((music playing)) And so, we welcome you to a special Saturday night service here at Cornerstone.
This is the day the Lord has made. We've chosen to rejoice. We've chosen to be glad. And we are thankful that you are joining us. As always, we love to know where you're watching from and how we might be ((music playing)) able to connect with you. Type in the comments below.
You can also go to jhm.org for our live interactive prayer wall, giving us the opportunity to believe God for the miracles that you are needing in your life. Our God still performs miracles. There's nothing impossible for him. He is mighty. He is great. And we place our trust and confidence in him.
So, Nina, God bless you. Welcome. Thank you for watching. Today, uh, Jose, God bless you. Thank you for being in the house of the Lord with us today. We are seeing James from Ontario. Welcome to God's house. Welcome to Resurrection Weekend. Chris, God bless you as well as we celebrate this resurrection weekend.
We pray you and your entire family are going to be blessed. Speaking of blessed, you're going to be encouraged and blessed today because our lead pastor Matt Hegy returns to the pull pit and he is sharing a message today entitled The Reason to Rejoice. The focal text is found in Matthew 28:es 1-10.
This is going to be a powerful message centered around the resurrection of Jesus as the foundation of our Christian faith. It emphasizes that Christ has risen from the grave and death could not hold him, making way for you and I to receive access to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
And so today, we are confident that you and your family are going to be blessed. Gather around the living room, get your favorite cup of coffee ready, call some friends, get logged in. jhm.org org has 24/7 great Bible teaching content that you and your family can enjoy whenever you would like.
You can also hit the subscribe button at Hegy Ministries on our YouTube channel so that you will be notified each and every time we have new content available. Well, last night we had a powerful uh drama concerning the resurrection of Jesus. The witnesses has impacted many people and today we have some of the cast that is joining us to share their experience so that you can go back and watch this highly anticipated drama presentation the witnesses.
First we have Mr. Henderson. He played uh Jesus actually. Welcome to our service Jesus. We welcome you. And those of you that are watching, thank you for being here with us today. Share with us your experience about how this impacted your life. And those that have yet to watch it, what can they expect from your role? >> All right.
Well, thank you and thank you for having me. I definitely appreciate it. Um, and I just also want to thank um our directors and writers, Sam and Vanessa, for you know, I had to audition for the role of Jesus, and this is my second time playing Jesus. I played Jesus uh in last year's Easter production.
So, um, of course, there's that. are you sure that I'm the right guy for this? They're like, "No, we've prayed about it. You're you're you're going to be our Jesus." So, you know what? If y'all prayed about it, I'm not going to go against what God has been telling y'all.
But, um, it is such an honor to be uh portraying the Messiah, to be be portraying Jesus. >> Talk about pressure. >> Exactly. Whole lot of pressure as ((music playing)) well. Um, but of course, you know, you just pray about it and kind of approach it like you would any other role and and do what you can to bring that humanity of Jesus.
And that's, you know, cuz he came down to the world to save us and he came as a man and everything. So, it's like, you know what, it's do it with excellence. It's, it may not be perfect, but pursue excellence in this role and everything. And I feel like that's what we did um with our production last night and everything. >> Absolutely.
Well, spoiler alert, uh Jesus is no longer on the cross and he's no longer in the grave. He is alive and well. And I'm not speaking about Mr. Henderson, >> but I am speaking about the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Yes. >> Torrance, will you share with us a little bit of perhaps what impacted you the most in playing this role uh last ((music playing)) night at Witnesses? >> Yeah.
Um you know, we go through so many rehearsals to where ((music playing)) it's like you're going through the routine. Um but performing there's ((music playing)) something different and you feel a different kind of energy. And I know for me um one of the scenes that really got to me um in portraying Jesus is when um the woman caught in the act of adultery is about to be stoned uh by the Pharisees.
Um but but Jesus you know stops them and and in that after doing that he he tells the story about the prodical son and um what really got me was when um Jesus is saying the lines we must celebrate for my son who was now dead who who was dead is alive again.
He was lost, but now he's found. And I don't want to spoil what happens in that, but just with those those words, they were getting to me. Because there's something about that where Jesus is always there for us. You know, he's he's waiting for us to come back to him.
All we need to do is run to him. He's making himself available to us. We just have to run to him. And so that really got to me. >> Absolutely. And if you missed this, you can watch this on YouTube and Facebook. Matter of fact, if you'd like to watch it uninterrupted, you can go to sacornerstone.org/esteraster so that you can be blessed by the portrayal of witnesses, the eye account of people that experienced Jesus dying on the cross, raising from the grave so that you and I can celebrate resurrection together.
Well, God bless you, my friend. Thank you for being here, Mr. Henderson. All right. >> May the Lord bless you today and may the Lord bless those of you that are watching as we are moments away from our lead pastor Matt Hegy as he shares the sermon, the reason to rejoice.
Jennifer, God bless you. Welcome to the house of the Lord. We're thankful that you've joined us. Brenda, God bless you all the way from Michigan. Thank you for being uh in the house. We pray that you will be blessed. Johnny, God bless you. Thank you for joining us as well.
Many people that are joining us online. Martha, we see you. Amy, God bless you as well. We are highly, highly expectant that the spirit of the Lord is going to minister to you and your family. Now, speaking of ministering, last night we had another cast member who's here with us to share with us his experience on witnesses.
Dylan is here with us. He played a very unique role. He's going to share with us how that impacted his life. Dylan, God bless you. All right. God bless you. Happy Easter. >> Happy resurrection. Absolutely. Well, Dylan, uh, you guys practiced for many hours, placed lots of dedication.
You played a very unique role. Share with us that role and how it was interwoven into this presentation. >> Absolutely. Um, I got to play an original character. So, something you don't see in a lot of, uh, Easter productions. Um, created by Sam Vanessa and the writing team who did a phenomenal job.
Um, this character is a thief. Um, his name is Martialis and he made one really bad decision and had one really bad night. Uh, we know how old Rome was. He was sentenced to death almost immediately. Um, ((music playing)) and then gets to share the cell with a mystery figure.
No spoilers. Um, and goes on his journey to to learn who Jesus is throughout this uh, amazing production. >> Absolutely. Well, this is a highly anticipated drama presentation. What was your favorite part? We heard raving reviews about it, but what was your favorite part? >> My favorite part?
Well, I'm biased ((music playing)) because of my character, but at the very end of the play, I get to share a very special moment with the audience, and it's kind of a one-on-one with me and the audience, and I get to share a a special prayer. And for me that was really important and impactful to me because if just one person out there who hadn't done that before repeated the words with me I knew my job was done as a witness myself.
Um so for me that was my personal favorite but the whole play is littered with awesome moments. So it's hard to pick. >> Absolutely. >> Absolutely. Take your pick of many many highlighting moments. We encourage you if you have not seen witnesses you can go to sacornerstone.org org/easter so that you can watch this play uninterrupted and be blessed by those that participate in it.
Well, Dylan, God bless you. Thank you, my friend. >> God bless you, too. Thank you. >> Enjoy the rest of the day. Again, we are moments away from our service. Happy resurrection day. The tomb is empty. The grave has been robbed. Jesus is alive and well. And you and I have access to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
And so we're so thankful, Jennifer, that you've joined us all all uh weekend long. God bless you, Jose. Welcome to the house of the Lord. We are expecting great things from today's service as we are confident that you're going to be blessed. Now, tomorrow morning, we have special guests.
We have our special needs choir who's going to be participating before service so that you and I can be blessed by their gifts and talents that the Lord has given them. Don't forget to watch online tomorrow morning. Again, our special needs ministry will be participating and we encourage you to join us.
Our service times tomorrow remain the same and that is 8:30 and 11 o'clock. Again, tonight we're starting at 5, but we want to ensure that you are participating with us. Set your alarms as we are confident that you are going to be blessed. Now, we also have some up andcoming events that we want you to mark your calendar with, and that is finding your inner warrior.
