What Every Woman Wants in a Man

((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> A story is told about a woman who was on a cruise ship. And she walked up to a man and said, "You look like my third husband." And he said, "How many times have you been married?" She said, "Twice." Fact, women universally feel that men lack sensitivity in matters concerning women.

One husband writes, "My best advice for women is this. If we men say something and there two possible interpretations, the one that makes you feel good and the one that makes you feel angry, we mean the other one." >> [sighs and gasps] >> 1 Peter 3 and 7 says, "Husbands, dwell with your wives with understanding that your prayers may not be hindered."

This verse very clearly means God intends for husbands and wives to pray together because together they have a supernatural power that they do not have by themselves. I'm going to punch that today until you really get it. The Bible is very clear about the power of two. Matthew 18:19 says, "Again, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, hear that word?

Anything that they ask, it may be done for them by my Father in heaven. This is an awesome verse. When you get married, God sees both of you or he sees neither of you. If you're not praying together as husband and wife, start. Seven things women want in a man in every age group.

One, women want a man to love them completely, passionately, and romantically. And [clears throat] all the ladies said, Ah. >> [sighs] [gasps] >> The Bible commands, listen husbands, "Husbands, love your wives as Jesus loved the church and gave himself for it." Love your wife passionately and be willing to die for her because Jesus loved the church, which was his bride, so much he gave his life at Calvary that you could have everlasting life.

We sing that song, "Oh love of God, how rich, how pure, how measureless, how strong. It shall forevermore endure the saints and angels' song." The love of God is precious. It's pure. It's eternal. It's given to every person who asks for it. Don't you ever say, "No one loves me."

God loved you enough to send his son to THE CROSS TO REDEEM YOU. Give the Lord praise in the house. >> ((applause)) >> Women are weary of men who show little affection until they want sex. Women are tired of spiritually weak, milk-toast husbands who refuse to lead the family spiritually.

They want a husband who will work and provide for the family financially. They want one who protects them emotionally and they want one to lead them spiritually. Ephesians 6 and 4 has a very powerful verse. It says, "And you fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but train them in the fear and the admonition of the Lord."

That Greek word train is gymnot. It's a Greek word from which we get gym, gymnasium. And the gymnasium is where the coach shows the shows the student athlete how to shoot the basketball over and over and over until he becomes or she becomes a proficient player. It's not something that's done once, it's something that's done continuously week after week, month after month, year after year.

You never get past this. God is saying, "I want you as the father, not the girl not the not the mother, not the boy scout director, not someone else, but you, father, train your children. Show them how to pray by praying with them. Show them how to read the word of God by reading it with them.

Show them how to get to church by taking them church and not sending them to church with their mother. Grow up and be who you are, the father of the house." >> ((applause)) >> So, I spin that around and ask, "Father, do you pray with your children? Do you read the Bible with your children?

Do you go to church with your children? If you're not doing that, you are not a father." >> ((applause)) >> I just heard television's being clicked off. Women are tired of powder-puff husbands who demonstrate all the robust leadership of a parked car. You cannot follow a parked car. Women do not want a playboy husband.

Playboy husbands will get AIDS sooner or later. Some men say, "I practice safe sex." What a joke. Sex outside of marriage is absolutely forbidden in the Bible. The price is the lake of fire and eternal hell. >> ((applause)) >> God does not need the Epstein file to check up on you.

My advice for women married to playboy husband is this. If your husband has refused to change his adulterous ways for your safety and the safety of your children, terminate the marriage. You have Bible permission to terminate a marriage for sexual immorality in Matthew 31:32. Say, "Hit the road, Jack, and don't come back." >> ((applause)) >> One in four housewives are the objects of physical abuse from their husbands.

This is a historical report. One in three teenage girls is sexually molested by some male member of their family. Think about that. One in three. Listen to me. As the pastor of this church, if I hear that you are abusing your wife or having sex with your children, I will do everything in my power to put you in jail. >> ((applause)) >> And I can get that done.

I've encouraged every wife who is abused personally or has knowledge that your children are being abused to call the church immediately and we will go to war with you for the salvation of your children and your sanity. >> ((applause)) >> Secondly, women want non-sexual affection. When a wife says, "Come hold me" to her husband, he rubs his hands together and his testosterone meter runs off the chart.

In counseling sessions with couples over 50, I've asked them asked the question to the couple, "How would you feel if you knew you would never have sex again with your mate?" Almost all women responded, "It's really no big deal if I never had sex again with my husband.

