Young Adult Sunday. [screaming] We are so excited, and to our online guest worshipers, we welcome you. Please let us know in the chat where you are worshipping from. We have online chat hosts ready to greet you. Family, it's time for scripture. Amen. Will you turn with me to Psalm 145 verses 17 through 21.

When you have it, say, "Amen." That was fast. All right. The scripture reads, "The Lord is righteous in all his ways. Gracious in all his works. The Lord is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him.

He will also hear their cry and save them. The Lord preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh shall bless his holy name forever and ever. The word of the Lord is already blessed.

Let us pray, family. Heavenly Father, we ask that you please come and rest upon this place, Lord ((music playing)) Jesus. As we celebrate this week, Lord God, in remembrance of what you did for us on the cross, God, we [snorts] acknowledge that it is nothing of our own works, but it is only because of your blood that we are made righteous, Lord God.

Watch over this service, Lord Jesus. We have a plan, but Lord God, you are so wise. And your plans are always better, Lord Jesus. May the word be preached today in truth and in humility, Lord God. May people come to salvation. May people rejoin your church, Lord God.

May people be healed and set free. We bless your holy name forever and ever. In Jesus' name, we say, "Amen." Amen, family. Now, we have come to a special part of our service where we want to welcome our guests here. If you are worshipping with us for the first time, um on in behalf of our senior pastor, John K.

Amen. Let's pray over the offering. Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have given us resources to bless those in need, Lord Jesus. We thank you so much that we get to give back to you, Lord God. We ask that you posture our hearts >> ((music playing)) >> so that we can give to you joyfully, gleefully, Lord God, and in humility.

We love you and we just ask that when we give, it is given right back to us pressed down, shaken together, and running over, Lord Jesus. We love you and we bless you, and in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Come on, is anybody glad that they're saved? >> ((music playing)) >> Oh, come on.

All right, and we have a wonderful guest preacher in the house. He's really family, really. So, please turn your attention to the screens. Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson II, affectionately known as Pastor J, is a dynamic ((music playing)) voice for this generation, passionately committed to changing the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

((music playing)) As lead pastor of Eastern Star Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, he leads with vision, clarity, and a heart for people across all ((music playing)) walks of life. A gifted communicator, Pastor J holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications ((music playing)) from Paine College and a Master of Divinity and Hermeneutics from Morehouse School of Religion.

Before stepping into his current role, he served faithfully as associate pastor of preaching and teaching, and previously as senior pastor of Pilgrim ((music playing)) Missionary Baptist Church, where he led transformative growth and built a thriving, engaged community. Known for his artistic ((music playing)) and poetic approach, Pastor J brings scripture to life, bridging ancient truth with today's culture in a way that inspires all generations.

((music playing)) He's a national preacher, conference leader, author, and devoted ((music playing)) family man, joyfully married to Janelle, and father to three sons. First Baptist, please stand and let's welcome Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson II. Now, this is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it from the rising of the sun to the ((music playing)) setting of the same.

How many know that God's name is worthy to be praised? Has God been good to you? Well, why don't you give your God some kind of praise in this place today? >> ((applause)) >> Hallelujah. And can we keep that praise going for one of God's best to ever do it?

Pastor John K. Jenkins Sr. >> ((applause)) >> Tell your neighbor he's the goat. That's the goat right there. He's the goat. Yeah, we praise God for his ministry and his humility and the fact that God can trust him with the resources and the platform to advance God's kingdom. >> ((applause)) >> The kingdom is all the better because of John K.

Jenkins. And then, of course, to his bride, my auntie, Auntie Trina, in her absence, first lady. And I also have to give a shout-out to my brother uh Joshua Jenkins, Reverend Joshua Jenkins. And him and his wife, Danny, have been such a blessing to me and my bride, Janelle, and we're honored to be here uh today celebrating Young Adult Sunday.

I won't be before you long. I know we got a long day today, but there's a word from the Lord found in the book of John, John chapter 11. John chapter 11 This is a familiar passage of scripture. I'm going to read a couple verses to get us started today, verse 5 and 6.

I'm reading from the New Living Translation. Lord, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of our hearts, let them be acceptable in your sight. For God, you are our strength and redeemer. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. John chapter 11 beginning at verse number five.

It says, "So although Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, he stayed where he was for the next 2 days." Amen. >> [clears throat] >> I want to speak from this thought, he may not come when you want him. You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. Tell your neighbor, "Neighbor, he may not come when you want him."

Every day is a busy morning in my household. We have three boys who go to three different schools. Y'all pray for us. And our youngest son, Jeremiah, he is always thinking of a plan to get out of going to school. So one day his knees hurting, the next day his elbows hurting.

One day he came to my room and said, "Dad, my my head is hurting." I said, "Son, we we ain't got time for your games today. Go ahead and get ready to go to school. We have a long day." I said, "Why don't you pray that the Lord will heal your head?"

And so as we are getting ready and prepared for school, Jeremiah the prophet is going in and out of the rooms and down the hallways with his hands together, praying that the Lord will heal his head. It was my day to drop him off that day, and so by the time we got to his school, and I was taking him out of his car seat, he said, "Dad, my head is hurting."

