And welcome to another online worship experience here at The First Baptist Church of Glenn Arden International, where our head pastor is John K. Jenkins, Sr. We are so happy that you are joining us. So, as we get started for service, go ahead and comment in the chat and let us know where you're joining from.

Rep your city, rep your state, rep your area code. And for our international folks, go ahead and rep your country. My name is Leah Selena Dorsey, and I have the honor in serving at this great house as the Inspire Ministry Director, which creates the online content for the ID Young Adults.

And today is ID Young Adults Sunday. Okay, so it's going down. The young folks are taking over. And as you know, I am never here alone. I have one of my serving brothers in the ministry. I got Jonathan in in the building. Good morning, everybody. Good morning. I'm so glad to be here.

It's Young Adult Sunday. We're going to have a good time. We have me and Leah going to hold it down, and we're going to do it right. But, um I serve here with the Great Him Ministry. I'm one of the facilitators there, and we have a great time over there if you're interested.

But, you know, we're going to have a a ball because, you know, last week was really good. Um we had a lot of things from Pastor, and what we're going to do is we're going to run it back. >> ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> I want you to be able to say, "I'm still here, Jesus.

I'm still here. I still love you." I'm just wondering, do we have people who are willing to say, "I'm going to stick with the Lord, whatever the cost, whatever the conviction"? I don't know where y'all are, but he done done too much for me to turn my back on him.

He done HE DONE TOO MANY DOORS HE'S OPENED. TOO MANY PRAYERS HE'S ANSWERED. TOO MANY MIRACLES THAT HE HAS WORKED. TOO MANY THINGS HE HAS DONE ON MY BEHALF. I WILL NOT SACRIFICE OR COMPROMISE. I [screaming] AM PERSUADED. I WILL STICK TO THE END. Wasn't that great? That felt so choral, even though it's Young Adult Sunday.

That felt so choral. It always gets to me. But, one thing I liked about last week was we really got to understand what we need to do. Like, Pastor really told us to really step up into our, you know, our call. And we need to go out there and do what we need to do.

So, I thought that was an amazing service last week. Absolutely. I feel like God has been talking to me lately all about purpose and spiritual gifts. So, I just feel like he's making everybody come along the journey with me, and Pastor's just talking right to me. Yes. And if you want to go back and look at those messages, you can do so by going to fbcglennarden.org/messages.

Or, you can just go on our Facebook page or our YouTube channel and go ahead and check it out. Now, what do you feel What do you feel like about today? I think we're going to have a a guest in the house, I think. I heard we have a guest in the house.

Yes, we do have a guest preacher today, and I'm so excited for the word because one thing about it is when Pastor Jenkins is not on that platform, he's going to make sure whoever is on that platform is going to bring a dynamic word for us. Yes. And I know he never leaves us empty, so we're going to definitely be fed today.

We're going to go into service. We're going to have a real good time. I just can't wait. I'm really have my notebook ready. I have my my my my notes and everything ready, and we're going to have a good ball. So, I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it, too.

Okay, so when you take your notes, are you on a notebook or are you on your phone? Ah, I'm a little bit of both. So, I have a whole thing in my phone, but I'm a still I'm a old school guy. I have to have a little pen and paper, so, you know, it works out for me.

Okay, praise the Lord. I like to have it on my phone, so then I can easily send it to people when I'm out and about. I'm like, "Oh, you need to get this word." Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. But, that's good. You're doing your job.

Yeah, so let's go ahead and see real quick who is joining us. We got Florida in the building, Pennsylvania, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Michigan, California. Go ahead and let us know some of the international countries. Okay, it looks like we have Portugal in the chat. We have United Kingdom.

We have It looks like we have Spain in somewhere in there. And we have Puerto Rico out there. All my hermanos and hermanas. I love me some Puerto Rico. Yes. Yes. And we're having a good time. Appreciate you guys all joining in and joining us today for service.

We're going to have a great time, and we just hope that you better get what God is um calling you for through this message. So, looking forward to it. Absolutely. It is almost time for service, so go ahead and share this link with somebody else so they can join you in watching.

We'll see you after service. Praise the Lord everybody. >> ((music playing)) >> Oh, magnify the Lord with me. And let us exalt his name together. There's something about that name, that great name. I love to call him. Jesus. He's my ((music playing)) father, my protector, my provider. He's everything I need. Hallelujah.

Please turn me to Psalm 145 verses 17 through 21. Say amen when you ((music playing)) get there, please. The Lord is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works.

The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him. He will also hear their cry and save them. The Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.

My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all the flesh shall bless His holy name forever and ever. The word of the Lord is blessed. Let's go forth throwing in prayer. Dearly Father, we thank you right now, God, for another day, God, to come before You.

So family, please turn attention >> ((music playing)) >> to the screens above. Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson II, affectionately known as Pastor J, is a dynamic ((music playing)) voice for this generation, passionately committed to changing the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ. As lead pastor of Eastern Star ((music playing)) Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, he leads with vision, clarity, and a heart for people across all walks of ((music playing)) life.

A gifted communicator, Pastor J holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Payne College and a Master ((music playing)) of Divinity and Hermeneutics from Morehouse School of Religion. Before stepping into his current role, he served faithfully as associate pastor preaching and teaching and previously as senior pastor of Pilgrim Missionary ((music playing)) Baptist Church, where he led transformative growth and built a thriving engaged community.

