Transcript
This program is brought to you in part by the partners and friends of Creflo Dollar Ministries. Coming up next on Changing Your World. The old covenant temple and the sacrificial system were shadows pointing to Jesus >> ((music playing)) >> who is the ultimate high priest and the perfect sacrifice. >> ((music playing)) >> So, Jesus was both both high priest and sacrifice.
But in Old Testament, you had the high priest and he had to get a sacrifice. But the best, the real is Jesus who is the high priest and the sacrifice. It's so great to have Dr. Dollar here. The Spirit & Grace Tour and the Grace Gang in town. >> Just about everybody that gave their testimonial, asking questions and getting answers.
I was getting some of the answers I needed. It was like an atmosphere ((music playing)) of freedom. I would encourage people to come. The Spirit & Grace Tour with Creflo Dollar is coming to a city near you. Only 500 seats and ((music playing)) they are going fast. Register now at spiritandgracetour.com. This is your world.
So, let's vow to [singing] make ((music playing)) it a better place. Let every heart that meets us know your love is here to stay. It's time we live a new life. Let us love shine bright in you. We sleep by his grace, so we embrace your love today. We are changed.
If you were to get born again today and ask me, "What's the first thing I do?" I'll respond, "Get to know Jesus." But you know how we responded. And it's not wrong. It's not wrong. Get in the word, read the word. That's not wrong. But keep keep first things keep the main thing the main thing.
I'm getting in the word that'll help me to get to know Jesus. I'm meditating in the word, help me to get to know Jesus. I'm confessing the word, help me to get to know Jesus. The primary point here is after my study does it enhance my relationship? Sometimes you'll read something about Jesus and then you'll go and you'll cry the whole time in prayer because you didn't realize that he loved and cared for you that much.
And the message of grace, you know what grace is saying? That uh here's a here's here's a God who loves you so much he went ahead and and and and glory to God was a substitution for what you couldn't get done. And he'll never leave you nor forsake you.
And then you talk to God about that. I said, "Lord, I read that that you said you'd never leave me or or forsake me." I said, "But I felt like I felt like you left me and and and and forsaked me in that last time." He said, "Son, did you make it out?"
Uh yeah, uh I was the one carrying you out. Never going to leave you. >> ((applause)) >> Do you know what happens when you have that kind of relationship with the Holy Spirit? You start growing. The Holy Spirit will tell you truth about yourself that nobody hardly can tell you the truth about yourself.
Holy Spirit tell you truth about yourself. Holy Spirit Holy Spirit is talk talking to me about me. He says, "You talk too much about you." Exalt the interest of somebody else over your own interest. Oh. So, what you going to do? Get offended at God cuz he told you the truth that you already knew?
He's there to help you to try transform into his image. He's there to help you to change into his image. He's not there to insult you. But if you want to know him then we going to have to get in here and allow him to speak to you just like you've been speaking to him.
Some of you talk to God and don't even give him AN OPPORTUNITY TO RESPOND. In Jesus' name, amen. Ooh, praise the Lord. I I wrecked hell up this morning. Praise the Lord. Thank you, Jesus. God sent up the habala habala habala habala. Are you listening to me, guys?
Are you listening to what I'm saying here? All right. So, let's look at these shadows. Let's examine this issue of the Passover lamb. In the Old Covenant, the Passover lamb's blood, the blood of the Passover lamb in the Old Covenant it was it was used to protect Israel.
Passover, you remember when the death angel went over Israel, that deal that was going on between Moses and Pharaoh. And instructions came from God to Moses to tell them to put the blood of the lamb over their door doorpost. And when that death angel come over, if he sees the blood of the lamb, he'll pass over your house.
Okay? So, what happens here is that the Passover lamb's blood protected the Israelites. So, that's a shadow of what? Well, in the New Covenant, Jesus is seen as the ultimate Passover lamb whose blood brings salvation. Let me show you to both of them. Exodus chapter 12 and 5, so you'll know it's there and I'm not making it this up.
Exodus 12:5 in the ESV uh version of the Bible when you begin to notice that these things are in scripture and and that these things have been listed for us and that these things are there. That's why I show it to you but so you'll say, "Oh my God, it's there.
