Transcript

So good to be uh with you guys at Movement Conference. My name's Louis. My wife Shelley and I are from Atlanta, Georgia. So we came a long way to enjoy the beauty of Montana and to be with our friends uh Levi and Jenny for these days. And I'm telling you, it's special what's going on here.

We were here a few years ago and seeing movement grow, be stronger. It's really beautiful and amazing. And so for Shelley, myself, uh thank you for letting us be a part. Levi and Jenny, we love you so much. And uh we are so excited to be here and be a part of the vision that God has a growing vision for the valley to be filled with the praise of Jesus for the glory of God to fill the flathead valley.

It's going to happen. It is happening. And um I think we should just always remember the people that are plowing the way because doing something like this is not easy. And uh the enemy is not thrilled about something like these few days. And so, Levi and Jenny, we we're celebrating you.

We're praying with you. We believe in you. It's just a real honor to be here serving alongside you. And what an incredible Yeah. Let's do give some appreciation, honor to these guys. And what an amazing start last night. It was like we just got shot out of a cannon last night.

Like that was not a first night. That was a second night, a third night, a fourth night. And then this morning seeing so many people responding to the stirring of the Holy Spirit. And I just believe that we're in the middle of something beautiful. And I really am more excited about this message than maybe any message I've given in this year.

And you know, I I I just want to make sure we all understand that. Everything in your life might not change tonight or in these few days that you're here at movement, but because of tonight, everything in your life can change. In other words, we're not preaching a message that says, "Hey, it's all going to change right here and right now in the next hour and a half."

But what we do believe is that because of the next hour and a half, everything in your life can change. And I'm sharing a message tonight that I wish so much. And I know you hear old people say this all the time, but I wish so much that I had heard this message when I was your age.

I was probably 20 years older than you before I really wrapped my life around what my life is built on now. I loved God. I grew up in church. I came to stuff like movement. I I was all about it. God called me into full-time ministry when I was like 18, 19 years old.

I was all about it. But I didn't really get the message that has shaped my life that I want to share with us tonight until I was way past middle school, way past high school, way past college, already married to Shelly. And then God turned a page in my life.

And it radically shifted the way that I live life. And I'm so excited to be able to share that message with all of us tonight, believing it's going to shift your life in a powerful way as well. I loved last night seeing people come down at the end of Shawn's talk, which was phenomenal.

By the way, Pastor Shawn, sorry Shawn, I don't know if I know you well enough to just say Sean's talk. Pastor Shan's talk this morning, seeing so many people respond after Maddie shared and the Lord was stirring today. And maybe that'll happen tonight. Maybe we'll have people come down.

But I'd like to try something tonight that's a little bit different. And as at you know, I preach by faith and not by sight. When I was younger, if I looked at somebody and they looked like totally disinterested, they're looking at me like, "I hope you fall over and die."

Like right there. I would just get so freaked out. I'd start preaching harder and try to add stuff and, you know, change things and move the dynamic, say, "I'm going to get this person right here." And I stopped doing that a long time ago because we walk by faith and not by sight.

And I believe we preach by faith and not by sight. I I'm here tonight believing the Holy Spirit's going to do miracles all over this grass tonight. And um I I don't know, you might be the least likely person to experience that tonight, but I believe it could happen in your life.

But I would love to know as the word of God is being preached tonight. If there's a moment where God just speaks to you and you're like, "Dang, God, you're talking to me right now. I know there's hundreds or thousand plus people in this place, but you you just wo wow."

And you might be 13 or 44, but you're like, "Wow, that that was me right there." I want to encourage you in that moment just to raise your hand. We're not going to clap. We're not going to applaud. I'm not going to stop. I'm not going to point at you, but it's just a way of saying, "God just spoke to me.

God is speaking to me right now like crazy." And then you just put it down like 15 seconds. Just try that real fast with me. Just like 10 seconds. Even 10 seconds feels like an hour when you're maybe the only person on your road. See, she's already got her hand down.

She couldn't go 8 seconds, you know. Let's try 10 seconds. So, let's try again. You can do it. I promise. I I said I wasn't going to recognize people, but you're young. You're vibrant. I know the Lord is with you. Just 10 seconds. Let's just try it. Just 10 seconds.

That's like three, you know, we're moving up into six now. Counting slow. We're like eight. Okay, that's like 10 seconds. So, it seems like a long time, but it's not that long. But I would just love it any point from the drop to the end that you're like, "The Lord just spoke to me and I just want to testify God is speaking to me."