((music playing)) Known for his artistic and poetic approach, Pastor J brings scripture to life bridging ancient truth with today's culture in a way that inspires all generations. >> ((music playing)) >> He's a national preacher, conference leader, author, and devoted family man. Joyfully married to Chanel ((music playing)) and father to three sons. First Baptist, please stand and let's welcome Pastor Jeffrey A.

Johnson II. >> ((music playing)) >> This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Has God been good to you? Well, why don't you give your God some kind of praise in this place today? And can we give God praise for one of God's ((music playing)) best, your pastor, Pastor John K.

Jenkins Sr.? Come on, let's praise God for him. He one of the best to ever do it. Tell your neighbor that's the goat right there. That's the goat. That's the goat right there. >> ((music playing)) >> We thank God for him and his ministry and this city, this state, this country, and world is better because of the ministry of John K.

Jenkins Sr. >> ((applause)) ((music playing)) >> And can we praise God for your first lady, his lovely bride, Auntie Trina? I love them so much. And I also got to give a shout-out to my brother who extended the invitation, Reverend Joshua Jenkins. Appreciate him. >> ((music playing)) >> And his him and his wife Danny have been such a a good good friends to me and my wife Chanel.

And even in ministry, it's hard it's hard to press to find good Christian people even in ministry, believe it or not. And uh so we're so grateful for that relationship and their friendship. And then what can we say about the whole Jenkins empire, the whole clan? One of these days y'all going to have to put out a book on parenting teach us how to raise leaders and creatives.

And everybody in the Jenkins household is gifted and anointed. And uh we praise God for them. >> ((applause)) >> All right, we about halfway in this long day, so y'all bear with me and you can meet me in John chapter 12. John chapter 12, I'm going to read a few verses to get us started today.

They lynched my Lord yesterday. Took him off the tree and they put him in the grave. Romans sealed the stone, but they'll leave that thing alone. Peter and them boys run away cuz they afraid. Curtain in the temple tore it up from top to bottom. No more holy holies, we being access to the Father.

Pull up to the gates of hell, preach the revival, set captivity captive, then make death suicidal, not a problem, then early Sunday morning got him got him from the grave with all power like a socket. Oh death, where was your sting? He let freedom ring. Sin can't hold us down, resurrection is our daily reminder.

The tomb is empty. John chapter 12, I'm just waiting on y'all to get there. Y'all ready? When you have it, could you say amen? All right, I'm going to read verses 1, 2, and 3 to get us started today. I have the New Living Translation. Lord, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in your sight, for you are our strength and redeemer, in Jesus' name we pray.

Amen. The Bible says in John chapter 12, verse 1, "Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus, the man he had raised from the dead. A dinner was prepared in Jesus' honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with him.

Then Mary took a 12-oz jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus' feet, wiping his feet with her hair, and the house was filled with the fragrance." Verse 1 says, "Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived in Bethany." I want to speak from this simple thought, when Jesus pulls up.

You may be seated. When Jesus pulls up. My son, Jeffrey Allen III, wears glasses. And his glasses are unique in that inside of a building, they look one way, but when he steps outside, it looks a whole 'nother way. Inside his lenses are clear, but once he steps outside and gets exposed to the sun, the sun changes his look.

It changes how he sees things. It changes what he looks like. When he steps out into the sun, there's a tint that shows up in his lenses, and it changes his whole swagger. It changes how he poses, changes how he walks, changes how he talks, changes how he looks.

And it dawned on me that when somebody gets exposure to the sun, the sun changes everything. >> ((applause)) >> And I'm speaking to somebody in here today who knows what that's like. You know what it's like to get exposure not to the S-U-N, but to the S-O-N of God.

When your family got exposed to the sun, things changed. When your marriage was exposed to the sun, when your when your children got exposed to the sun, your business, your life got exposed to the sun, and whenever the sun intervenes, God has a way of changing everything. And this is exactly what Mary, Martha, and Lazarus discovered in John chapter 12.

The Bible says a week before Jesus pulled up to Jerusalem on that donkey, he pulled up to Bethany. And when he gets to Bethany, Mary, Martha, and Lazarus have a have a house party, or I'm sorry, a dinner party, if you will, in honor of Jesus. And when Jesus gets there, the entire environment in the home changes.

And I like that about Jesus. Aren't you glad that we serve a God that is willing to make house calls? I believe that the the health of our faith is not just determined by how often you show up to the Lord's house, but it's your willingness to extend the invitation for Jesus to show up at your house.

And I know I got about 200 people in the room that can testify when Jesus pulled up to your house, your house has never been the same. But here's here's the thing about Jesus, Jesus doesn't force his way into your home. He doesn't force his way into your life.

He doesn't force his way into your heart. You have to invite Jesus in. Jesus is not like some of your family and friends who will just pull up unannounced. No, you have to extend the invitation for Jesus to come. And whenever you extend the invitation for Jesus to enter into your life, to enter into your heart, to enter into your home, Jesus is always willing to pull up.

It's like when that couple invited Jesus into their wedding, and I'm so glad they did, because when they ran out of wine, Jesus was there to restore what was lost. It's like when Jairus invited Jesus into his home, and by the time he got back to the crib, his daughter who was sick ended up dying, but I'm so glad that Jesus extended the invitation, because Jesus shows us that he's always willing to bring life to a dead situation.