There it is right there." He says, "Your lamb shall be without blemish." A male a year old, you may take it from the sheep and you'll take it from the goats. And uh when you begin to to look at that the lamb that was without blemish what does that represent?
Jesus, right? So, they take the lamb without blem blemish and they use his blood and the death angel would pass over. But then in 1 Peter chapter 1 uh you can do you can do King James or ESV, whichever is the quickest pull up. 1 Peter chapter 1 and verse 19 he now shows the reality.
The Passover blood over the That was a shadow of something to come. That was a sketch of the real artwork that's to show up. He said, "But with the precious blood of Christ like that of a lamb without blemish or spot." So, identifies the real. So, now when you're talking about the the the the the the Passover lamb of God please don't try to make it when you're interpreting scripture, don't read into it.
Please don't try to make it more than what it is. It's a shadow of Jesus. What does that have TO DO WITH YOU? OH, JESUS IS NOW my permanent Passover lamb. His blood has brought salvation just like the lamb of those that lamb brought salvation from from the death angel.
And the whole reason was here's the shadow. Ooh, look at the real. And the real is Jesus. The real is Jesus all day long. It's Jesus Jesus Jesus. If you don't do that, you're going to start seeing the Bible from your eyes as a contradiction. And you'll go tell somebody, "The Bible just contradicts itself.
You One day over here say this, over there say that. How you going How you going to trust something that say It ain't contradicting it. You haven't been privileged to hear a lot the different seasons and how they change and what was true under the law may not be true under the uh New Testament.
Under the law, the Sabbath was a day. But under the New Testament, Jesus was the Sabbath. You see what I'm saying? If you read both of those scriptures, you'll walk away Well, wait a minute. This is contradicting itself. Over here it's a day, over here it's that because you haven't understand that.
That's a shadow. This is the real and the real is the reason why that's a shadow. You you you you you're on the bus but the bus leaving. It's pulling off. It's it's leaving. All right, it's pulling off. All right, now let's look at this next one. The temple and the sacrifices.
What that got to do with anything? So, now when you go back and read the Old Covenant for your learning and you bump into the temple and the sacrifices, you're like, "Ooh." It shows you some more of Jesus. It shows you some more of Jesus. You might get some little extra detail that shows you more of Jesus.
Now, the temple and the sacrifices, the Old Covenant temple and the sacrificial system were shadows pointing to Jesus who is the ultimate high priest and the perfect sacrifice. So, Jesus was both both high priest and sacrifice. But in Old Testament, you had the high priest and he had to get a sacrifice.
But the best, the real is Jesus who is the high priest and the sacrifice. So, let's talk about sacrifices a little bit. In the Old Testament, animal sacrifices were made to atone for sins. Leviticus 16 and 30. Go there in King James and write these down. I I'm not trying to take up time.
I'm just, you know, I I I I I I talk and the the time I don't show it in the Bible, then there's some guy that comes up and say, "That ain't right." Yeah, cuz you didn't read it. So, let me let me take my time and do this.
And if you're bored, then ask God to help you and sit yourself down and listen to that bored stuff cuz it's the bored stuff that's going to take you to that that that that that that good stuff. Sometimes you just got to be bored in order to know what to do when something crazy happen.
So, be bored for about 2 minutes. Humor me. Leviticus 16:30, "For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you to cleanse you that you may be clean from all your sins before the Lord." And that only lasted a year. That only lasted for 1 year.
And so, in the new covenant, Jesus' sacrifice on the cross is the ultimate and the final sacrifice for sin. And through his blood, we we receive forgiveness and reconciliation with God. So, these connections highlight how the old covenant symbol find their ultimate reality in Jesus in the new covenant.
So, look at Hebrews chapter 10, verse 10 through 12. So, Jesus is the final sacrifice. There doesn't need to be any more animal sacrifice once Jesus is sacrificed on the altar. So, this is so awesome. In the old covenant, you have to have you have you had to have a high priest that was uh spotless to be able to present the uh the sacrifices.