Just put your hand up for 10 seconds and you put it back down. You might put it back up again 5 minutes later. But it's just a way for us to not have you looking at me and me looking at you, but all of us hearing from God's spirit stirring the word of God in our hearts tonight.

Lord, I thank you for the beauty that surround us. It makes it hard for any of us in this place tonight not to want to give you praise, knowing that these mountains are, these trees are, the sky is, and so why wouldn't we? They don't know your grace.

Jesus didn't die for any of them. They haven't been redeemed and set free. They weren't rebels, but we are and were. So tonight, we just want to give you the praise and the glory for your grace and mercy. Holy Spirit, I thank you that you are an eyeopening spirit.

And I pray tonight that you'd open eyes all across movement 25. That you would reveal Jesus. That you would say and show us things that we couldn't see or know or hear if it weren't for you making it clear to us. And I pray that for everyone here.

Nobody at this place, including me, needs to know or hear anything I have to say. But I know I do and I know everyone in this place tonight needs to hear from you. So I thank you for that and give you praise in advance in Jesus name. Amen.

Amen. This message tonight is uh is called um the glorious why. Can you say that with me? The glorious why. Not the letter Y, but wh Y. And it comes out of a verse of scripture that this is what I was talking about earlier that I wish I'd seen this verse.

I wish somebody had preached out of this verse. I I wish I'd heard this verse earlier in my life. But it comes from Colossians 3:1 17 if you have your scripture and it's probably going to come up on one of these screens if you don't. But Paul's talking in this chapter about a new way of life.

So if we read the whole chapter, he's talking about how we we were one way, but now we met Jesus and we're a different way. We did live one lifestyle, but now we met Jesus and we live a different lifestyle. So we put off the old way of thinking and an old way of living.

We put on a new way of thinking and a new way of living. And then he kind of applies it to you and me. He says, "And so for you and the family of God, you're going to live different. You're going to act different. you're going to treat each other different because you're not the old you thinking the old ways, living the old ways.

You're the new you thinking in new ways and living in new ways. And then he comes down to the end of this section and he says in verse 17, he says, "In whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

Check that phrase out. in whatever you do in word or in deed. And he's just encompassing our whole life. And I'm thinking I I wish so much that I had been able to wrap my life around that idea when I was 16 or 18 years old because somewhere around 17, 18, I started asking questions like what what am I supposed to do with my life?

What is God's will for my life? What what is the plan? What is the purpose? What am I going to be when I grow up? what what does God want me to do? What why am I on earth? And once I got a hold of verse 17 of Colossians 3, I realized, wow, I need to stress less about what I do and I need way more clarity about why I do what I do.

Point number one, thank you. Got one second over there. The first big idea here is this. We're always asking the question, "How do I know God's will for my life?" Now, if you're 13 or you're a middle schooler here, it's not likely that you're stressing right now over God's will for your life, and you don't need to be.

But if you're coming toward the end of high school or you're transitioning over that hurdle into college, university, gap year, age, you're already stressed a little bit, I'm guessing, tonight about what is the plan? like, is there somebody out there for me? Is there an A path and a B path?

And how do I get the right path and not the wrong path? And maybe you're thinking about going to grad school and you're like, is it this grad school or that grad school? Or am I supposed to go to that college or this college or go to that town or this town or take that job or take that job or what what is the plan?

And we start stressing out over how do I know God's will for my life? Or how can I find God's will for my life? And Colossians 3:17 says, "Hey, you can take a deep breath right now because you don't need to stress over finding God's purpose for your life."

God's will for your life will find you. When the time is right, God's will for your life will come and knock on your door. You probably won't even be thinking about that door and you'll go, "Oh my word, I can't believe this. This is what God has for my life."

I was 18 years old, 19 years old, and I want to be a professional tennis player. And that was not going to happen, by the way. That was a dream. I was not good enough. But I did play tennis like six hours a day for my high school years.

And so when I went to the university to university at Georgia State, I went to play on the tennis team there. And that was my dream. And I thought I'll get better. I'll play in in college. I I'll be low-level pro. Eventually, I'll be professional tennis player. And I'm going to, you know, use all this for God's glory.

Of course, I'm going to sign my autographs with my name and a scripture verse. I already had it all planned out, but I wasn't good enough. A, and B, when I got to my first year of college, I got injured in the fall camp. I mean, it's not even tennis season yet, and I ripped this muscle in my side.

I can't lift my hand above my shoulder. I couldn't serve a tennis ball for a billion dollars. And the the camp just goes on without me. And they're like, "Hey, sorry. We're moving on. All the places have been taken. The team's all set. You're not on it." And I'm like, "All I know is tennis.