It's It's like when Levi invited Jesus to show up to his house, and all the sinners and prostitutes and tax collectors had a moment to break bread with Jesus, because whenever you invite Jesus over into your life, Jesus has a way of making the difference. In fact, the writer of Revelation says that Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart, waiting on you to open up.

He's not going to force his way. He's not going to break down the door, and in a few moments, we're going to extend the invitation for somebody to come and give their life to Christ, where you can invite Jesus into your heart for forgiveness of sin, and your neighbor is a testament to how God can enter into your life and transform it for the better.

And I already hear already hear what you're saying. You're saying, "Preacher, I would invite Jesus over, but my house is a mess." You sound like me and my wife when we know we got some friends and family coming over, we try to clean up real quick. Put the toys away, straighten up so that our home can look somewhat presentable, but that's not how Jesus operates.

You don't have to clean up before you invite Jesus over. Jesus is willing to enter into your messy situation. He's He's willing to enter into your dirty situation. He's willing to enter into the most toxic area of your life. And I'm not making it up, because in John 12, the text says that Jesus pulled up to Bethany.

That word Bethany in the Greek is the house of affliction, the house of pain, the house of depression, the house of agony. And I don't know about you, but that's good news to know that Jesus has a way of stepping into my affliction. Because there are certain seasons in my life where I don't just experience affliction, I've made affliction my address.

I just don't deal with agony, I've done set up shop in agony. That that I I I just I just didn't encounter depression, I I I I made my home into depression. And you ain't got to look at me like that, because there are seasons in which you've experienced this life, where you've made agony your address, where you've lived in fear, where you've lived in anxiety, where you were stuck in stress, and stuck in the past, and stuck in depression, but God is willing to come to the house of agony.

He's willing to pull up to the house of depression. And I don't care how long you've been stuck, one moment with Jesus can change everything. It's like that woman who had that blood issue for 12 years, but one touch of the hem of Jesus' garment, and immediately she was healed.

It's like that man who was stuck by the pool of Bethesda for 38 years, and and one word from Jesus, he found THE CONFIDENCE TO TAKE UP HIS MAT AND GO BACK TO THE CRIB. IT'S It's like that woman in the temple who was bent over for 18 years, and one touch from Jesus straightened up his whole her whole life.

I wonder if there's a few people that can testify, I spent years in agony, years in affliction, years in addiction, years in a abusive relationship, years with a messed up marriage, years with a messed up mind, but one moment from Jesus changed everything. And I don't care how long you've been stuck.

God has the ability to transform your life. And And that's what he does when he pulls up to Bethany. And he gets there I love this story cuz when he gets there we meet a few characters I want to present to you today. We We meet Martha the worker.

We see Lazarus the witness. We see Mary the worshiper. And And And notice notice what happens when Jesus accepts the invitation to come to the house and they put all the attention on Jesus. Everything that goes on in that house is centered around Jesus. And when Jesus is the center of the house somebody got to be serving.

Somebody has to be working. And And And I know I know we we in the time now where folk don't even want to come to church let alone serve in the church. But But But But those who come to the house of God to sit and watch other people serve I I I question your connection with Jesus.

Because we know I ain't talking about you but the one that's sitting behind you. They come to church and they want to see other people sing, other people dance, other people pray. They want to see other people usher, other people serve the door, other people watch the children.

They come like it's a all-inclusive resort. No, this ain't no all-inclusive resort. This is a family reunion. This is a This is a What you bringing to the cookout? Even if all you got are some plastic utensils, somebody needs to be serving. Somebody needs to be working. Bring your napkins and let's advance the kingdom of God together. >> ((applause)) >> And that's why I love Martha.

Because Martha is serving. She's working. She has a I love her personality. She has a heart for hospitality. She wants to make sure that everybody's good, that everybody feels welcome, that everybody has a unique experience when they get to the house. And this is not unique for Martha.

We We in fact meet Martha in Luke chapter 10 in the beginning of Jesus's ministry in Bible reading as you already know that when Jesus got to the house in Luke chapter 10, this is it early on in his ministry. And And Jesus is sitting at the couch.

Mary is sitting at the feet of Jesus. And Martha is working the house. She's She's cleaning. She's cooking. She's making sure everybody is good. And And I like that because she's she's serving in Luke chapter 10 and she's also serving in John chapter 12. Luke chapter 10 is the beginning of Jesus's ministry.

John chapter 12 is toward the end of Jesus's ministry. From the beginning to the end she's still serving. Now I bring that up today because I know a few years ago John Pastor John Jenkins has broke some of our hearts talking about he getting ready to step away.

And And And somebody in here you thinking well, because I served the Lord in Luke 10 of this ministry, I ain't got to serve the Lord in John 12 of this ministry. No And And so you're saying well, some of these young people need to step up to the plate.

Some of these new members need to put their hand on the plow. But no, every ministry needs some people like Martha who's willing to serve in the beginning and continue to serve until God calls them home. And Martha is serving and when she When we see Martha in Luke 10 she's serving her little heart out.