This is calling all the ladies that desire to grow in their walk and relationship with God as well as be encouraged with other believers. This is a disciplehip study. It happens on Wednesday, April the 1st through the 22nd. This is an opportunity for our ladies to gather together, be encouraged, grow in fellowship, grow in the word of God, and encourage one another.
Another thing that you can be a part of for our ladies ministry is our garden party social. This is for mothers and daughters happening Saturday, April the 16th. You can register at sa cornerstone.org/mbbraced. This will be an opportunity to connect, laugh, share great moments with mothers and daughters alike as they are involved in great conversation, worshiping the Lord, making him the focal point of their relationship and all that they do.
Again, this is resurrection weekend. God bless you. Thank you for being in the house of the Lord. We encourage you if you need prayer right now, you can go to jhm.org org and visit our live interactive prayer wall so that we can pray and connect with you believing God for the miracles that you are needing in your life, our God still does miracles.
There's nothing impossible for him. And so we want to encourage you today that even though things may look dark, may look bleak, if you ever have felt hidden, if you've ever felt overlooked, if things appear to be delayed, know that God is still working on your behalf and every season is meant to propel us and move us forward.
God's word says in 1 Peter 5:6, "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God that he may lift you up in due time." Due time speaks of a specific moment, speaks of an of of a time that God has set apart. And we are believing that the time that God has to bless you and keep you and sustain you is approaching quickly.
And so be encouraged that there is a family of believers here at Hegy Ministries Cornerstone Church that desires to see you advance, desires to see you healed, restored, blessed, covered by the goodness and the favor of the Lord. Debbie, God bless you. Thank you for joining us today.
Ricardo, God bless you. Yes. Amen. Thank you for being here. We are believing that God is going to speak and minister to your life. Soul, God bless you. Thank you for joining us. Amy, thank you for listening. Thank you for watching. Thank you for participating as we are confident that today you are going to be blessed.
Dawn from North Carolina, thank you for joining us. This is a day the Lord has made. And it's not just Sunday mornings. It is every day. This is the day that God has assigned. God has chosen to pour out a spirit to encourage those that are hungry and thirsty for righteousness.
His word says they shall be filled. And we are believing and trusting that God is going to speak and minister to us today. Again, uh we want to encourage you to get ready because uh tonight our pastor Hegy is going to be speaking a very powerful message. Our lead pastor, Matt Hegy, is going to be sharing a message that you don't want to miss.
The reason to rejoice. Focal text is Matthew 28:es 1-10. Let's pray as we get ready to go into service as we lift up the name of Jesus. Father, we thank you that you are alive. We thank you that the tomb has been defeated. We thank you that hell has been broken because of the power of the cross.
We pray your blessings. We pray your favor and anointing over those that are joining us today. May you keep them in all that they do in the mighty name of Jesus. We thank you and we lift up that name, Jesus. God bless you. Amen. Welcome to Cornerstone ((music playing)) Church.
Nearly 2,000 years ago, angels stood beside a borrowed tomb and ((music playing)) made a declaration that changed the world. He is not here. He is risen. The greatest ((music playing)) news the world has ever heard is still true today. Jesus Christ, God's son, our savior, is alive, risen in power, ((music playing)) seated at the right hand of God our father in glory. >> Today, we welcome you to this special service.
And wherever you are watching from, we want you to know that ((music playing)) our prayer for you today is that you would feel the presence of the risen savior and ((music playing)) that his joy, his peace would fill your heart and your life. We are here ((music playing)) to celebrate one unshakable truth. Because he lives, we have eternal life.
Because ((music playing)) he conquered death, we live and breathe in victory. >> Jesus said, "I am he who lives and was dead ((music playing)) and am alive forever more. And I have the keys to death in the grave." ((music playing)) Church, for all who belong to him, Christ has set us free. And ((music playing)) because you are free and forgiven based on his work at Calvary, we have victory in this life.
The risen Savior ((music playing)) is watching over you. He has a purpose for your life, promises for ((music playing)) your future, and a hope for every tomorrow. So rejoice with us as we worship our risen Savior. Every Sunday, we gather to remember who Christ is ((music playing)) and all that he has done. We remember the powerful promises of his word.
We remember his mercy, ((music playing)) grace, love, and kindness. >> So, we're so glad that you're here today at Cornerstone Church. Your service is about to begin. It began with an exchange. Innocence for guilt. Silence or surrender. The weight of every wound was lifted onto his shoulders. Nails didn't just pierce his hands.
They held the brokenness of the world in place. ((music playing)) The lamb was promised long before the blood was spilled. ((music playing)) A sacrifice whispered through generations. The sky grew dark. The earth held its breath and love ((music playing)) paid its highest price. Then came the silence. One day hope sink buried. Two days heaven felt quiet.
Three days the grave thought it had won. But death couldn't hold him. The grave couldn't keep him. The cross ((music playing)) didn't finish him. Because on the third day, the same breath that formed creation filled empty ((music playing)) lungs again. [music and singing] >> God, can you stand on your feet? ((music playing)) Can you declare that dead things come alive in the name of Jesus?
Dead ((music playing)) come alive. Dead come alive. Dead come alive in the name of Jesus. Dead ((music playing)) come alive. Dead come alive. Dead come alive today. Worthy ((music playing)) of glory forever.
Something comes out of the grave. Now listen ((music playing)) to this. Every time I call your name, change the trials ((music playing)) away. Every time I call your name, the gates of hell say. ((music playing)) Every time I call your name, you change the way. Every time ((music playing)) I ((music playing)) cornerstone church, he's alive. I said, cornerstone church, he's alive.

((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. >> ((music playing)) >> Behold the lamb upon [singing and music] the cross who takes away the sins [singing] of all. Forgiveness ((music playing)) flows from [singing] hands and feet as violence meets the prince [singing] of peace. ((music playing)) Behold the king [singing] and light ((music playing)) of the world. Lamb that was the light [singing] who ((music playing)) might say [singing] the fullness ((music playing)) of God won't [singing] be kept in the grave.
Darkness ((music playing)) your hour is [singing] over. Behold the love his dying [music and singing] plead. Behold the grace ((music playing)) of Calary [singing] that rugged cross [singing] soon ((music playing)) to be the [singing] emblem of ((music playing)) a risen [singing] king. Behold the king. Behold the king of ((music playing)) the world. Let us say I might ((music playing)) say the fullness of [singing] God will be ((music playing)) kept in the grave.
Heat. Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) Yeah. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Darkness. ((music playing)) Your power is over. ((music playing)) The darkness [singing] is over. For he is risen. [singing and music] Yes, he is alive. No enemy ((music playing)) could hold you [singing] down. Cuz there's nobody in the grave now. One head gets to wear that [music and singing] crown. Cuz there's nobody in the grave now. ((music playing)) No enemy can hold you [singing] down.

((music playing)) We can hold you down.
There's nobody now. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> [music and singing] >> away. Your hour ((music playing)) is over. How many of you believe that that darkness your hour is over? The king is alive. He's conquered death, hell, and the grave. ((music playing)) And because he lives, we can face anything. Because he lives, we ((music playing)) also live in him.
Does anyone believe that in the house? Hallelujah. ((music playing)) If you know this, can you declare this? ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> Because >> all fear is gone. Oh, feelings [music and singing] ((music playing)) because I know ((music playing)) he holds the future in ((music playing)) life. The living just because he ((music playing)) is. Hallelujah. >> [singing] ((music playing)) >> Oh, I can face tomorrow ((music playing)) for [singing] he ((music playing)) is all [singing] here.
((music playing)) Heat. Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) And [music and singing] I his word is just ((music playing)) because [singing] he is his word. ((music playing)) I his word. He lives. ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> Come on and give a shout of praise in this house and celebrate a risen savior. ((music playing)) Hallelujah. God bless you. You may ((music playing)) be seated. ((music playing)) Today we celebrate the greatest victory in history.