Jesus was was the He He He He was the high priest, greater than Melchizedek, and he was the sacrifice, all in one package. So, it took all of that to be a shadow of Jesus who was going to come. So, here's how it is now in Hebrews 10.
And I got to show you something here. Hebrews 10 >> [clears throat] >> By the which will, we are sanctified. Okay, we're sanctified. Separated and set aside through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ. He offered his body. Now, watch this. His body was the final sacrifice. He offered his body once for all.
You certainly don't expect Jesus to keep offering his body every time you mess up. He said, "I'm going to offer it one time. Embrace it by faith when you need it." Okay? Keep going, verse 11. "And every priest in the Old Testament standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices which can never take away sin."
So, in the Old Testament, those offerings those sacrifice could never take away sin. They had to end up being in the same place the next year. Watch this. "But, this man Jesus, after he had offered how many? One sacrifice. And what was that sacrifice? No, no. What was the sacrifice that was offered?
Himself. His body, right? Please understand. All of our sins were were placed on the body of Jesus. All of That's awesome. All of our sins past, all of our sins present, all of our sins future were placed on the body of Jesus. I don't know if I understand that.
I don't believe that. Listen, before you were born, Jesus was taking care of your sin before you showed up as a fetus. He already took care of it. We got this thing that Jesus is presently lying. Oh, lie. He forgive me. Like he presently forgiving you. No, he Excuse my English.
He done already forgave you. You got to receive that. You're You're You're putting sand on your hair. You're You're You're You're doing all this stuff. You're You're You're You're You're running around with your your your your your your tank top on. I started to say wife beater, but I got that from I got that from Jeremy.
That's a terrible way to describe that t-shirt. But, this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sin forever sat down on the right hand for God. No priest No priest There was no chair behind the curtain. No priest ever sat down. OH, BUT WHEN JESUS sacrificed himself YOU CAN SIT DOWN.
BECAUSE WE DON'T NEED NO MORE SACRIFICES. BECAUSE JESUS WAS THE FINAL SACRIFICE FOR YOUR SINS. YOUR SINS HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. THAT'S WHY HE SAID in I think it's Hebrews chapter 9:38 somewhere around 28 or 38. It's Hebrews 9:28 in the NLT. Put put There you go.
Y'all good here. So, you you put it on the screen. I want everybody to see this. Look at Look what he say here. Here You're on the screen? Put it on the screen. I thought you were going to put the big one on the screen. I don't They don't need to see me.
Put the big one. Okay. So, Christ was once offered to do what? Bear the sins of many. "And unto them that look for him shall he appear THE SECOND TIME WITHOUT SIN unto salvation." ALL RIGHT. WHY IS HE NOT GOING TO BE DEALING WITH SIN WHEN he comes the second time?
Cuz I already dealt with it. Now, now hold on a minute. Theologians going to be very upset about this. But, we we are thinking that the second time is when Jesus show up in a in a minute. But, the second time, see he died and took care of our sins.
And when he was resurrected Okay, the first time Jesus showed up was where? The first time he appeared was when? In a manger. Lived got crucified got How do you say it? Got killed. Died on the cross. Then he rose and appeared the So, WHEN THE PRICE WAS PAID WHEN HE DIED ON THE CROSS AND WE AROSE THE SECOND TIME HE HE HAS DEALT WITH SIN.
AND SO HE APPEARED THE SECOND TIME without sin unto salvation. And And I KNOW WE SAY THE SECOND COMING, BUT THAT'S THE This is the second coming right there. HE IS GOING TO APPEAR AGAIN, BUT THE SIN WAS TAKEN care of in the second coming. IN FACT, HE HAD A FEW MORE APPEARANCES.
He appeared at a door, the door being shut, and he walked through the door. The door being shut cuz he was in his glorified body, and he walked through the door giving us a little TASTE OF WHAT OUR BODY GOING TO BE LIKE WHERE IT WON'T BE ABLE TO BE HELD BACK BY ANY PHYSICAL THING.
