Today we have our special needs choir called the Victorious Choir. They're here to share two songs to be able to lift up the name of Jesus. We pray that you are encouraged and blessed by this special ministry that is available to you and your family. should you ever decide to join us.
We are honored and excited to be able to have this choir here today. And again, this is a ministry that exists so that every child, every age group has a space and a place to lift up the name of Jesus. Will you help me welcome Victorious Choir from our special needs ministry?

[cheering and applause] >> We want to thank you for supporting our special needs ministry. What a blessing it is to be able to have our special needs ministry here with us lifting up the name of Jesus celebrating the fact that every kid in every age group phase of life has the opportunity to be here and lift up the name of Jesus.
We want to thank the Lord for this opportunity. We want to thank God that he has given us the privilege and the pleasure to be able to share the name of Jesus together. We are moments away from our founding pastor John Hegy sharing a powerful message. He is risen.
He's risen from the grave. Death, hell, and the grave have been defeated. And we are thankful that you have joined us today from wherever you are at. know that you are a part of this family and we desire that the name of Jesus be lifted up collectively. And so Tracy, yes, hosana in the highest.
We lift up his name. We welcome you. April, God bless you. Thank you for supporting our special needs ministry. This is a very unique ministry that ensures that every family member has the opportunity to worship the Lord together to lift up his name to ensure that the generations to come know the importance and value of lifting up his name.
Again, our founding pastor, John Higgy, is moments away from sharing a very special and powerful message. He is risen. Uh this message is timely because death, hell, and the grave have been defeated and because he lives, we live as well. And so we thank you for joining us again.
Betty from Missouri, we appreciate you being with us here. Teresa, God bless you. Thank you for joining us. Uh Diana, God bless you. It is a joy to be in the house of the Lord together and to lift up his holy name. Now, the director of our special needs ministry is Justy Osa.
She helps to lead this special initiative. We're going to invite her to come right now and share a little bit about this ministry. Jesse, God bless you. >> Good morning, pastor. Thank you. Well, we have just witnessed a very beautiful scene of our special needs ministry lifting up the name of Jesus.
We want to thank you for the uh initiative endeavor that you have to minister to this very unique important value uh uh part of our families and ministry. Will you share a little bit about the special needs ministry? How it came about? How people can get involved if they have not heard about it? >> Yeah, absolutely.
So our special needs ministry has a various range of ages. Our youngest student just turned four in December and our eldest student is 80. So we serve various ages, various abilities. We provide a church experience unique for that individual with special needs. So entire entire families can participate in church experience here at Cornerstone.
Uh we do worship, lesson, craft, snack. They all love snack. And a great way to get involved is to volunteer to give. I want to do a quick shout out to one of our partners in California. So, Miss Christine and her husband Michael do a phenomenal job of giving to the ministry and there's so many more across the world uh that gives to the ministry and that directly impacts our ministry.
So, we're able to do things like this like choir, like our events, VBS day camp, and so forth. We want to thank you because your praying and your giving is going to giving this generation an opportunity to lift up the name of Jesus. If you ever have an opportunity to join us and you know someone that has a special needs uh child or individual, we invite you to bring them to Miss Justy.
Her entire team and staff are ready and willing to receive your special needs individual and ensure that they are blessed and plugged in. Well, God bless you. Thank you for being with us and thank you for the beautiful opportunity we had to listen to victorious choir. Be on the lookout.
This beautiful choir is lifting up the name of Jesus in a unique way. Thank you. >> Well again, He is risen is the title of today's message from our founding pastor John Hegy. We thank you for joining us as we highly anticipate that you and your family are going to be blessed this resurrection Sunday because death, hell, and the grave have been defeated.
Spoiler alert, Jesus is not in the tomb. He's not in the cross. He is alive and he is well. And because he lives, we live as well. We want to welcome uh Marisa. God bless you. Thank you for joining us. Diana, God bless you. It is a privilege to have you here.
We have people from Pakistan, Guatemala that are watching. We have people from India. Thank you for being here, from the UK, and so many others. This is the day the Lord has made and we are rejoicing and we are thankful that you have joined us today. Well, if you were not part of Good Friday, we had a very special drama presentation, a play called Witnesses, this is an eye account of what it was like to be a witness when Jesus was betrayed, he was crucified, and he rose again.
This is a unique play in the sense that there are certain aspects that are creative and introduce different perspectives into the story of the crucifixion. We have a couple of cast members that are here with us. Dylan is first. Dylan is joining us as he participated in the God bless you Dylan. >> God bless you >> in the uh play.
Dylan, thank you for joining us again and share with us your role, how it impacted your life, and uh how it ministered to you. >> Absolutely. So, my role was a character called Martialis, an original character by the writing team here. Um, and he he's a thief. He makes one really bad decision, ends up sentenced to death, uh, and he becomes kind of the perfect person for a mystery figure in the cell to witness to.
His story is is a rough one, but he goes along this awesome journey throughout the play of coming to know who Jesus was. And for me and myself, it was impactful to me because I knew I got to share that with everybody. And that meant the world to me.
So, >> absolutely. Absolutely. So true and evident that in some form or fashion, we can all be in a cell, maybe a physical cell, an emotional cell, but yet there is someone, his name is Jesus, that breaks every chain and grip of darkness and connects us with him.
If somebody has not seen the play, I understand you can watch it uninterrupted if you go to sa cornerstone.org/esteraster. We want you to watch this and be blessed by the efforts and the talents of those that participated. Uh those that have not watched it, uh what do you feel impacted you the most that may perhaps impact others? >> Oh yeah, of course.
So I get to share a very special moment and it's kind it's kind of a oneon-one with me, the audience, and God at the end of the play. And that impacted me and I know it impacts a lot of other people that are paying attention and watching this because it's a it's a call to action for a lot of Christians to to to be a witness yourself.
God shows you all these wonderful things and gives you such a wonderful story and yes it brings you closer to God but what you have to do with that our mission as Christians is to share that with everybody that you can and to be a witness and that is the whole whole point of the play. >> Absolutely.
We are called to be witnesses of the goodness, the favor, and the blessing of God. Through our witness, we declare that he's no longer on the cross. Amen. >> He is alive and well. The tomb is empty, and we have victory because of Jesus. >> Amen. >> God bless you.
God bless you. >> Thank you for joining us. >> We are moments away from our resurrection service. The title of today's message is He is Risen. The title of the play on Good Friday is The Witnesses and we encourage you to go to sa cornerstone.org/esteraster to watch it uninterrupted.
Now, we also have another uh cast member who is joining us. Orlando is here with us. He's actually in costume. He's in character and we're so thankful that he's joined us today as he shares his experience. Orlando, God bless you. >> Hello. God bless you, too. Thank you for being with us.
Well, we appreciate that you are here with us and in full bloom, if you will, in your character and your persona. Thank you for your effort in time. Share with us what your role was and how it impacted you. >> Well, I am the prisoner. My name is ah sacornerstone.org/esteraster.
That's how you find out who I am. But it's a strange world when an emperor will destroy you for what is in your mind, what's in your heart, joy and peace. It's a strange world. But once we find the answer to that, once we come out of our prison cell, once we understand that Jesus Christ came to pay the debt of sin we owe, then we have to be ready to die for this belief, we have to be ready, right?
