Jenkins Sr. If you are joining us, we are so happy to have you. So, as we get prepared for service, go ahead and drop in the chat and let us know where you are joining us from.

Rep your city, rep your state, rep your area code. And for our international folks, go ahead and rep your country as well. My name is Leah Selena Dorsey and I have the honor in serving at this house as the Inspire Ministry Director, which creates the online content for the ID Young Adults.

I'm still here. I still love you." I'm just wondering, do we have people who are willing to say, "I'm going to stick with the Lord whatever the cost, whatever the conviction." I don't know where y'all are, but he done done too much for me to turn my back on him.

He done HE DONE TOO MANY DOORS HE'S OPENED. TOO MANY PRAYERS HE'S ANSWERED. TOO MANY MIRACLES THAT HE HAS WORKED. TOO MANY THINGS HE HAS DONE ON MY BEHALF. I WILL NOT SACRIFICE OR COMPROMISE. I [screaming] AM PERSUADED. I will stick to the end. And what another amazing word from our Pastor Jenkins, talking about the mission of gospel and how the first act of God's command is to be obedient.

So, I really thought that was good and just getting baptized, not to be saved, but because we are saved and because what he did for us, making us inviting us into our his kingdom and his salvation, so we are secured in Christ. So, I thought it was amazing.

I'm happy to be secured. I don't know about y'all. I I mean, cuz woo, if we were in the world, God help us all. We going to be all over the place. >> [laughter] >> All right. >> So, if you want to watch that um service again, you can always go to our website, which is fbcglennarden.org/give for the message.

I love me some praise and worship. >> And then, we do have a guest pastor today and I know he's going to be a great word because whenever Pastor is not up there, he makes sure we got a good one in the whole house. >> cuz they be trying to take his job and he ain't ready to retire yet.

Not [laughter] yet. We got a couple more years, he said. >> So, yeah, just like the whole experience is just amazing to be a part of. Even serving too, like just feeling that spirit. It's just It's just a blessing. >> blessing. It's a blessing for us to be here serving you guys online.

To all who call upon him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry and save them. The Lord preserves all who love him. But all the wicked he will destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord. >> ((music playing)) >> And all flesh shall bless his holy name forever and ever.

Amen. Let us pray. Father >> [snorts] >> God, we thank you for this day. This new beginning you've allowed us to see. You chose to breathe life into us. So for that and everything else, God, we give you praise. God, would you fill this place with your presence? Make it ever so known.

Would you have your way in this service? Speak to us as only you can through the preached ((music playing)) word. Through the song. Let everything work well. And even if it doesn't, we know in your sovereignty you've got it all figured out and worked out. So we still give that to you.

Would you have your way? In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. ((music playing)) We'd like to take a moment in our service, this is one of my favorite times where we can welcome our first-time guests. And so we say, "Hey, welcome." If you're online, go ahead and put a one in the chat that our online digital disciples will be able to just connect with you.

For everyone else, we just want to let you know here at First Baptist, you could have come anywhere else. We are developing dynamic disciples through discipleship, discipline, and duplication. And I'm only talking long enough to let everybody get in the room so that we can hug one another.

Because I believe everybody needs a hug today. Amen. It's the little things we don't realize that matter. And so on behalf of our pastor, first lady, and the leadership of our church, we just want to tell you welcome. So now, First Baptist, you know what we do. And if you don't, you'll get with the program shortly.

Go ahead and love on one another as we love on our first-time guests. >> ((music playing)) [singing] ((music playing)) ((music playing)) [singing] ((music playing)) [music and singing] ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) [music and singing] ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> This is FBCG News. >> ((music playing)) >> Be a disciple and make a disciple. It's okay. It's okay. Here's another opportunity. It's giving time. Okay, there we go. There we go.

First Baptist, you guys are amazing givers, amazing, amazing givers. I know we tell you all the time, but we really do mean it. Because we don't mean what we don't say here. And so for that we say thank you. Listen, there are a uh numeral amount of ways, number of amount of ways that you can give um you can give online.

Uh you can give in person and you can mail it in. Right? So you can give online at fbcglenarden.org/give. Number of ways there. Then you can give in person. There is an envelope in the seat back pocket in front of you. If there is not one, ask your neighbor or ask the ushers and they'll get it to you.

We do take cash and good checks. Sometimes you got to make it plain, good checks. And then you can mail it in if you'd like to 3600 Brightseat Road in Landover, Maryland in case you were wondering. Amen. So, if you've got your giving together or if you've done it on your phone, let's just let's give it to God.

Jesus, we thank you. God, we honor you with our gifts. Something that you asked for in return. Because you've already provided so much for us. And so God, we ask that you would bless it, that you would be pleased by our gifts. That God, as we give them to you, we look for nothing in return because you've already provided.

You've already taken care such good care of us like a good father does. And so now God, would you though take these offerings and these gifts, these tithes, God, and use it to expand your kingdom as only you know how to do? In Jesus' name we ((music playing)) pray. Amen. >> [screaming] >> Praise the Lord, EVERYBODY. >> ((cheering)) >> I SAID PRAISE THE LORD, EVERYBODY.

There we go. >> ((music playing)) >> I've been in pain for so long. >> ((music playing)) >> Yeah. I've been in chains for so long. I needed a change for so long. >> [singing] >> But I say to my past, so long. So long, bye-bye, cuz I'm free from the oaks and the bonds ((music playing)) of the enemy.

You died on the cross for my sins. Lord, you set me free. I'm no longer afraid ((music playing)) or ashamed when I call your name. All my sins are washed away with thy blood. That's why I'm ((music playing)) telling you I'm so >> ((music playing)) >> Glad that I'm saved. Amen. >> ((music playing)) >> I am so glad I am >> ((music playing)) >> Glad that I'm saved.

Saved. >> ((music playing)) [singing] >> Everybody clap your hands. Are ((music playing)) you glad that you're saved? >> ((music playing)) >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. He saved me from fear. >> ((music playing)) >> HE SAVED ME FROM ANXIETY.

