one of the ways that you you can get involved and you can get involved whether you're here there or far everywhere. >> Amazing. Amazing. We're so happy about >> my beautiful wife. I just had to say that. >> Absolutely. Celebrate your That's right. celebrate my bride. >> That's right.
That's right. How can he get in contact with uh the missions department to get more information about becoming a part of this amazing ministry? >> I mean, that's a great question. Um, today there was a QR code you could have scanned it. You didn't get that early, but if not, you can just go directly to our website fbcglennard.org, or click on community, click on serve or go to department, click on missions department and you'll be able to see all of the mrazing things that we do in our ministry and also our opportunities where you can serve or go on a missions trip.
That's where you can go and uh again we're just grateful that God can use us as pastor talked about say earlier he said to use a a guy like him from a little old town in Glenn Arden. We feel the same way that God can use us. >> Amen. to do this work and be his hands and feet. >> We're so excited.