Jesus Christ died for us. >> Absolutely. >> And that's what the story tells. I think sacornerstone.org/esteraster. >> That's right. >> Amen. >> Orlando plays the role of a prisoner and we are able to see the perspective through his eyes on how Jesus can set us free and make a difference.
This is uh uh I understand there's music involved. There's there's special effects involved. What was your favorite part about this play? >> Well, it was all glorious. I I I just I just love the experience. I love the the actors who are members of the church. They are people who have chosen to given to give a part of their lives to this effort.
And that that could be you out there. Join this church. Come here and connect and learn and grow and and and this kind of big adventure can be yours as well. My my biggest thing was to and I think you've alluded to earlier is you might be stuck in some prison, stuck behind the walls of something, but learning about Christ can can bring you out of that.
He will connect with you and he will he will save you. >> Amen. Jesus has and continues to be the answer for the world today. He breaks walls. He sets the blind free. He redeems us and restores us and he can do the same for you today my friend.
Thank you so much Orlando. God bless you. >> I am the prisoner. >> The prisoner is with us and he uh is someone that has been impacted by this powerful account of how he Jesus can set us free. Again, we're moments away from our service. We're thankful that you've joined us today.
Our founding pastor John Hegy is in the pool pit and sharing with us the message of truth, the message of transformation that has the power to raise from the dead, especially Jesus as we see that he is no longer in the tomb, no longer on the cross. Listen, if you have a prayer request, [snorts] we want you to visit us at jhm.org.
There's a live interactive prayer wall giving us the opportunity to connect and believe God for the miracle that you are needing in your life. Our God still performs miracles. There's nothing impossible for him. He is able to meet every need. His word says to ask and we'll ask.
His word says to believe and will believe that he is able to meet all of our needs. And so again, we welcome you to the house of the Lord. Those that are joining us, April, God bless you this resurrection Sunday. Joseph who is watching, may the Lord bless you all the way in Kenya.
May God bless you. Thank you for being there. JC, we're here and believe that God is going to speak and minister to you and your family. Wendy, we welcome you from Kentucky. We're asking the peace and the favor of God to be with you and your family as we lift up the name that is above every name.
Well, speaking of lifting up the name of Jesus, we have a very strong women's ministry called Embrace. And they would like to invite all the ladies out there to something that is called finding your inner warrior. This is a disciplehip study. It's Wednesdays uh beginning April the 1st through the 22nd.
This is an opportunity for you ladies to come together, encourage one another, form friendships and uh uh community so that you will be able to grow in fellowship. You'll be able to grow in your faith and be encouraged that there are other women of God that desire to move forward and be all that God has called them to be.
Again, this is finding your inner warrior. It's a weekly disciplehip study and it's happening on Wednesday. Along with that, there is a garden party social that we would like for mothers and daughters to be a part of. This is happening May 16th on Saturday. You can register at sacornerstone.org/mbbrace.
This is an opportunity for mothers to be a blessing to their daughters. Come together and ensure that a time of fellowship, biblical teaching, great fun, an atmosphere of growth and connection is taking place. Be sure to register for this upand cominging event. Now men, you're we don't want to leave you out.
There is something for you as well. We are beginning a threeon3 basketball tournament here at CCS. It starts April the 13th and goes through May the 11th. It's on Monday nights at 6:30 p.m. in one of our gyms. Register so that you can get your team of three or even individuals and we'll pair you up with a team.
You can register at sacornstone.org/men. Men, get involved. to be a part of what it is to get connected with other men that desire to have fun, to have community, but also to be in a Christlike environment so that you can grow with other believers that desire to advance in what God has called them to be, which are the leaders of their home.
Now, if basketball men is not your thing, we have a golf tournament that is in full swing right now. It's uh our next one is Thursday, April the 16th. It's happening at Buckhorn Golf Course. Register, be a part of this. There are a lot of men that are churched and unchurched coming together to play golf under the banner of Jesus and great community and connection.
Men, this is a chance to get plugged in. This is a chance to meet other men that desire to grow in their walk with the Lord and in fellowship with other men that want to see the Lord as a priority in their life. Listen, there is something for everyone here at Cornerstone.
We desire for you to get plugged in and involved. If you are beyond uh the region or the ability to drive, that is okay. There is always great Bible teaching content that is uploaded on a continual basis. We encourage you to watch past sermons, even past events at jhm.org.
You can also go to our YouTube channel, Heggy Ministries, to get caught up to the latest great Bible teaching content. Matter of fact, after this service, [snorts] stay tuned for the Sunday conversation with our lead pastor, Matt Hegy, as he takes scripture, breaks it down, applies the wisdom, applies the precepts, so that you and I can use it in everyday life and ensure that we are walking in accordance to the precepts, to the command of God, honoring him so that God will continue to honor our efforts.
Again, we're moments away. It's resurrection Sunday. Jesus is alive. He's not in the tomb. He is well. He's not in the cross. And because he lives, you and I live as well. We're praying God's blessing, God's favor over you and your family. Joseph, God bless you again. Thank you for being here.
Trisha, may the Lord bless you from Florida. Alice, yes, he is alive and well. And we are asking that if you have prayer requests, go to jhm.org right now. Type on the prayer wall your prayer requests so that we can believe God for the miracles that you are needing in your life.
He is a chain breaker. He is a miracle worker. There is nothing impossible for him. You're not done because God's not done working in your life. We're standing with you in prayer. You have a family here at Cornerstone Church, Hegy Ministries, and we are asking that you would remain connected here with us as we grow together and all that God has called us to do and called us to be.
Again, we're moments away from our service, resurrection service. He's alive. He's well. We're thankful that you are celebrating with us. Get your family together as we lift up the name that is above every name. the name in which every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that he is Lord of all.
Let's pray right now as we begin to go into service. Father, we thank you for your word. We thank you for your presence. We thank you that you sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. You paid a debt that we owed that you did not.
But we receive it now in the mighty name of Jesus. We lift up your name and we thank you for all that you've done. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. And amen. Welcome to Cornerstone ((music playing)) Church. Nearly 2,000 years ago, angels stood beside a borrowed tomb and made a declaration that changed the world.
He is not here. He is risen. >> The ((music playing)) greatest news the world has ever heard is still true today. Jesus Christ, ((music playing)) God's son, our savior, is alive, risen in power, seated ((music playing)) at the right hand of God our father in glory. >> Today, we welcome you to this special service.
And wherever you are watching from, we want you to know ((music playing)) that our prayer for you today is that you would feel the presence of the risen savior and that his joy, his peace would fill your heart ((music playing)) and your life. >> We are here to celebrate one unshakable truth.
Because ((music playing)) he lives, we have eternal life. Because he conquered death, we live and breathe in victory. ((music playing)) >> Jesus said, "I am he who lives and was dead and am alive forever more. And I ((music playing)) have the keys to death in the grave." Church, for all who belong to him, Christ has set us free.
And because you are free and forgiven based on his ((music playing)) work at Calvary, we have victory in this life. >> The risen Savior is watching over you. He has a purpose for your life, promises for ((music playing)) your future, and a hope for every tomorrow. So rejoice with us as we worship our risen Savior.
Every Sunday, we gather to remember who Christ is ((music playing)) and all that he has done. We remember the powerful promises of his word. We remember his mercy, ((music playing)) grace, love, and kindness. >> So, we're so glad that you're here today at Cornerstone Church. Your service is about to begin. It began with an exchange.