He saved me from depression. >> ((music playing)) >> Are you glad that you're saved? For I'm giving ((music playing)) honor to the HEAD OF MY LIFE. HE'S MY LORD AND SAVIOR, >> ((music playing)) >> Jesus Christ. His name is Jesus. >> ((music playing)) >> I SAID THEY HUNG HIM HIGH AND THEY STRETCHED HIM WIDE. I SAID HE ((music playing)) HUNG HIS HEAD.

For me, he died. BUT THAT'S NOT HOW IT ENDS. >> ((music playing)) >> I said the story ends. But three days later, >> ((music playing)) >> he rose again. I said he rose with all power. I said he rose with all power >> [music and singing] >> in his hand. >> ((music playing)) [singing] [music and singing] ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> Everybody sing now.

Say amen. >> ((music playing)) ((cheering)) >> Anybody glad that you're saved today? I said is any I know I'm glad. Is anybody glad that you're saved today? The song says life now is sweet and my joy is complete.

((music playing)) Say life now >> [singing] ((music playing)) >> Come on, say it. Life now Is that your testimony this morning? If that's your testimony, wave your hand in here. Anybody glad to be saved?

Look, look, look, look, look, listen, listen. You may not, but that's okay cuz the opportunity is coming. Do me a favor, direct your attention to the screen and be open to the word that's coming forth. Amen. Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson II, affectionately known as Pastor J, is a dynamic voice for this generation, ((music playing)) passionately committed to changing the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Before stepping into his current role, he served faithfully as associate pastor of preaching and teaching and previously as senior pastor of Pilgrim ((music playing)) Missionary Baptist Church, where he led transformative growth and built a thriving, engaged community. Known for his artistic ((music playing)) and poetic approach, Pastor J brings scripture to life, bridging ancient truth with today's culture in a way that inspires all generations.

((music playing)) He's a national preacher, conference leader, author, and devoted family man, joyfully married to Janelle and father to three sons. First Baptist, please stand and let's welcome Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson II. Well, this is the day that the Lord has made. We shall rejoice and be glad in it.

Anybody excited to be in the house of the Lord one more time? That's why the scripture say I was glad when they said unto me, let us go to the First Baptist ((music playing)) Church of Glen Arden. Can we praise God for the goodness and grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?

And let's keep that praise going for your pastor, Pastor John K. Jenkins Sr. One of the great ones to ever do it. Matter of fact, turn to your neighbor and tell them he the goat. That's the goat right there. He the goat. Yeah, he the goat. Yeah. This city is better, this state is better, this country, this world is better because Pastor John K.

Jenkins said yes. And we praise God for his ministry and his humility. And so good to see how God is continuing to take him for faith to faith and from glory to glory. And can we praise God for your first lady in her absence, my auntie, Auntie Trina.

We praise God for her as well, who's a leader in her own right. And then what can we say about about Reverend Joshua Jenkins? That's my boy right there. I'm grateful for how God is is using him. And him and his wife Danny have been such a good friend and support system to me and my wife Janelle.

And we're grateful to see how God is going to take them to the next level. And and I and I told Pastor John Jenkins he need to put a book out about parenting cuz I need I need help with these kids try to figure out how can I raise some leaders and some anointed kids?

They whole family is anointed. And shout out to the whole Jenkins clan and the whole Jenkins empire. You truly You guys are truly a blessing. Um can we praise God for for the young adults who've been serving all day long? They've been grinding all day. And they've been truly a blessing.

Truly a blessing to us. All right, family, can you meet me in Psalms 150? Psalms 150. And I'mma read a few verses to get us started today out of Psalms 150. I have the New International version. They lynched my Lord yesterday, took him off a tree and they put him in the grave.

Romans sealed Peter and them boys run away cuz they afraid. Tore the temple from top to bottom. No more holy holies, we get access to the Father. Pulled up to the gates of hell, preached a revival. Took captivity captive, made death suicidal. Not a problem cuz early Sunday morning got up from the grave with all power like a socket.

Old devil, you lost that thing. He let freedom ring. Sin can't hold us down. Resurrection is our daily reminder that the tomb is empty. Psalms 150, are you there yet? I'm just kind of killing some time till you get there. Ask your neighbor, you there? You there? Will y'all pray with me?

Lord, let the words of my mouth for the meditations of our hearts, let them be acceptable in your sight, for you are our strength, you are our redeemer. In Jesus' name ((music playing)) we pray. Amen. Amen. Psalms 150, verse one says, "Praise the Lord." Amen. You may be seated in the presence of the Lord.

I want to speak from this thought, total praise. Total praise. I know we in March Madness, but I can't wait for the NFL to come back. And I love football season because I love the fact when a player scores a touchdown and they celebrate, I love all the celebrations and the dancing in the end zone.

I I love to see the cool celebration that one of the NFL players does. In fact, I remember watching a game not too long ago and and this man had had ran almost the full 100 yards. He navigated folk trying to bring him down, navigated schemes that were set up against them.

He navigated the haters that was after him. And when he finally made his goal, he celebrated. He danced. And then there was a flag on the play. And the referee got to the mic and said, uh "Excessive celebration. Unsportsmanlike conduct. Excessive celebration." I don't know if y'all know this, but there's a rule in the NFL where they let you celebrate, but you can't really celebrate like that.

If a referee deems it to be extra or too much, they'll throw a flag on the play and say, "Unsportsmanlike conduct. Excessive celebration." And they deck the team 15 yards and it and it ruined the whole experience because there was somebody that hated on the celebration. But I'm so glad in the kingdom of God that there's no such thing as excessive celebration.

You can come to church and make all the noise you want to make. >> [cheering and applause] >> Now, there are some people who will be like a referee and try to throw flags on the play. They tell you it don't take all that. They being too dramatic. Why they so extra?

But you got to let the hater know you don't know what God has brought me out of. >> ((cheering)) >> And because God didn't halfway delivered me, God totally delivered me, the right response is a total praise. >> ((applause)) >> I like that, don't you? This is essentially what the writer of Psalms 150 is trying to get us to understand.

The psalmist is giving us a full comprehensive explanation on what praise ought to be about. Psalms 150 is one of five songs on the playlist towards the end of this hymn book we call Psalms. It's one of five beginning in Psalms 146. They're called the Hallelujah songs. Psalms 146, Psalms 147, Psalms 148, Psalms 149, Psalms 150 all start and end with that same line, "Praise the Lord."