I played tennis like all day every day for my entire high school years. What am I going to do? And I'm in this limbo place. And in this limbo place of all things in my bedroom in the apartment that my family lived in in my college years, the Holy Spirit showed up in my bedroom one night and God must he he should have been talking out loud cuz it sounded like he was talking out loud to me and he said, "I have a calling on your life.

He's just knocking on my door. I am not looking for a calling. I'm not asking God, you know, what is your will for my life?" He just shows up and announces to me, "You are going to proclaim my word to your generation. You are going to preach the gospel all the days of your life to your generation.

That is the calling I have for your life." And I'm like so overwhelmed by this unmistakable calling. Not like I think you're saying I should proclaim the gospel or are or let me just back up. Are you saying I'm going to preach the word? that's what I'm going to do with my life.

No. So clear, so compelling. And in that moment, I I had no option but to say how me, you know, why me? And he's like, I'm choosing you. And as a few days went by and I went, well, no kidding. I'm the president of my senior class. There are couple thousand people at our high school.

Multiple times in the last year, I stood up in front of the whole student body. I I stand up in front of the entire homecoming stadium full of people. And whenever I did that, I felt more at home standing in front of the 2,000 people in my school and talking about whatever we were talking about than any other place I was.

We went on a mission trip that summer before. A small group of us went to Wyoming from Atlanta and uh we had these amazing, you know, youth rallies in Wyoming. There were 13 people at one night and seven at the other. It kind of went downhill after the first night.

And um the youth pastor asked me to preach. I'm preaching to 13 people in Wyoming Wyoming. And I feel like this is where I'm supposed to be. I still have a dream to be a professional tennis player. I haven't added up the dots yet. I haven't connected. I love God.

I love this word. I'm good at talking to people. And God moves in me when I talk and people talk to people. But as soon as he knocked on my door, I went, "No kidding." And that's how it's going to work for you. There'll be a moment when God decides it's time for you to fully know the plan.

He's happy right now just to tell you about Friday. He's happy right now just for you to walk with him at movement. He's happy for you right now just to fall in love with him today. He's happy for you right now just to get in his word and grow strong in your faith.

He doesn't need to give you the big plan today. He's like, "You know where the tent is? Okay, you got all the information you need to know right now. Just stay close to Jesus and grow in your faith and a moment will come." Well, I will knock on your door just like he did with David.

Remember, he went to the the they went to anoint a new king. They went to the brothers of David, the tallest, the next tallest, the biggest, the baddest, all of them. And he's like, "No, it's not any of these. You got any more kids?" He's like, "Well, we got this little boy out here with a sheep.

Bring him in here." He bring David in and he goes, "That's the one I'm looking for right there." And he anoints David. Here's God's will for your life. David was not sitting out with the sheep that night going, "Man, I just don't know. I don't know. I'm good at wrestling bears.

I've killed a lion before. I'm really good at being a shepherd. Uh I'm pretty good on the guitar. Um I'm I do good with melodies. I'm a pretty good songwriter, i.e. the Psalms. Uh I don't know, God. What's it going to be?" No, he's just being faithful. And then on the right moment at the right time, God calls him and says, "You don't need to find God's will.

God's will is going to find you." I have a friend who says it like this. If you're asking the question tonight, what should I do with my life? He said, you know, it's really two things. What do you love to do? What do you love to do? I ask you tonight, what do you love to do?

But secondly, what do other people love for you to do? Because there's probably somebody here tonight, you're like, I love singing songs and writing music. Well, do other people love for you to sing songs and write music? Uh, no. They don't really love it as much. Okay, that's probably not it.

But God is going to put something in you at the right time. He's going to connect it to you. But what he wants you to know tonight is here's a big idea. Whatever you do, whatever you do in word or deed, do it all. I'll just tip my hand a little bit tonight.

Do do you think maybe you want to be in a medical profession? Maybe a nurse or a doctor, a nurse practitioner, an anesthesiologist, a brain surgeon, an orthopedic surgeon, somebody who draws blood and takes tests for people. Do you think somewhere in your mind you're like, "I think I'm going to be in the medical profession."

Well, guess what? God is okay with that. Because that's in the whatever. Whatever you do in word or deed, here's the most important thing. Just do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. That's the why you do it, not the what you do. And God wants to free people tonight.

You don't need to get a call like, "I got knocked on my door. You're going to be a preacher the rest of your life." We only need a certain number of preachers on earth. Amen. We need way more EMTs, way more technicians, way more computer programmers, AI wizards.

We need people who are in finance and in education and the arts that are movie makers. We need people who are in sports and entertainment. people who are homebuilders and who are in classrooms and people who are architects and people who are engineers. We need lawyers and and dealmakers and bankers.