Innocence for guilt, silence or surrender. The weight of every wound was lifted onto his shoulders. nails didn't just pierce his hands. They held the brokenness of the world in place. The lamb was promised long before the blood was spilled. A sacrifice whispered through generations. The sky grew dark, ((music playing)) the earth held its breath, and love paid its highest price.
Then came the silence. One day hope sink buried. Two days heaven felt quiet. Three days the ((music playing)) grave thought it had won. But death couldn't hold him. The grave couldn't keep him. The cross didn't finish him. Because on ((music playing)) the third day, the same breath that formed creation filled empty ((music playing)) lungs again.
[singing] ((music playing)) >> Celebrate with us our risen savior. ((music playing)) Dead come alive in the day. Declare that dead things come alive. Dead things come alive. Dead ((music playing)) things come alive in the name of Jesus. Dead things come alive. Dead come alive. ((music playing)) Dead come alive today. [singing] I call you Jesus. I call you I call you healer.
((music playing)) Risen and raining in power. Something ((music playing)) comes out of the grave. Every time ((music playing)) I call you Jesus, [singing] I call you. I call you savior. Worthy ((music playing)) of glory forever. Something comes out of the grave. Every ((music playing)) time [singing] I call your name. Can somebody say hallelujah in this room? ((music playing)) Listen to this.
I know a name. ((music playing)) Yeah. That can empty [singing] out a grave. I know a key. Hallelujah. With ((music playing)) dominion over death. Yes, he holds a key. ((music playing)) In his holy male scarred hands are resurrected ((music playing)) great I am. I call you Jesus. [singing] I call you I call you ((music playing)) healer. Risen and raining in something.
((music playing)) And every time I call you Jesus, I ((music playing)) call you. I call you save worthy ((music playing)) of the glory forever. Something comes out of the grave. >> Now, cornerstone, listen ((music playing)) to this. I call your name. The chains break the ((music playing)) tri away. Every time I call your name, the [singing] gates of ((music playing)) shake.
Every time I call your name, the chain break ((music playing)) the tri away. Every time I call your name, I ((music playing)) will say every time I ((music playing)) Cornerstone Church, he's alive. Come on. I said cornerstone. He's alive and he's in the room today. ((music playing)) Can you declare this with us? Where is your seat?
Where [music and singing] is now your seat? And ((music playing)) where, oh grave, your victory? ((music playing)) Where oh day is now ((music playing)) your seat [singing] and where all ((music playing)) glory glory ((music playing)) dead come [singing] alive ((music playing)) come alive in the name of Jesus dead ((music playing)) is coming alive [singing] is coming Dead come alive in ((music playing)) the name of death. Dead ((music playing)) come alive in the name of Jesus.
((music playing)) Dead come alive in the name. I call you Jesus. [music and singing] I call you. I call you Jesus. >> ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> Every time I call you Jesus, I call you. ((music playing)) I call you savior. [singing] Worthy of glory forever. ((music playing)) This is what happens every time. ((music playing)) Every time I change the tri ((music playing)) ((music playing)) [singing] of Jesus Head ((music playing)) is going to lie.
Heaven is alive in the name of Jesus [singing] Christ. ((music playing)) Don't lift a shout of victory in this room. The King of Kings is alive. ((music playing)) Hallelujah. Behold the ((music playing)) lamb [singing] upon the cross ((music playing)) who [singing] takes away the sins of all. ((music playing)) Forgiveness flows from hands [singing and music] and feet as violence fees. The ((music playing)) prince [singing] of peace.
Behold the ((music playing)) king. Enlight the world. The lamb ((music playing)) that will save. [singing] The light of host. ((music playing)) So mighty say [singing] the force ((music playing)) of God can't be kept in a grave. Through darkness your ((music playing)) hour is over. [singing] [snorts] Behold ((music playing)) the love his dying clean. Behold [singing] the grace of ((music playing)) Calary. That rugged [singing] cross soon to be the emblem [singing] of ((music playing)) a risen king.
Behold the ((music playing)) king. Behold the king. >> ((music playing)) >> I am the world ((music playing)) and I might [singing] say the fullness of God ((music playing)) will be kept in a grave darkness. ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. I ((music playing)) might say the fullness ((music playing)) of God won't be kept in the grave. In darkness, ((music playing)) your darkness is over. >> Yeah. >> For he is a light.
Yes. He's [singing] risen. All ((music playing)) the darkness is over. No enemy could hold you [singing] down. Cuz there's nobody in the grave now. One hand gets to wear that crown. Cuz there's [singing] nobody ((music playing)) in the grave now. No enemy can hold [singing] you down. Cuz there's ((music playing)) nobody in the grave now. One head gets [singing] to wear ((music playing)) that crown.
Cuz there's nobody in the grave now. No enemy can hold you down. Cuz there's [music and singing] nobody in the grave now. One hand is wear ((music playing)) that clown. Cuz there's nobody in the grave now. ((music playing)) No enemy can hold you down. Cuz there's nobody in the way now. ((music playing)) Cuz there's nobody in the way.
((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) Hey, ((music playing)) no [singing] way to hold you down. Cuz there's nobody nowhere. ((music playing)) Cuz there's nobody ((music playing)) can hold you down. Heat. Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. ((music playing)) Heat. Heat. Heat. [singing] ((music playing)) darkness. Your ((music playing)) power is over ((music playing)) because he lives. You and ((music playing)) I can live today. If you believe that, can you sing this ((music playing)) with us?
Because he lives ((music playing)) I can face tomorrow because [music and singing] sing all fear is gone. All fear is ((music playing)) gone because ((music playing)) I know he holds the ((music playing)) future. He can ((music playing)) his word the living because he liv. Hallelujah. ((music playing)) Because he can face ((music playing)) tomorrow ((music playing)) ((music playing)) because I >> ((music playing)) >> Behold the future and life ((music playing)) is worth the living because if you believe ((music playing)) that life is worth [singing] his word the living ((music playing)) because >> ((music playing)) >> Can you give a shout of victory in this house?
((music playing)) Thank you, Jesus. You're alive. Hallelujah. ((music playing)) Church, God bless you. You may be seated. ((music playing)) Today we celebrate the greatest victory in ((music playing)) history. The stone was rolled away, the grave was defeated, and Jesus is alive. >> Easter reminds us that death lost its power. Sin lost its hope and hope was restored to the world.
((music playing)) >> But the cross was not just about forgiveness and the resurrection was not just about eternity. Jesus didn't ((music playing)) only die to save us. He died to build something eternal. He died for his church. ((music playing)) >> See, the church was never meant to be just a place that you attend. >> The church is a family, ((music playing)) a movement, a mission.
And here at Cornerstone, we believe God builds people through his church. >> If today is your first time here, then welcome. You're not here by accident. See, God brought you here for a reason. Not just to sit in a seat, but to discover your purpose. >> Because every ((music playing)) believer is called to grow, to lead, and to make a difference.
That's why we invest in every generation from our kids ministry to the ark, youth, college, marriage, ((music playing)) Spanish, and our special needs ministry. If you are wanting to grow, it happens when we walk together through groups on Wednesday nights and grow with us on Sunday nights. There you can expect to be challenged and supported in your walk with Christ. >> I would like to challenge you.
((music playing)) Take the next step. Join a connect group. Get connected. Serve. Because when you build God's house, God builds something powerful ((music playing)) in you. If you're ready to be connected here at Cornerstone Church, you can fill out one of these ((music playing)) cards located in the back of our sanctuary seats or go to ((music playing)) sap cornerstone.org/ I'm ready.