I said, "Son, I thought you prayed for your head." He said, "I did, but it didn't work." Have you ever felt like you prayed but it didn't work? You prayed for your marriage and it still fell apart. You prayed for your child and they still made the wrong decision.

You prayed for your community and we still deal with injustice. You prayed for this nation and we're still dealing with wars and rumors of wars. Have you ever felt like you prayed but it didn't work? Do you know exactly what Mary and Martha felt like as their brother ended up sick?

The Bible says that Lazarus was sick, and because there was a sick brother, there were some concerned sisters. Because whenever you got a sick brother, there's some sister who's impacted. Some wife, some sister, some friend, some mother, some grandmama, some auntie, and here in the text today, we have a sick brother named Lazarus, and as a result, his two sisters, Mary and Martha, were concerned.

And as a result, they did what any sisters could do in this situation, is that they got word to Jesus. I love that because they they came into a situation in their life where where all their tools and their resources fell short. So they decided that they were going to get word to Jesus.

And notice how they framed their message to Jesus. "Hey Jesus, the one you love is sick." And family, that helps us to understand that you can have love for Jesus and still get sick. Job put it like this, "The same God who gives is the same God who takes away."

I don't care how long you've been in church, I don't care how many scriptures you can quote, I don't care how many amens you can throw back at the preacher. All of us at one season or another will experience some sickness in our life. And I want you to understand that that that sickness goes beyond the physical.

Because all of us can come into church on Palm Sunday with our church clothes on, with our church smile, our church slogans and sayings, and "How you doing? God is good all the time, and all the time God is good." You can look physically well and still be emotionally sick.

You could be physically well and still be mentally sick. You can be physically well and still spiritually sick. Because if you've yet to accept Christ as your personal Lord and savior, that's a spiritual sickness. And here is Mary and Martha, their brother is sick. So they decided to get word to Jesus. "Hey Jesus, the one you love is sick."

And they weren't lying. Jesus and Lazarus were homies that whenever Jesus would pull up to Bethany, he would always stop to Mary and Martha and Lazarus' house, and he would have conversations with his brother Lazarus. They would break bread together. They would drink wine together. Whenever he would pull up to Lazarus' house, he would always go over his sermons and his lessons to get feedback from the brother and the two sisters.

And they said, "The one you love is sick." Here is Lazarus with a intimate, close relationship with God, and he's still sick. And the Bible says that when Jesus gets word of Lazarus' illness, he stayed where he was. He didn't move. He left their message on red. Because here's what here's what Mary and Martha and Jesus show us is that Mary and Martha, you cannot expedite the savior.

You cannot get Jesus to move when you want him to move. Because Jesus moves whenever he gets ready to move. He does whatever he wants to do whenever he gets ready to do it, and he'll use whomever he pleases because Jesus is not on your clock or your calendar.

Jesus is not concerned with your calendar invites. He's not concerned with your deadlines and your timelines because Jesus Jesus is he's he works in time, but he's beyond time. His ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. They as high as ours as the heavens are above the earth.

A day is like a thousand years to God, and a thousand years is like a day. You can't speed God up. Somebody right now got God on a timeline where if God don't move by the 1st of April, I'mma take matters into my own hands. No, God is not concerned with your timeline.

He's not anxious in glory. He's not He's not STRESSED OUT ABOUT YOUR SITUATION. And that's why I love what Jesus does. He stayed where he was. And now, while Jesus stays where he was, the text says that the sisters' situation goes from bad to worse. Now the brother ain't sick no more, the brother is dead.

Now the sisters are not concerned anymore, the sisters are grieving. And then word gets back to Jesus. And Jesus says, "I'm glad I wasn't there." That don't sound like the Jesus I grew up on. That don't sound like the Jesus I learned about in Sunday school. Wait a minute, Jesus, you're glad you were not there?

Because now the situation has gone from bad to worse. Have you ever been in a predicament where it felt like your situation went from bad to worse after you got word to Jesus? I mean, after you prayed, after you fasted, after you cried at the altar, after you read your scriptures, after you came to church at 8:00 in the morning, and your situation got worse.

This is where the sisters are. Their their situation went from bad to worse. And to make matters even more interesting, Jesus says, "I'm glad I wasn't there." But but you you got to keep reading though, cuz check out what Jesus says after that. Bro says, "I'm glad I wasn't there."

Why, Jesus? So that the glory can be revealed. Ooh, that's a bar right there. "I'm glad I wasn't there so that the glory can be revealed. And sometimes your situation has to go from bad to worse so that God can build a platform for his glory to be on display. >> ((cheering)) >> Okay, I know what it is because we we fooled by these TikTok theologians and these Facebook preachers to make us think that when you give your life to Christ everything is going to go well.

You'll be rich and healthy. When you give your life to Christ you won't have no issues. You won't have any problems. But you do know that ain't Bible because even Jesus says that in this life you shall have tribulation. Jesus says, you see what they do to a green tree.

Now what you think they're going to do to a dried up withered tree? BECAUSE YOU SHALL HAVE TRIBULATION. There are seasons where your problems will go from bad to worse. But when your problem go from bad to worse, don't give up on God. Start looking out for God's glory.

Okay, your neighbor didn't say amen. They don't know what God's glory is. Glory is the manifestation of God's power. Glory is the manifestation of God's character. That regardless of how bad your situation is, don't you know you serve a good God? That when God's glory is on display, THINGS GET BETTER.