And Psalms 150 is the conclusion of the conclusion. It gives us a total praise. It gives us a comprehensive, practical, inside look on what praise ought to be about. And so as we peruse through the pericope today, I want to give you a few a few things. I want to give you where you ought to praise God, why you ought to praise God, how you ought to praise God, and who is qualified to praise God.

Y'all don't mind if I give y'all that real quick then we can go home and watch some basketball. Okay. Where we praise God is right there in the text. The Bible helps us to understand that when you praise the Lord, praise God in his sanctuary. Praise him in his mighty heavens.

I love this because this this song, some scholars suggest, was written in the post-exilic times. It was when the children of Israel had been freed from 70 years of bondage in Babylon. They had been in bondage under the oppressive, narcissistic, violent king in King Nebuchadnezzar. God finally set them free.

And now they're headed back to Jerusalem. And the first thing they wanted to do was to rebuild that sanctuary. That sanctuary was the room that had been set apart. It had been set aside if to do nothing but to worship God in spirit and in truth. If If to do nothing but to praise God for what God has done and for who God is.

It is the sanctuary. That's why the psalmist says, "I praise God in his sanctuary." Because after all the hell I just went through, after everything that God has brought me out of, the first place I want to get to is the sanctuary of God. I love that because the children of Israel, the sanctuary to them was their headquarters.

That was not just the religious place for them. That was where their social life came from. Everything that flowed out of their life came from the sanctuary of God. And even in the midst of everything that the sanctuary represented for them, it was the place where they could get their praise on.

It was the place where they can clap their hands, oh ye people, and shout unto God with a voice of triumph. It was the place where they could bless the Lord at all times. And when my and in my mouth his praise will continually be in my mouth.

It was the sanctuary of God that anytime you want to come to praise God and to give God thanks, you're always welcome into the sanctuary. And I love that because even in black culture, the sanctuary has become everything for us. In the sanctuary, the sanctuary has evolved to more than just a place where we worship God.

It's become a facility that has to be maintained. It's become a organization that has to be led. It's become a fashion so show for some of us. It's become a place where we can meet and greet some folk we want to get to know a little better. It's become a place where we can give our complaints about what's wrong.

It's a place where people can get their needs met, food distributed. It's become a lot of things for a lot of people. But one thing we need to remember, even as we evolve and go viral and trends come and go, one thing that needs to be consistent is that this is the sanctuary of God.

That whenever you've gone through all of the hell that you face, when you're coming to your sanctuary, you can enter his courts with praise and give thanks unto him and bless his name. I wonder if there's anybody real quick that can thank God, I'm glad that I made it to the sanctuary of God to get my praise on because my neighbor don't know what I had to do just to get here today.

SO SINCE I'M HERE, I'MMA TELL GOD, "Thank you." I love it because it's not I'm not just praising God in his sanctuary. I'm praising God in his mighty heavens. I like that language. In other words, I'm praising God even when I leave the church. Even when benediction is over, I still got a praise on my heart.

Even when the keyboard is unplugged and the lights turn out, I still got a thank you Jesus on my mind. Because I don't need the church to get my praise on. I can praise God in his mighty heavens. Yeah, because you know, we live in a time where atheists will try to make us think that there's a God that that God doesn't exist.

And they'll try to prove to us their argument that that that there is no God, that God doesn't exist. But wait a second, the psalmist says, "We praise him in his mighty heavens." In other words, the trees are reflection of his goodness. The stars that shine in the sky is a reflection that there's a God somewhere.

The grass that grows is evidence that God is real. So even when I can't make it to the sanctuary, I got a remote kind of praise. I can worship God wherever I am. Uh and that's good news to know because there are seasons in which life starts life-ing and there are moments where you can't make it to the sanctuary.

I know we try to judge folk for not coming into the sanctuary, but there are moments where you can't get to the sanctuary. You got to take care of your loved one. You you're going through some issues. Your children are traveling for sports. You're in a hospital somewhere.

You're locked up somewhere. You can't get to the sanctuary of God. But isn't it good news to know that we serve a God that will meet you right where you are? That even when I can't pull up the First Baptist, wherever I am, I can tell God, "Thank you."

Wherever I am, I can offer up my praise and let God know how grateful I am. When you don't see me in the sanctuary, don't trip because I'm still getting my praise on somewhere TO LET GOD KNOW how grateful I am. Okay. Your neighbor didn't say amen. I love coming to DC cuz I like being a tourist a little bit.

And it was so cold yesterday, I couldn't be a tourist. So me me and my little bro my my bro Jordan, we ended up going to the to the museum, to the African American History Museum. And uh and and and and I love it because that first floor is a heavy floor.

Ooh, that first floor is heavy. Bringing tears to my eyes to see how how millions of our ancestors were kidnapped from the west coast of Africa, brought over to the east coast of America, not on cruise ships, but on slave ships where they made it illegal for us to read and to write.

They made it illegal for us to get married. They made it illegal for us to gather amongst ourselves with more than five people. They made it illegal for us to have church without white supervision. But you should have seen your ancestors sneaking off on the plantation, off in the woods somewhere, and they called it hush harbors where they would sing their songs of praise and they would preach their sermons of freedom and they would encourage each other even in chains and even on the plantation and even in slavery, under the stars of the sky, they got their praise on because our ancestors taught us that you don't need no building to get your praise on.

I'll praise God on my way to work. I'll praise God in my cubicle. I'll praise God at the hospital bed. I'll praise GOD BEHIND [screaming] THE JAIL CELL. I WONDER IF THERE'S ANYBODY WITH A FAITH STRONG ENOUGH TO LET THE hater know THAT EVEN THOUGH I CAN'T GET TO THE BUILDING, I STILL GOT A HALLELUJAH ON my heart.

Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary. Praise him in his mighty heavens. I love it because I I I know I passed in a generation they'll say something like this, Josh, "You ain't got to go to church to be a Christian." Yeah, but if you're a Christian, you might want to go to somebody's church.

This is where we grow. This is where we get equipped. This is where we see the testimonies of the saints. Matter of fact, you're sitting by a miracle right now. And the longer you look at your neighbor, the more confident you'll be that if God can do it for them, God will mess around and do it for me, too.

