for being here thank you for being with us online we welcome you to wednesday nights under the tent it's so much different than wednesdays or sundays under the tent but it's beautiful i love to see how whimsies are growing and how the lord has manifested his presence and doing great things in our midst been a lot of miles and met a lot of people and preached a lot of sermons since last we've seen each other on sunday and been to north carolina and been to west virginia been back now and today has been just really a super super busy day with a lot of uh just online things having to do and we were on newsmax a little while ago and so just a lot of interviews many of you know that yesterday after all this time i got the final can i got the final boot with a lifetime permanent ban from twitter that's interesting man and so i don't know if that's a badge of honor or something to lick my wounds over but we're not on twitter anymore but it grew telegram and it grew instagram and it grew getter and it grew all the other platforms and so i guess they think by deplatforming you they're going to take your voice away but what they do is accentuate the voice amen when the left tries to shut us down god just gives us a microphone and another platform and a megaphone and we just get louder and we just get louder and so he can't stop the gospel the devil can't stop what the lord is doing and so it's been an interesting week i think at 5 30 i didn't even watch it fox 17 did a little bit of a hit piece it was the short version at nine o'clock tonight if we're out they're gonna do the long version and uh so we'll see how that goes it'll be interesting but you know what it'll do to just drive more people here on sundays just to see what the lord's doing the tennessean did a pretty little hit piece usa today did one and so uh it's interesting they take the story of me being banned on twitter to really talk about why they don't like me and it has nothing to do with twitter and why they can't stand our church and why we're you know we're conspiracy theorists and kova deniers and you know anti-facts and they just want to they basically want to bully us into a corner of silence so that we give in and we give up and we finally apologize and we roll over and let the culture stroke our bellies and say oh we're sorry we're sorry we're sorry the reason we're not sorry is because you can't buy global vision by bible church ladies and gentlemen we're not for sale this bible church isn't for sale this pastor's not for sale this platform this ban we're just not for sale and so look when we have to apologize when we have to make things right we have to repent we'll do it but when we're right and we got the bible in our lane and we're going the right direction there's no need to apologize the devil hates oncoming traffic we are oncoming traffic to the enemy's camp to the enemy's kingdom and so we we we can't be silent we're dropping the right bombs over the right targets and we just continue amen we just continue and i believe tonight god's going to speak to our hearts in a beautiful way i've already enjoyed the worship i'm excited about further worship i'm really excited about prayer time i love prayer time on wednesday nights you know i wish sometimes we could just cut through all the drama and all the pizzazz and all the hurt feelings and all the power struggles just come to church to worship jesus everything wouldn't that be a beautiful thing ((applause)) put all the personalities aside last night i was preaching in west virginia place was packed to capacity and and i got towards the end of my message and i could tell i had a beating out of the palm of my hands it was ra rob bishkum we love jesus it was a rally man i could have sold cars that night i mean they were in it so we got close to the end of the message and i said look i'm gonna dial things back on purpose because i feel like i've fed my big personality a lot tonight in this service and i know look i know when when if i'm not careful my personality can overshadow what i'm trying to say i'm very demonstrative i'm big in public and want to be left alone drink my coffee by myself with my wife in private but last night i said look let's dial this thing back because this ain't about greg law this is about the gospel it's about jesus and i don't want my personality to overshadow what i'm trying to say about jesus you know sometimes i just want to go to church and i just want to be the pastor of global vision bible church right i just want to come to church and be a shepherd i don't care anything about internet stardom and newsmax and fox and cnn sometimes i just want to come to church just worship with my people amen just worship with the family that i love and that's what i want to do tonight i don't care about the rest of him thank god for everybody watching online but we're not doing this so we can get on more shows we don't need more radio exposure we don't need more newspaper exposure we don't need more social media exposure what we need is to be exposed to the presence of god tonight in this place like never before that's what we need and i want god to speak to our hearts and so that that's why i'm hearing so i just want to dial things back i just want to settle in be comfortable and watch god move in this place watch god move in this place so we got a lot of prayer requests that we want to share with you tonight and you know the drill we'll get you lined up here in a second and let you grab these requests and we'll nail all of this there are some heavy burdens in this place tonight but god we know that you are on the throne and that you are worthy to be praised in all things and god your children will not allow the rocks to cry out in our place and so god we will praise you and we will worship you in the valley and on the mountaintop because god no matter what is going on in our lives no matter what our situation is you are the constant one you are the same yesterday today and forever lord we can come to you and find grace and mercy in our time of need god we can find comfort and peace and love and all of the things that we search for and all of the things that we long for is in one name and that's the name of the lord jesus christ and so god tonight we thank you we thank you for your son we thank you