The stone was rolled away, the grave was defeated, and Jesus is alive. >> Easter reminds us that death lost its power. Sin lost its hope, and hope was restored to the world. ((music playing)) >> But the cross was not just about forgiveness and the resurrection was not just about eternity.
((music playing)) Jesus didn't only die to save us. He died to build something eternal. ((music playing)) He died for his church. See, the church was never meant to be just a place that you attend. >> The church is a family, ((music playing)) a movement, a mission. And here at Cornerstone, we believe God builds people through his church. >> If today is your first time here, ((music playing)) then welcome.
You're not here by accident. See, God brought you here for a reason. Not just to sit in a seat, but to discover your purpose. >> Because every ((music playing)) believer is called to grow, to lead, and to make a difference. That's why we invest in every generation from our kids ministry to the ark, youth, college, marriage, Spanish, and our special needs ministry. >> If you are wanting to grow, it happens when we walk together through groups on Wednesday nights and grow with us on Sunday nights.
There you can expect to be challenged and supported in your walk with Christ. >> I would like to challenge you. ((music playing)) Take the next step. Join a connect group. Get connected. Serve. Because when you build God's house, God builds something ((music playing)) powerful in you. If you're ready to be connected here at Cornerstone Church, you can fill out ((music playing)) one of these cards located in the back of our sanctuary seats or go to sa cornerstone.org/ I'm ready.
Happy resurrection weekend ((music playing)) and welcome to Cornerstone Church. >> ((music playing)) >> Well, good evening and God bless you. Welcome to this wonderful resurrection celebration. If you are thankful tonight that Jesus Christ is risen and ascended and seated at the right hand of God the Father, would you give the Lord a shout and a hand clap of praise in this time?
[cheering and applause] >> All right, that was a good warm-up. You're going to get a lot more chances before the service is over, but it's going to be an exciting night here at Cornerstone. I want to thank you all for coming and being a part of our first resurrection celebration tomorrow morning 8:30 and 11.
For those of you who are watching in the area or within driving distance, we're going to have two more services and we look forward to having you here. All of the events taking place at Cornerstone can be found at sacornerstone.org and there you'll find events for our men's groups, for our women's groups.
Uh all kinds of exciting things are taking place and I encourage you to find out more about them. But I want to talk about an exciting event that is going to be taking place here on our campus a week from tomorrow. You know, next Sunday technically is the 5th, but 7 days after that is April the 12th, and that is a Sunday in which you are going to celebrate two monumental occasions.
What are they? >> I got married on April the 12th. That is monumental. I was born on April the 12th. I'm still alive and well on April the 12th. ((applause)) Next Sunday is your 86th birthday and more importantly, probably most importantly, it is your 50th wedding anniversary ((cheering)) ((applause)) ((applause)) >> and you're preaching. >> So, >> I'll pre be preaching both services on the resurrection. >> Amen.
[laughter] Well, it's going to be a wonderful Sunday and I encourage you to come back and join us as we celebrate God's faithfulness and his goodness in so many different ways. Uh, one of the things that parents have been asking about is when the next open house and coffee admissions is going to be at CCS.
And that's going to take place on April the 24th, Friday. It's a great time to ask questions and answers and also uh take a tour of our Cornerstone Christian School campus and find out how you and your family can be blessed by the services that are provided there to your children.
If you have more information, you can go to sa-ccs.org. The way that we accomplish the mission of this ministry is by the receiving of tithes and offerings. And I'm going to ask our ushers to take their positions to help us worship the Lord with giving tonight. to those of you who are watching and joining us online this evening.
There are 137 nations and all 50 states that are watching this service. And so we're thankful that you're here with us. But uh we also want to give you the opportunity to participate in this offering. If you'd like to, you can go to sacornstone.org/give or text the word give to 211088-2300.
Call us at 855-694-9653 or write P. Box 34-930, San Antonio, Texas 78265. Pastor, would you pray over the offering? Can we lift our hands to the throne of grace? Our most gracious heavenly father, with great joy have we gathered in the house of the Lord tonight to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Because he lives, we now know that every promise in the book that he made is valid. He is victorious over death, hell, and the grave. He is the great physician. By his shed blood, our sins are forgiven. And because he lives, we shall also live forever and forever and forever.
Thank you for the opportunity of being in the house of the Lord to demonstrate our love and affection for [clears throat] the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Let this gospel message go to this nation and to the 137 nations that are listening right now that Jesus Christ is victorious over death, hell, and the grave.
He is the Lord and there is not another like him. In the authority of his name we pray and say amen. >> Amen. ((music playing)) >> We thank you for your praying and ((music playing)) your giving. As you can see, God is using this to impact the nations of the ((music playing)) world. This is a time in our telecast where we take moments for prayer to pray for those needs that have been represented in our prayer wall.
Gabriella, we're praying healing right now over your son Jonathan that has been ((music playing)) hospitalized with liver failure. We're praying that the hand of God, the power of the Holy Spirit would touch him right now in ((music playing)) the name of Jesus. We speak healing and restoration over your son. Mary, we're praying for ((music playing)) your 93year-old friend uh Norris that has a heart condition.
We're praying the hand of God ((music playing)) to be upon this body, to be upon this situation in Jesus' name ((music playing)) for complete healing. Dorene from California, we're praying in Jesus' name ((music playing)) that the power of God would intervene in your family, that he would bring order and restoration and peace. Charlotte from Dallas.
We're praying protection and deliverance over your children, over your family, and over those that try to do them harm. ((music playing)) We're asking that the hand of God sustain you and keep you and give you the peace that only he is able to provide. Lastly, Caven, we're asking for financial breakthrough.
We're asking the hand of the Lord to provide, keep, and sustain you in all that you're doing. Cornerstone, we thank you for your prayer and your giving. As you can see, God is ((music playing)) using it to reach nations and to impact generations. May the Lord bless ((music playing)) you and keep you in Jesus name.
Let's go back to service. ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> Heat up here. Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) ((applause)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> him with many crowns. the lamb upon his ((music playing)) throne. >> [singing] >> All the heavenly ((music playing)) music is awake my ((music playing)) soul and see him foreign. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> Now in [music and singing] the Lord of triumph toward the grave who rose ((music playing)) victorious [singing] to the sight for those he came ((music playing)) to save his glory shall be shall Heat.
Heat. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> Hallelujah. Halleluah. ((music playing)) [singing] And voice is praise. Sing ((music playing)) to God. [singing] Sing to God of praise. And he [music and singing] [singing] sal Jesus Christ the king of ((music playing)) glory. [singing] ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. ((music playing)) Heat. ((music playing)) ((applause)) >> ((music playing)) >> Not a word [singing] was heard at the tomb that day. Just ((music playing)) shuffling feet as they [singing] guarded ((music playing)) the grave.
One day, two days, three [singing and music] days had passed. Could it be Jesus breathe ((music playing)) his last? Could it be that [singing] he's fallen? God forsaken him, turned his back [singing] on his son, despising ((music playing)) our sins. [singing] All hail seemed to whisper, "Just forget him. He is dead." That the father [music and singing] looked down to his son and said, >> ((music playing)) >> Arise [singing] my love.
Arise my love. ((music playing)) The grave no longer has a ((music playing)) hold on you. No more [singing] dancing. No more sunrise. ((music playing)) >> [singing] >> arise, ((music playing)) my love. The earth trembled and the tomb [singing] began ((music playing)) to shake. Like lightning from heaven, ((music playing)) the stone [singing] was rolled away. And as dead men [music and singing] the guards, they all stood there in fright.
As the [singing] power of love ((music playing)) displayed it, [singing] ((music playing)) it filled [singing] the air. ((music playing)) riding wings of wind. It was everywhere. [music and singing] The words all creation [music and singing] have been longing to hear the sweet sounds of victory. So [music and singing] loud and clear. ((music playing)) Arise my love. Arise ((music playing)) my love. [singing] The great [music and singing] ((music playing)) No more. [singing] ((music playing)) [singing] ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> Where are your shackles?