We need all kind of people in the world living for the glory of God. Not just preachers standing up on stages on Sunday saying, "Look at me. I got called to preach." I will never reach the people that you're going to reach because of your whatever that God is going to call you to do to the glory of God.

The second big idea tonight is this and this is coming out of the whatever. I'm asking a question. It's going to be a little bit tricky for a moment. Is the biggest issue in your life tonight whether you choose Jesus or whether you choose the world? There's a song I love right now and the bridge of it says, "I don't I don't want anything else.

I don't need anyone else. You are my one thing. You are my one thing." And that is true. I don't need anything else but Jesus. And I really don't want anything else but Jesus except my wife and I do want her. And I do love the calling that God has put on my life.

And I do love serving into that. And I do love serving our church that we serve in Atlanta. And so I really do love being a pastor. And I actually love our golden doodle, London. And I love being out in nature. And I love riding my my bike out on the road.

So yes, I I don't need anything else, but I really do love a lot of things else. And so I'm asking the question because I have spent my whole life preaching at events like this. And I'm asking a new question tonight. Is really the choice Jesus or the world?

And you say, "Well, I'm thinking about this rich young ruler in Luke 18." And this guy came to Jesus and said, "What what must I do to inherit eternal life?" And Jesus says, "Well, you know all the law." This guy was brought up in the church in and in in Judaism and he knew the Ten Commandments.

And he's like, "You know all the law?" He goes, "Yeah, I've been observing that stuff my whole life." He goes, "Great. Here's one thing for you. go sell all your stuff and give it to the poor and come follow me." And it says, "And the guy got real sad because he was so loaded and he walked away from Jesus choosing the world and not choosing Jesus."

Paul, a hero of our faith to the letter of the Philippians, he said, "Hey, you know, if you're looking for somebody who had the right credentials religiously, I grew up in a Jewish household. I was a teacher of teachers. I was uh head of head head of the synagogue.

I the smartest of the smartest. Came from the right family. Got the right heritage. He goes, "But you know all that stuff about me for my background in Judaism, I count that is lost." He's like kind of like cow dung compared to knowing Jesus. You're like, "Well, that sounds like trunk the world and give me Jesus."

But both of those texts, please just hang in there with me tonight. Both of those texts are talking about salvation. How did the rich ruler get saved? Put all your trust in Jesus, not in your riches. What was Paul saying? You don't get righteous by being in the right family and learning all the religious information and being a leader in the religious system.

You get righteous through what Jesus did on the cross for you and me. And he goes, "This is why all that to get righteous is done. Jesus is the way you get righteous. And I'm putting all my chips in the middle of the table with Jesus. That's how I'm saved. and that's how I have right standing with God.

So those texts really aren't about is it being an attorney and working in New York or being a family maker in Idaho or being on a sports team or is it Jesus? The question really is if you're doing any of these things, why are you doing them? Levi has preached this amazing message lately about this guy that we read about in Matthew 13.

And it says he was walking through this field and he saw treasure in the field. And when he saw it, uh maybe he was plowing in the field or working in the field. He buried the treasure again, covered it over, went away and saved up all of his money and he got everything that he had and he went and bought that field because he knew the treasure in the field.

And the treasure in the field represented the kingdom of God, the ways of God, the purpose of God, the life of God, the mission of God, the realm that God is in, the things of God. I I want to buy that. I I want to cash into that.

And that's the person I think God is wanting us to think about tonight because I I preach this message. You know, um for some of us, we're thinking about the world and you're thinking about your grades. some of you that you're praying about this next year and hoping you make it.

Others of you are almost there. A lot of you are super smart. Some of you are like me, not applying yourselves fully right now. Um, but that's where we thinking about the world or or you're thinking about your tunes, your music, the stuff that you're listening to, your, you know, your Spotify playlist and all the stuff that you really are jamming to that little bubble that you create when you get inside your world.

Or, uh, we were going to have a phone. I didn't bring my phone up here, but we got this phone. This is amazing. This is a whole different sermon right here. This, my friends, is a telephone. No, I'm serious. You You talk in the bottom, you listen to the top, you dial on here, it plugs into the wall, and you can roam around, go wherever you want to, as long as you don't go any further than that.

Did anybody ever talk on one of these in your lifetime? No, you did not. No, you did not. No, you did not. I don't believe that. If you if you really remember, let's go back for the older people just for a second. You younger people just, you know, chill for a sec.