for the holy spirit that can come in and teach us and comfort us and guide us lord god tonight no doubt so many people have some some decisions ahead of them so lord tonight we're asking from wisdom from your word god would we have open hearts tonight would the church hear what the spirit of the lord has to say may we feast on your word and allow it to cleanse us lord tonight in this place we thank you for all the people that willingly came forward that just needed prayer we thank you for the assembly of ourselves together i think about what monica said on sunday and how powerful that truth is that we are to come together as your bride as your church and edify one one another to lift each other up to love each other to carry each other's burdens and so god we thank you for the local church god we thank you that we have a body of believers that we can belong to that we can come to and get counseling and get wisdom and get prayer and get a hug when we need a hug or a smile when we need a smile or a pop upside the head when we need a pop upside the head lord we thank you for all of that we thank you that we are family and sometimes family doesn't always get along but we're still family and we still love each other and we still come together in unity because of who our father is and so lord tonight we just lift you on high in this place because lord it is you and you alone that we are looking to lord as we saying would you just open up the heavens would your will be done on earth as it is in heaven lord tonight would we see miracles in our midst would we see signs and wonders and all of the beautiful things that we long for god all of the things that we pray fervently for lord we trust you and we believe you because we have judged you faithful that has promised and lord your promises are yes and amen and so tonight god we are going to rest in your promise we will rest in the presence of your spirit in this place tonight god and lord we will worship you and we will praise you and we will honor you and we will give you all glory and all honor because it all belongs to you you are the alpha and the omega and so lord we just thank you and we love you in jesus name amen farm out there but they're getting ready to go over to peru for another lengthy survey trip there's several children's homes a couple of orphanages some homes that they're working in both in the desert and in the jungle total polar opposites today was their deadline on being able to get the tickets and i hope that that they're still able to get what they need and get where they need to go but how many of you believe that especially when you have people in your own house that the house honors those that you're sending out of the house amen and we're a blessing to these folks and we get them to peru and get his wife there and get these kiddos they're a godly family a good family a loving family and so tonight for just a few moments as we begin in our our time of worship you see the buckets up here they're not always here on wednesday when they are you can know we're given to somebody blessing somebody make it a check just make it out to global vision we'll make sure that they get what they need they need a remaining eight thousand dollars at least to get all the kiddos and he and his wife and everything over there and to be a blessing to them when they get there it's not cheap to travel with that big of a family uh internationally especially i think they've had about 3 600 or so dollars come in over the course of really a long duration of time we can get them over that tonight we can bless them and we can help them some of our very own so i want you to stand and we're going to worship with all of our heart tonight but it's part of our worship i want you just to know this last almost two years the devil has tried to separate to isolate us from not just one another but from the father and god says i've called you together there is nothing too big that he can't do there is nothing too out of his reach there is no one too far gone there is no circumstance there is no past there is no deed that his grace does not cover ((music playing)) and i don't know what you need today but i know that he is all in all that he is everything that we need if you need a healer he's a healer if you need a father he's a father if you need a friend he's a friend ((music playing)) so we're going to sing a little bit more and i just want i just want to run to the father tonight we have to come to a place where we are desperate for his presence desperate for his power because i don't want stale christianity i don't want a religion i want a relationship i want the power i don't want anything left behind i want all that he has to offer and he says i'm here i've just been waiting for you ((music playing)) so run to the park i'll fall into grace i'm done with ((music playing)) again again again i've run to the fall i fall into grace i'm done with the hiding no reason why my heart needs a certain ((music playing)) again again ((music playing)) again again ((music playing)) long before my first ((music playing)) deep in my chest your mercy is calling it's calling me out and just ask i am ((music playing)) ((music playing)) again ((music playing)) my heart needs again panted for the water so my soul longer after thee all cause you're lost you are alone all my hearts desire and i long ((music playing)) father we long to worship you that our soul would pant for you as the deer pounded forth the water so my soul ((music playing)) desire ((music playing)) cause you ((music playing)) are my strength my shield to you all alone maybe ((music playing)) desire and i long to shift thee ((music playing)) come on let's give him some praise tonight amen ((music playing)) i hope that is our desire psalm 42 1 as the deer panteth after the water brook so panteth longith thirsteth my soul after thee o god you know in that same context david makes a very interesting observation he said i will be satisfied when i awake with thy likeness you should never be spiritually comfortable or satisfied until you wake up looking just like jesus i will be satisfied when i awake without likeness and her singing that they're just kind of impromptu reminded me of that well i want to invite you to my favorite book of the bible the book of acts