So I encourage you to go to sacornstone.org and find out how you and your family can connect in some of the exciting events that are going to be taking place. Speaking of exciting events, you've got a special date circled on your calendar and it just happens to be next Sunday, April the 12th.
What exactly is so exciting about this wonderful day? >> April 12th, I'll be 86 years of age. ((applause)) And as much as I got married on my birthday, April 12th is my 50th wedding anniversary. ((applause)) It's going to be an exciting day. It's going to be an exciting Sunday. So, you are going to be sharing the word on April the 12th.
What are you going to preach on next week? You know, 68 years ago when I walked into the pull pit for the first time, I preached a very simple sermon on the place called Calvary. And as I was reading the scripture the other day, thinking about what I would say on this particular day, I read the words of St.
Paul that said, "God forbid that I should cease to be a wonder to anything other than the cross of Jesus Christ my Lord." So, I'm going to go right back to the cross and carry it [clears throat] to the next dimension. Amen. ((applause)) Well, we're looking forward to celebrating not only those two special occasions, but hearing a wonderful message.
I encourage you to write that date down and be here with us next Sunday as we have a great opportunity to gather again and celebrate the goodness of God. The way that we're able to accomplish the mission of our ministry, which is taking all the gospel to all of the world and to every generation, the way that we're able to bless the community here in San Antonio and serve those that gather here on Sunday is through the receiving of tithes and offerings.
And so I'll ask our ushers to take their positions as this morning we worship the Lord with giving. And those of you who are watching, you too can participate. Simply go to sacorn cornerstone.org/give or text the word give to 21108802300. Call us at 855-694-9653 or write P. Box 34-930, San Antonio, Texas 78265.

This is the time that America needs a spiritual awakening that can only be accomplished by the proclamation of the word of God. Thank you for your servants in this room, in this nation, and [clears throat] across the world whose contributions make it possible for us to keep the torch of truth burning brightly in a nation that's lost its compass.
In Jesus' name, we pray that this message may bring oldfashioned revival to our nation now. Amen. And amen. >> ((music playing)) >> We thank you for joining us this special resurrection service. Our God is alive. Well, spoiler alert, he is no longer in the tomb. He is alive and well in our lives.
And because he lives, we live as well. This is a segment in which we pray for the needs that have come to our jhm.org or prayer wall believing God for the miracles that are needed in your life. We're praying for Mary who is needing uh the 93year-old friend of yours touched by the hand of the Lord.
There is nothing impossible for God. And so right now we specifically pray over the heart condition that the Lord would provide healing and restoration. Dorene from California, we're praying over the urgent prayer requests that you submitted that the hand of the Lord would be upon your family, upon this situation.
We're praying waring angels of the Holy Ghost to surround you in all that you do. Charlotte, we are praying protection, favor, and blessings of God over you and your children that have been lost in the world that God would bring them back, restore them into right relationship. As we go back to service, be reminded that our God is alive and he's not done. So you're not done. Blessings. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat. ((music playing)) ((music playing)) Heat.

[singing] ((music playing)) ((music playing)) [singing] >> ((music playing)) ((cheering)) ((applause)) >> He is the word of God, a prophet, ((music playing)) a servant. He is the bread of life, a shepherd and the lamb. >> ((music playing)) >> He is the messenger.
He is the humble king. ((music playing)) He is the son of God. He was rejected and abandoned. ((music playing)) He was betrayed and condemned. He was mocked and beaten, bruised and pierced. ((music playing)) He was crucified and buried. But the nails could not hold him. The cross could not finish him. The stone could ((music playing)) not keep him.
Death could not defeat him. He is our ransom and our redeemer. He's ((music playing)) our deliverer and our refuge. He is mighty. He is glorious. He is holy ((music playing)) and exalted. He is our savior and he is risen. Risen. Will you please stand for the reading of God's word? Turn with us to the book of Matthew, chapter 24, and we'll read the first eight verses.
The resurrection story is captured in three words. He is risen. Say that with me. He is risen. >> Christianity rises or falls on the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave, sealed by Roman Empire and guarded by Roman soldiers. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, our faith is a colossal hoax.
Our songs and our sermons are delusional. Our cathedrals of worship, our monuments of to a corpse from the word of God. Today, I want to show you the absolute Bible proof that Jesus Christ rose from the dead just as he promised. The best news the world has ever heard came out of a cemetery.
He is risen. He is risen. He is risen. [applause and cheering] Those three words shook the Roman Empire. Matthew 28:14 says it's the story of how Rome gave large sums of money to bribe the Roman guards who personally witnessed the resurrection of Jesus. Their instructions to the guards was, "Tell the people his disciples stole the body while you were sleeping."
The guards took the money. They lied to the public. And those lies still live today in the minds and hearts of some people. But according to Matthew 28, the resurrection of Jesus Christ shook the Roman Empire to the core. Let's read the resurrection story in Luke 24. Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the suppler, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
And they found the stone rolled away from the suppler, and entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass as they were much perplexed thereabout that two men standing by them in shining garments that would be angels. And they were afraid and bowed down their faces to the earth.
And they said unto them, why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here but is risen. Remember how he spake spoke unto you when he was in Galilee, saying, "The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise again."
And then they said, "And then they remembered his words." And then they remembered his words. Let's pray. Our most gracious heavenly father, we've gathered in the house of the Lord today to celebrate the glorious and victorious victory of Jesus Christ over death, hell, and the grave. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was the dawning of hope for all believers.
Because he lives, we shall also live forever. Bless the message to the body of Christ watching across America and around the world. In the authority of Jesus name we pray and [clears throat] say amen. >> Amen. You may be seated. Here's the resurrection story. Last Thursday night, 2,000 years ago, following the Passover meal with his disciples, Jesus of Nazareth was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Just outside the eastern walls of Jerusalem, his disciples slept as he sweat drops of crimson blood from his brow. Hear the agony of his cry from that garden. Father, if it's possible, let this cup pass from me. and then pause to think, but nevertheless, not my will [clears throat] but thy will be done.
His destiny was the cross. He was the lamb of God slain from the foundations of the earth. He went to his disciples who were sleeping and he said, "Could you not watch with me one hour the fact the disciples were sleeping in history's most crucial hour? Are we not doing the same thing right now in America?
America is in a moral, spiritual, and political crisis while the church with its hot tub feelgood Christianity slumbers in the day of spiritual crisis. Ladies and gentlemen of America, it's time for an oldfashioned revival of righteousness to explode in these United States of America. ((applause)) Back to the story.
Suddenly through the olive trees or seen the flaming torches of 500 Roman soldiers marching in columns coming from the Antonian fortress. They surround the Lord of glory and their commander said, "We seek Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus calmly answered, "I am he." The Roman soldiers fell to the ground.
Their armor, their swords, and their shields. They look like dead men. Why? Because Jesus said, "No man takes my life. I lay it down of my own free will." The truth is Rome could not convict him. The cross could not conquer him. The grave could not contain him.
Satan could not defeat him. Why? Because he was, he is, and always will be the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. ((applause)) He is the conqueror of death, hell, and the grave. And of his kingdom there will be no end. Hallelujah to the lamb of God. ((applause)) Jesus looked at them and said, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."