She's sweating. SHE'S PUTTING BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS into the service. And And Mary is just chilling at the feet of Jesus. And And Martha turns to Jesus and says, "Hey Jesus, check this out. Look at this picture. I'm doing all this work. I'm cooking. I'm cleaning. I'm making sure everybody good.

And look at my sister Look at my sister Mary. She ain't doing nothing." And And you should have heard what Jesus says. Jesus says, "Martha, Martha He said, "YOU YOU'RE A BUSYBODY. YOU'RE DISTRACTED." He He says, "You're You're serving but you're serving for all the wrong reasons. Look at what your sister doing.

She's sitting at my feet. She's doing the better part." And I'm speaking to a Martha in here today. I'm glad you're serving but if you could be honest, you're serving for the all the wrong reasons. You're You're serving distracted. You're serving so that you could put yourself in position to be judgmental to other folk.

You're You're serving to compare your work with what somebody else in the ministry is doing. You're in every ministry, every service to distract yourself from the dysfunction that's going on in your own home. You're serving to compare what it is you're investing with what your neighbor is investing.

But I love what Mary what Martha does in John 12. She's still serving but right now she ain't serving from a place of distraction. She is serving from a place OF DEVOTION. SHE'S NOT SERVING TO JUDGE OTHER FOLK. SHE IS SERVING SO THAT JESUS can get all the attention.

She's not serving so that she can be seen. SHE'S SERVING SO THAT OTHER FOLK CAN SEE JESUS. And the question that I have for Martha Martha, what went down in your life? WHAT SHIFTED YOUR HEART? WHAT MOVED YOU TO GET YOU from serving from a selfish place to serving so that other folk can see Jesus?

Well, you got to scroll back to John chapter 11. And in John chapter 11, Jesus had to reset Martha. Because Martha started the chapter in John 11 concerned over her sick brother. And if you keep reading, she goes from being concerned to being grieved. She understood in John chapter 11 after she told Jesus the one you love is sick and Jesus didn't even move when she wanted him to move.

And the Bible says that after 4 days he finally shows up. And Martha learned that day that Jesus may not come when you want him but he's always on time. And Jesus changed Martha's life. She went from experiencing grief to experiencing God's glory. And anytime God takes you from grief to glory, that ought to be a reason to turn your work into worship.

And here Martha is serving because OF WHAT GOD DID FOR HER IN THE previous chapter of her life. And I got some Martha's in the room who can testify, "I'm serving IN THIS SPACE. I'M INVESTING ALL I HAVE not because I'm so great and so skilled but because God showed up IN MY SITUATION AND BROUGHT ME comfort for my grief, GAVE ME JOY FOR MY MOURNING."

DO I HAVE A witness in here? Okay. I'm preaching hard but you ain't saying amen though. Uh Your neighbor need to say amen. Let me see if I can pull one out of them real quick. Uh Couple days ago I'm I'm at the I'm at the office and I'm working real late.

Um and I'm trying to prepare a little a little sermon Pastor Jenkins and and uh as I was in the office, I was trying to print something through my printer but my printer wasn't working. It was On the display the message read that the printer cannot connect to the Wi-Fi.

And I don't know what Wi-Fi is but whatever it is, it is uh a invisible higher power. And I'm trying to get something out of the printer but it ain't connecting. And And And so And so I'm not a IT technician. I did what anybody would do. I went to YouTube University try to figure out how to get this printer to work.

And And I And And I found a video. It was like a 12-minute long video. I said, "I ain't got time for a 12-minute video on how to restart a printer." So what I did was I turned the printer off and I turned it back on. And once I turned the printer off and I turned it back on, the printer begin to serve me.

It It It begin to release what was on the inside. And I'm speaking to somebody in here today. The reason why some of us ain't serving, it may be that there's a disconnect with the higher power. And God every now and again will use a sick brother, a dead brother, a grieving situation to reset who you are and where you are with God to get you to serve what God is asking you to do.

Because when Jesus pulls up he makes all the difference. We see Martha working but wait, we see Lazarus witnessing. And I love it because Lazarus ain't doing nothing. He's not in the ministry with Martha. He's not He's not worshiping with Mary. He's just chilling with Jesus at the table.

And And And whenever you see table in scripture, table is always a reference to relationship and resources. Hebrew people were were like black folks. We don't We don't invite anybody to the table. You need a relationship. It reflects intimacy. And I love it because Lazarus is at the table with Jesus.

And I And I hear some church folk in the room complaining that that Lazarus How come Lazarus ain't helping Martha? How come he ain't worshiping with Mary? I I don't know about you but I'm just glad that the brother's at the table. Because the very fact Lazarus is at the table is a reason to praise God.

Because so many of us are so judgmental of where folk are with their walk with God. You don't know what the previous chapter had for them. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TYPE OF TRAUMATIC experience they just came out of. The very fact that Lazarus is eating with Jesus is a reason to praise God for.

And I'm speaking to some family member in here today. You got your loved one coming to church with you and the very fact that they're in the building is a reason to tell God thank you. Because your loved one in the previous chapter of their life was sick and died and put in the grave.

They were in a grave-like experience. They were in a dark, DEPRESSIVE PLACE. THEN GOD pulled up on them and called them out by name. LAZARUS! [screaming] COME FORTH! And the very ONE WHO WAS DEAD IS NOW WALKING out the grave. HE WAS IN THE GRAVE IN [screaming] CHAPTER 11. NOW HE'S AT THE TABLE IN CHAPTER 12 BECAUSE GOD BROUGHT HIM BACK AND BROUGHT LIFE FROM A DEAD.