in the 19th chapter for just a few moments for our bible study time together tonight the book of acts in chapter 19 and really i just have a a wednesday night bible study thought that i want to share with you it'll take me a moment or two to develop the context and the historical narrative to get us where we need to be because as we often say bible preaching ought to come out of the bible thank you for standing our young people can be dismissed i get so excited about preaching i forget to get rid of the students amen get on students all right all of our young people 6th grade through the 12th grade they can be dismissed and find their place down below the hill there with the jones family while we find our place in acts chapter 19. and i appreciate our young people always having a a great group look at them grow and grow and grow and my goodness whole bunch of them going out and then a blessed amen give our young people a hand they're doing a great job for the lord let's pray father tonight i want to say thank you for letting me hold a microphone one more time and lift it up jesus and lord you said in red letters in the bible if jesus be lifted up then you'll draw people unto yourself and so i pray that you'll do what greg locke and global vision cannot do lord we just want to dial back a little bit and just teach let's preach a little bit from a passage on my heart and i pray that it would leave an indelible mark upon our soul tonight well there's one or two verses here that are so filled with gospel gravity they ought to pull us down to the ground in conviction and so i pray that you'd help me to develop them tonight in a way that would please you and bring honor to you but also would convict us and help us lord i want to come to church sometimes and fall under conviction to know how to be different to know how to be better for christ so tonight use this narrative to make us less of who we are by nature and more conformed to the image of our savior the lord jesus christ and whose name we pray and all of god's people said we've taught and studied and preached often times through the book of acts in a number of contexts and not too long ago under what i call now the old tent it's hard to even remember it now that the lord's done so much of his manifested glory in this one but under that tent we talk about something that happened in acts chapter 19 but we stopped short not for time's sake but it just wasn't the context of what we were dealing with so in acts chapter 19 you have to understand there's been a red-hot revival meeting that has taken place what we would call a blue flame revival people were being saved at the drop of a hat and the holy ghost was bringing the hat i mean he was throwing down the gauntlet converts were being baptized demons were being pulled out of people's bodies they were being healed i mean everything you could imagine a revival of the spirit of god to be was happening in acts chapter 19 and then some it was a beautiful beautiful display of the presence of god now in the middle of that there were some men that thought they were going to be just like the apostle paul they were seven sons of a man from skeva and he was basically an itinerant individual and so these men the vagabonds the king james calls them we don't have time to go back and look at them but these vagabonds these people that went from village to village they had no power themselves other than book smarts and how many you know there's a lot of people that are book smart and god dumb your education will get you just as far as a book will take you and the holy spirit can do way more than your phd and your education could ever imagine i had to unlearn a whole lot of stuff when i really started to study the bible it's a piece of paper on the wall that don't mean squat at the end of the day my grandfather used to say it's like the curl on a pig's tail it looks cute but it don't make any more ham and there's a lot of people that have a lot of book smarts but they have god in a box and i'm here to tell you when you get out of the books into that book you better know something god's going to extraordinarily change your life and so these men with book smarts showed up in town and they found a man that was demonically possessed and the bible says that these seven sons of skeva began to call over that man that had a devil in the name of the lord jesus comma whom paul preaches these men didn't even know jesus these men had a working understanding and knowledge of what the gospel was they had a head knowledge not a heart knowledge and as billy graham used to say much of the people in the church world are going to go to hell and miss heaven by 18 inches the distance from their head to their heart and these men knew about jesus but they didn't understand the power of the gospel themselves and so they said we know about jesus and we know about paul and so we command you in the name of jesus that paul preaches to come out of him and the devil laughed at them and the devil came out of that man's throat and said paul i know and jesus i know but who in the world do you think you are you see the devil sees through your fake spirituality did anyone what i'm preaching on tonight but i feel good about right this moment the devil sees through your religion the demons see through your denominational hierarchy and just a little bit of education what the devil is after is the anointing you hear me the devil's not just after your family he's not just after me as an individual he's not after this tent he's not after global vision bible church he's after the anointing that's what the devil's after because it's the anointing that breaks the bondage and the yoke of the devil's back in jesus mighty name there is no doubt about that fact and so he said look we know who paul is and we know who jesus is but we ain't got the foggiest idea who you think you are and the bible says the man in whom the devil was leaped on all seven of those men stripped them naked beat them half dead and shamed them out of town now i don't know if they had twitter back in that day but i guarantee you it blew up there is no doubt about it these preachers came to town and when they walked in they had on their three-piece suits they had on their bow ties they had their hair slicked back gold wire