That's why you come to the house of God because the house of God is like a huddle. You come and get what you need to face the hell that you got to go through in life. You know what a huddle is, right? In football, regardless of the level, from peewee to the professionals, every level has a huddle.

That before they break to make a play, they gather together on the field for the huddle. And in the huddle, they encourage each other. In the huddle, they remind each other of the game plan. In the huddle, they let each other know, "We got this. We can do this."

They break the huddle, go out into the field, make a play in order for them to get their goal. But every now and again, in the NFL, sometimes you don't get to the huddle. They call it no huddle offense. They try to catch the defense off guard. WE AIN'T GOT TIME to come to the huddle, BUT WE'RE GOING to still get this play.

But the problem is so many of us try to live a no huddle offense life. And if a offense is solely dependent ON A NO HUDDLE, THEY won't be able to experience the victory. So every now and again, I got to come to the huddle to get reminded of the game plan, to get encouraged from my teammates so that we can break the huddle, navigate the hell we got to face so we can walk out with the victory.

And I know somebody in the room can testify, I thank God for the sanctuary because if it had not been for the sanctuary, I would have lost my mind a long time ago. I would have gave up on my family, would have gave up on my dreams. But I thank it was at THE CHURCH WHERE I FIRST SAW THE LIGHT AND THE BURDENS OF MY HEART, THEY ROLLED AWAY.

BUT IT WAS THERE BY FAITH I RECEIVED MY SIGHT. Anybody happy all the day BECAUSE YOU MESSED AROUND AND CAME TO THE SANCTUARY. OKAY. Praise the Lord. Where do we praise the Lord? In his sanctuary. We can praise the Lord in his mighty heavens. But can I tell can I tell you why you ought to praise the Lord?

The text says we ought to praise the Lord for his acts of power. Oh man, I thought y'all would praise the Lord right there. Y'all must forgot about the acts of power. When you praise God for his acts of power, you are praising God for what God has done.

And I told you this is the children of Israel writing this. So they know they know about God's resume. They they know what God has done for them. They know that when their ancestors was in Egypt, it was God that set them free. It was his acts of power that when they were at the beach of the Red Sea with Pharaoh behind them, it was the Lord that made a highway out of the Red Sea.

That when they got on the other side, it was the Lord that led THEM BY FIRE BY NIGHT BY CLOUD BY DAY. IT'S HIS ACTS OF POWER THAT GAVE MANNA FROM on high. It was HIS ACTS OF POWER THAT PROTECTED THEM from dangers and the enemies. It was HIS ACTS OF POWER THAT ESTABLISHED THEM IN THE promised land.

That gave them kingship through David and Solomon. It was the Lord's acts of power that made it happen. And so now that God has delivered them once again through his acts of power from Babylon and exile, when they come into the sanctuary of God, they understood that I'm praising God for his acts of power.

Oh, y'all y'all ain't saying nothing. Okay, I told y'all went to the museum yesterday and all I seen was the acts of power of God. How God delivered us from slavery, how God took us from the plantation, how God covered us through reconstruction, how God protected us through all the dangers and the hells and the lynchings and the injustices, how God protected us through the Tuskegee experiment, how God protected us through Katrina, how God protected us through mass incarceration, how God protected us through the civil rights movement, HOW GOD SHOWED UP AND MADE A way even with drugs in our community, EVEN WITH OPPRESSION AND PAIN, GOD PULLED UP AND DISPLAYED HIS ACTS OF POWER.

And you don't even have to go through your history books. Just look at your own life. Just go through your own archives and reflect on the acts of power of God. Has God healed you? Has God made a way? Did God bring you out? Did God break every chain?

TELL ((cheering)) YOUR NEIGHBOR, THAT'S THE ACTS of power of God. I wouldn't be HERE TODAY WITHOUT HIS ACTS of power. Tell your neighbor, praise the Lord. Why? Cuz of his acts of power. But I love the psalmist right here. Because the psalmist is like, "Yo, anybody can praise God over his acts of power."

I don't just praise God for his acts of power. I praise God for his excellent greatness. Ooh, that's good right there. Because his acts of power is what he's done. His excellent greatness is who he is. >> ((cheering)) >> So, even when my situation ain't seen the acts of power just yet, when I come into the sanctuary, my praise ain't predicated off of what he's done.

My praise is predicated off of who he is. Because anybody can praise God over what God has done, but it takes a mature believer with a testimony that can praise GOD OVER WHO GOD IS. >> ((cheering)) >> It's his excellent greatness. In other words, God is the goat. And even when I have yet to see his mighty hand pull up in my life, I still got a praise on my heart.

Not just because of what he's done, but I'm praising him for who he is. Um I was watching this this documentary on Netflix following Katrina, Hurricane Katrina that that took place there in New Orleans. And the thing about Katrina wasn't just the storm, it was the impact that the storm had.

It was it was our nation's response to the storm. And those who who were able to leave New Orleans during that time, who could afford to leave, they left, but then there were there were the low-income families who didn't have the funds to get out. And it wasn't just the storm that took them out, but it was the impact, it was the flooding.

It was the disease and the sickness, it was the fact that they couldn't afford food, couldn't afford clean water, couldn't afford to get out their homes. And and many of them made their way to the Superdome in an attempt to finally get out of the city. They thought that there that help was going to come.

And while they were stuck in the Superdome, there were folk dying all around them. It was it was dark, the light the power went out. And and while the people were waiting on God's act of power, the video shows that there were some folk that were singing in the Superdome.

They were singing This Little Light of Mine. I'm going to let it They were singing songs of praise and worship even in the storm, even dealing with death, even surrounded by darkness, while they were waiting on the acts of power to show up, they were singing about his excellent greatness.

They were singing songs like Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found, blind, but now I see. And that inspired me because even while I walk through my own valley of the shadow of death, and even while I face MY OWN DEPRESSION, AND EVEN while I grieve the loved ONES THAT I HAVE TO GRIEVE, I can still come into the sanctuary of God with praise on my heart TO LET GOD KNOW HOW GRATEFUL I AM, NOT JUST FOR WHAT HE'S DONE, BUT FOR WHO GOD IS.