WHEN GOD'S GLORY IS ON DISPLAY, THINGS WILL TURN AROUND. WHEN GOD'S GLORY IS ON DISPLAY, ALL OF THESE THINGS work together for the good. Jesus says, I'm glad I wasn't there so that my glory can be revealed. Here's what I've discovered about God. Every now and again God would allow your problem to go from bad to worse so that God can create something in your life where your faith goes beyond what you hear and goes into what you experience.

There's some seasons in my life where I've sang the songs. I've read the stories. I've heard the preaching. But it didn't really HIT ME UNTIL I HAD TO LIVE THAT THING OUT. I heard that God was a God of all comfort, but I didn't know it until I HAD TO BURY MY BEST FRIEND.

I SANG THAT HIS BLOOD REACHES FROM THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN AND FLOWED TO THE LOWEST VALLEY, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW IT UNTIL MY WORST SIN HAD ME LOW DOWN. I HEARD THAT GOD WILL provide all of my needs, but I didn't know it until I WENT BROKE. I HEARD THAT GOD CAN FORGIVE YOU PEACE THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW IT UNTIL I FOUND MYSELF DEALING WITH DEPRESSION.

AND YOU AIN'T GOT TO LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT. THAT'S WHY OUR ANCESTORS WOULD SAY, IF I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM, HOW WOULD I KNOW THAT GOD COULD SOLVE IT? HOW WOULD I KNOW WHAT FAITH IN HIS WORD COULD DO? BUT THROUGH IT ALL [screaming] I LEARNED HOW TO TRUST IN JESUS.

ANYBODY LEARN HOW TO TRUST IN GOD? ANYBODY [screaming] LEARN HOW TO LOOK OUT FOR HIS GLORY? >> ((cheering)) >> Tell your neighbor he may not come when you want him. Uh This reminds me, family, about the time I took my boys to a birthday party. We were uh we were celebrating my little cousin Jackson's birthday.

He was turning like 8 years old. And so after we got lit on punch and cake, they brought out they brought out the piñata. They brought the piñata out and and they started blindfolding kids with a bat. And so my kids were kind of standing off to the side cuz they like, what in the world is going on?

And so I had to explain to my kids the gospel of the piñata. So they got the blindfolds. They're swinging at the piñata. And my kids are off to the side kind of nervous. And I had to explain to them, well sons, the reason why they are swinging at the piñata is because there's something on the inside of the piñata that we're trying to get to.

That there's some sweets and some treats on the inside of the piñata. And the only way we can get to the sweets and the treats on the inside is that we beat that thing down. If we swing at it. If we kick on it and stomp on it.

And the more holes we put in the piñata, the more glory begins to be revealed. And I don't know what piñata I'm speaking to today. If you feel like you're in your piñata season, it seems as if life is swinging on you AND STOMPING AT YOU AND TAKING LIFE OUT OF YOU.

BUT BABY, that life AIN'T TAKING IT OUT OF YOU. THAT'S GOD GETTING MORE GLORY. DO I HAVE A witness in here today? WE'VE BEEN MADE ENDURE FOR A NIGHT, BUT HOW MANY OF YOU KNOW THAT JOY WILL COME IN THE MORNING? I'm glad I wasn't there so that his glory can be revealed.

And so now look at your Jesus. Finally taking off. And when he gets to Bethany, when he gets to Mary and Martha's house, Jesus ain't late. He late late. He's missed the last breath of his best friend. He's missed the celebration of life. He's missed giving his remarks under 2 minutes or less.

He ain't late. He late late. And when he gets there, the sisters pull up on Jesus. And and here's where I like to use my Holy Ghost imagination a little bit cuz I imagine that Mary and Martha were some black sisters cuz when they when they when they got to Jesus, they gave Jesus a piece of their mind.

I really feel like they have been rehearsing this for the past 4 days because when they got to Jesus, they both said the same thing. Had you been here, Jesus, my brother wouldn't have died. Don't you see the head movement? Don't you see? My brother wouldn't have died.

I like this. I like this because because I can imagine Mary and Martha, they had to be frustrated waiting on Jesus. Have you ever had to wait on Jesus before? Have you ever had to wait on Matter of fact, somebody in this room right now, somebody streaming right now is in a season where they're waiting on God.

Waiting on God to make a way. Waiting on God to bring healing. Waiting on God to bring comfort. Waiting on God to provide. Waiting on God to open a door. Waiting on God to provide clarity. And and and church folk can look real holy until they got to wait on God.

I know I know what we learned in Sunday school. I know what they tell us in Sunday school. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They should mount up on wings as eagles. They should run and not be weary. They should walk and not faint.

Very poetic. Very poetic. It's a nice verse to highlight, but try living that thing out. >> ((cheering)) >> Try waiting on God when you ain't got no money to pay your bills. Try waiting on God when the diagnosis is worse than you thought. Try waiting on God when you're planning out funerals.

Try waiting on God. And here's what I discovered. Waiting on God can be a frustrating experience. And we see that with Mary and Martha. They are frustrated. But here's here's what I discovered. That frustrated faith is still faith. Don't lose your faith while you're waiting on God. Because when Jesus finally showed up, the sisters said, had you been here, my brother wouldn't have died.