Jesus is standing, the portrait of absolute power. The Roman soldiers are on the ground trembling in katonic fear, powerless. Jesus Christ of Nazareth was and still is the mighty conqueror. He has conquered death, hell, and the grave. He has conquered sickness and disease. He has conquered fear and death.
And he has given to us hope for tomorrow. He is the Lord of glory. He is the lion of the tribe of Judah. He is the alpha and the omega, the first and the last. He is the mighty God, the everlasting father and the prince of peace. Give him praise in this house this morning.
((applause)) Judas the deceiver, the devil's advocate. Judas who cherished money more than the master. Judas who betrayed Jesus with a kiss. Peter slashed off the ear of the servant of the high priest. Why? This servant of the high priest was a Jew. And according to the law of Moses, he could not serve in the temple with a physical defect. simply saying by the cutting off of his ear he had a physical defect that destroyed his career.
He was done. Jesus's response with his final miracle on this earth. Jesus healed the ear of the man who had come to attack him. Jesus restored his career and he told Peter, "Put up your sword. Too many Christians running around with sword whacking at each other. The message we're getting here is people are not one to Christ through violence.
They're one to Christ through the demonstration of God's amazing love. ((applause)) >> Jesus was taken to to Pilate and said, "I find no fault with this man. By Roman law, the trial should have stopped right there. But the Pharisees were not after justice. They were after his life. He was taken to Herod, whose men of war slapped him.
They spit upon him. They crowned him with thorns. They ripped off his seamless robe and mocked him with a scarlet robe, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews. Tell us who slapped you." Jesus was sent back to Pilate a second time where he was beaten with a Roman cat of ninetails with 39 stripes. 39 stripes because by Roman law anymore was considered a death sentence.
The body simply could not stand the loss of blood. Listen in the theater of your mind. Hear the cat of nine tales ripping open the back of the son of God. It was for you and for you and for you and for me. That crimson stream of blood down his back onto the cobblestone floors says, "By his stripes we are healed."
By his stripes we are healed. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. ((applause)) Those who are watching by television today who need healing. Those of you who are in this room who need healing, that healing power is alive and well in the 21st century. Sickness and disease must bow in the presence of Jesus Christ.
The healer is in the house today. He has said, ((applause)) he has said, "Call upon me and I will show you great and mighty things that you know not." Jesus was sentenced to death by crucifixion on an old rugged cross that was placed on his blood soaked back as he dragged it slowly over the cobblestone streets in Jerusalem.
From the whipping post to Calvary was 650 yards of total agony. As he dragged his cross to Calvary, he saw Jewish mothers weeping. And he said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children." Because Jesus knew their future. He looked through the telescope of prophecy into the future and he saw the Roman army 37 years later killing 1 million 1 million Jewish people in Jerusalem. 60 60,000 to 100,000 men were taken slaves back to Italy to build the Roman coliseum that stands to this day.
He saw the eight crusades sponsored by the Roman church. He saw the Spanish Inquisition. He saw the horror of the Holocaust. He said, "Don't weep for me, but weep for yourselves and weep for your children." Up the bloody slopes he climbed to the place called Calvary, where atheistic hands nailed his precious hands, the son of God, to the cross.
Friday afternoon, April the 3, 33 AD, at exactly 3:00, Jesus Christ, the son of God, bowed his blood soaked head, adorned with a crown of thorns, and he shouted in agony, "It is finished. It is finished." ((applause)) What was finished? Death, hell, and the grave were finished. Satan was finished as a fearful force to threaten you and you and you and me.
We are free from his dominion, free from the power of sin. Satan's power to control your life was finished. Now the lamb of God has provided forgiveness for sin. He has provided mercy with the Lord. new. There's a new beginning for every life that has ever failed. There's a new beginning.
There's hope for tomorrow. There is peace in the midst of the storm. Now there is joy that is unspeakable and full of glory. Now the seed of the woman has crushed the head of the serpent. Satan is defeated forever. ((applause)) Now the lamb of God has become the lion of Judah and he is victorious over death, hell, and the grave.
Before sundown on the Sabbath, which was Friday, his followers took his blood soaked body down from the cross and wrapped it in burial clothes with a 100 pounds of spices and laid him in the borrowed tomb of Joseph of Arythea. All night Friday night, Saturday and Saturday night, the giver of life lay dead.
Demons rejoiced that he whom they feared was dead. Roman politicians gloated, "We shut up that troublemaker from Galilee is boasting about eternal kingdom and being the king of the Jews." Look at him now. His disciples scattered in terror, haunted by the memory of the blood soaked corpse on the cross.
Powerless and pathetic, naked and needy, the portrait of scandal, of suffering, of shame, Mary, the mother of Jesus, wept at the base of the cross as the as the blood of her son dripped in the dust at her feet. Roman guard struted and said, "His tomb has been sealed."
In the eyes of the Roman world, he was dead and dead forever. It was over. Satan was walking the corridors of hell, laughed in spasms of demonic joy. I have finally won this fight. I have finally won. From the Garden of Eden to today, we have been fighting to see who would rule planet Earth, "I am the conqueror."
Satan shouted with unspeakable joy. Death was still all powerful. The grave was a dark, gloomy, unconquered pit. Then [snorts] came the morning of the third day. The third day was the rosy dawn of hope itself. The third day was the resurrection morning. On the third day, angels swooped from the balconies of heaven and they rolled the stone away.
On the third day, a blinding flash of light, a massive earthquake, and Roman guards fell to the ground, trembling in terror. ((applause)) On the third day, out of the darkness of the barred tomb, walked Jesus Christ, the light of the world, the Lord of glory, the lamb of God, who is now the lion of the tribe of Judah, the fairest of 10,000, the alpha and the omega, the one who was dead and is now alive, the conqueror of death, hell in the grave, the champion from Calvary, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, my God and my Savior, heaven's hope and hell's dread.
He lives. He lives. He lives. ((applause)) >> Do you know that we live in the third day? Prophetically, we're 26 years into it. Prophecy says on the third day, the king is coming. >> Are you ready? >> Are you ready? Are you ready? ((applause)) That was just a sidebar. What does the resurrection mean?
It means that every claim Jesus ever made about himself and his kingdom was absolutely true. It means that there is eternal life to all who believe. The Bible says, "He that believeth in me shall never die. Because I live, you shall live also." It means Jesus Christ was in fact the son of God.
That he was in fact the Lord of glory. He was not some deranged lunatic saying, "If you destroy this temple, I will raise it on the third day." He did it. He rose on the third day. ((applause)) Buddha is still in his grave. Abraham is in his grave. Hello.
H Mohammed is in his grave. The grace of Jesus Christ of Nazareth is empty. ((applause)) >> All hail the power of Jesus name. Let angels prostrate fall. Bring forth the royal diadem and crown him Lord of all. He arose from the dead just like he said. He's coming back just like he said.
He will sit on the throne of his father David in Jerusalem. And he will rule and reign over planet earth for 1,000 years in the in the millennial reign. Just like he said, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
Presidents and prime ministers, royalty, rich and poor, will bow at the feet of Jesus Christ, the son of God. ((applause)) Jesus told his disciples, "Let not your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. In my father's house are many mansions. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, just like he said."