And this next praise ISN'T FOR WHAT GOD HAS DONE, BUT THIS NEXT PRAISE IS FOR WHO GOD IS. I WONDER if there's anybody real quick THAT CAN PRAISE GOD over who he is. He's a miracle worker. He's a promise keeper. He's a light in the darkness. GRANDMAMA SAID, "HE'S GOOD ALL THE TIME, [screaming] AND ALL THE TIME."

SOMEBODY OUGHT TO PRAISE GOD FOR HIS EXCELLENT GREATNESS. But wait. I I I told you it's total praise. He gives us where we ought to praise God. He gives us why we ought to praise God. But but but then he gives us how we ought to praise God.

I love this part of of the text because notice notice what he says in in Psalms 150. He says that we're going to praise him with the sounding of the trumpet. Praise him with the heart and lyre. Praise him with the timbrel and the dancing. Praise him with strings and pipe.

Praise him with clash of cymbals. Praise him with the resounding cymbals. Y'all see that? How do you praise God? With some noise. >> ((cheering)) >> Whether your noise sound like a trumpet, whether your noise sound like a harp, whether your noise sound like a lyre, whether your noise sound like a tambourine, right on cue, sis, because the Bible lets us know that we ought to praise God with some noise.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye land. Serve the Lord with gladness. Do I have a witness in here today? And notice, I love it. Notice the instruments that are listed. I ain't got time to go through all of them, but I love the trumpet. Because the trumpet back in the day was used in times of war.

It was used to let the community know that the war is about to pop off or the war just ended. And notice what God does. God redeems the trumpet from a place of warfare to a place of worship. I love it because if God can redeem a trumpet, surely he can redeem some of us.

Okay. It's like uh I think it was was it last year, a couple years ago, when GloRilla won the Bobby Jones BET Gospel Award. And y'all church folk was upset. Y'all was mad. Who in the world gave GloRilla the Bobby Jones BET Gospel Award? I love it because while we're arguing about CCM and gospel, notice what God does.

God pulls up to the hood of Memphis and takes a young girl who was born and raised in the trenches, redeems her music to make impact for the kingdom. And if God can redeem a GloRilla song, I don't care what hell you faced, I don't care what kind of abuse you were in, I don't care how much weed you smoke, how much drink you drank, how many bodies is on your list, because if God can redeem GloRilla, surely God can redeem a sinner.

PAUL SAID, "I'M THE WORST SINNER OF THEM ALL, BUT GOD HAS BEEN GOOD." AND BECAUSE GOD HAS REDEEMED ME, I GOT A LOUD PRAISE IN MY HEART. >> [screaming] >> DO I HAVE A WITNESS IN HERE TODAY? I WONDER if there's about 100 GloRillas in the room that can THANK GOD THAT DESPITE OF MY PAST, GOD HAS REDEEMED ME for his glory.

He redeems the trumpet, but he's using the harp, he's using the lyre, he's using the tambourine, he's using the dance, he's using a variety of instruments to give God praise. And because that's why we come into the sanctuary. We don't come to the sanctuary cuz we all the same.

We come to the sanctuary cuz we all different. But we all serving the same God. Now, your neighbor may not be loud like a trumpet. They may be soft like a harp. They may not have rhythm to dance, but they can shake that tambourine. But we ain't judging folk from where they came from because we all serve the same God. >> ((applause)) >> And I love these I love these musicians in the text because notice we don't know the names of the musicians.

All we know is what they were playing. Because so many of us in this modern-day church, you know, we don't show up unless our name is on the flyer. Unless we got a reserved seat. Unless we own the platform. Unless we are acknowledged and recognized for the hard work that we've done.

But here are these musicians. We don't know their name. All we know is that they came to serve and play and praise God. And they're giving God praise with what is in their hand. They came out of exile, but they still got a praise on their heart because this is a total praise.

I love it because the text gives us not just how, but the text gives us who's qualified to praise. I know I didn't read it to you, but it's there. Notice what the text says. Praise him with a sound of trumpet. Praise him with a harp. Praise him with a lyre.

Praise him with a timbrel and dancing. Praise him with the strings and pipes. Praise him with the clash of the cymbals. Praise him with the resounding cymbals. Here it is. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. I think your neighbor missed it cuz they ain't saying nothing.

Even if you don't know how to play the trumpet. Even if you don't know how to play the harp. Even if you ain't got a rhythm with your feet to dance. The psalmist says as long as I got breath in my body, that qualifies me to get my praise on.

I don't need to fill out a form. I don't need to take a class. I don't need to go to seminary. The very fact I can inhale and exhale is A INDICATION THAT GOD HAS some things in store for me and I can get my praise on. ((music playing)) Do I have a witness in here today?

Okay. >> ((music playing)) >> I know I know hold on. I know what it is. Your neighbor still ain't moving cuz they don't know what breath mean. >> ((cheering)) >> Breath Breath in the Hebrew is uh is spirit. It's the same word that when God pulled up on the darkness of the earth, he shaped and formed Adam.

And the text says he breathed into him the breath of life and the man became a living soul. He says that when that breath that spirit of God that is in you, the psalmist says let everything that have wind praise the Lord. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Let everything that has the spirit of God moving and breathing in you praise the Lord. >> ((cheering)) >> You're still not saying amen. I told you that Psalms 150 is the conclusion of the conclusion. It's almost like the psalmist went back through the archives of the book of Psalms, through the hymn book to see what the other writers had written about to to root his praise in because the praise is not rooted in church slogans and sayings.

His praise is rooted in an experience that he's had with God. It's almost like he went to Psalms 3 where the psalmist said I was surrounded by my enemies. In Psalms 22, he felt like the Lord had forsaken him. IN PSALMS 38, HE CRIED OUT IN SICKNESS and shame.

In Psalms 51, HE CRIED OUT FOR repentance because of sin. In Psalms 73, he felt LIKE HIS FOOT ALMOST SLIPPED. In Psalms 88, DARKNESS BECAME HIS BEST FRIEND. IN PSALMS 137, HE'S [crying] in exile. But in Psalms 150, he looked back over his life and thanked God that despite of the exile, despite of the enemies, despite of death, DESPITE OF DARKNESS, I STILL GOT MY AND AS LONG as I got my breath, I'm going to give God praise.