Any older people remember that you got the like 25 ft cord so that you could bring the phone down the hall and under your door and close the door to your bedroom and now you got this thing coming like all the way down here like, "Hi babe, how you doing tonight?" "Yeah, I miss you too, boo."

And then your little brother would go into the kitchen and push the little thing. You'd be like, "Ah, I kill you." But let's say your phone and on it you've got access to everything in the world. You literally have access to almost everybody alive. You can go across the world and and watch somebody eat dinner.

You can go across town and see your friends going on a date or hanging out together as friends. You can see what your classmate wore to the dance. You can hear all the news events that are happening all over the world in real time. and and then you've got like a social media presence where you're kind of showing the world this is me and obviously like me, you're doing mostly your highlights on your social media.

We're not putting a lot of our low lightss on there. We're we're checking the lighting. We're making sure you know that our face, our complexion is semidecent. For me, you know, the the wrong light, my face is all red and glowing like, you know, a tomato and I'm like, "No, that's not going to work.

I got to turn this way more. No, I got to go that way more." and all of a sudden we're so concerned about what we're projecting to the world and what are people thinking about us or it could be and I don't know we're in Montana but uh may maybe you want to be a rodeo girl or a rodeo guy or maybe you want to be a rancher or farmer any ranchers or farmer wannabes maybe in the house or no rancher no farmer but any any barrel racers in the house or thank you very much any cowboys in the house anybody No, we're all way up here in Montana.

We don't have any. Okay, I've got a few cowboys. Or maybe for you it's like some accomplishment that you earn and you you worked really hard and the world at some point said, "Hey, way to go. This feels like a participation trophy, but maybe that was great, too."

Or maybe it's the stuff that you have. May maybe you were fortunate enough to get the the latest drip and you're like, "Hey, check out, you know, the the shoes. What a flex I've got going on with those." Or, "Look at this or that or the other." Or maybe you don't care about any of that stuff.

Or maybe it's a family. And some of you are already stressed out a little bit cuz you're like, it ultimately has got to be me and her and all them or me and him and all them. And that feels stressful right now cuz I don't have anybody I'm interested in.

And I know nobody I don't think's interested in me. And that seems like a pipe dream and a whole lot of work and a whole lot of energy. And I don't know if I'm really going to do that. And there's so much about the world. I mean, maybe for some of you a little bit older, you know, maybe it's it's the it's the, you know, the stash.

You younger kids are like, "No, I got stuff on my credit card. My mom just put some more on there today on my debit card." But some of you older people in here are thinking, "I got to get, you know, a certain amount. That's real money, by the way.

It's very close to you right now. You hope that it blows off and blows your way." And I used to preach I used to preach the rich young ruler. I was like, you've got the opportunity to have the treasure that was buried in the field, which is Jesus, life with Jesus, relationship with Jesus, future with Jesus.

And so I'm asking you tonight, are you going to choose the world? all the grades and the success or the little bubble that you create or your gaming world that you're living in and your Fortnite community that's so important or your your connection to the world and your status and what you're projecting or all the accomplishments that you could possibly get or the stuff you've got or are you going to choose all this stuff and say, "Man, this is what you know life is really all about and if I could get on Fortnite in my tent, I'd be on there tonight. or I'm asking you tonight, are you going to choose Jesus?

I preached that message so many years and then it dawned on me and I'm just going to be really super honest for a minute and I'm mostly speaking about me although I'm going to include a few of my friends that maybe it is true for a lot of us tonight and and for all of us it is true in some way that we have to understand that the world is not for us and Jesus is everything.

But maybe there's a different way to look at this tonight. Holy Spirit, help us. Because the third idea here is that I believe we can elevate to a higher place where it's not all about what you do. I'm a good student. I got in a good school. I had really good grades.

I did. I was the best person on our team. I did win the award for our class. I did get recognized because I'm really good at what I do. And I you know what? I already have a savings account and I'm in middle school and I got a Robin Hood account and I got some Bitcoin in it.

Not a lot, $20 worth, but it's in there right now. And you're thinking, I want to prepare and be ready. Or maybe you do have some cool stuff. Or maybe you are a great cowgirl and every great cowgirl has great hat and horse. And maybe you are a great gamer.

May maybe you you do want to have a family. But here's the thing. It's not all about what we do. It's about why we do what we do. What did the verse say? It says, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

So, if we're honest, and some hands probably would go up right about here, there are a lot of things you can't do in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. And those just fall by the wayside because you're understanding now what whatever I do in word or deed with these people or these people, these friends, those friends on this situ situation, this situation, that setting, this setting, on this day, on that day, whatever I do, I want to make it my ambition to do everything I do in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And guess what? There's some of the stuff that we're doing right now on this field that cannot be done in the name of the Lord Jesus. And it has to go by the wayside today. It has to come under that word that Maddie preached today. It has to come under the word repent.