Where is your sting? Has [music and singing] been defeated. The rain could not hold [singing] the ((music playing)) king. Yeah. ((music playing)) Heat. ((music playing)) [singing and music] No more testing. No more [singing] ((music playing)) [music and singing] >> ((music playing)) ((applause)) >> He is the word of God, a ((music playing)) prophet, a servant. He is the bread of life, a shepherd ((music playing)) and the lamb. He is the messenger. He is the humble king.
He is the son ((music playing)) of God. He was rejected and abandoned. He was betrayed and condemned. He was mocked and beaten, bruised and pierced. He was crucified and ((music playing)) buried. But the nails could not hold him. The cross could not finish him. ((music playing)) The stone could not keep him. Death could not defeat ((music playing)) him.
He is our ransom and our redeemer. He's our deliverer and our ((music playing)) refuge. He is mighty. He is glorious. He is holy and exalted. He is our savior. And he is risen. >> ((cheering)) >> If you would please stand for the reading of God's word. I begin this resurrection message with this title, the reason to rejoice.
Our text comes from Matthew the 28th chapter and begins at the first verse. I'll tell you when and where I want you to read. Now, after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here for he is risen as he said. Come see the place where the Lord lay and go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead and indeed he is going before you into Galilee.
There you will see him. Behold, I have told you. Verse 8 says, they went quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and they ran to bring his disciples word. Now you may read at verse 9. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice. the right attitude.
You see, there's two women who are leaving a place where they thought they would find their rabbi lying in grave clothes. And instead of seeing the tomb filled with the body of the one that they had buried, it was empty. And when they were going to tell his disciples that he was indeed alive, the one who had conquered death, hell, and the grave, the one who had the keys and all power and all authority in his hands met them and said, ((cheering)) >> "All right, now you're starting to kind of get the picture of where we're going with this."
Because some of you think that Jesus taught Shakespeare. He didn't say rejoice. It's me. He said I have just won the most dynamic triumph and victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil. REJOICE. ((cheering)) ((applause)) NOW, let's read it again. See if you don't understand. Verse n. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, >> "So they came and they held him by his feet and worshiped him."
And Jesus said, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see me." Heavenly Father, indeed we have gathered in this sanctuary to rejoice, to rejoice in the joy of our salvation, to rejoice in the fact that you have been given the name that is above every name.
And that when one of your children standing on this earth in this place watching across America or around the world simply mentions the mighty name of Jesus, every power, every principality, every demon in hell is put on notice that the conqueror of Calvary is alive and well and seated on the throne.
Tonight we rejoice because our names are written in the Lamb's book of life. Tonight we rejoice because we have the keys to death, hell, and the grave. You have conquered them and made them a gateway to glory. TONIGHT WE REJOICE BECAUSE YOU LIVE, we shall also live. And we cannot be defeated in this life because we have victory THROUGH CHRIST OUR SAVIOR.
TONIGHT WE REJOICE BECAUSE WE ARE SAVED BY the blood of the lamb. AND THERE'S NOTHING HELL CAN DO TO STOP US OR STAND AGAINST US BECAUSE JESUS CHRIST IS OUR SOONCOMING KING. WE REJOICE IN JESUS' NAME. AND ALL OF GOD'S CHILDREN SAID, "PRAISE THE LORD." >> Praise the Lord.
((cheering)) >> You may be seated. ((applause)) If you can't get excited about the resurrection, you don't know what you should be excited about. Tonight, we're gathered in this place to celebrate the entire event upon which our faith is built. The Apostle Paul told the New Testament church in 1 Corinthians 15, "If Christ is not raised from the dead, then our preaching is empty and our faith is in vain."
He said VERY CLEARLY, "IF HE'S NOT ALIVE, THEN THIS IS A WASTE of time. If he's not risen, we should chain the doors of this building shut and never assemble here in his name again. If he is not risen, then none of our sins ARE FORGIVEN AND WE are lost and damned to an eternity in hell.
If he is not risen, then there is no hope of heaven. AND IF HE IS NOT RISEN, then church, we have no reason to rejoice. But I didn't gather in this place to speak about all of the things that Christ is not. I came here today to tell you everything that he is.
First and foremost, he is alive and he is seated at the right hand of God the Father. He is the victor over death, hell, and the grave. He is triumphant over every power and principality. He is the lamb of God who made a way where there seemed to BE NO WAY.
THERE WAS NO WAY for you and I to become sons and daughters. BUT TODAY I REJOICE BECAUSE BY HIS SHED BLOOD EVERY PRICE HAS BEEN PAID and I am a child OF THE GOD WHO MADE the heavens AND THE EARTH. THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO GO BEHIND THE VEIL AND TALK TO GOD MY FATHER.
BUT WHEN CHRIST CRIED, "IT IS FINISHED." THE VEIL TORE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. AND NOW ALL I HAVE TO DO TO GET IN THE PRESENCE OF MY GOD AND KING IS SIMPLY MENTION THE NAME JESUS. FOR I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT I CAN GO BOLDLY BEFORE GOD AND FIND GRACE IN MY HOUR OF NEED.
CHRIST DID THAT WHEN HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR ME. THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO STAND IN THIS PLACE AND DECLARE THAT IF GOD BE FOR ME, WHO CAN BE AGAINST ME? BUT WHEN CHRIST DIED IN MY PLACE AND ROSE AGAIN ON THE THIRD DAY, I CAN SHOUT WITH TRIUMPH THAT I AM MORE THAN A CONQUEROR THROUGH CHRIST WHO LIVES IN ME. >> ((applause)) >> In his resurrection, he signed, sealed, and delivered my salvation for eternity.
So that I can say with confidence, I know in whom I have believed and I believe that he is able to keep that which I have committed to him even unto the day of Christ Jesus. What have YOU COMMITTED TO CHRIST? first and foremost your soul. And aren't you glad he's able to keep it?
If it was my JOB TO KEEP ME SAVED, I'd be lost. But thank God, he is able to keep what I have committed. Not only is he able to keep what I have committed, he's able to give me hope for today and strength for tomorrow. He's able to give me confidence and joy, the kind of joy that the world didn't give and the world can't take away.
He's able to keep me in perfect peace when my mind is stayed on thee. DO YOU KNOW WHY I'M SO EXCITED TONIGHT? I'M EXCITED because I know that Jesus Christ is alive. If you can FEEL HIS LIVING PRESENCE IN THIS ROOM, GIVE THE LORD A SHOUT OF PRAISE.
((cheering)) ((applause)) The first thing that Jesus said when he came out of the grave to the first people that saw him was simple. Rejoice. Say it with me. Rejoice. If there's anything that Christianity needs to learn to DO IN THIS DARK WORLD is rejoice. >> The world is in need of significant infusions of joy.
And because we have Christ, we have the joy that the Lord is looking for. >> Nearly 2,000 years ago, the unthinkable occurred. Last Friday, Jesus Christ of Nazareth 2,000 years ago was crucified just on a hill outside the city walls of Jerusalem called Goltha. Last Friday, 2,000 years ago, the city was filled with controversy, full of turmoil, as everyone who was gathered inside the walls had an opinion.
They were all speaking about the same thing, but they all didn't see it the same way. You see the Pharisees, they were talking about this Jesus of Nazareth, this uneducated rabbi who was a blasphemer and a heretic and how he should be put to death for his insightful words and his infuriating teaching.
Because after all, whenever they asked if he was a king, he said, "I am." Who does he think he is? Rome was talking about Jesus. They considered him to be a political threat. They considered to him to have the KIND OF PERSUASIVE POWER THAT CAUSED PEOPLE to believe that Rome might be overthrown in a revolution.