rim glasses big old family bible under their arm but that ain't the way they left town because the devil beat them and stripped them naked and shamed them out of town so they walked in like this but they walked out like that that's what the bible says shame them out of town because the devil can see through your fair circle nonsense the devil don't care how spiritual your grandmama was the devil doesn't care how spiritual your other pastor was the devil doesn't care how spiritual your parents are it's me it's me it's me oh lord standing in the need of prayer and you need a personal relationship with jesus you don't need my relationship with jesus you don't need their relationship you don't need his you don't need hers you need your own personal walk with god because the devil can see through all that fictitious nonsense but that's not even what we're preaching on so we're going to pick up the story right when it got finished of wounding these men stripping them naked kicking them out of town verse 17. and this say this what just happened the devil stripped them naked kicked him out of town this was known to all the jews and greeks also dwelling in ephesus i bet it was i bet the word spread real fast over that situation but notice what happened and fear fell on them all and the name of the lord jesus was magnified now let me tell you why that does something to me and my spirit tonight in bible study the devil did the work and jesus got the glory did you just see that the devil stripped these men naked beat them kicked them out of town and the bible says that fear fell on the people and they glorified jesus not the devil and i don't care what the devil throws your way i don't care what hail by the acre you've been fighting in your home i don't care what addiction you're falling down the steps struggling with i don't care what the enemy tells you it doesn't make any difference he will come against you he will malign you he will marginalize you he will attack you he will shame you he will guilt you but at the end of it god almighty is the one that's going to get the glory for everything the devil is putting you through because what the enemy means for evil god means for good that's why joel said that god is able to restore unto you the years that the locust ate now that's a whole wednesday night teaching in and of itself i used to say all the time well you know the bible says that god will give you back what the locusts ain't no done it says god will give you back the years that the locals say all those years you were a bad spouse all those years you were a bad child a bad parent all those years you were a bad you fit in the blank all those years you wasted when you wanted to serve jesus but you didn't have enough gospel motivation god is going to give all the years back that the enemy took away from you that's what the bible says so the devil did the leaping and jesus did the reaping the devil is the one that did the work and nobody said praise be to the devil everybody said praise be to the lord god almighty but then notice it says in verse 18 and many that believed came and confessed and showed their deeds now i love that natural progression right there in verse number 18 really it's an outline in and of itself you can take it and use it sometimes they came they confessed and they showed their deeds so they came to christ they believed they repented and believed the gospel that was the first message of jesus mark 1 15 repent and believe the gospel it was the first message of john the baptist repent for the kingdom of god is at hand it was the first message of the disciples repent repent repent not a happy-go-lucky clap your hand message nobody wants to hear it today but the message hasn't changed you need to repent that's what the bible says and so once they came to christ they repented and they confessed their sin the bible says we believe in our heart that god hath raised him from the dead romans chapter 10 and with the heart we believe unto righteousness and with the mouth somebody say mouth confession is made unto salvation life and death are in the power of the tongue and the bible said that they came and the bible said that they confessed but then i love this it says and they showed their deeds now here's why we're slowing down tonight here's why i think this is important i think we miss that if we're not careful we like that come to christ contest to christ repent believe the gospel but there's something that happens because you do that you see a salvation stick with me a salvation that won't change your life will never save your soul ((music playing)) a salvation that can't get you to church won't ever get you to god's kingdom there's no doubt about that a salvation that cannot transform you inwardly but only transform you outwardly is a powerless salvation and the bible says that we deny the power thereof and there's a lot of people in the church that profess christ but not possess christ and the bible says that they came and the bible says that they confessed and the bible says because of that they showed their deeds there was a visible transformation that took place in their life if there is one thing in the american church that i have been criticized more and more and more and more than even my political stand it's the fact that i believe when you get born again you will be a new creature in christ old things are passed away behold all things are become new you don't get to use the grace of god as lasciviousness and live any way that you jotted well please when you get born again you'll be different you won't be perfect but you will be different the god on the inside will manifest himself on the outside that's what the bible teaches you cannot show me you cannot show me a non-transformed christ follower in the bible well you know maybe i'm saved maybe i'm not some days i feel it some days i don't look you ain't saved by feelings you say by faith let me say something i'm happily wonderfully joyfully over the top madly in love married but i don't always wake up feeling married but i know i am because i wake up beside her and i got a ring on my hand right and so it's not that i wake up saying whoa i'm married well then one day i wake up i just don't feel married some people treat god like that they wake up one day well i'm