AND NOW THAT I'M IN THE BUILDING, MY VERY PRESENCE IS A WITNESS. Not every witness needs a microphone. Not every witness needs A PLATFORM. NOT EVERY WITNESS NEEDS A IG ACCOUNT. SOME OF US, THE VERY FACT WE ARE HERE IS A INDICATION THAT GOD IS A MIRACLE WORKER.

I wonder if I GOT ANY SURVIVORS IN THE room today that can thank GOD THAT THE VERY FACT I'M HERE TODAY IS AN INDICATION THAT GOD IS STILL PERFORMING MIRACLES. OKAY. You ain't say amen cuz your your bracket got busted. I don't know about y'all, I love March Madness.

I love March Madness because I call it comeback season. Y'all see all these games? And and in every season of March Madness, there's always a team who was down by 10, 20, 30 points and work their way back up to get the victory. And here's what I discovered about a comeback.

There's always an opportunity for you to make a comeback. Regardless of how long you've been down. Regardless of how far you are down. As long as there is time left on the clock, you have an opportunity to make a comeback. And I'm speaking to somebody in the room, maybe you're online, and you've been down in depression, down with disease, down because of some divorce.

But I want to let you know that the very fact you got breath in your body, there's still time left on the clock for you to get the victory. I WONDER IF THERE'S SOMEBODY IN the room that can LOOK BACK OVER YOUR LIFE AND CAN THANK GOD I'M A SURVIVOR.

THANK GOD I MADE [screaming] IT. I WAS DOWN. I WAS DEPRESSED. I WAS MESSED UP, BUT GOD STEPPED IN AND BROUGHT JOY, BROUGHT PEACE, BROUGHT LIFE IN MY SITUATION. And Lazarus is at the table. No, no, he not serving the kids. No, he not on the usher board. No, no, he ain't made it to the men's ministry yet.

Bro just in the building. And I love it because while he's witnessing, while his sister Martha is working, check out what his other sister, Mary, does. She goes to the back room and she comes out with this expensive oil and she pours this oil on the feet of Jesus.

She lets her hair down and begins to wipe Jesus' feet with her hair. And the Bible says that the entire room was filled with the fragrance. Because one worshiper can make a difference. I love Mary's worship because Mary's worship is intentional. She came to the house knowing that I'mma get my praise on.

She didn't need a band to hype her up. She didn't need a preacher to prayer up. She didn't need no worship leader to energize her. She came into the house knowing that I'm about to cause havoc in this place. So she pulls out the oil. She pours it on Jesus' feet and I love it because this worship isn't just intentional.

This worship is sacrificial. This worship cost her something. This is a sacrificial worship that Mary is participating in because this oil that she's using is a It is a high-valued, imported, rare oil. Um one disciple says that it was worth a year's wages. Some scholars says that it was her life savings.

She poured everything she had and gave it to Jesus. I love that because because the only way she could give Jesus everything was if she had to break something. Oh, y'all uh She had to pull out the alabaster box. AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET WHAT'S ON the inside of the alabaster box is if you had to BREAK IT.

AND AFTER THE BREAKING CAME her worship. After the breaking came her pouring out. AFTER THE BREAKING CAME her sacrifice. And I'm speaking to somebody right now, you're so sacrificial with your worship because OF WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR YOU IN THE previous scenes OF YOUR LIFE. GOD HAD TO BREAK YOU.

GOD HAD TO WORK YOU. GOD HAD TO SEND YOU THROUGH GRIEF AND DEATH AND SICKNESS, BUT NOW THAT YOU'RE ON THE OTHER END, YOU'RE WILLING TO GIVE GOD EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BECAUSE GOD HAD TO BREAK YOU. OKAY. I I I told I told the first service about the gospel of the piñata.

Y'all ever heard of the gospel of the piñata? I I I just discovered it myself. I took my boys to a birthday party. We celebrated my little cousin Jackson who turned 8 years old. And after we got lit off of uh punch and cake, uh they decided to bring out the piñata.

And so they they blindfolded kids and gave kids a bat. And so my little son's off to the side trying to figure out what's going on and I had to explain to them the gospel of the piñata. I said, "Sons, the reason why your little cousins are swinging at this piñata is because there is something on the inside of the piñata that we're trying to get to.

There's some sweets and some treats on the inside of the piñata and the only way we can get to it is if we swing at it, is if we hit it, is if we stomp it, is if we put holes on it. And the more holes, the more WE HIT AT IT, THE MORE we swing at it, the more Skittles come out, the more Kit Kats come out, the more sweets AND TREATS FALL OUT OF THE PIñATA.

AND EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, GOD WILL SEND YOU through a piñata season. And I'm speaking to somebody WHO'S BEING HIT BY THE WORKFORCE, HIT BY YOUR FAMILY, HIT BY THIS WORLD, BUT I WANT TO TELL YOU THAT GOD HAS PUT SOME SWEETS AND SOME TREATS ON THE INSIDE OF HIS CHILDREN.