And and check out what Jesus said. Uh he will live again. And and Mary and Martha Martha said, listen, Jesus. Listen, I I I graduated from Sabbath school, okay? I know that Lazarus will rise again on the on the last day, on the great resurrection. Jesus says, I ain't talking about the last resurrection.

I ain't talking about the last day. I'm talking about it here and now. Check out what Jesus says. I am the life. You you missed it. I'm sorry. I went too quickly. Their situation went from bad to worse. They've been waiting on God. God finally shows up. And Jesus says, don't trip about your dead situation because I am the life.

I am the resurrection. Do you believe this, Martha? And Martha said, yeah, I do believe. I'm frustrated, but I but I still believe. I'm confused, but I still believe. I HAVE QUESTIONS, BUT I STILL BELIEVE. Don't let church folk make you think that faith AND DOUBT CAN'T COEXIST AT THE SAME TIME.

IT'S LIKE WHEN THE FATHER BROUGHT HIS SON WHO WAS demon possessed. AND HE TOLD JESUS, I DO BELIEVE, BUT HELP MY UNBELIEF. I know the sisters still believe because even though their brother WAS DEAD, THEIR FAITH WAS STILL ALIVE. AND AND KNOW THEIR faith was still alive BECAUSE EVEN WITH A DEAD BROTHER, THEY KEPT TALKING TO JESUS.

THEY KEPT COMMUNICATING WITH JESUS. And I want to encourage somebody who's waiting on God IN A DEAD SITUATION. DON'T STOP YOUR PRAYER LIFE. CONTINUE TO TRUST IN GOD BECAUSE GOD WILL TAKE YOUR FRUSTRATED FAITH AS A SEED FOR YOUR MIRACLE TO BE PERFORMED. DO I HAVE [screaming] A WITNESS IN HERE TODAY?

I am the resurrection. I am the life. Do you believe this, Martha? And Martha with tears in her eyes, Martha grieving in her heart, Martha with pain on her mind, I do believe. My My wife, Janelle, is here with me today. And uh few years ago, Pastor Jenkins, she had to take our one of our sons to the dentist for the first time.

And she came back home and told me the story. And y'all, I was like, "Jesus, I'm glad I wasn't there." Uh she said when they were headed to the dentist, Jeff was crying. He was crying all the way to the dentist. He cried in the parking lot. He cried when they walked through the threshold of the office.

He cried in the waiting room. When they finally called his name, he cried down the hallway. He cried when they were sitting in the dentist chair. And my wife, she said I apologize to the dentist. I said, "I'm so sorry that my son is doing all this crying."

And the dentist says, "You don't have to apologize because at least his mouth is open." >> ((cheering)) >> Your neighbor missed it. They're at the dentist office, tears in his eyes. She said, "You don't have to apologize because at least his mouth is open. Now I can work on him.

Now I can clean him where he's dirty. Now I can straighten out what is crooked." I wonder if there's anybody that CAN TESTIFY. EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, ALL I GOT ARE CRIES. ALL I HAVE ARE TEARS. BUT glory be to God that we serve a God THAT CAN BRING JOY FROM MOURNING.

DO I HAVE A WITNESS IN HERE TODAY? KEEP CRYING YOUR TEARS AND WATCH GOD HAVE HIS WAY. I do believe. And here's what I've discovered about Jesus. Jesus is always willing to show a different side of him that you never seen before in your worst situation. Jesus says, "I am the life and the resurrection.

Martha, I know I know you knew that I can heal the sick. That's why you called on me when your brother got ill. But what you didn't know was that I could raise the dead." >> [applause and cheering] >> And And he allows the problem to go from bad to worse to reveal more of him to you because you never would have been open to the life and the resurrection HAD YOUR BROTHER NOT DIED.

OKAY. Uh Uh I I I know where I'm at. I'm at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. And your pastor is a phenomenal teacher and and communicator. And so all all all the Sunday School alumni in the room, uh y'all already know that that phrase I am is a play on words that Jesus was using of his father back in Old Testament.

That when God pulled up on Moses in the burning bush, God told Moses, "Amo, I need you to go tell Pharaoh let my people go." Moses says, "Listen, God, I would, but I I I I I I got a stuttering problem. And And And what What God should I say sent me?"

God says, "Tell them I am that I am." Moses said, "What does that mean?" God said, "Whatever you need me to be, I can become that for you." The children of Israel were in bondage. God said, "Tell them freedom sent you. Tell them justice sent you. Tell them liberation sent you."

Now check out Jesus in the New Testament sounding just like his daddy telling the folk in Jerusalem that I can become whatever you need me to be. So when you're hungry, I'm the bread of life. When your back is against the wall, I'm the way. When you're disconnected, I'm the true vine.

When you need a way out of no way, I'm the door. When you need leadership, I'm the good shepherd. Whatever you need me to be, that's what I can become. I WONDER IF THERE'S ANYBODY THAT CAN THANK GOD THAT WHATEVER YOU NEED GOD TO BE, MY GRANDMAMMA didn't go to seminary, BUT SHE SAID, "HE'S A BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER.