And the disciples, they were talking about Jesus. They were talking about all that they had seen him do. They were talking about all the miracles that he had worked. They thought for themselves that surely Jesus Christ must be the Messiah. But no matter what you thought on Thursday night and Friday morning, by the time the sun set on Friday evening, the city of Jerusalem had come into agreement concerning Jesus Christ.
And the only thing that they were talking about is, "It's over. It's over. He's dead." The Pharisees were filled with glee as their manipulation of the Roman government had caused them to get Christ crucified. The Romans were saying, "It's over. We've squatchched another rebellion. We've silenced another leader.
Rome wins. We remain in power." The disciples, they said, "It's over." Because their teacher, their mentor, their hopeful Messiah, their rabbi, they wrapped him in linen grave clothes and intombed him in another man's grave. and Rome had put a stone in front of the grave, impossible to move.
Everyone knew it was over. Fast forward to 2026 and there's still lots of people talking about Jesus. They can't stop talking about Jesus. Even the woke activist agnostic humanistic atheists are talking about a Jesus that they don't believe in. >> They claim he's a nuisance. They believe that his ancient teachings give false hope to weak-minded and crazy people who would actually believe his word. >> Just like leaders in the ancient world wanted him eliminated, there's modern leaders who want him eliminated from education, eliminated from the public square.
They want to silence and intimidate those who might believe in him. They want to legislate him out of society. Just as religious people were talking about Jesus back then, there's religious people talking about him now. Self-righteous people talking about how their rules and regulations qualify them to be the favorites of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
You need to understand something. The Bible doesn't say that Jesus loves a denomination. The Bible says that whosoever will believe in him, >> listen to that phrase. whosoever will believe in him. If a sinner lost in their sin will believe in him, he'll forgive them. IF AN ADDICT BOUND by addiction would believe in him, he'll set them free.
If those who are lonely and have had THEIR HEART BROKEN BY the world would believe in him, they'd find a friend that is closer than a brother. If you're weak and you're weary and you're searching FOR STRENGTH IN THIS PLACE, IF YOU'LL BELIEVE in him, he'll give you rest.
If you're tormented and in search of peace, if you'll believe in him, you'll find one who is the prince of peace. IF YOU'RE FILLED WITH DOUBT AND YOU NEED CONFIDENCE AND YOU BELIEVE in him, YOU'LL DISCOVER THAT GREATER IS he who is in you than he who is in the world.
CHILD OF GOD, WHEN YOU BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE RESURRECTED SAVIOR, HE WILL CHANGE your life. Give the Lord a hand clap of praise. ((applause)) Whosoever will believe in him will find love, everlasting love, unconditional love. Love that will wash you white as snow. Love that will mend a broken and shattered heart.
Love that will break chains of bondage. Love that will dispel the clouds of despair. Just as Jesus appeared to those who were leaving the tomb that morning and said, "Rejoice." He appears to people each and every day because he said in his own word, "Those who seek me will find me."
Are you seeking Jesus? When you seek him, he promises that you'll find him. And when you find him, you will rejoice. If you're sick and you seek him, you'll rejoice when you find that he's a healer. If you're in need and you seek him, you'll rejoice when you discover that he is El Shadai, the allsufficient one.
If you find that life is not worth living and you seek him, he'll give you a reason to live again. 2,000 years ago, the government doubted him just as the government and society doubts him today. 2,000 years ago, those who were trapped in their religious regulations and rules thought, "Who needs him?" just as self-righteous people think that they can do it without him today.
But 2,000 years ago, there was a group that was talking about Jesus. These were the individuals who had seen him do too much to deny him. I would suggest to you that there's a group of faithful people in this room and watching all across America and around the world today that you fit in this category.
You have seen him do way too much to deny him. >> This group of people are talking about Jesus and this group of people cannot be silenced. They cannot be intimidated. They cannot be manipulated by some form of legislation. They've seen Jesus do too much. They've walked with him through too many fires and not been burned.
They've been with him through flooded waters and they have not drowned. They've seen him calm storms and MOVE MOUNTAINS. THEY'VE WATCHED HIM TAKE the world that was falling apart and put it back TOGETHER AGAIN. AND INSTEAD OF TELLING THE WORLD THAT THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT HIM, THEY'RE TELLING everyone that they can what they've seen him do.
Church, I've seen him SET CAPTIVES FREE. I'VE SEEN HIM RESTORE MARRIAGES. I'VE SEEN HIM PUT BACK TOGETHER WHAT THE DEVIL TRIED TO DESTROY. I'VE SEEN HIM TURN LIVES AROUND. I'VE SEEN THE CONQUEROR OF CALVARY CURE CANCER. I'VE SEEN HIM MELT THE HARDEST OF HEARTS. I'VE SEEN HIM LOVE the unlovable and TOUCH THE UNTOUCHABLE AND DO THE IMPOSSIBLE.
SO DON'T TRY TO CONVINCE ME THAT HE IS NOT ALIVE BECAUSE I'VE SEEN HIM DO too much to deny him. ((applause)) ((applause)) Just as it was then, so it is now. Just as there were people talking about him then, THERE'S PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT HIM NOW. But there's very few who have truly met him.
Have you met Jesus or just been around people who have look at what happens when you meet Jesus? According to Matthew 28:9, as we read, you rejoice. Just as the risen Savior suddenly met these faithful women on resurrection's morning, he's still meeting people in this place today. There are those in this room, and there are many who are watching that you could say, "I was at the end of my rope.
I thought I had lost my mind and that my life was over. But I met Jesus >> and all things have become new. >> Sitting beside you to your left and right are testimonies that you've never heard. But I promise you, they would talk about drunks who are now sober and addicts who have now been set free and families that were scattered that have now been brought back together and hearts that were broken that have been mended and lives that were tormented that are now full of joy and meaning.
Ask those in need if they've met Jesus and whether or not he's a provider. Ask those who were sick if they've met Jesus and whether or not he is a healer. Ask those who WERE LOST IF THEY'VE MET Jesus and haven't discovered that he is a good shepherd who will leave the 99 just to go find the one.
WHEN YOU MEET JESUS, OLD THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY AND ALL THINGS HAVE BECOME NEW. REJOICE IN THE JOY OF YOUR SALVATION IF HE SET YOU FREE IN this place today. ((applause)) When you meet Jesus, you'll rejoice. Not only because all things are new, but because the resurrection reminds you that all things are possible. >> All things are possible. >> Resurrection's morning tells us that the impossible is possible. >> No one had ever predicted their death, predicted their resurrection, and then done it.
That's right. >> HAD HE NOT ACCOMPLISHED WHAT HE SAID, WHY WOULD WE CELEBRATE? But because he did it, all things are possible. >> You'll rejoice in the resurrection because the resurrection reminds you that every line, every letter, and every promise in his word is true. Every promise is certain.
How do we know? Because Jesus is alive. Every prophecy will be fulfilled. How do we know? Because Jesus is alive. Every miracle has been confirmed. How do we know? Because Jesus is alive. When you meet the resurrected Savior, you'll rejoice because it is a constant reminder that death has been defeated.
Prior to the resurrection, men worried about death. Men were tormented by death. Death was a prison cell in which your soul was forever locked. But after the resurrection, men don't worry about death. Those who believe IN CHRIST GET TO TALK TO DEATH. Because Paul wrote to the New Testament church, "And we will say in victory, oh death, WHERE IS THY STING?
And oh grave, WHERE IS THY VICTORY? FOR DEATH HAS BEEN SWALLOWED UP, and the grave is nothing more than a gateway to glory." Church, YOU CAN REJOICE IN CHRIST YOUR SAVIOR BECAUSE WE have life everlasting in and through the power of his mighty name. [applause and cheering] When Christ met those women on their way TO TELL THE DISCIPLES, HE SHOUTED.
How do I know he shouted? There's an exclamation point in the Bible. >> He shouted, "REJOICE. [screaming] YES. >> And do you know what I think he does each and every Sunday when we gather in the sanctuary for worship? I think he looks down at THE CHURCH THAT HE DIED TO REDEEM.