HE WALKED THROUGH THE DOOR, THE DOOR BEING SHUT. LISTEN WHAT HE DID. THEN HE SAT DOWN ON A PHYSICAL SOMETHING AND ATE SOME FISH AND HONEYCOMB. DON'T TELL ME THEY'RE NOT GOING TO DON'T TELL ME THAT. DON'T TELL ME THEY'RE NOT GOING TO HAVE DON'T TELL ME THEY'RE NOT GOING TO HAVE NO OATMEAL cookies up in here in heaven somewhere.
Boy, don't tell me that. Some oatmeal cookies with raisins and walnuts and and cinnamon and cran- cranberry. Don't you tell me they're not going to have that up there. Wow. Now. So, the the sin's been taken care of, and we're so sin conscious cuz we don't believe he took care of it.
He will appear the second time. He already has. He appeared when he was raised from from the dead. And all of the sin was placed on his body. That's when that happened. Because a lot of people that they don't realize that, they still waiting on him to come back and take care of what he done already took care of.
You think he going to take care of it when he appear in the sky. Let me tell you something. If that's not taken care of before he appear in the sky, you ain't going to appear in the sky. Cuz you got to be holy to see the Lord.
What that mean? He made you holy. I'm holy cuz I I He done made you. He done I'm holy cuz he holy. Hallelujah. Uh Holiness is not your conduct. Holiness is your position in him who is holy. I I I dare you to say it. Some of y'all going to tremble.
Say it out loud. I'm holy now. Oh. Oh. How do How do it feel? Say it again. I'm holy now. Say it. I'm righteous now. Say it. Say it. I'm forgiven now. Say it. Say it. I'M DELIVERED NOW. YOU MIGHT BE IN SOME KIND OF FORM OF ADDICTION.
BUT, BUT BUT THE THING IS, HOW CAN WE WAKE YOU UP TO YOUR DELIVERANCE? THE BIBLE SAYS, "AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SIN NO MORE." >> ((applause)) >> TURN TO YOUR NEIGHBOR AND SAY, "WAKE UP." >> ((cheering)) >> THEY THEY LOOK AT IT. THEY THINK THEY THINK YOU TALKING ABOUT THEM.
NO, you ain't ain't talking about them. Awake to what has already been done. All right. Now, let me show you something. Go to Hebrews chapter 10, verse 26. Let me show you something that's been thrown at us. And they say this in the New Testament, it is. But now I have rightly divided the word for you.
Uh put it in the uh King James. People are familiar with this. All right, now. I check this out now. You ready? So you you've gotten the shadow, you've gotten all of that. And you going you going you going to see what I'm saying here. I can't You ain't going to believe you you believe what we told you about this.
I I was so confused about this, I would never talk about it. I just skipped it. I went from verse 25 to verse 27. For if we sin willfully. All right, so the first thing you got to ask yourself is what is willful sin? All right, watch this.
All sin is willful. You think when you sin you going to hop up to my I just made a mistake? Godly, I I I made a mistake and hopped in the bed and had sex with the wrong woman. I thought I was at home. I made a mistake.
So I didn't do it willfully. It wasn't willful. I It wasn't a willful thing. I cussed that lady out, I slipped up. It wasn't willful. It was a devil in me that made me do it. It's all willful. For if we sin willfully, and now watch this. After that we have received the knowledge of the truth.
Now keep it in context. Go up to what we just read, 10, 11, and 12. And the truth is Jesus is the final sacrifice. You don't need no more animal sacrifices. After you receive the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more So he's talking about sacrifices. There remaineth no more sacrifices for sin.
So what is he talking about? He said if you sin willfully AFTER WE HAVE ALREADY TOLD YOU AND WE HAVE RECEIVED the knowledge of the truth that we don't need no more animal sacrifices, NO MORE LAMBS ARE NEEDED because Jesus is the final sacrifice. He's saying now if you choose to not believe that, then there REMAINETH NO MORE SACRIFICES FOR YOUR SIN because Jesus is the one and ONLY SACRIFICE.
RECEIVE HIM as your only sacrifice or you you ain't get you ain't got no way out. So the issue here, if we sin willful, what is the willful sin? Unbelief. You don't believe that Jesus is the final sacrifice. And that unbelief is the only thing that wasn't taken care on the cross because ((music playing)) you're free moral agent.