HE'S THE ROSE OF SHARON. HE'S THE MOTHER TO THE MOTHERLESS, A FATHER TO THE FATHERLESS, A LAWYER IN THE COURTROOM." DO I HAVE A WITNESS IN HERE TODAY? I'm done. Uh Uh Martha said, "I believe." Jesus said, "Okay. All right. Uh since you believe, I I I need you I need your help real quick because don't expect Jesus to do all the work."

Jesus says, "I need your faith to be activated." Jesus moves her faith from frustration to activation. Jesus says, "Listen, I don't need you I don't need no observation. I need collaboration. I need participation. Because God is teaching us in this text that if you do what you can do, God will handle the rest."

Okay. Bible readers, let's take a moment and have some Bible study. Uh when Moses was at the Red Sea with the sea in front of him, Pharaoh's army behind him, and he's stuck. He finds himself between a Red Sea and a Pharaoh. And God said, "All I need you to do is lift up your staff."

And God turned a highway from a Red Sea. You do what you can do, God will take care of the rest. Okay. Uh You want God to bring down the Jericho walls? The least you can do is walk around that thing every day for a week. Then on the seventh day, walk around it seven times.

Then I can bring down Okay, that's Old Testament. Let me give you a New Testament. God says, "Okay, you want me to turn You want me to restore what you've lost, married couple, after you celebrated for a few days and you ran out of wine? The least you can do is fill these jars up with water.

I see your friend is paralyzed. The least you can do is pick him up, drop him off, put him up on the roof, PUT A HOLE IN THE ROOF, LOWER THAT THING DOWN." AND THE BIBLE SAYS WHEN JESUS SAW THEIR FAITH, BECAUSE ONCE YOUR FAITH IS ACTIVATED, GOD HAS A WAY OF PERFORMING MIRACLES IN YOUR LIFE.

Jesus says, "Here's what I need you to do. Show me where you laid him. Show me where you gave up. Show me where you threw IN THE TOWEL. SHOW ME WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS OVER. SHOW ME WHERE YOU THREW UP THE WHITE FLAG OF SURRENDER. Now roll the stone away because there are some things THAT ARE BLOCKING MY POWER from going forth in your life.

And I don't know what stone you need to roll away in your life and in your family's life. I don't know if it's addiction. I don't know if it's pride. I don't know if it's childhood trauma. But whatever you need to do, God says, "Once you roll the stone away, then I can get TO WORK."

LAZARUS, [screaming] COME FORTH. OKAY. I I like it because check out what Jesus does. Jesus calls Lazarus out by name. Uh uh Pastor Jenkins, my dad said that the old preacher that Jesus had to be specific cuz if he would have just said, "Come forth," everybody would have came forth.

Abraham, Isaac, Sarah, Rachel, everybody would have came forth. Because even Jesus shows us that you got to be specific with your prayers. And I'm speaking to somebody that's in a dead situation right now, raising a dead family, trying to put together a dead marriage, RAISING A DEAD CHILD, IN A DEAD JOB, WITH DEAD FINANCES.

But I dare you to call that thing out by name. And how many of you know that when you call THAT OUT BY NAME, GOD WILL CALL THAT CHILD OUT BY NAME. CALL THAT SPOUSE OUT BY NAME. CALL THAT JOB OUT BY [screaming] NAME. CALL THIS COUNTRY OUT BY NAME.

AND HOW MANY OF YOU KNOW THAT GOD BRINGS LIFE TO A DEAD SITUATION? And check out Lazarus. Here he is. I'm speeding up. He's walking out the grave. He's stumbling out the grave. He's coming out of a dark place. He's been dead. He's been in a dark situation.

And when Jesus calls him out by name, he even dead folk got to respond to the voice and the name of Jesus. And I like what Jesus does here. Jesus says, "I still need your participation. Thank you for showing me where you laid him. Thank you for rolling the stone away."

And I almost forgot what the sisters told him. The sister says, "Hey, Jesus, by now he stink." Jesus says, "I don't care how foul your situation. Roll the stone away. Call him out by name." But here's what I love. The text says that Jesus told him, "Take off the grave clothes." >> ((cheering)) >> Because Lazarus is alive, but he ain't living yet.

Take off the grave clothes. Take the clothes off of his face. Take the clothes off of his hands. Take the clothes off of his feet. Take the clothes off of his FACE BECAUSE I NEED THIS BROTHER TO HAVE VISION. I NEED TO HIM TO SEE where I'm getting ready to take him.

Take the clothes off of his hands because I need him to get back to work. HE'S BEEN DEAD FOR TOO LONG. I need him to go to work AND I NEED HIS hands to be free so that he can WORSHIP ME, SO THAT he can praise me. Now take the clothes off of his feet because I'm GETTING READY TO TAKE HIM TO THE next level because I KNOW YOU'VE BEEN DEAD, BUT NO EYES HAVE SEEN, NO EAR HAS HEARD, NEITHER HAS IT ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN WHAT GOD IS ABOUT TO DO.

And Jesus shows us that he can bring life to a dead situation. And I don't know who needed to hear that today. I don't know what situation has you bound. I don't know how long you've been waiting on the Lord, but the longer you wait, the more God will show up and reveal more of him of who he is to you.

Okay. I'm done. I got to We got to move on. I'm going to close with this because Joshua, I remember I went on one of the last family vacations that my parents paid for. It was one of the last ones that they paid for and I and I tried to take full advantage of it.