Do I have a witness in here? >> ((music playing)) >> I'm done. I got to go. Can I tell you a story? Can I tell y'all a quick story? I'll promise I'll let you go. In 2014 In 2014, this happened in Atlanta, Georgia. Little boy around 19 years old, he got kidnapped from from his front porch.

And uh the driver threw him in the car and he was riding around the city of Atlanta and he had been disconnected from his family, disconnected from his home. And little boy said little boy Johnny said I was scared out of my mind. And they and they asked they asked little Johnny while he was riding around in Atlanta, uh what did you do when you were when you were kidnapped by the enemy?

What did you do when you were when you were disconnected from your home and disconnected from your parents? And little Johnny said I did what I only knew how to do. I started singing in the backseat. And they asked little Johnny, well, what did you sing? He said I sang Hezekiah Walker every praise is to my God.

Every word of worship on one accord. Every praise. Every praise is to my God. And little Johnny said what they they said little Johnny, what happened? He said the more I sang, the more frustrated the driver became. He said I was singing every praise and the driver was saying, shut up back there.

Every praise is to my God. SHUT YOUR MOUTH BACK THERE. BUT HE SAID I JUST kept singing and I just kept praising and the longer I sang, the more frustrated he became till he pulled over and let me go. And Johnny taught us all a lesson. That when you find yourself in bondage, when you find yourself locked down, when you FIND YOURSELF IN CHAINS, keep singing TO GOD AND YOUR praise will set you free. >> ((cheering)) >> Do I have a witness in here today?

Won't your praise set you free? Tell somebody this is a total praise. He's the source of my strength. He's the strength of my life. I lift my hands in total praise. Thank you, God. SOMEBODY OUGHT TO PRAISE GOD WITH YOUR TOTAL PRAISE. Did God totally bring you out?

Did God totally deliver you? Well, why don't you give your God 30 seconds of a total praise in here? >> ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> I I got a praise. I got a praise and I got to get it out. I got a praise. Help me say yeah. >> ((music playing)) >> I got a praise.

I got a praise >> [singing] >> and I got to get it out. I got a praise. I got a praise. Help me ((music playing)) say yeah. I got a praise. I got a praise and I got to get it out. I got a Help me say yeah. I got a praise. >> ((music playing)) >> I got a praise and I got to get it out.

I got a praise. Everybody shout now. I I got a praise. I got a praise and I got to get it out. >> ((music playing)) >> I got a praise. Help me say yeah. I got a praise. I got a praise and I got to get it out. I got a praise.

Help me say yeah. I got a praise. I got a praise >> ((music playing)) >> and I got to get it out. I got a praise. Everybody shout [screaming] now. Everybody dance now. Everybody clap now. It's a praise in the house. It's a praise in the house. Is there a praise in the house?

Is there a praise in the house? Is there a praise in the house? Everybody got a praise. [screaming] Praise him. Praise him. Praise him. Praise him. You got a reason. I got a reason. Say, I got a reason. I got a reason. I got a reason. >> ((music playing)) >> I got a reason.

I got a reason. Say, I got a reason. >> ((music playing)) >> I got a reason. I got a reason. I got a reason. Everybody shout now. >> ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> Tell somebody, I got a reason. Say, I got a reason. I got a reason. >> ((music playing)) >> I got a reason. He kept my mind.

He kept my mind. He kept my mind. He kept my mind. Say, I got a reason. ((music playing)) Say I got a reason. Say it. I got a reason. Say it. I got a reason. I got I got a I >> ((music playing)) >> I got a praise. >> ((music playing)) >> Thank you, Jesus.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I got a reason. I said, I got a reason. >> ((applause)) >> Anybody got a reason? I will bless the Lord at ALL TIMES. HIS praise shall continually ((music playing)) be in my mouth. Can we give God a praise with the word of God?

SOMEBODY JUST SAY PRAISE the Lord. >> ((cheering)) >> He been sometimes he been too good you can't even say nothing. You just say, Lord, you've been Mhm. He's been too good. And we give him praise, honor, and glory. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Anybody grateful? We don't want to There's somebody in here.

I know you're looking at us like we crazy. And you're looking at us like, how we get this joy? How can we praise because my life is in shambles. But when you learn that you got the breath of God living in your body, >> ((cheering)) >> it don't matter what's going on around you, you can still praise the Lord.

You praise him because things are going good. You praise him when things are going bad. But when you have Jesus who lives inside of you, you can praise God through anything. And so there's somebody in here who needs to get a relationship with Jesus. So this same praise that's coming out of my mouth and out of your mouth and out of others' mouths, you can have the same praise.

But you can't praise like that without having the son Jesus Christ living in your life. And so I want to just take a moment real quick. There's somebody in the room who needs to accept the forgiveness of sin. And guess what we going to do if you come up here and accept Jesus?

We're going to praise the Lord. So there's anybody in here you need to you need to accept Jesus. He died on the cross for you, was buried, rose from the dead so that your sins can be forgiven. There's somebody in here who needs forgiveness. That's you. Come up here.

Come on. Yep, the doors of the church are open. I see you coming. Yep, come on. God bless you. God bless you. Who else? Come on. Come on. I don't care if you're in THE TOP TIER IN THE BALCONY. I don't care where you are. You know you need Jesus.

Come on. Yep, that's right, young man. I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you. Come on. Come on now. Come on now. >> [singing and music] >> Unsaved, need forgiveness of sin. Come on now. We're going to praise God for you. You know you're in here. You know you need it.

They're still coming. I see you coming. I don't care how young you are. I don't care how old you are. If you want Jesus, if you want to be forgiven of your sins, come on. Come on. Come on. I see you. Yep, I see you. They're still coming, y'all.

They're still coming. That's right. Come on. That's right. Come on. ((music playing)) Come on. He will give you brand new life. So come. [music and singing] Come on. >> [music and singing] >> He will give you brand new life. >> ((music playing)) >> New life abundantly. So come. >> [music and singing] >> Unsaved, if you're unsaved. Or there's some people in here who have backslidden or backsliding.