And if we could HEAR HIS VOICE SHOUTING FROM HEAVEN, HE WOULD LOOK DOWN AT US AND SAY, "REJOICE." ((applause)) >> But do you know what most of us do when we get together? Well, it's been a hard week. My check engine light came on. Just don't know what I'm going to do about it.
Change the oil. Church, the resurrection is not a once a year event. The resurrection is a reality that has changed every day that you will ever live and breathe. He is alive. He will be alive. And he is seated on the throne. Rejoice. And again I say rejoice.
((applause)) The world is full of gloom and despair and WE ARE THE SPREADERS OF IT. THE WORLD IS FULL OF DOUBT and worry AND THE CHURCH LOVES TO DISTRIBUTE IT. >> Just listen to the conversations we have. Well, it's the signs of the times. You forgot TO READ THE WHOLE PASSAGE.
AND WHEN ye see these signs, lift up your head AND WHAT? ((cheering)) >> OH, REJOICE. WHY? BECAUSE YOUR REDEMPTION DRAWETH NIGH. THE KING IS COMING IN THE CLOUDS OF GLORY WITH VICTORY in his hands. ((applause)) There's a phrase that the New Testament Christians used to use whenever they would see each other and that phrase was marinatha.
Do you know what Marinatha means? The king is coming. Jesus is coming. Now they had just seen him crucified and risen again and ascended into heaven. And the angel said that he would come in like manner. And every day that they lived and breathed for the rest of their lives, they would SEE EACH OTHER AND THEY WOULD SAY, "MARINATHA, the king is coming.
The king is coming. The king is coming." church. If they believed it back then, how much more should we believe it and celebrate it right now, knowing that Jesus Christ is soon to appear? And we who are alive and REMAIN SHALL BE CAUGHT UP to meet him. AND SO SHALL WE EVER BE WITH THE LORD.
EVEN SO, COME LORD JESUS. MARINATHA THE King is coming. ((cheering)) ((applause)) The secret to celebrating the resurrection in your everyday life, not just once a year, but each and every day, is to remember what Jesus said. Remember what Jesus said. Often times, people allow the circumstances and situations of their life to overwhelm them.
And when that happens, it's because they've forgotten what Jesus said. You say, "Well, you don't know what I'm going through." No, I don't. But he does. And that's who you need to remember, him. >> The disciples were so distraught after the crucifixion that they went and they hid and locked themselves behind doors because they were afraid that they would be accused of insurrection and that they themselves would be crucified next.
And when you read Luke's gospel the 24th chapter in the sixth verse, listen to what the angel of the Lord says to the disciples. He says,"Remember what he said." Say that with me. "Remember what he said." For three years they had been with Jesus Christ. For three years they followed the rabbi who was the word made flesh.
For three years they heard Jesus talk about his death and about his resurrection. And then suddenly when they see what he had been saying, THEY BECOME SO TERRIFIED that they forget what he said. People read the headlines in the paper these days and they're like, "Oh, what's going to happen?
JESUS TALKED ABOUT IT. Wars and rumors of wars and nation against nation and people AGAINST PEOPLE. FOX NEWS THINKS IT'S GOT LATE BREAKING STUFF. IT'S 2,000 YEARS OLD, FOLKS. But remember what he said in your life. If you'll remember what he said, no matter how difficult life gets, you'll find a reason to rejoice because every trouble and trial in life is conquered by this word that is alive and it is powerful and it does not re return void.
If life has caused YOU TO FORGET WHAT HE SAID, IF YOU'VE been through great reversal, if you've suffered tremendous loss, if your dreams have been shattered in tragedy, I WANT YOU TO REMEMBER WHAT Jesus said. Jesus said that you are the head and not the tail. And you are above and not beneath.
That greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. THE PSALMIST SAID, "I'VE NEVER SEEN the righteous forsaken, NOR THEIR SEED BEGGING BREAD." THE APOSTLE PAUL SAID, "YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR THROUGH CHRIST." HE CALLED YOU THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. HE DECLARED YOU THE BLOODBOUGHT, THE TRIUMPHANT CHURCH.
THAT THE GATES OF HELL ITSELF WOULD NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT. HE SAID, "GREATER is he who is in you than he who is in the world. AND WHATEVER YOU BIND ON THIS EARTH IS BOUND IN HEAVEN, AND WHATEVER YOU LOOSE ON THIS EARTH IS LOOSED IN HEAVEN." HE PROMISED HE'D OPEN THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN AND POUR OUT UPON YOU BLESSINGS THAT YOU COULD NOT CONTAIN.
THEY'D BE PRESSED DOWN, SHAKEN TOGETHER, AND RUNNING OVER. DON'T YOU DARE LET THIS WORLD OVERWHELM YOU. REMEMBER WHAT HE SAID. IF GOD BE BEFORE US, WHO CAN BE AGAINST US? GIVE THE LORD A SHOUT OF PRAISE. ((cheering)) ((applause)) The resurrection reminds us that when you meet the resurrected Savior, you're changed for eternity.
Look at the lives of his disciples prior to his resurrection and then their lives after his resurrection. There's probably no stark a contrast than that of Peter. Peter is hot and Peter is cold. Peter is daring and Peter is devilish. Before Christ's death, Peter promises, "I'll never leave you."
And just a few verses later, he's cursing and denying him. Peter knew the teachings. Peter saw the miracles. Peter heard the words and still couldn't make up his mind if he was in or if he was out. Even after the resurrection, when Mary and Martha come BACK AND THEY SAY, "HE'S ALIVE."
PETER SAYS, "I'm going fishing. I don't even want to find out." And there are many who fit into Peter's description. How many people do you know run hot and cold for their faith? For 30 days, they're all in. They do all kinds of crazy things. They take on crazy diets.
They quit eating meat for Jesus. I don't know why they refuse to listen to anything but Christian radio. They refuse to buy products that support any non-Christian causes. They start to boycott all kinds of things like cartoon characters, caffeine, and energy drinks. They go to four conferences. They sign up for 15 subscriptions.
They wake up at 4:00 a.m. and pray because God likes those who are losing sleep. They spend 6 hours in the word. And then they spend the rest of their day telling everyone who doesn't read as much as they do all the things that they found wrong in their life.
And then 30 days later, they're done. They start calling people who go to church every Sunday holy rollers. They start looking for every fault that they can and claim that religion is nothing but hypocrites. Why? Because no one has met their standard of righteousness. Yet they've forgotten that the Bible says our righteousness is as filthy rags. >> There's nothing you can do in yourself that is going to turn the head of God your direction.
Because without Jesus, we're nothing. >> Amen. >> Why are they this way? Why are they hot? Why are they cold? It's because they've heard the teachings and they've felt the spirit. THEY'VE HAD THE HAIR ON THEIR ARMS stand up. They've cried some tears. But meeting the resurrection, meeting the resurrected Savior is not a feeling.
It's a fact. You either have or you haven't. Look at Peter before the resurrection. No one knew what he was going to do. One day he professes Christ. Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God. The next day he's cutting off ears. That's not a good leadership quality.
But then after he meets Jesus Christ, the resurrected savior, after he sits and listens to him, after he knows that the one who WAS DEAD IS NOW ALIVE, HE has the confidence to stand in the streets of Jerusalem and preach the gospel on Pentecost and see 3,000 get saved.
He goes to prison for preaching the gospel. And when he gets out of prison, he finds his fellow Christians and he asks them to pray FOR HIM THAT HE would have more boldness to preach the gospel SO THAT THE NEXT TIME HE GOES TO JAIL, he really goes for a good reason. >> WHAT CHANGED PETER?
WHY DID HE SPEND THE REST OF HIS LIFE DECLARING ONE MESSAGE THAT THE ONE WHO WAS DEAD IS now alive? He's alive. He's alive. He's alive. That's all he TOLD THE WORLD. WHAT CHANGED HIM? He writes in his letter to the church, "We did not follow cunningly devised fables, but we were eyewitnesses of his glory."