It would be a big deal if he never kissed me or held me or hugged me or touched me or romanced me." That's what you call non-sexual affection. That's probably a word some of you men want to write down in your new vocabulary. Non-sexual affection. Ask men that question, "What if you could never have sex again with your wife?"

And their eyes bulge, their nostrils flare, their sweat begins to drop off of their forehead. It's the end of the world. Oh. That guy would be dead by Friday. >> [laughter] >> Three, women want a man who can truly understand that women are divinely different and they're not going to change.

God created men and women differently and sooner you accept that fact, the happier you're going to be. Women want open communication. Gentlemen, if you don't know how to listen, then you don't know how to communicate. Listening takes effort. It takes concentration. It takes patience. It takes compassion. Here are seven ways to find time to talk to your wife in a meaningful communication.

One, set aside a 15-minute period when both of you get home from work. Turn off the television. Put down the newspaper. Take Take the fellow telephone off the hook. Throw your cell phone in the commode. Put the dog and the cat outside on the back porch. Now, you're ready to have a conversation.

Talk. Make a monthly date night on your schedule that cannot be broken. That's number three. Number four, get together once a week for lunch even if you have to brown bag it. Five, attend your children's sports games or other performances that they might be in. You'll be amazed at how much talking you can do during nine innings of a slow baseball game.

It's a good time to talk and you need the exercise. Seven, plan a weekend getaway once in a while just the two of you. Take the Song of Solomon with you and read it and then do it. Faith without works is dead. >> ((applause)) >> Back to the main concept.

Women want emotional intimacy. Emotional intimacy includes touching, hugging, kissing, holding hands. Listen, there are This is a medical fact. There are approximately 5 million touch receptors in the human body. 5 million. There are more than 2 million receptors in the hands alone. The medical science has stated the right hand of touch releases a pleasing and healing flow of power in the body of both the toucher and the touched.

That's not in the Bible. That's in medical science. >> [laughter] >> Who have you touched lately? Listen to me, man. Without the emotional intimacy of touch, without warm personal communication, sex with your wife is little more than domestic rape. Six, women want spiritual intimacy. Women want a spiritual leader who will pray with them on a regular basis.

Again, the Bible teaches the power of two. When any two of you agree on anything, you can ask the Father and it will be done. This is not the President of the United States asking you. This is God Almighty saying, "When two of you get together and pray for it, I will do it." >> ((applause)) >> A husband and wife praying together for their future, for their children, for their business, for the crisis they face with the awesome power of God to back it up.

WOW, IT'S FUN BEING A CHRISTIAN. Do you know how hard it is to pray for someone when you're mad at that person? >> [laughter] >> It's impossible. Do you know how I know that? Mhm, right on to the next thing. Try it, you'll like it. You and your wife have awesome power in prayer.

Husband, you should be the leader. She shouldn't have to chase you down to have the prayer session. You should You should initiate that. That's not my opinion. That's God's opinion. >> ((applause)) >> Seven, women want mutual submission. The doctrine of submission has been used in the church to pound women into subjection.

This is wrong. The doctrine of submission in the Bible is mutual submission. Listen closely. Ephesians 5:21, Paul writes, quote, "Submitting to one another in the fear of God." That's Ephesians 5:21 for those of you who are breathing deeply right now. Submitting one to the other in the fear of God.

Say that with me. Submitting to one another in the fear of God. The husband does not submit to the wife's lead, but he does submit to the wife's need. Write that down, dear one. >> ((applause)) >> Put it on your family bulletin board. If she needs you to help her clean the house or do the laundry, do it. >> ((applause)) >> If she needs for you to help wash the dishes, to help the children, or cook supper, do it. >> ((applause)) >> Communicate with her.

Understand her differences without trying to change her. Give her emotional and spiritual intimacy. Reverence her. Honor her. Provide for her. Love her as your own flesh because you are one flesh and God sees both of you or he sees neither of you. Think about that. >> ((applause)) >> Let me give you a scary thought.

The Bible says God knows your thoughts before you think them. That's a scary Bible verse for me. God knows your thoughts before you think them. Continue. Two lies the church tell about women. And we're coming to a conclusion here. Two lies the church tell about women today. Lie number one is that women are not equipped to assume leadership in the church.

Church history has been hostile to women. Listen to the leaders of the past. John Knox said, quote, "Women in her greatest perfection was made to serve and obey men." End of quote. Wrong. Saint Augustine, a Catholic, said, "I fail to see what use women can be to a man if one excludes the function of bearing children."