Let me tell you what backsliding is. It's something that I have done in my life where I ((music playing)) accepted Christ, but then there was a part in my life where I was alcoholic. I was addicted to alcohol. I was a fornicator. And and it was I was submitted to that lifestyle.

And there's some people in here who you know Jesus, but you you have submitted to a lifestyle and to a spirit. You have allowed the enemy to infiltrate what God had set around you. You have opened the door to let the demonic spirits come in and control you.

And if you want to be free, you got to rededicate yourself and turn back to Jesus so that he can take control of your life. If that is you, I want you to say that's me. Don't let the devil Devil, you are defeated in this place. I come against every demonic and foul spirit in the name of Jesus. >> [gasps] >> You are defeated, and if you need to come and receive victory and freedom, make your way right now in the name of Jesus.

Come on. Come on. >> [music and singing] >> I don't care WHERE YOU ARE. IF YOU KNOW IT'S YOU, COME ON. YOU DON'T HAVE TO SUBMIT TO IT. COME ON. >> [music and singing] >> COME ON. God bless you. >> [singing and music] ((music playing)) >> Unsaved. Unsaved, need to Yep, come on. That's all right. We wait for you.

Ain't nobody mad but the devil. Ain't nobody mad but the devil. That devil's trying to keep you in your seat, but you got to say, no. Oh, no. Not today. Not today. I will bless the Lord. I will praise the Lord. You start PRAISING HIM BY GIVING HIM YOUR LIFE, BY SUBMITTING TO HIM.

THAT'S HOW YOU PRAISE, BY COMING TO SUBMIT TO THE KING. THAT'S HOW YOU PRAISE, TO SAY, DEVIL, YOU CAN'T HAVE ME NO MORE. THAT'S HOW YOU PRAISE, BECAUSE YOU COME TO THE KING. THAT'S HOW YOU PRAISE. COME ON. THAT'S RIGHT. I see it. That's right. That's right. Come on.

Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. >> [screaming] >> Come on. Come on. >> [music and singing] ((music playing)) >> All right. They're still coming, y'all. It's okay. They're still coming. Listen. Unsaved, need to rededicate or you're unsure. You don't know. Yep, I see you, bro.

Come on, bro. I see you. Come on. Come on. Come on. We waiting for you. I see you, bro. I see you. Praise God. We're praising God for every step you taking right now. Every chains are being broken right now. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on.

Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. I see you. I SEE YOU. I SEE YOU. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. >> ((music playing)) >> Come on. Come on. Come on. >> ((music playing)) >> Come on. Come on. Come on. >> [singing] ((music playing)) >> Unsaved, rededicate. I know I know Listen, we about to leave in a minute, but this is the most important part.

Uh but there's some people in here who are unsure. And the the enemy has been trying to give you doubt in your mind. You don't know where where you would spend eternity. And we want to give you assurance. We want to make sure you're sure, that you know that you know why you know that you know.

You know, uh I alter council all the time, and sometimes I go in the back. I say, "What brought you up here?" I say, "Are you saved?" And people say, "Yeah, I'm saved." I say, "Well, how do you know?" And they'd be like, "Because God is good." He is good.

But but that's how That's not enough to make you understand that you're saved. And if you don't know that you are saved, you need to come up here and get assurance so you know that you are saved. You hear me? If you can't explain that, YOU NEED JUST COME GET ASSURANCE RIGHT NOW.

AND THEN LOOK, IF YOU UNSURE, you don't know, if you can't explain it, you don't know, you need to come up here. And then if you need to join this church, you've been dating this church for too long. It's time for you to come on and commit. This a big church, but when you get plugged in, the church shrinks.

Unsaved, need to rededicate, unsure, you need a church home. Turn to your neighbor and say, "Do you need to be up there?" If you need to be up there, I'll walk with you. I know it's a big room, but the devil is trying to keep you in your seat, and I won't let the devil win today.

If you need to come up there, let's go. I'll walk with you. Tell them, "I'll walk with you. I'll walk with you." Tell them, and bring them up here. If they're willing, if they're willing, we ain't forcing you, but you got to make a choice. I see you.

I see YOU. COME ON. I SEE YOU. I see you. You got to make a choice. You got to choose. CHOOSE YE THIS DAY WHO YOU WILL SERVE. YOU GOT TO CHOOSE. YOU GOT TO CHOOSE. YOU GOT TO CHOOSE. THE BEST DECISION OF YOUR LIFE IS SUBMITTING to Jesus Christ.

That's right. That's right. That's right. Is there anybody else? It's a good day. This is a good day. This is a good day. This is a good day to accept forgiveness. This is a good day to rededicate. This is a good day to get sure. And this is a good day to join this great church.

Amen. All right. Everybody make sure somebody's touching you, touching your shoulder. Make sure. Make sure. Make sure. Make sure. Everybody got somebody touching the person touching you. They're an altar counselor, and uh this church this church has trained up people to be able to know how to make sure you know and get a relationship with Jesus.

You hear me? They going to take you into a regular room in the back. That regular room, it's just a room with chairs in it. But when you leave out of that room, something's going to come into the room of your life, and it's going to change it.

His name is Jesus Christ. The Bible says if you confess with your mouth, believe in your heart the Lord Jesus Christ, you shall be saved. And and you thought you were praising God before, but wait till after today what's about to come up inside of you. You hear me?

Stretch your hands this way. Lord, we thank you for these your sons and daughters. We pray God that you wash them in your blood. Lord, what the enemy sent out for evil, Lord, you always turn it for your good. And so God, I pray for for your forgiveness, for your love, for your blood that's that has was shared to forgive and wash away all our sins.

Lord, you I thank you for this moment. Thank you for this day. I pray for forgiveness, assurance, rededication, and those who will be connecting and joining this church. Have your way in their lives in Jesus' name. We thank you for the word today and this moment right now, cuz you already knew about it.

So cover them. Keep them in Jesus' name. Amen. Y'all going to go out that door. Y'all going to go out that door. And watch with every STEP THAT Y'ALL TAKE, WE GOING CRAZY. Steps of victory. STEPS OF VICTORY. PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE THE LORD FOR ALL HE HAS DONE.