And it needs to go. And it's not simply because it's bad. It's mostly because you can't do it in Jesus' name. And your aim in life has changed hopefully from I don't want to be bad. I want to be good. I don't want to do bad stuff. I want to do good stuff.

I don't want to be a bad person. I want to be a good person. And that's not wrong. It's just that you elevate it to I want to be a person whose life is lived for the glory of God. I want to be a person who lives their life for the name that is above every name.

I want to live my life for Jesus. So, I have a new filter now. And it's not, oh, that's bad. I'm not supposed to do bad things. It's like, oh, that's not going to glorify God. So, that's got to go. And people say, why didn't you do that? because I can't glorify God doing that.

You know, it's one of those things about drinking. And I know people here aren't drinking a lot, but when Paul says uh in Ephesians, don't be drunk with wine, for that is a waste is the word he used. He uses a big Bible word. He says that's dissipation.

But that word just means wasted. So, isn't that interesting that we get the word wasted from the Bible? Don't be drunk with one because when you're drunk with one, you're wasted. But he said, "Here's what I want you to be. I want you to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and I want you to speak to one another in psalms and worship and songs of praise to God.

I want you to be a praising God person, not a wasted person." And that's the most beautiful picture because you can do a lot of things when you're wasted. You can do a lot of stuff when you're wasted, but the one thing you can't do when you're wasted is glorify God. and to have a whole shift of of life that says I'm not trying not to do bad stuff.

I want my life to glorify God. And so if one of my friends says, "Well, why aren't you coming to this thing?" Cuz you know what? I don't think I can glorify God there. I don't think that whole thing that you're inviting me to is going to be about glorifying God.

So it'd be better for me not to be there because I want my life to be about him. And so I I think the shift is coming. Right? So what I'm saying tonight is maybe God isn't asking you to get rid of all this because if the truth be be told and I'll just talk about me.

Um I I've gotten a lot of accomplishments in my life. There's no point naming any of them because no one cares. I mean, I got some award for some book I wrote the other day, and Shel will tell you, it's still in a box in our garage cuz I'd feel terrible about throwing it away, but I'm definitely not putting it in my house.

But I got it. A lot of people would love to get it. And you know, if I'm tell truth be told, the people that are speaking at this conference, and I'm mostly just talking about me, but I'm at the low end of the totem pole, have a lot of followers.

And so many times it's easy for me to get up and say, "Hey, it's not all about your followers while I have hundreds of thousands of followers and other people that are here have millions of followers and all the people are going to be up here collectively have got millions and millions and millions and millions of followers.

So for us to preach, you know what, choose Jesus and don't choose the followers." It's like, well, I don't know. You got two and a half million followers and you know what? It's not bad that they do. You know why? Because they didn't put their hope in the followers.

And they're not getting their identity from the followers. And they're not getting their identity from the haters. They're getting their identity from the treasure they have found in Jesus. And they are shielded from the haters because they've chosen the treasure. And so they're they're elevating. And when I say they're elevating, this is what's happening.

They are moving from a place of saying I'm not looking to the world or to money. It almost came your way to give me my identity to give me my purpose to give me significance. No, I've already got purpose and I've already got meaning and I've already got significance.

I'm bringing my significance in Jesus over here to the world and I'm saying anything I do and I get credited for, I'm telling the world about Jesus. I do want to store up my treasure in heaven and I want to build up stewardship on earth. You know why?

Cuz I want to be the most generous person in my town. I want to be able to bless people all through my life. I want to have riches to be able to pour into kingdom adventures like movement 25. When I'm 35 years old, I want to be able to invest in something like this.

When I'm 65, I want to put 10 grand into something like this. I want to ask God to bless me so that I can be a blessing to people. I'm not looking to money to give me significance and comfort. I am looking to Jesus to give purpose to my money, purpose to my education, purpose to the fact that I have a good brain and gotten a great school and got great grades.

I want to have Jesus giving purpose to that and purpose to my rodeo and purpose to my family. I'm not looking to go, God, I just need a husband and three kids and two dogs and a pig. You're like, "No, God, I want these kids to be arrows for Jesus.

I want this marriage right here to be a light that shines for Jesus. I want this family to be a kingdom family who found the treasure in the field and said, "Our family is not going to be about a picket fence at the end of the street and getting our kids in the right school and on the right soccer team and getting everybody happy so we can go on a vacation like the Joneses down the street.