It was one of the last ones before I was fully into adulthood. Amen. And uh And they took us they took us to this trip. Me, I got three younger brothers, all of us, my parents, we went out on this family vacation and I had an amazing time.

But then when we're at the airport awaiting our flight to take off we had to wait for a while. And so one of the things that we did was we tried to get connected to the Wi-Fi. And I don't really know what Wi-Fi is. All I know is that it is invisible higher power.

So we we're trying to kill time. We're trying to connect our devices to the invisible higher power, but I discovered that at this particular airport you had to pay for the higher power. Now I'm going to tell y'all what I spent my money on that week, but I spent all my money.

I couldn't afford to get connected to the higher power. I fell short trying to get connected to the higher power. And but then I looked over and my little brother, my youngest brother Josiah, he's scrolling Instagram. He's on YouTube. He's surfing the worldwide web. I said, "Hey bro, how did you get connected to the Wi-Fi?"

He said, "Well, I paid for it." Well, I said, "Well, why don't you give me your login information and then I can connect my device." Y'all not saying nothing like y'all pay for your own Netflix and Disney Plus. Give me your login. Let me connect my device. So that's what he did.

He gave me his login. I connected my device. We then gave that same login information to my two other brothers. They connected. We then gave that same login information to both of my parents and they connected. Now the entire family is able to get connected to the higher power because we had a brother that was willing to pay the price. >> ((cheering)) >> And back on Calvary over 2,000 years ago Jesus pulled up to Jerusalem on a donkey.

One day they're yelling Hosanna forever. The next day they're yelling crucify him because Dr. Dominique Robinson says these Hosannas ain't loyal. They beat my Jesus. They arrested my Jesus. They put a spear in the side. They nailed my Jesus to that cross with a crown of thorns on his head, BUT MY GRANDMAMA SAID THAT'S NOT HOW THE STORY ENDS.

THREE DAYS LATER GOD ROSE UP WITH ALL POWER IN HIS HANDS AND THE SAME POWER THAT RAISED CHRIST FROM THE DEAD IS LIVING AND MOVING and breathing THROUGH YOU. DO I HAVE A WITNESS IN THE ROOM TODAY? TELL YOUR NEIGHBOR HE MAY NOT COME WHEN YOU WANT HIM BUT HE'S ALWAYS ON TIME.

HE'S AN OLD TIME [screaming] GOD. SOMEBODY SHOUT OUT, "YES, HE IS." You don't have TO WORRY AND DON'T YOU BE AFRAID. JOY COMES IN THE MORNING. TROUBLE DON'T [screaming] LAST ALWAYS FOR THERE'S A FRIEND NAMED JESUS WHO WIPES YOUR TEARS AWAY. AND IF YOUR HEART IS OPEN, JUST LIFT THOSE HANDS AND SAY, "I KNOW THAT I CAN MAKE IT.

I KNOW THAT I CAN STAND NO MATTER [screaming] WHAT COMES MY WAY." ANYBODY'S LIFE IN THE HANDS OF GOD? WELL, WHY DON'T YOU GIVE YOUR OWN TIME GOD [screaming] SOME PRAISE IN THIS PLACE TODAY? >> ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> HE MAY NOT COME WHEN YOU WANT HIM. SOMEBODY SAY HE MAY NOT COME WHEN YOU WANT HIM.

Anybody grateful for that word? >> ((cheering)) >> Pastor Pastor J said he said he does not care about our time tables. He said he live he operates in time but he is also outside of time. I say it like this. He's in the past. He's in the present. And he's in the future.

Therefore he can't be early. He can't be late. He can only be on time because he occupies all of time. And I don't know about you but somebody in here today God was already in this space in time cuz he knew you needed to be in this space at this time with your dead situation.

And this is what I this is what I want to offer you really quickly is that we had a brother who took our sins and paid the debt that we owe. And so today if there's anybody who is unsaved you've been waiting for God to show up. Well, let me tell you something.

He's here. And you need to just come come on up and accept the forgiveness of sin. Turn to your neighbor and say, "Look, if that's you come on up with say I need Jesus. I've been I I He may not come when I want him. I'm waiting for him, but I'm going to come and get a relationship with Jesus today."

It starts with a what? Relationship. So if that's you, just come right now. You need Jesus. You need to accept the forgiveness of sin. Come on right now. Just make your way. Swallow your pride. Push through the crowd. >> ((music playing)) >> I don't care if you're in the balcony.

I don't care where you are. Come on right now. Say that's me. I need to accept Jesus. I need to accept the forgiveness of sin. My situation is dead and I'm tired of doing it by myself. I'm tired of doing it alone. I need Jesus to show up.

And he showed up today so you can come and push through. I see you, sister. I see you, brother. That's right. Come on. Quickly. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. >> [singing] ((music playing)) >> In the name of [singing] Do it now. >> ((music playing)) >> Oh, do it now. Do [singing] it now.

Unsaved. Now there's somebody in here who who needs to rededicate their self. You've been in a backslidden state and you need to you need to refocus. Amen. You have forgotten what God has done for you and you're living like it. And if that's you, you need to come up here and say, "Lord, I need to rededicate myself.