AND THE LONGER YOU ENDURE THE HITTING, THE MORE YOU DISCOVER THAT WEEPING MAY ENDURE FOR A NIGHT, BUT JOY COMES IN THE MORNING. CAN ANYBODY TESTIFY? YES, LIFE SWUNG AT ME, BUT NOW I'M BETTER. NOW I'M WISER. [screaming] NOW I'M STRONGER. DO I HAVE A WITNESS IN HERE? I love I love Mary's worship.

Because Mary's worship is intentional. Mary's worship is costly. But but Mary's worship is expressive. She was so dramatic with her worship. The text says she let her hair down. Y'all catch that in a minute. This wasn't no conservative worship. This wasn't no negro bougie kind of worship. She came to the house with Jesus with all the attention and she said, "I'm going to act a fool in here.

I'm going to make all the noise. I'm going to praise God until my neighbor until I get on my neighbor's nerves. I'm going to let God have it." It's an expressive worship. And you got to be careful when you come to church with an expressive worship because there may be some haters in the room that's going to hate on your worship.

I ain't talking about this church, I'm talking about my your cousin's church in Indianapolis that when they come to church and they get their praise and worship on, there's always somebody in the building that's going to have something to say about an expressive worship. And the text says that it was a disciple.

I didn't read it to you, but it's there. Judas has something to say. Of course it was Judas. Judas is going to look at Martha with her hair down, with oil all over Jesus' feet. The fragrance has filled the room. Everybody is impacted by the worship except for Judas.

Notice what Judas, the disciple, had to say. I can't believe she's doing all that. It don't take all that. All that money she spent could have been given to the poor. Now, I love what the writer John does. The writer John gives us an inside look into the heart of Judas.

And John says, "Judas didn't care about the poor." He was a thief. Because Judas was the CFO of Jesus' ministry. That when folk were giving to the ministry of Jesus, he would take some off the top and keep it for himself. And isn't it interesting that worship can irritate a disciple?

That intrigued me. Because Jesus Judas, you've been walking with Jesus for 3 years. You've heard every sermon, heard every lesson, seen every miracle. YOU WAS JUST AT THE GRAVE WHEN JESUS raised Lazarus FROM THE DEAD, AND YOU STILL GOT SOMETHING TO SAY? Because look at this disciple. He is masking his greed and his pride with compassion for the poor.

And John says, "He didn't even care about the poor." Because you can be close to the ministry and still not let it impact your heart. You can have your hands on the ministry and still won't let it impact your heart. But this is why I love Mary. Because Mary said, "I don't care what a disciple got to say.

All I need is space and opportunity to get my worship on. Because even though Judas said, 'It don't take all that.' Mary says, 'You don't KNOW WHAT IT TAKES FOR ME TO worship God.' I got a expressive praise BECAUSE GOD DID A DRAMATIC THING IN MY LIFE. HE RAISED MY BROTHER FROM THE DEAD.

THAT'S DRAMATIC. SO MY PRAISE OUGHT TO MATCH THE MOVE THAT GOD MADE IN MY LIFE. And I wonder if there's anybody THAT GOT A DRAMATIC EXPERIENCE with God. GOD BROUGHT YOU OUT THE GRAVE. GOD BROUGHT YOU OUT DEPRESSION. GOD BROUGHT YOU OUT OF THAT ABUSIVE SITUATION. YOU MIGHT AS WELL LET GOD KNOW HOW GRATEFUL YOU ARE.

OKAY. I'm done. We got one more, but can I give you one last thing? Mary's worship. I love it. Intentional. Costly. Expressive. But her worship was also prophetic. Because notice what Notice Notice what Mary is doing. She grabs the oil, pours it on Jesus' feet, lets her hair down, and gets her worship on.

Now, she's not just worshiping God because of what God did in John chapter 11. She's worshiping God because of what God is about to do. >> ((cheering)) >> Okay. I know. I I I love I I love I love preaching at churches like this because y'all just don't shout, y'all think.

So y'all saying, "Preacher, where do you see that in the text?" That Mary is worshiping Jesus because of what Jesus is about to do. Well, the text gives us a clue that she is using this pure nard, this pure oil. And scholars suggest that this oil that Mary is using to worship Jesus was used when they would finish the burial processes of their loved ones.

She took the oil that is typically used during a burial process of a loved one and put it on Jesus' feet. I love it. The same oil she would have used for her dead brother. Oh, y'all didn't read John 11. She's now using it on Jesus. And she's letting Jesus know, "I'm not just worshiping you because of what you've done.

I'm worshiping you because of what you are about to do." Because Martha and Mary knew that Jesus pulled up to Bethany, but he ain't going to stay in Bethany. HE'S JUST PASSING THROUGH BETHANY to get to Jerusalem, to get to Calvary. And I'm letting Jesus know now, BEFORE HE EVEN DOES IT, HOW GRATEFUL I AM.

BECAUSE ANYBODY can praise God over what God has done. But it takes a mature believer to praise God over what God is fixing to do. I know that's bad grammar, but it's good preaching. BECAUSE EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, WHEN I COME INTO THE SANCTUARY OF GOD, I'M NOT PRAISING GOD OVER WHAT GOD HAS DONE.

I'M PRAISING HIM BEFORE WHAT GOD GOD IS GETTING READY TO DO. Uh Uh Josh, couple weeks ago Couple weeks ago, I'm done. Couple weeks ago, my son, Jeff, he walking around the house telling everybody he going to Florida for spring break. And uh nobody told him this. We We had no spring break plans.