No, our family is going to be for the glory of God. Our kids, by God's grace, are going to be for the glory of God. We're going to make our house about the glory of God." So, it's not saying, "Hey, cash in all this and get this." It's saying, "No, Jesus, he gives purpose to all of that.

He's the one who gives it meaning. And if you're looking for your purpose tonight in one of these things, you bought the wrong field. And he's saying, "Punt that field. Cash out of that field and get all that's in your heart and come by this field because this is where the treasure of the kingdom of God is found."

And we need people who are in that field. God in us at movement want you to thrive in whatever sphere he sends you to. Somebody said you're into rodeo. One of you ladies. Somebody said you're into barrel racing. Did somebody into barrel racing? I hope you race your tail off.

I hope you are so good. But before that, I hope you're the best person at this thing. I hope you're the nicest person there except for when the thing drops and it's your time. Kill everybody. Eliminate everybody. Beat everybody. But then once you beat them, be so nice to them.

Care about them. Ask how they're doing. Remember their family's name. Let them know, "Hey, if we go to this thing, I guarantee you, what's your name?" >> Scout. >> Scout. No kidding. You're going to be a great barrel racer, Scout. Um, what's your horse's name? Lost you on that one.

Horse have a name. >> Nelly. >> Nelly. Scout. Nelly. Look out for him. They're coming. They're coming. Scout. Scouts on the second row. She She's got a Bible taking notes. She's ready. So, what am I going to say tonight? Hey, Scout. Chump Nelly and choose Jesus. And you're going to have to go home and say, "Come here.

Come here, Nelly. I hate to break it to you, but I went to movement and got touched by the spirit of God and um we're selling you cuz you're too expensive if we're not racing." Is that what we're going to say tonight? Is that what God's saying tonight?

No. God is saying tonight, guess what? You don't have to be a preacher. Whatever you do, is barrel racing included in whatever you do in word or in deed. Just do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. That does not mean that scout has to put a Bible verse on her hat on the inside so that somebody finds the hat and looks inside under the thing.

It says John 3:16 to the glory of God. It doesn't mean that she has to come out of the shootute, flying out of there, going across that that that arena for the first time and go, "Hey everybody, I'm just coming out in Jesus' name. Just letting you know, get ready."

No, it's more about the way she lives. It's about the way she carries herself. It's about the things she values. It's about her not going down too low when she comes in second and definitely not getting on her high horse when she comes in first. It's about her being the the brightest light out there.

But riding the riding Ellie like a boss. If I were your youth pastor, pastor, I'd be texting you every every rodeo. Go out there and preach with the stirrups because they're not going to have a preacher at the barrel race. It's going to be Scout doing the preaching.

And I pray scout in the name of Jesus that you become a phenomenal barrel racer to the best of your ability but with the wind of the Holy Spirit and that you even surprise yourself and Nelly at how amazing that you do. But I'll I'll be honest with you.

Sometimes when we're in a moment like this, the next thing you hear is, "Did you hear that Nelly stumbled and Scout broke her collarbone? she's out of barrel racing this year. You're like, "Wait a minute. She just said it's for the glory of God." Saying it's for the glory of God doesn't mean you're not going to have bumps in the road.

It doesn't mean you're not going to have setbacks. It means that in the bump in the road and in the setback, you go, "Thank God that even the bump of the road, I can do it for the glory of God. And even in the setback, I can do it for the glory of God.

And a broken collar bone, I can do that for the glory of God. I can do whatever in word or deed, I can do it in Jesus name." And when you come to that place in your life, you're unstoppable because it doesn't matter whether you're a plumber because you can be a plumber in Jesus name.

It doesn't matter if you've got a amazing computer mind. You don't have to go, "Well, I'll I'll be a great computer person and I'll go to church and be a nice person, but when we get to heaven, it's going to be Levi and, you know, Pastor Sean and Maddie and Bryce Crawford and uh TA and I'm sure Carrie and Cody will be way up there and somewhere.

There's probably another line like two miles down there for the computer people." No, there ain't no special line for the full-time ministry people in heaven. It's a line for the whatever people. I did what you put in my heart to be good at. I did what you put in my heart to be passionate about.

And I did it to the best of my ability, to the glory of God all the days of my life. I wanted my life to count for the fame and the name of Jesus. Excuse me. I only get one life. And what I've learned about it is it lasts about 5 seconds.

But the fame of Jesus is eternal. And the saddest thing on earth is people living for the fame of the five seconds and then it's gone. Hulk Hogan died yesterday. Anybody know who Hulk Hogan is? He passed away. Somebody was shocked. I'm sorry I broke that to you.