I need to refocus. Turn back to you." I want you to come. If that's you, come on. Yep. It's all right. That's all right. Come on. That's it. Come on. He calls for you. He calls for you. He calls for you. He calls for you. Come on right now.

Yes. >> [music and singing] >> Oh, come In the name of I see you, brother. I see you. Come right now. >> [music and singing] >> Come right now. My brother, my sister. >> [singing] >> Unsure. If there's somebody in here you don't know if you have a relationship with Jesus. You're unsure. We want we want to provide assurance that you know that you know if you're unsaved or watch this.

There's some people in here uh you need a church home. You keep dating us and won't commit. And this is a good church. You've been taking us out on dates and it's time to commit. >> ((applause)) >> You need to come. Get in community. I know this is a big church, but this is the thing about mega churches.

When you get involved, the church shrinks. >> ((applause)) >> This is just the corporate worship. There's relationships being built at this church. There's community at this church. There is serving going on at this church. There's discipleship happening. If that's you, come right now say, "Look, I need to join this church.

This is a good church. Come join First Baptist Church. We would love to have you." Online too. I'm talking to y'all too. There's a link on the screen. There's a number. Amen. Last thing, turn to the right left side. You supposed to be up there? Say, are you unsaved?

Do you need the forgiveness of sin? Do you need to rededicate? And this is just a big room and you scared? I'll walk with you. Grab them by the hand say, "Come on. It's time to go. Don't let Listen, do not miss the moment." Amen. We'll give God praise. >> ((applause)) ((music playing)) >> So proud of you.

God knew. And whatever's dead in your life, because you say, "Lord, I need you and I'm going to accept you today." Whatever God knows exactly where y'all are and what was dead is going to come to life. Just stay with Christ. Amen. Amen. Can y'all stretch your hands this way?

Lord, we thank you for these your sons and daughters. Lord, we pray God right now that you save and wash them in your blood. You know what they stand in need of. Some might need relationships. Some might need re- to rededicate. Some might need assurance and they might need to join this church.

You already know, God, but we thank you for your grace and your mercy. Cover them in Jesus' name. Amen. The person behind you is an altar counselor. They going to take you to a It's a regular room, but when you leave out, you going to be different than you walked up in there with. >> [applause and cheering] >> Amen.

Be seated for 2 seconds, church. Was that a word? Was that a word, y'all? Okay, we going We need to bless the man of God. Jay, I love you, bro. Good gracious alive. I might have to steal that sermon. I ain't going to lie to you. I wrote a lot of what you said down because I'm probably going to use it.

That was amazing, bro. I love you so much. We going to bless the man of God for his labor. Does that make sense? We want God to take him even beyond his wildest dreams and to continue doing the work of the kingdom. Amen. So more people can hear him.

More people can see him and God get the glory through his life. Amen. So there's multiple ways you can give to him. You can get go on our website fbcglenarden.org/give. If you need an envelope, there should be one in the seat back pocket, which is in front of you.

And you can get an envelope there. If you don't see one, an usher will get one to you. And if you have a physical offering, you can put it in the offering boxes on your way out around the building. One second, ladies and gentlemen. Amen. fbcglenarden.org/give. Physical offering.

And we trust you. We believe in you because you we know that you can bring life to our dead situations. So bless this offering. Bless Pastor Jay, his wife, his family, his church in Jesus' name. Amen. >> ((music playing)) [music and singing] [music and singing] ((music playing)) ((music playing)) [singing] ((music playing)) [music and singing] ((music playing)) [singing] ((music playing)) [singing] ((music playing)) [music and singing] >> Amen. Amen. Uh I want to keep my job. He told me something at the beginning My dad told me something, but I just want to make sure that's still the case.

You always check with your boss to make sure you doing the right thing. Dad, do you want to Yes. Y'all give it Can we give it up for our senior pastor, Pastor John K. Jenkins Sr.? >> ((applause)) >> I'm so proud of our young people, our young adults. Amen.

They >> ((applause)) >> They are They got it. They got it. Jeffrey Johnson II. Don't you ever come in here and preach like that again. Taking over my church. I'm not retiring yet. Let's thank the Lord for that word that he gave tonight. ((applause)) Tremendous. Excellent. I'm going to call your father and tell him on you.

Next Sunday is uh Resurrection Sunday. Um >> ((applause)) >> Last year for Resurrection Sunday, every one of our services was packed out. And that's why we added a Saturday service. So I want to ask you to pray for your friends, unsaved friends, unchurched friends. And I want to ask you to pray about coming to Saturday service.

Amen. Thank you. One person say, "I'll be there." Thank you. I don't want you to decide not to come if you don't can. Still want you to come one way or the other, but if you're able to come on Sat- Saturday, it gives us room for unsaved people who come on that on Sunday. >> ((applause)) >> Okay?

So just give some consideration to that, okay? >> [laughter] >> Y'all didn't answer him not a word. All right. So that's what I want y'all to do. All right. Okay. Let's give it up for Joshua. I think he's doing a great job and he's well. >> [cheering and applause] >> All right.

May God keep you, bless you. May his face smile shine upon you. Grant you his peace in Jesus' name. Amen. Have a great week. Good Friday service. Glory to glory. The play glory to glory. Good Friday. Yes, indeed. Well, family, you can still accept Christ. Um that's the one amazing thing about our God.