Peter is saying, "I didn't listen to some storyteller. I was there when he calmed the storm. I was there when the demons fleed. I was there when he healed the sick. I was there when he broke the loaves and the fishes and he multiplied it for thousands. WHEN HE WALKED on water, I walked WITH HIM.
WHEN HE was arrested, I saw it. WHEN HE WAS BEATEN and crucified, I was at THE FOOT OF THE CROSS. AND WHEN HE ROSE AGAIN, I SAW HIM FACE TO FACE. PETER SAID, "IF THEY CRUCIFY ME, DO IT UPSIDE DOWN BECAUSE I'M NOT WORTHY TO BE CRUCIFIED LIKE MY LORD."
WHAT CHANGED PETER? A RESURRECTED SAVIOR. ((applause)) What gives you that kind of boldness? Meeting him, believing in him, and knowing that he who was dead is alive again. >> History records how the first century church was filled with disciples that turned the world upside down. They preached a message that brought Rome, the most powerful kingdom on the face of the earth, to its knees.
In spite of the affliction and the terror and the torment, they rejoiced in trial and tribulation. Why? Because he's alive. He's alive. He's alive. And they knew [clears throat] that if Christ had conquered death, then they would live, too. What message will turn this world upside down? He's alive. What message will turn your life around?
He's alive. What message would cause all of the saints to rejoice? Say it with me. He's alive. Have you met him? Do you know him? >> He's resurrecting lives that were broken and shattered by sin. He's resurrecting businesses. He's resurrecting marriages. The Bible says in Romans 8:1 that if the same spirit that raised Christ up from the dead, it dwells in you. >> It dwells in you.
That Holy Spirit was strong enough to conquer the grave and it dwells in you. That's a reason to rejoice today. >> You don't have to wait for victory. You can stand in victory because that spirit dwells in you. When you meet the resurrected savior, your heart of stone melt like melts like wax.
Your ego suddenly turns to humility. Your bitterness turns to loving kindness. Your rejection turns to confidence. Your fear becomes boldness because you understand that if he lives, you shall also live. >> Have you met him? If you have not in this life, you need to know that someday you will.
For when he ascended to the angels, he told his disciples that I will come. And the angel [snorts] told the disciples, "This same Jesus will come in like manner just as you have seen him go." The Bible tells us that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
Your opportunity to meet him today can change your life forever. or if you meet him in the future, you'll know that everything I have said is true and so much more. I close with this. I rejoice in the resurrection because his resurrection reminds me each and every day that the debt of my sin has been settled and paid.
There's a hymn that used to be sung in church. Jesus paid it all. All to him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain and he washed it white as snow. The Apostle Paul expressed it this way in First Corinthians. He said, "You were bought with a price."
Say that with me. You were bought with a price. Romans chapter 6 tells us that the wages of sin is death. And the price that Christ paid for the wages of my sin was his death. Death was a prison. And it was a penitentiary that I was supposed to be incarcerated in for eternity because of the sin that I had committed.
But when he rose again, >> do you know what that says? >> The debt has been paid. >> The debt has been paid. The debt has been paid. ((applause)) Even in our world today, when somebody goes to prison, there is a sentence upon the crime. And when the sentence is fulfilled, they say he has paid his debt to society.
Christ owed no man, but he took the place of this man. And he took your place and your place and your place. And he died our death. And when he rose again, he said, "The price has been paid. You don't have to die because I live. You shall also live.
You don't have to be sick because of the stripes that are on my back. You're now healed. You don't have to live under the weight and the yoke of poverty because I took off my poverty and became poor for your sake so that you could receive the riches of God my father in heaven. every need, every burden, every yoke, every con, every battle that you WOULD EVER FIGHT, HE CONQUERED IT.
And when he rose again, the debt was paid, church, he's alive. >> He's alive. He's alive. ((applause)) as Christ commanded. Rejoice. If you believe that he is a risen savior, would you stand to your feet and give him a hand clap of praise in this house today? Heavenly Father, we worship you.
((applause)) We exalt you. We magnify you. We adore you. We bless your holy name. We thank you that we can stand in this place tonight and in the mighty name of Jesus walk in the power and the might of your resurrection. The same spirit that conquered the grave lives in us.
And so tonight, whatever battles we're facing, whatever mountains we need to see moved, whatever needs that we have, we declare in the mighty name of Jesus, those battles are won. That victory is ours. and that you, heavenly father, have given us the keys in Jesus mighty name. We rejoice in our salvation.
Ushers, I would like for you to take your positions. We're going to close our service by celebrating the Holy Communion Church. I want you to sing in celebration with me. Because he lives, [music and singing] I can face tomorrow [singing] because ((music playing)) he lives. Ushers wait on the congregation. All fear is gone.
[music and singing] Because I know [music and singing] he holds ((music playing)) the future and life [singing and music] is worth the living just because he ((music playing)) lives. Because ((music playing)) he lives, [singing] I can face tomorrow ((music playing)) because [music and singing] he lives. All fear [singing] is ((music playing)) gone because [singing] I know ((music playing)) he holds the [singing] future and [music and singing] life is worth the living just because [music and singing] he lives. My life [singing] is worth the living just because [singing] he lives.
((music playing)) I want you to sing that one more time. My life [singing] is worth the ((music playing)) living just because [singing] he lives. ((music playing)) The Gospel of Matthew records that as they were eating, Jesus took the bread and he blessed it and he broke it and he gave it to the disciples and he said, "Take and eat for this is my body."
Can we take the symbol of the Lord's broken body? It says, "And then he took the cup and he gave thanks and he gave it to them saying, drink from it all of you." Can we take the symbol of the Lord's shed blood? He said, "For this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
But I say to you, I will not drink forth of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my father's kingdom. And when they had sung a hymn, they went ((music playing)) out to the Mount of Olives. Can we sing the Lord's Prayer in our ((music playing)) dismissal?
Our father [singing] which art in heaven [singing] hallow it be thy name. [singing] Thy kingom ((music playing)) come. Thy will be done [singing] on earth as it [singing] is in heaven. Give [singing] us this day our daily [singing] bread. And forgive us [music and singing] our debts as we forgive our debts. [singing] And lead us ((music playing)) not into temptation, but deliver ((music playing)) us from evil.
[music and singing] For thine ((music playing)) is the kingom and the [music and singing] power and the glory ((music playing)) forever. [singing] ((music playing)) Amen. [music and singing] [cheering and applause] ((music playing)) Can you lift your hand for the blessing? And now may the Lord bless you and may the Lord keep you. And may the Lord make his face to shine upon you. And may the Lord be gracious unto you and give you his peace.

Don't go away. Here's ((music playing)) more teaching from the word of God. Here in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ was kneeling and praying. His disciples were sleeping. And suddenly, a mob from the high priest's home comes to arrest him. Soldiers, temple guards, angry men, and one of Jesus very own friends.
Judas approaches him. And the Bible tells us very closely in Luke 22 and 48. Judas, are you betraying the son of man with a kiss? This was the question that Jesus asked. In this question, you can hear the grace that God gives to those who are about to do wrong.
He knew why Judas was there. He knew what Judas was about to do. But even in asking the question, he was wanting to make sure that Judas was going through with it and he needed to know he had a chance to back out. Another disciple awakes and he's very angry at what he sees.
Peter pulls a sword and he strikes one of the ((music playing)) temple guards. Jesus in grace and mercy picks up the wounded man's ear and restores him. Just a few hours later, Peter is outside the house of Caiaphas, the high priest, back up on the hill behind me in the city of Jerusalem.
There's a mock trial that's going on. There's false accusations ((music playing)) being extended. In this hour, Jesus needs Peter as a friend more than any hour in the three years that they've spent together. And yet, Peter does exactly what Judas did just a few moments ago. Judas denied him with a kiss.