End of quote. Billy Sunday said concerning women leading in the church, quote, "It produces a plastic, spineless, effeminate, and sissified Christianity." Wrong. Did Jesus believe women could lead? In the ministry of Jesus, women were the last to leave the cross and they the first to arrive at the tomb on the resurrection morning.

Where were the men? They were hiding. They were terrified of the Roman government. Luke chapter 8, verses 1 and 3, states that the 12 were with him and some women. There was always a group of women who ministered to the needs of Jesus during his ministry. Fact, did the Holy Spirit exclude women when the Holy Spirit fell in the upper room?

Many of the women who followed Christ, including the mother of Christ, were there to receive the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:17 says, "Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy." The Holy Spirit included women. What was the purpose of the Holy Spirit in the upper room? To empower people to fulfill the Great Commission.

The Great Commission is go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. >> ((applause)) >> After the resurrection, Jesus said to Mary Magdalene, "Go to my brethren and say to them, I have ascended to the Father." Jesus affirmed her as a witness to the gospel. God used Esther to save the nation of Israel.

He chose Esther because a man couldn't get it done. Ruth, a Gentile, gave birth to Obed. Obed is the great-great-grandfather of Jesus Christ. The New Testament church is filled with anointed women who serve by the command of God. There may be some evangelical leaders fearful of women having leadership roles in the church, but that fear is not found in the Bible.

Consider people who defied political authority with God's blessing. Political authority would be the state or the government. Are you ever permitted to defy the government? Yes. Whenever the government defies the law of God. >> ((applause)) >> Here's the illustration concerning the midwives of Egypt. Pharaoh told the midwives of Egypt, "Drown all Jewish male babies."

And they refused to do it. Why did he tell them that? Because he wanted to exterminate the Jewish people. If they drowned all of the Jewish male baby children, when the Jewish girls grew up and wanted to marry, all that there was to marry would be Egyptian, and therefore you would have the extermination of the Jewish people, and you would have never heard of Jesus Christ.

Think about that. Lie number two. Women must not teach or preach to men in a church setting. Some base this teaching on two scriptures in the Bible. 1 Timothy 2:11 and 1 Corinthians 14:34. 1 Timothy 2:11 reads, "That a woman learn in silence with all submission." That a woman learn in silence with all submission.

And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. I'll tell you why that happened. 1 Corinthians 14:34, "Let your women keep silent in the church, for they're not permitted to speak, but they are to be submissive as the law says."

Saint Paul was an Orthodox Jew speaking to Jewish people and their conduct at the synagogue. Factually, he was having trouble with the women speaking out because of this reason. Then and now, Orthodox synagogues have a curtain that goes right down the middle aisle of the main aisle of the church.

The women are on one side, the men are on the other side. That curtain is about 8 ft tall and goes all the way to the floor. The women sit over here, and the men sit over here. That's true of the synagogue that's just 2 mi down the road from here.

That hasn't changed. What was happening is the Paul that Paul or a rabbi was speaking, the women are not picking up on what he's saying, and she is asking through the curtain, "Baby, what did he say?" Paul said, "Shut that down. Go home and let your husband explain that to you."

That is an honest answer. To say that a woman in the 21st century may not preach or teach the word of God because of this custom is just biblical ignorance. Let me say it that way. God has favored the women to be world shakers all through history. >> ((applause)) >> My prayer against proud Father God, let your Holy Spirit anoint the women of America and of Cornerstone Church to crush Satan's hold on the home.

Let them be used as vessels of honor. Let them be used as vessels of honor. The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. That's you, ladies of Cornerstone Church. >> ((applause)) >> Can we stand together? The Bible says, "Let a man Let a woman examine themselves." Do you and your wife need to start praying together?

Remember ((music playing)) the power of two in prayer releases the power of God. Does your marriage lack happiness? Does it lack unity? Does it lack joy? Does it lack hope? >> ((music playing)) >> You're obviously not praying together. We need to spend more personal time with our children because our communication has been destroyed by the ever-present cell phone.

Our the communication between my wife and I needs improving. >> ((music playing)) >> I want you to take your wife's hand, and I want you to pray together right now. Father God, we've gathered in your house today to teach the principles of righteousness that are found in the word of God as a man should treat his wife and the wife should treat her husband so that they may be righteous in a day when the moral compass of America has lost its way. >> ((music playing)) >> Let the anointing of the Holy Spirit fall afresh and anew on every family of Cornerstone Church as they experience the miracle-working ((music playing)) power of two.