Can we thank God for the word and for his obedience and just being here? Um I I I've been able to go He's He's been the pastor of two churches. And I've been able He's my brother. She's my sister. And I've been able to Me and my wife have been able to go to see him get installed at both of at the churches.

Um And I believe in in everything, I just see God moving. But what God You ain't You ain't seen nothing yet about what God has taken you and your family. And so, bro, I'm just glad I get to call I'm glad I got your number. That I can call you, that we can go We go out and eat and talk.

Amen. >> [music and singing] ((music playing)) ((music playing)) [music and singing] >> Uh listen, can uh before we receive our pastor, can just give God praise for the young adults that are This young adult Sunday, they've been serving all day. >> ((applause)) >> Can y'all give it up for them?

I'm so proud of y'all. Thank y'all so much. Uh y'all know I'm not the young adult pastor anymore. And today was Reg Easy's first young adult Sunday leading the charge. I'm proud of you. You did that today. I'm proud of you. I love you. Great job, Easy. Let's Let's receive our senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, the man that's the reason why we can HAVE A YOUNG ADULT SUNDAY, PASTOR JOHN K.

JENKINS SR. >> ((cheering)) ((applause)) >> Thank you all for being here today. I just want to thank this young man for trying to take over my church. I don't know if you all got to meet his wife. Stand up, Janelle. This is his wife. This is Brian. >> ((applause)) >> So grateful for you.

You did a great job today. You preached hard. You got to be tired. Get some rest. But you did well. You blessed us beyond words. >> ((applause)) >> Next Sunday is Resurrection Sunday. >> ((applause)) >> It's It's a day >> ((cheering)) >> that people dress up and go to church. They'll never go to church any other Sunday.

They come to church that Sunday. The last few Sundays, the last few years of Resurrection Sunday, we have had more people than we can accommodate. We had to turn people away. This year, last year all four services were overflow. This year, we're adding a Sunday a Saturday Saturday night service at 6:00 p.m.

Amen. >> ((applause)) >> I'm trying to get some of my faithful, dedicated, saved, sanctified, Holy Ghost filled people to come on Saturday night. Wait, to make room for people who don't normally come to church on Sunday. >> ((applause)) >> Yeah. They responded at the earlier service just like y'all did.

Y'all the claps got real low. Everybody in here has got somebody in your family, some relative, some friend who needs Jesus. Wouldn't you be sad if they came here to come hear the gospel, had the opportunity to get saved, but couldn't get in? That's why we've added this Saturday service.

So I'm I'm asking you to think about coming on Saturday. >> ((applause)) >> Now, don't take that to mean that I don't want you to come to none of the services. Look at your neighbor and say, "He ain't saying don't come to no service." Say it again. I want you to pray for some people to come on Sunday, but I want you some of you to come on Saturday [snorts] night, okay? >> [laughter] >> Go home, y'all.

Just just pray about it. Lord Jesus, help them Amen. I love y'all. Have a great day. >> ((applause)) >> And you can still accept Christ or join FBCG by calling the number in the chat or visiting fbcglenarden.org/commit. Or you can email us commit@fbcglenarden.org. So, our word today, total praise. Total praise. >> Total praise. Listen, Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson II told us where we should praise God, which is in the sanctuary. He told us why we should praise the Lord, which is for his mighty work. He told us how you should praise God, with the trumpet, with the lyre and the harp, with the tambourine and dancing, with cymbals.

In other words, y'all, make a joyful noise. Make some noise up in the room, okay? And then he told us who is qualified to praise God. >> Everyone and everything that has breath. PRAISE THE LORD. OKAY. Praise the Lord. >> means you. No matter where you are, praise the Lord for all he has done and what he continues to do for you every single day. >> Absolutely.

And make sure you praise him in advance. >> In advance. >> Because when you praise him in advance, that's when chains start to break. And I'm a living witness. I didn't been in the hospital with somebody and for a few days, and I praised him in advance. I literally turned on Marvin Sapp, "Praise Him in Advance."

And I said, "God, allow them to walk out this hospital." And they walked out the hospital. Cuz you praised him in advance. In advance. And you should, too. But everything And let everything that has breath praise the Lord. can inhale and exhale, so you should be able to praise the Lord for all he has done for you.

For you. So, now, Sister Khalia, we got a few announcements for the people. have a few announcements. So, Glory to Glory is this Friday on Good Friday at 7:00 p.m., and it will be on all virtual platforms. So I am so excited for that. We also have our Resurrection Weekend coming up, which is also a celebration of our Savior rising.

Um and there are five services this year. There will be one on Saturday at 6:00 p.m., and then four on Sunday, 6:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and noon. So we would love to see you there. Yes, y'all. And then we also have watch groups. So if you watched today's service from home, you don't have to do that every Sunday.

There just might be a local watch group in your area. So to look up where you might can get together with some folks in your community, make sure you visit fbcglenarden.org/watchgroups. And also, I know you may have been hearing over the past few weeks about serving and how it's important for us to serve our church and where we are worshipping the Lord.

And if you are an online member, you can still serve this house. So you can be a volunteer for the online campus. So to get more information on that, make sure you go ahead and visit fbcglenarden.org/ocvolunteer. Okay? Cuz we would love for you to stay in touch. Cuz you don't have to do this life alone, you know?

I always preach community. We need community. Cuz you Cuz we weren't made to have life alone, so it's like why should you be alone? You can't learn. You can't grow. You can't cry. Like you You just need that community. Who you going to vent to? You can vent on the Lord.

You can. You can. You can vent to him, but he didn't mean for you to do this life alone, okay? So, also, if you just want to stay in touch with online campus, maybe you just got to warm up, you know, before you start serving. Go ahead and visit fbcglenarden.org/ocupdates.

So you can at least be updated on everything that's happening with our online campus. Today has been a pleasure. It has been an amazing Young Adult Sunday. One for the books, for sure. One for the books. Looking forward to the next one. >> [screaming] >> But I'm also looking forward to next week.

Right. Yeah, that too. So, it has been a great blessing to be here. We hope everyone has an amazing week, and remember to praise him in advance for all that he will do in your life. Give him total praise. See you. One God, >> ((music playing)) >> ONE DIRECTION, FORWARD.