Give the Lord praise in this house today. ((applause)) The resurrection means that Satan is a defeated foe yesterday, today, and forever. >> Saints of God, we have the keys to the kingdom. And the king, the keys represent authority. In Matthew 16:19, Jesus said, "I give to you the keys of the kingdom, and you have the power to do what you need to do because of whatever whatever you pray and say in my name, I will do it."
You have divine authority over Satan's kingdom. You have authority over the powers and principalities in the heavens. You have authority in Jesus' name. You have the authority of God's word. If it's in this book, you can have it and you can do it. You have authority over sickness and disease.
You have authority, saints of God, over the prince of darkness. He cannot control you. He cannot control your family nor your children. Your chains are broken and shattered on the resurrection morning. Our Lord is a chain breaker. He is a way maker. Give him praise in this house.
((applause)) >> ((applause)) >> On the resurrection morning, Satan lost the weapon of fear. This book says, "My peace I give to you, not as the world gives, but such as I have give I it unto you." You now have peace that surpasses understanding. Peace the world cannot give and peace the world cannot take away.
You cannot be tormented not by death. Yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Why? For thou art me. Death is a shadow. The shadow of death. The shadow of a lion cannot hurt you. The shadow of a snake cannot bite you.
The shadow of a sword cannot cut you. Death is a harmless shadow. ((applause)) You cannot be tormented by disease. By his stripes we are healed. Say that with me. By his stripes, we are healed. He is still the great physician. And there's a healer in the house right now.
His name is Jesus Christ, the son of the living God. Give him praise and glory, worthy of his name. ((applause)) On that first Easter morning, the angels asked the troubled followers of Jesus, "Do you remember what he said? Do you remember what he said? Angels told you that he would be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified on the third day and would rise again.
And [clears throat] then the Bible says, "And then they remembered all these things." Get this. For three days they had been weeping, ringing their hands, feeling defeated and disillusioned. If only they could have remembered what he said. Listen, before there is a resurrection, there must be a crucifixion. Before there can be a sunrise, there must be a midnight.
Before there can be a victory, there must be a fight. Before there is a crown, there must be a cross. Before there is a purchase, there must be a cost. Do you remember what he said? In times of stress, we forget the sweet promises of God. How great it would be if we could learn to depend quickly on this guide to a life of peace and prosperity.
How sweet life could be if only we could remember what he said. Do you feel lonely? Do you feel rejected? Do you feel abandoned? Do you remember what he said? I will never leave you nor forsake you to the ends of the world. Is your m if your mother and your father forsakes you, I will pick you up.
Some of you have been abandoned by your mother or your father. Don't die in self-pity. Jesus says, "Come here. I want to take you and I want to carry you close to me. ((applause)) Are you suffering in your health? Do you remember what he said? These signs shall follow them that believe in my name.
They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. >> They shall recover. He is still the healing Jesus and he can heal you. The healer is in the house. Those of you who are watching television right now and those of you who are in this auditorium and you are not well in your body, [clears throat] I want you to I want you to personally confess in your mind and your heart that Jesus Christ is your great physician and by his stripes you have been healed.
And I want you to claim that healing right now in Jesus name. ((applause)) Are your finances failing? Do you remember what he said? All the gold and the silver are mine, sayeth the Lord. And then he says, we are heirs and joint hes. It is the Lord who gives you the power to get wealth.
The Bible says, "Beloved, I wish that you prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers." Do you feel defeated? Do you remember what he said? Greater is he that's within you than he that's in the world. We are more than conquerors through Christ. We are the victors, not victims.
We are the victors because of Calvary. The royal blood of heaven flows through our veins. Let God arise and let his enemies be scattered. You cannot be defeated. You cannot be defeated. ((applause)) Quitting is out of the question. Fight the good fight. Run the race to win it. You are God's champion.
Act like it. ((applause)) ((applause)) Remember what he said. Nothing is impossible to those that believe. Write the vision down and make it plain and then watch God do it. Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. Be of good cheer. Thy sins be forgiven thee. Be of good cheer.
It is I. Be not afraid. I am he who was dead and now I am he who lives. And I have in my hands the keys of death, hell, and the grave. Hallelujah to the lamb of God. ((applause)) The resurrection story is the story of faith over failure. It's the story of how to turn your worst day into your best day.
That's by the thief on the cross. He was one heartbeat from hell and he turned and faced Jesus on the day of his crucifixion and said, "Remember me when you come into your kingdom. Remember me when you come into your kingdom." He closed his eyes and woke up in heaven.
((applause)) ((applause)) We've made salvation way too complicated. The first guy to get to heaven was a dedicated thief with a one-s sentence confession. Think about it. We're going to have that at the end of this service to give some of you a chance to get to heaven. For a hundred years, Good Friday was called Black Friday.
It looked like the worst day in history of Christianity. Jesus Christ, the giver of life, was dying. The healer was being called a heretic. The deliverer was called a demonized deceiver. The great shepherd was involved in a great scandal. The Lord of glory was called a liar and a lunatic by the Roman government.
It was indeed Black Friday. It appeared to be the worst day ever. At 300 p.m. in the afternoon, the black clouds were boiling in fury over the crow cross. The ground shook and dead men walked out of their graves. They were seen by citizens of Jerusalem. Did you know that happened when Jesus came out of the grave?
Other people in Jerusalem came out of their grave. Don't you know it was amazing? Hello, Harry. Didn't we bury you yesterday? Strange things are going on here. The veil of the temple was split from top to bottom. Why? Because God took his hand and he ripped it from top to bottom.
Meaning that you no longer need a priest to go into the house of God and talk to Jesus Christ. You can talk to him face to face by yourself. Hallelujah to the lamb of God. ((applause)) For tongues of lightning slashed the heavens. The son of God who commanded winds and waves.
Who healed the lepers with a single touch, who raised Lazarus from through with three words, Lazarus, arise. The son of God was hanging from a Roman cross, caked in blood, naked, naked in shame, and disgraced. The high priest was mocking him, saying, "If you are the son of God, save yourself."
But he could not save himself and save you or you or you or me. And so he chose to die that we could have eternal life. In agony, Jesus cried, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" His chin fell into his blood soaked chest and he died.
It was Black Friday. A time has proved this black gloomy nightmare to be the brightest day in the history of the church. When we are being tested when we don't know a good day from a bad day. It looked like a bad day when Moses fled to the backside of the wild wilderness with Pharaoh hating him.
It looked like a bad day when Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. But Joseph became the prince of Egypt to save his brother's lives. Do you think they understood what was happening while it was happening? No. Are you facing a crisis? Are you facing what looks like a bad day?
Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. He will lead you by still water and he will lead you in paths of righteousness.
He will lead you to new opportunity that's brighter than anything that you've ever experienced. He will lead you to the answer to the prayers that you have been praying. When you are down to nothing, God is up to something. Something big. Something better than you've ever had. something that rolls the stone away.
((applause)) Resurrection day is when the impossible becomes possible. Resurrection day is when stones that can't be rolled away are rolled away. Seals that can't be broken or broken. Broken relationships that can't be healed are healed. When sick bodies are healed. When hopes have been shattered and healed. When God Almighty transforms your darkest night into your brightest day, give him praise in this house.
((applause)) I say in closing, the case for the resurrection, what changed the disciples from cowards hiding in fear to lions of God? Peter cursed and denied Jesus Christ before an 18-year-old girl. Gutless wonder. Why was he willing to give his life later? Thomas was called. Thomas was calling the New York Times to expose this fraud who claimed to be God.