He's always available. You can still accept Christ today. And or join FBCG by calling the number that's in the chat or by visiting fbcglenarden.org/commit or by emailing commit@fbcglenarden.org. We have 2,300 members all over the world on our online campus. We would love to have you join our community or to join us here in person.

So that's still possible. Let's get to that service. Like we got We got to talk about that word. >> amazing. So his title was he may not come when you want to. And he preached from John. And just even those little two scriptures that he used and gave so many good points on how we need to be waiting with faith.

Yeah. So something that stuck out to me was how he was saying that even in your when you're frustrated, you have that frustrated faith. It's still a type of faith. Yeah. And I just thought that was so encouraging and inspiring to even hear that even when we're upset and frustrated with our situation, but we still have that faith Yeah. that it can still It's still faith. >> It's still faith. >> And that's like amazing to hear.

I think that was a awesome point because I think often times the enemy kind of wants you to think if you're frustrated, then you can't go to God, right? Like you need to come correct, right? And so it's like you're frustrated, so you don't you don't go to God with like your frustration and then the frustration builds up and then like that's when you start making those like rushed decisions.

Like I like how he said that. He's like, "If God don't do it by April 1st, I'm going to take matters into my own hands." Like that's when you start taking matters into your own hands out of your frustration. But we can go to God in our frustration and be honest with him.

And and he he can handle our frustration. He big enough. He can He can do it. >> And even like his point on What did he say about always just making sure that you are waiting? Yeah. And things like that. It's even so even like inspirational and just making sure that you always have time for him and giving those specific Yeah. prayers.

Yeah. Cuz if he didn't say Lazarus, everybody would have came. I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that, too. You got to be specific. You got to give those details. And if you're giving too many details, that's more than the little that we normally give. >> Yeah.

God already knows the situation. He just wants us to come to him about it. >> Yeah, he wants us to come with us to us He wants us to come to him about specific things, right? And I think something else that I really enjoyed from this message is him talking about how God's glory gets shown through our you know, through these like situations that go from like bad to worse.

And like I was thinking about it in my seat. I was like all my best stories are stories like that where it's like a situation was out of control or was unsolvable for me. And then I I saw God do something. It's It's a great It's like It's always a great story to tell, but like when it's happening in the moment Yeah, it's like you know, you like you don't want >> [laughter] >> You don't want it in the moment like you know what I'm saying?

Like yeah. Yeah, like It's for somebody else. And that's what it normally is, so And that's you know, people joke about that like don't don't ask God for character development cuz he going [laughter] to Look, he going to develop THAT CHARACTER. BUT HE GOING TO DEVELOP THAT CHARACTER, but you got I mean you going to have to do some He going to have He going to throw some stuff at you like he had the thing about the piñata.

I like that. I like that. It's It's stopping on the piñata to get the get the Yeah. Get the good stuff out. Yeah. Cuz I think Cuz that piñata goes through a lot. >> YEAH, YEAH. >> [laughter] >> THE PIñATA IS PIñATAING. >> It is. Yeah. No, I I I definitely feel like it was This was really an encouraging message for me today cuz I I think sometimes again like you go through situations and you can just feel pretty defeated or just feel like this situation is getting the best of me or like why am I going through this or whatever?

Like you just start to kind of think negative. Yeah. And at least for me, I can kind of think past of like oh like like I'm not I'm not blaming it on God, but you know, I'm kind of like just like this will just whatever like just But I kind of think like God's working in the situation, right?

And so don't ignore it or like just be like you know what? This isn't as bad as it is or whatever. Like it's it's it's bad and it's going from bad to worse, but but God's in the He's in there with you and he will never leave you or forsake you. >> Yeah.

So, he had a good He had a good text to to to preach from cuz this is this is I I remember read I remember reading this. I have a I have a very distinct memory of reading this text the first time from John and I remember being like what?

Cuz it was like depending on the version you read there, it was like and and because Jesus loved them, he stayed two days. I'm like what are you Jesus, what are you doing? What what's going on? Jesus, what do you mean by that? What do you What do you mean [laughter] by that?

What do you mean by that? What are you doing? What are we doing? What do you mean by that? But yeah, so message was needed. Very much. I knew it was going to get the best from him. Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson the second. His dad always give us the best. >> [laughter] >> So, before we go, let's give a little announcement. >> Yeah.

So, next week Glory to Glory is on Good Friday at 7:00 p.m. Sorry. This week. Sorry. My my boss like y'all Make sure you're submitting to your boss. Screaming. It's this Friday, Good Friday at 7:00 and it'll be on all virtual platforms. Yeah. And then Resurrection Resurrection weekend is coming up as well, which is this weekend. >> Yep.

And we've got some Saturday service service. Yeah. I'm so excited about cuz that's new. And then four services on Sunday. 6:00 a.m., 8:00 p.m. Sorry. 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and noon. Don't have the saints in here at 8:00 [laughter] p.m. >> I don't know about 8:00 p.m. I don't know if Jesus going to be there or not.

But yeah, so I'm excited about the Saturday service, so Pastor's encouraging us all to come so there is more space on Sunday for those people that are unsaved and want to connect to a church. Yeah. And so thanks for worshipping worshipping with us today. [laughter] So, we hope you have an amazing week and remember this word and remember he will always come when he is ready.