saved wake up the next day well i don't know if i'm saved look you are not saved by your feelings you are saved by faith and guess what we got a ring called the bible to prove it ladies and gentlemen there's transformation of the heart when you get born again you've got to make sure you're basing your salvation on the right stuff now i don't think about i got to say this because i do this a lot in personal soul winning time when i'm when i'm trying to apply the gospel to people's lives and i see that they're like a deer in the headlights and they're not getting it i always say this i say look you've got to make sure that you're not just trusting on the fact that you know who jesus is mentally you're relying on the fact that jesus is your lord and savior and the only way to the kingdom it's all in what you believe not that you believe there's a lot of people that believe they believe they don't want to go to hell they believe that there is a god they believe that you know whatever whatever whatever at the end of the day the bible says believe on not believe him the devils believe and tremble and no devil's ever been born again so here's what i tell people in personal confrontation maybe to help you tonight let's just suppose for example that here in a little bit i give an invitation and somebody comes running down here to the altar by the lions and the tigers and bears oh my and they come down here and they kneel and let's just suppose that they say lord jesus i want you to save me right now by the grace of god and when they say that let's just suppose that the lights in the tent flicker kind of like they just did couldn't have planned that no better thank you so let's just suppose that the lights kind of just kind of flicker when you when you pray to trust god and you jump up and you're like well i'll be i know i'm born again because the lights flickered at global vision bible church under the tent when i got saved and prayed on a wednesday night so you walk out of here basing your salvation on the fact that the lights flickered when you prayed but the story doesn't end there because then you get down the road about half a mile and a drunk driver has gone off into the ditch and hit a telephone pole snapped it slam in too nes down there trying to fix it sparks flying all over the place wires hanging down the road do not pass do not pass do not pass danger danger high voltage so here's what the enemy says oh did the lights flicker in that tent because you got saved or did the lights flicker in that tent because a drunk hit a pole and that person goes the rest of their life not knowing whether they're saved or not because they base their salvation on lights flickering in a tent when they shoot a basement on a person named jesus christ it don't matter the lights are on or the lights are off or the lights are flickering right now it don't matter and people base their salvation on a lot of erroneous things that does not give them any concrete foundational proof that they've ever been born again and the bible says we are saved one way by faith by faith so they came to christ they confessed and they showed their deeds they proved their salvation we say the proof is in the puddin well this past sunday we said the proof is in the power the proof of your salvation is in your life transformation now here's the danger in that because there is a danger in that and the danger is this the danger is when we compare ourselves amongst ourselves we say well that person's not growing as fast as i am they're not changing as fast as i am they're not repenting as quickly as that look i'm not the measuring stick and neither are you everybody grows at a different rate some people grow over the course of 20 years some people grow over the course of 20 minutes some people get born again and they're bible theologians some people get born again and for 40 years they're ignorant as a brick and they've got to learn every day everybody's got to grow but they ain't got to grow like you grow and if we're not careful we'll look down our long phariserical noses at people that aren't where we are spiritually but i remind you you didn't get here in 24 hours and they ain't gonna get there in 24 or 48 hours either somebody loved you somebody was patient with you somebody discipled you somebody fasted for you somebody invited you to church somebody answered your phone calls and your crazy text messages at three o'clock in the morning and they loved you and they loved you and they loved you and the more stupid you were the more they loved you ((music playing)) and that discipleship and that holy spirit sanctification setting us apart makes us who we are right now so let me just say in passing make sure you love people where they are not where you wish they were don't love people five years down the road you love them right now or they'll never be who god called them to be five years down the road don't stunt their growth by making them use you as a measuring stick because you're not the measuring rod i'm not the measuring rod jesus is the measuring rod so you measure yourself against me and you look pretty good me and they won't take a long time to develop they just amaze me because without any fanfare without anybody poking and plotting nobody put up a tent nobody showed them a youtube video that this is it will be rotten and so they came they confessed they showed their deeds and the first way they showed their deeds is check this out verse 19. many of them same people that came confessed showed their deeds here's how they did it many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together and burned them before all men and they counted the price of them and found it 50 000 pieces of silver that's crazy right there nobody came to them that we know of in the narrative and said now look now that you have come to christ you confess your sins you got to go home and separate ain't i'm just now getting bold i believe our church is just now growing because lord when we can break through the nonsense we can get the real sense the sins of the holy spirit and i think there is a lot of churches don't see miracles signs wonders salvations baptisms and healings is because we got too much damning up the flow we got too many kinks in the holes and some people tonight need to go