Peter denied him with his words, not once, not twice, but three times. And then we hear the rooster crow. You know, often times I think it's funny how two human beings will judge one another, how someone like Peter will judge a Judas or how a Judas will judge a Peter.
But Christ extends grace to both. Christ extends grace ((music playing)) to all. to Judas. He extended a question just before he crossed the line. Whenever he rose just a few days later, Jesus tells his disciples, "Go tell my disciples and Peter." He wanted Peter to know that there was enough grace in his heart to be forgiven.
I want you to know no matter when you encounter Christ, no matter the moment that you come to the knowledge of who he is, no matter ((music playing)) what you've done, there's grace that he can extend to you today. The empty tomb is the miracle of the resurrection. The power of God ((music playing)) was not fulfilled in all of the wonders that we saw Christ perform in his earthly ministry.
His promise of our salvation was not kept on the cross. Actually, ((music playing)) that promise is found in an empty grave where Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death, defeating hell, and defeating ((music playing)) the grave. The miracle of the resurrection and the power of the Holy Spirit is what is ((music playing)) the promise of our salvation.
As a matter of fact, in Luke 24:es 6-8, ((music playing)) we read these words. It says, "He is not here, but he is risen." Remember how he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee, saying, "The ((music playing)) Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and the third day rise again."
And they remembered his words. I want you to consider that for just a moment. They remembered his words. Often times you and I forget the words of Jesus. It's not uncommon. Mary ((music playing)) and Mary Magdalene did. If they had remembered his words, they would not have come to the tomb early that morning where he had been buried on Friday night so that they could preserve his body with spices.
But when they arrived at the tomb, they found it empty. The stone that the Roman soldiers had placed in front to keep the body from being stolen had been rolled away. And Jesus, who they wrapped in linen and covered in frankincense and other spices, was no longer in the tomb.
There they found two men. And the Bible says they ((music playing)) were in dazzling robes and garments standing next to the tomb. These men were angels. And they told the women that Jesus was not there, that he had risen just as he said he would. The women then returned and told the disciples that Jesus' body was gone.
Peter couldn't believe it. He ran ((music playing)) when he heard the news to the tomb for himself. And he found what they saw. Jesus wasn't there. And he confirmed the words of the women. And then they all remembered his words. It's in that moment that the Holy Spirit began to flood their minds with the memories of the conversations ((music playing)) and the teachings and the things that they had heard when they walked with Jesus as his followers and disciples.
The disciples remembered his words and were encouraged. What has the Lord ((music playing)) spoken to you? Take a moment and consider the promises that you've read in his word. Consider the things that spiritual leaders, pastors, and others have prophesied to you. What dreams and visions has God planted in your heart through that still small voice of the Holy Spirit?
Think of every time that you have spoken his ((music playing)) promises in your life, believing that you would receive them in the future and rejoice in the fact that we have a God who is able to do exactly what he said he would do. Take hope and rest in the knowledge that you are not responsible to make the promise come to pass.
Remember what he ((music playing)) said. It's only our responsibility to trust and obey. To believe with all of our heart and lean not to our own understanding. Just like the women had forgotten that Jesus said he would rise on the third day. They came to the tomb. Had they remembered, they would have stayed in Jerusalem and just simply waited for him to appear.
It's easy for us to get busy in the responsibility of our lives, ((music playing)) believing that that will bring the hastening of God's promise. But I assure you, allow the Holy Spirit to bring back to your remembrance what ((music playing)) he has said. And in his promises, you'll find his provision. In his provision, you'll find that he's a God of more than enough.
As the Holy Spirit brings his words and his promises back to your remembrance, embrace them. Believe ((music playing)) them. Allow his Holy Spirit to do for you what these angels did when they saw Mary ((music playing)) and Mary Magdalene outside of this tomb. They said, "He is not here. Why do you look for the living ((music playing)) among the dead?"
Do you remember what he said? He is risen. You know, I consider this fact. They were looking for the right thing in the wrong place. Maybe you're like that. You've looked for God's provision in man's promises. You've looked for a breakthrough from something in the natural ((music playing)) earth. The reality of it is when you look for the right thing in the wrong place, you're never going to be satisfied.
But when you look for a supernatural breakthrough, from a supernatural promise from a supernatural God, I assure you, you are going to find that you have more than enough. ((music playing)) As a matter of fact, it's more than you could ask, think, or imagine. Don't look for what you need in ((music playing)) the wrong place.
Look for what you need in God's provision, in his promises. ((music playing)) Trust in him to make his word come alive in his perfect time that he will perfect his promise in your life today. Picture that first Easter morning so long ago. The disciples are just hearing the news from Mary Magdalene that Jesus is not in the tomb, that he is risen.
Can you imagine all that would have been going through their minds? We get a glimpse of it in John the 20th chapter beginning in verse three. Peter therefore went out and the other disciple [snorts] and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.
And he stooping down and looking in saw the linen clothes lying there. Yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter ((music playing)) came following him and went into the tomb and he saw the linen clothes lying there. Verse 7 says, "And the handkerchief that had been around his head was not lying with the linen clothes, but folded together in a place by itself."
So there you see two disciples just a few moments ago doubting that they had indeed walked with the King of Kings, yet daring to put a little bit of hope in the testimony of Mary Magdalene. Peter and John raced from the place that they were hiding for their lives to the tomb where they had just a few days ((music playing)) ago placed Jesus' body.
John beats Peter to the tomb and when he gets there, he walks in and notices that the body is gone. But he does not go to investigate any further. By the time Peter arrives, he looks and sees two sets of garments. one the linen garments that they had wrapped Jesus's body in and intombed him and the other is the folded cloth left behind by Jesus.
This is not just something that the Bible records and is details for us to consider. This folded cloth was left there behind by Jesus and it gives us not only a glimpse into Jewish culture, but it bears great significance. This handkerchief was called a talit. It was actually a prayer shaw that was given ((music playing)) to every Jewish boy who had gone past his 13th birthday.
In Judaism, if someone was done with a napkin, they would simply cast it aside, not take the time to fold it. But if they folded it, it was a symbol that they ((music playing)) planned to return and finish what they were doing. Jesus just didn't leave his talit lying in the tomb.
He carefully folded it. Now, if someone had snuck in and stolen the body of Jesus, why would they take the time to fold the talit? When Peter saw this folded talit sitting over in the corner, separate from the grave clothes, it was a very clear message. One, that someone had been in here and that someone was alive.
Two, the person who was in here was Jewish. The only individual who that could have been was Jesus Christ. The folded talit was his ((music playing)) message to them personally. I'm coming back. The talit says it all. The talit reminds us that Jesus is indeed going to return. That's the culmination of our hope.
That's what we look forward to. It is the prophecy that echoes ((music playing)) from Genesis all the way to Revelation. Jesus Christ, our savior, is coming back as Messiah. Everything Jesus did and ((music playing)) continues to do has purpose. Just as he took time to carefully fold the talit to give attention and detail to the disciples, Jesus is concerned about every detail of your life.
And he wants to move in your heart in a significant way. Be encouraged and look at ((music playing)) your situation and your life with fresh eyes, with eyes that take notice of every detail, knowing that the God who created heaven and earth is watching ((music playing)) over every facet of your being.
Don't overlook what God is doing today. Know that each ((music playing)) and every day his mercies are renewed and that he has a plan for you. That's what we read in Jeremiah 2011 29:11. The Bible says that God has a plan for you. A plan to prosper you, not to harm you, and to give you a hope and a future.
Your life is not an accident. Nothing happens by coincidence. You are a child of the most high God, and he has a unique purpose for your life and he will fulfill his word. If you feel lost ((music playing)) or abandoned, if you feel as though you have no hope, just know that Jesus wants to return to your life and breathe fresh hope to your dreams if you'll put your faith in a resurrected savior.