He He's just walking around telling everybody we going to Florida for spring break. Telling his friends we going to Florida for spring break. He The teacher asked him what everybody doing for for spring break. He said, "We going to Florida." Now, I don't know who told him this.

Me and my wife, we didn't have the heart to tell him we wasn't going. But a few weeks later, my mama hit me up and said, "Hey, we looking at taking the boys to Florida." I said, "Good, cuz Jeff is already packing his bags." He moving like he knew it was going to happen.

He's operating like he knew it was going to happen. He's talking like he knew it was going to happen. And if a 6-year-old has enough faith to move before it is done, I WONDER IF THERE'S ANYBODY IN THE ROOM TODAY THAT CAN PRAISE GOD IN ADVANCE. I'M PRAISING HIM BEFORE HE MAKES a way, BEFORE HE HEALS MY BODY, BEFORE HE DELIVERS MY CHILD.

DO I HAVE A WITNESS IN HERE TODAY? BECAUSE I'M PRAISING HIM FOR WHAT GOD IS GETTING READY TO DO. And you know what Jesus is getting ready to do. He's ready to pull up on Jerusalem on a donkey. One minute it's hosanna forever, the next minute it's crucify him.

Because Jesus shows us that these hosannas ain't loyal. They arrested Jesus. THEY FLOGGED JESUS. They beat Jesus. They put nails in HIS HAND, A SPEAR IN HIS SIDE, A CROWN OF THORNS ON HIS HEAD. THEY HUNG HIM WIDE. THEY STRETCHED HIM WIDE. [screaming] HE AUGHT HIS HEAD. FOR ME, HE DIED.

BUT THAT'S not how the story ends. Three days later, God rose HIM WITH ALL POWER in his hands. And because he lives, I CAN FACE TOMORROW. BECAUSE he lives, all fear is gone. BECAUSE I KNOW WHO OWNS the future, and life is >> ((cheering)) >> I had my share of ups and downs, times when there was no ONE AROUND.

BUT GOD GAVE THIS WORD to me that praise will confuse the enemy. So I started singing, and I STARTED CLAPPING, AND I STARTED DANCING. THE HATERS were laughing cuz THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I PAID. HELP, BUT I KNEW THAT GOD WILL TAKE IT AWAY. THAT'S WHY I PRAISE HIM WITH MY DANCE, AND I PRAISE HIM with my hands.

HE'S GIVEN ME ANOTHER CHANCE. Do I have a witness IN HERE TODAY? WHY DON'T YOU PRAISE GOD [screaming] in advance? >> ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> Y'all acting like he's done something for you. He's fixing to MAKE A WAY OUT OF NO WAY. IS ANYBODY GRATEFUL WHAT FOR WHAT HE'S ABOUT TO DO?

ANYBODY GOT A PRAISE FOR WHAT HE IS ABOUT TO DO? IT AIN'T DONE YET, BUT HE'S ABOUT TO DO IT. CAN WE JUST TAKE ABOUT 2 SECONDS AND GIVE GOD PRAISE FOR THE DOOR THAT'S ABOUT TO OPEN? >> ((cheering)) >> LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR THE WAY YOU'RE ABOUT TO MAKE.

LORD, WE BLESS YOU. HALLELUJAH. >> ((music playing)) >> HALLELUJAH. >> ((cheering)) >> HALLELUJAH. >> ((music playing)) >> HALLELUJAH. WHO IS THE KING OF GLORY? THE LORD. YEP. YEP. YEP. YEP. YEP. YEP. YEP. YEP. YEP. YEP. YEP. YEP. The preacher says when Jesus pulls ((music playing)) up ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. WHEN JESUS PULLS UP CHAINS BEGIN TO BREAK.

WHEN JESUS pulls up death becomes life. WHEN JESUS PULLS Hallelujah [screaming] to Jesus. CAN WE GIVE GOD PRAISE WITH A WORD OF GOD? Hallelujah to Jesus. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. The spirit of the living God is in this place. Jesus is here. There's somebody in here. God wants to do something for you.

But what you got to do your worship starts with relationship. And right now is a moment for you to enter into relationship, true relationship with Jesus Christ by accepting the gift of forgiveness through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And if that is you in this room and you know you need Jesus you don't just need him to move, you need him to operate in your life.

Come, come, come quickly. I know it's a big church, but ((music playing)) come. I just want to give opportunity somebody who needs Jesus say, "Look, that's me. I need to come up there. I need a relationship. I need to be forgiven." Yep, come on. Come on, that's right. Come on.

Come on, I need to be forgiven. >> ((music playing)) >> I invite him into my Bethany, into my house. I invite him The preacher said THAT HE WON'T FORCE HIMSELF ON YOU. YOU GOT TO INVITE HIM IN. And this is an invitation FOR YOU TO INVITE JESUS INTO YOUR LIFE.

COME ON, I SEE YOU. Come on. He's calling FOR YOU. HE CALLS for you. I see you. Come on. In the balcony, I don't care where you are. Come, accept Jesus right now. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. >> [singing] >> Unsaved, do you need Jesus?