He was double-minded in all of his ways. He doubted him to the end. James, the brother of Jesus, who did not follow Jesus while he was on the earth, was willing to die, a martyr. Why? Follow those 12 disciples. They were crucified upside down. They were beheaded. They were boiled in oil.
They were exiled. They were fed to lions in the coliseum. Neero wrapped Christians in oily rags and burned them alive. Why were they willing to die? Not for a blood soaked corpse at Calvary. Not for an embalmed rabbi in a borrowed tomb. Not for a liar and a lunatic.
The answer is they went from cowards hiding behind closed doors to lions of God because they had seen the risen Savior. They talked to him. They touched him. They ate with him. They saw him ascend into heaven. Everywhere they went for the next 50 years, they had one message.
He lives. He lives. He lives. He lives. He lives. Hallelujah. Christ rules. ((applause)) ((music playing)) I have great news. He's coming back. >> ((applause)) ((music playing)) ((applause)) >> Every prophecy in this book has been fulfilled. >> Acts one, this same Jesus shall come in like manner as you have seen him leave. ((music playing)) Are you ready? >> That's the question. >> I want you to stand to your feet.
The only people going to heaven are those people who have received Jesus as savior and lord. You can't get to heaven just being a good person because the Bible says all of your righteousness is as filthy rags. But you have to know Jesus Christ. How many of you in this room can say, "Pastor, if Jesus were to come right now, I would not be going because there is sin in my life.
I would like to confess that sin and for the angels of God to write my name in the Lamb's book of life that I might spend eternity in heaven." I know you're a wonderful person, but you've just never surrendered your life to Jesus. If you're in this room and you haven't accepted the Lord Jesus, would you slip your hand up and say, "I'd like for you to pray for me while we pray this morning that I will be saved and go to heaven."
Raise your hand right now. Raise your hand right now. Thank you. Thank you. Raise your hand here. God bless you in the balcony. God bless you. God bless you. I know in that crowd up there, there's someone who desperately needs to know the Lord. Jesus will make the difference in your life.
You're watching by television. Jesus will make the difference in your life. Pray this prayer with me. From that simple statement, you've now become a citizen of heaven. Give the Lord a shout of praise in the house of God. This morning, we're going to receive our holy communion ushers. I'd ask that you'd begin to wait upon the congregation. Church, sing in worship. Let the weak say, I am strong.
Let the poor [singing and music] say I am rich. Let the [singing] blind say I can see is ((music playing)) what the Lord has done in me. Sing that again. Let the weak say. ((music playing)) Let the weak say I am strong. ((music playing)) Let the poor [singing] say I am rich. ((music playing)) Let the blind [singing] say I can see is ((music playing)) what the Lord has done in me.
Declare this. Hosana. [singing] Hosana ((music playing)) to the lamb [singing] that was slain. Hosana. ((music playing)) Hosana. [singing] Jesus died. And ((music playing)) sing that again. Hosana. Hosana. [singing] Hosana to the [singing] lamb that was slain. ((music playing)) Hosana. Hosana. [singing] >> ((music playing)) >> Jesus died and rose again. Into the river I will wait. There my sins [singing] are ((music playing)) washed away from the heavens mercy stream of the Savior's [singing and music] love for me.
And I will rise from waters deep into [singing and music] the saving arms of God. I will sing salvation [music and singing] song. Jesus Christ has set ((music playing)) me free. [singing] Hosana. Hosana ((music playing)) [singing] to the lamb that was slain. Hosana. [music and singing] Hosana. Jesus died and rose again. Hosana. ((music playing)) Hosana to the lamb [music and singing] that was slain. Hosana. Hosana. [singing] Jesus died ((music playing)) and [singing] rose of care.
This morning we receive the symbol of the Lord's broken body and his shed blood. Not just to remember our redemption, but to remember the victory that he won for us at Calvary. When he rose, he said, "I have the keys to death, hell, and the grave." Which means that we don't have to fight for what he has already accomplished.
We simply get to stand in what he has done. So this morning, we read from Matthew's gospel. It says, "And as they were eating, Jesus took the bread and he blessed it and he broke it and he gave it to the disciples and he said, take and eat, for this is my body."
Can we take the symbol of the Lord's broken body? And then he took the cup and he gave thanks for it and he gave it to them saying, "Drink from it all of you." Can we take the symbol of the Lord's shed blood? He said, "For this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
But I say to you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine from now until that day when I drink it new with you in my father's kingdom. ((music playing)) And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Church, I want us to sing that declaration that Jesus died and rose again in a victory celebration as we leave this place today.
Sing with me. into [singing] the river I will wait for there my sins [singing and music] are washed away from the [singing and music] heavens mercy stream of the Savior's [music and singing] love for me declare this with me and I will rise from ((music playing)) waters deep into the sea Saving arms of God. I will ((music playing)) sing salvation song.
Jesus Christ [singing] has set me free. ((music playing)) Hosana. Hosana to the lamb that was slain. ((music playing)) Hosana. [singing] Hosana. Jesus ((music playing)) died and rose again. [singing] Hosana. Hosana ((music playing)) to the lamb that was slain. Hosana. ((music playing)) [singing] Hosana. Jesus died and [singing] rose again. ((music playing)) Give the Lord a handful of praise in this house. ((music playing)) Lift your hand for the blessing.
And now may the Lord bless you. And may the Lord keep you. And may the Lord make his face to shine upon you. And may the Lord be gracious unto you and give you peace. May you leave this assembly knowing that you are a child of God. That your past has been cleansed by the crimson stream.
And that if the Lord Jesus should appear in the clouds of heaven today, we will be raptured together for a life of glory and praise. Live with that dream because it will become reality soon in Jesus name. receive this blessing. ((music playing)) Amen. Amen. This is Resurrection Sunday. This is Cornerstone Church Heggy Ministries. Thank you for joining us. We'll see you next Lord's Day. Blessings. You're watching Heaggy Ministries. Don't go away. Here's more ((music playing)) teaching from the word of God. Here in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ was kneeling and praying. His disciples were sleeping.
And suddenly, a mob from the high priest's home comes to arrest him. Soldiers, temple guards, angry men, and one of Jesus very own friends. Judas approaches him and the Bible tells us very closely in Luke 22 and48. Judas, are you betraying the son of man with a kiss?
This was the question that Jesus asked. In this question, you can hear the grace that God gives to those who are about to do wrong. He knew why Judas was there. He knew what Judas was about to do. But even in asking the question, he was wanting to make sure that Judas was going through with it and he needed to know he had a chance to back out.
Another disciple awakes and he's very angry at what he sees. Peter pulls a sword and he strikes one of the temple guards. Jesus in grace and mercy picks up the wounded man's ear and restores him. Just a few hours later, Peter is outside the house of Caiaphas, the high priest, back up on the hill behind me in the city of Jerusalem.
There's a mock trial ((music playing)) that's going on. There's false accusations being extended. In this hour, Jesus needs Peter as a friend more than any hour in the three years that they've spent together. And yet, Peter does exactly what Judas did just a few moments ago. Judas denied him with a kiss.
Peter denied him with his words, not once, not twice, but three times. And then we hear the rooster ((music playing)) crow. You know, often times I think it's funny how two human beings will judge one another, how someone like Peter will judge a Judas or how a Judas will judge a Peter.
But Christ extends grace to both. Christ extends grace to all. to Judas. He extended a question just before he crossed the line. Whenever he rose just a few days later, Jesus tells his disciples, "Go tell my disciples and Peter." He wanted Peter to know that there was enough grace in his heart to be forgiven.
I want you to know no matter when you ((music playing)) encounter Christ, no matter the moment that you come to the knowledge of who he is, no matter what you've done, there's grace that he can extend to you ((music playing)) today. The empty tomb is the miracle of the resurrection. The power ((music playing)) of God was not fulfilled in all of the wonders that we saw Christ perform in his earthly ((music playing)) ministry.
His promise of our salvation was not kept on the cross. Actually, that promise ((music playing)) is found in an empty grave where Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death, defeating hell, ((music playing)) and defeating the grave. The miracle of the resurrection and the power of the Holy Spirit is what ((music playing)) is the promise of our salvation.
As a matter of fact, in Luke 24:es 6-8, ((music playing)) we read these words. It says, "He is not here, but he is risen." Remember how he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee, ((music playing)) saying, "The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified ((music playing)) and the third day rise again."
And they remembered his words. I want you to consider that for just a moment. They remembered his words. Often times ((music playing)) you and I forget the words of Jesus. It's not uncommon. Mary and Mary Magdalene did. If they had remembered his words, they would not have come ((music playing)) to the tomb early that morning where he had been buried on Friday night so that they could preserve his body with spices.
But when they arrived at the tomb, they found it empty. The stone that the Roman soldiers had placed in front to keep the body from being stolen ((music playing)) had been rolled away. And Jesus, who they wrapped in linen and covered in frankincense and other ((music playing)) spices, was no longer in the tomb.
There they found two men, and the Bible says they were in dazzling robes and garments standing next to the tomb. These men were angels. And they told the women that Jesus was not there, that he had risen just as he said he would. The women then returned and told the disciples that Jesus' body was gone.
Peter couldn't believe it. He ran when he heard the news to the tomb for himself. And he found what they saw. Jesus wasn't there. And he confirmed ((music playing)) the words of the women. And then they all remembered his words. It's in that moment that the Holy Spirit began to flood their minds with the memories of the conversations and the teachings and the things that they had heard when they walked with Jesus as his followers and disciples.
The disciples remembered his words and were encouraged. What has the Lord spoken to you? Take a ((music playing)) moment and consider the promises that you've read in his word. Consider the things that spiritual leaders, pastors, and others have prophesied to you. What dreams and visions has God planted in your heart through that still small voice of the Holy Spirit?
Think of every time that you have spoken his promises ((music playing)) in your life, believing that you would receive them in the future and rejoice in the fact that we have a God who is able to do exactly what he said he would do. Take hope and rest in the knowledge that you are not responsible to make the promise ((music playing)) come to pass.
Remember what he said. It's only our responsibility to trust and obey, to believe with all of our heart and lean not to our own understanding. Just like the women had forgotten that Jesus said he would rise on the third day. They came to the tomb. Had they remembered, they would have stayed in Jerusalem and just simply waited for him to appear.
It's easy for us to get busy in the responsibility of our lives, believing that that will bring the hastening ((music playing)) of God's promise. But I assure you, allow the Holy Spirit to bring back to your remembrance ((music playing)) what he has said. And in his promises, you'll find his provision. In his provision, you'll find that he's a God of more.
As the Holy Spirit brings his words and his promises back to your remembrance, embrace them. believe them. Allow his Holy Spirit to do for you what these angels did when they saw Mary and Mary Magdalene outside of this tomb. They said, "He is not here. Why do you look for the living among the dead?"
Do you remember what he said? He is risen. You know, I consider this fact. They were looking for the right thing in the wrong place. Maybe you're like that. You've looked for God's provision in man's promises. You've looked for a breakthrough from something in the natural earth. The reality of it is when you look for the right thing in the wrong place, you're never going to be satisfied.
But when you look for a supernatural breakthrough from a supernatural promise from a supernatural God, I assure you, you are going to find that you have more than enough. As a matter of fact, ((music playing)) it's more than you could ask, think, or imagine. Don't look for what you need in the wrong place.
Look for what you need in God's provision, in his promises. Trust in him to make his word come alive ((music playing)) in his perfect time that he will perfect his promise in your life ((music playing)) today. Picture that first Easter morning so long ago. The disciples are just hearing the news from Mary Magdalene that Jesus is not in the tomb, that he is risen.
Can you imagine all that would have been going through their minds? We get a glimpse of it in John the 20th chapter beginning in verse three. Peter therefore went out and the other disciple and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.
And he stooping down and looking in saw the linen clothes lying there. Yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came following him and went ((music playing)) into the tomb and he saw the linen clothes lying there. Verse seven says, "And the handkerchief that had been around his head was not lying with the linen clothes, but folded together in a place by itself."
So there you see two disciples just a few moments ago doubting that they had indeed walked with the King of Kings, yet daring to put a little bit of hope in the testimony of Mary Magdalene. Peter and John raced from the place that they were hiding for their lives to the tomb where they had just a few days ago placed Jesus' body.
John beats Peter to the tomb and when he gets there, he walks in and notices that the body is gone. But he does not go to investigate any further. By the time Peter arrives, he looks and sees two sets of garments. one the linen garments that they had wrapped Jesus's body in and intombed him and the other is the folded cloth left behind by Jesus.
This is not just something that the Bible records and is details for us to consider. This folded cloth was left there behind by Jesus and it gives us not only a glimpse into Jewish culture, but it bears great significance. This handkerchief was called a talit. It was actually a prayer shaw that was given to every Jewish boy who had gone past his 13th birthday.
In Judaism, if someone was done with a napkin, they would simply cast it aside, not take the time to fold it. But if they folded it, it was a symbol that they planned to return and finish what they were doing. Jesus just didn't leave ((music playing)) his talit lying in the tomb.
He carefully folded it. Now, if someone had snuck in and stolen the body of Jesus, why would they take the time to fold the talit? When Peter saw this folded talit sitting over in the corner, separate from the grave clothes, it was a very clear message. One, that someone had been in here and that someone was alive.
Two, the person who was in here was Jewish. The only individual who that could have been was Jesus Christ. The folded talit was his message ((music playing)) to them personally. I'm coming back. The talit says it all. The talit reminds us that Jesus is indeed going to return. That's the culmination of our hope.
That's what we look forward to. It is the prophecy that echoes from Genesis all the way to Revelation. Jesus Christ, our savior, is coming back as Messiah. Everything Jesus did and continues to do has purpose. Just as he took time to carefully fold the talit to give attention and detail to the disciples, Jesus is concerned about every detail of your life and he wants to move in your heart in a significant way.
Be encouraged and look at your situation and your life with fresh eyes, with eyes that take notice of every detail, knowing that the God who created heaven and earth is watching over every facet of your being. Don't overlook what God is doing today. Know that each and every day his mercies are renewed and that he has a plan for you.
That's what we read in Jeremiah 2011 29:11. The Bible says that God has a plan for you, a plan to prosper you, not to harm you, and to give you a hope and a future. Your life is not an accident. Nothing happens by coincidence. You are a child of the most high God, and he has a unique purpose for your life and he will fulfill his word.
If you feel lost or abandoned, if you feel as though you have no hope, just know that Jesus wants to return to your life and breathe fresh hope to your dreams if you'll put your faith in a resurrected savior.