You need a relationship with Jesus? You need Jesus to come into your life. Oh, watch this. Some of you are unsaved, but some of you are saved. Uh and you've turned your back on God. You you have allowed your circumstance. Here it is. You have allowed your circumstance to dictate your response to life.

There's some people in here that depression rules your life. Alcoholism rules your life. Sex rules your life. And this is a moment where you can say, "I'm done with submitting to the spirit, the demonic spirits that have been overtaking me, and I choose to turn back to Jesus."

If that's you, if you're sick OF LIVING IN DEATH COME NOW, REDEDICATE YOURSELF, REFOCUS. Come now, make your way say, "Excuse me, I got to go. That's me. I need to turn back to Jesus." I don't care if you're in the top tier, I don't care if you're on the floor.

Come now. Or if you're unsure you don't know if you are saved or not, you don't know where you will spend eternity, come. Or if you need a church home, you know you're supposed to belong to this church. You've been coming here dating us for too long. And you need to commit yourself and become a part of this family.

I said this at the 8:00. I know this is a mega church but the thing about a mega church is when you get connected and involved the church shrinks. There's families in here. There's communities. There's small groups. There's ministry members in here. These young adults, they are fam We family.

If that's you, come now. Come on. Yep, I see you. That's right. Come on. I know it's a big ROOM, BUT YOU GOT TO PUSH THROUGH THE YOU GOT TO PUSH THROUGH THE PAIN. PUSH THROUGH THE PRIDE. AIN'T NOBODY GOT NO HEAVEN OR HELL TO PUT you in.

COME NOW. COME RIGHT NOW. >> ((music playing)) >> COME RIGHT NOW. HE CALLS for you. HE CALLS FOR YOU. HE CALLS FOR YOU. All right. Now turn to the right or your left. Are they coming? Yep, I see you, bro. Yep, yep, we waiting on you. We waiting on you.

We waiting on you. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. ((music playing)) Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. >> ((music playing)) >> All right. Amen. God bless you. Last thing I want y'all to do, turn to the right or your left say, "I know it's a big room, but are you supposed to be up there?

You need to accept forgiveness of sin. Put your faith in Jesus. You need to rededicate." Ushers, tell them, "I'll walk with you." And bring them up here. Don't don't let them Don't let them leave out of here today without coming up here. Say, "I'll walk with you." If you want to go, "I'LL WALK WITH YOU."

That's right. Come on, that's all right. Say, "I'll walk with you. I'll take your hand. I'll walk with you." Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Can we give God praise for for all these? >> [applause and music] >> Yep, I see you. They're still coming. Wait, even the even the children are coming.

Even the children are coming. That's right. It's all right. That's all right. That's all right. I'm proud of you, young man. I'm proud of you, young sister. I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you. They're still coming. They're still coming. That's right. Come on.

That's right. They're still coming, y'all. Come on now. That's right. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. COME ON. COME ON. >> [music and singing] >> YEP. I see they're still coming, y'all. Y'all still keep praying. Keep praying. I see you, brother. I see you. I see you. Come on.

Don't stop. Y'all ain't got to stop coming. Come on. Come on. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Come on. Yep, we'll wait for you to get down here. We'll wait for you to get down here. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. THIS IS WHAT'S HAPPENING.

This is what's happening. Listen. Listen. And the only people are The only people that are mad right now are are are are like Judas. The Holy Spirit is what Come on. Yep, keep giving them Yep, yep, come on. I see you. AIN'T NOBODY MAD BUT THE DEVIL. >> ((music playing)) ((applause)) >> The Holy Spirit is working.

Amen. Amen. Pastor Jay said when Jesus when Jesus pulls up Jesus pulled up on us today so that you could pull up on him. >> ((applause)) >> And when you pull up on Jesus your life will never be the same. Amen. All right. Well, listen. Make sure everybody has somebody touching your shoulder.

We want to make sure everybody's covered. These people behind you are all the counselors. I think we might need Let me see. What we need? We need a male altar counselor. If y'all are altar counselor certified up here and you're a male, y'all go Y'all are released. Y'all can go down.

Oh, we got one. Okay. All right. Is everybody got somebody touching their back? I just want to make sure everybody's covered. We're good. Okay. Listen, the person behind you is a altar counselor. They're going to take you into a regular room back there. But when you come out of that regular room, you ain't going to be regular.

The Holy Spirit is going to come and meet you where you are. Amen. Your life will never be the same. I'm so proud of you, okay? The Bible says if you confess with your mouth, believe in your heart the Lord Jesus Christ, you shall be saved. Amen. So, God knows where you are.

You know what they stand in the need of, whether they rededicating, whether God you are entering into their lives for the first time, or they're going to join this church. Lord, we just love you, we bless you. Cover them, keep them, save them in Jesus' name. We declare glory, honor, and victory.

Yes, the kind of week you can clap. It's okay. I I don't know I don't know I don't I don't expect all of you to do it.

I don't want you all to do it. But, this particular this service, the 10:00 service, is the most packed service. So, those who are able to come to Saturday or 6:00 a.m. 6:00 a.m. was packed, too, but if you can I'm not I'm not asking you to stay home.

Look at your neighbor, say, "He's not asking you to stay home." I want you to pray for your your friends, your relatives, your acquaintances, neighbors, and coworkers to come meet Jesus. And the way that joker preached today, I might have to ask him to come back and preach Saturday next week.