Sorry you don't have bones here. He did come to know Jesus uh recently in his life who was baptized recently. You know, I remember growing up and I wasn't the biggest wrestling fan of all time, but this guy was like bigger than life. He literally was like a Mount Rushmore of entertainment. done.

You're like, "Well, he was 70s something and that's longer than 5 seconds." No, it's not. The scripture says it's like on a cool Montana morning when you blow your breath out and you see it and then it's gone. But what if I told you tonight that in the five seconds you could make your life about the name that never fades away?

So that at the end of your life, you're like, "My five seconds is still counting because I made my 5 seconds count for what never ends. My 5 seconds is over." But it's not just all about me setting up uh trust and goodwill and passing stuff to my kids and my wife and my spouse and to this foundation and that and you know so I know my money is still living on.

It's like no my 5 seconds are over but my money is still in heaven because I got the whatever and I made my money count for the glory of God. You know it's interesting real fast when Sean was preaching last night about Paul and Silas being in that prison in Acts 16.

The whole chapter is about them getting arrested, getting beaten, going into prison, praising God anyway, shaking ground, chains falling off, prisoners being set free, the jailer got saved, his whole family got saved, they all got baptized. And the last verse in that chapter, that is so amazing. I thought about it this morning waking up, the last verse in that chapter says, "And when they escorted them out of town, they went to the house of Lydia."

These are the throwaway verses in the Bible. These are the verses that nobody's got highlighted. And when they got released, they went to Lydia's house and they met with some of the believers there. Nobody has that verse underlined. It's just one of those, ah, they went to Lydia's house.

I don't know Lydia. In fact, I've never heard anybody talk about Lydia. Thank you, Lori, for talking about Lydia. Tell me about Lydia. Lydia was a scout. She was a boss businesswoman. She sold purple linen, which was one of the greatest garments you could sell on that day.

She would get it from the east and import it to the Middle East. And because of her job, her success, her savvy, her entrepreneurship, her finances, she became an anchor in the New Testament church. So yeah, two guys got beat up and put in jail, but the story also includes a lady who is a phenomenal businesswoman because it's about whatever you you you get arrested.

Great. Do that in the name of Jesus. You sell purple linen and are stacking up bank. Great. Do that in the name of Jesus. Because it's not about what you do, it's about why you do what you do. And we just want to encourage you. I want to encourage you.

But movement wants to encourage you. Graduate. Please, dear God, graduate. You can do it by the grace of God. Graduate. Take it seriously. Step up. Become a better student. Tell your student and your teacher and your parents, "I need tutor. I want to do good." Why? Because Jesus is now involved in my school.

I I want whatever I'm doing, football, soccer, whatever, rodeoing, I want to put all I've got into it. I'm not going to half cook anything. I I I do want to be recognized. We want you to be the smartest, the highest character. If they give an award in your grade for the person of the highest character, we want you to be that person.

We want you to be recognized. We want the light to come on you. And now, ladies and gentlemen, Jeremy. And we're all like, that's our guy right there. Jeremy's got an opportunity right now to make it about Jesus. And you don't have to do that by saying, "First, I'd like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

First, I'd like to just give thanks to God." You don't have to do it that way. You got a whole crowd watching you. You just got recognized. How are you going to leverage that for something greater? I have a family. We want you to do that. Build a career.

Fall in love with a great guy. Fall in love with an amazing lady. Have a family. We want that for you. Manage your money well. Tackle, tumble, whatever you do, just do it with a greater why. I've been saying it this way, you know, for so many years in my life.

I asked the question, "What is God's will for my life?" And then it hit me. Who cares? It's about whatever. So the question isn't, "What is your will for my life?" The statement is my life for your will. Because I know what your will is. Your will is that every kid in my school comes to know Jesus.

Your will is that everybody in our town experiences revival. Your will is that the poor are lifted. Your will is that the marginalized are cared for. Your will is that the church is built. Your will is that all people on earth hear the story of Jesus, his grace and mercy.

I already know what your will is. So, I'm not stressing over what's your will for my life. I'm telling you, is my life for your will to I I don't know the questions. I don't know the timing. I'm just telling you right here at movement 25, the answer is yes to you, God.

Whatever you want and whenever you knock, the answer is already on the table. It is my life for your will. He traded his glory. Philippians 2 for you. Tonight's about you and me waking up and going, you already gave your glory for me. Tonight, I want to offer me for your glory. my life for your glory.

You know, the enemy is uh in some of your heads right now because he's convinced you that you're not good enough, you're not pretty enough, you didn't come from the right family, you've had a terrible childhood, adolescence, a lot of terrible stuff has been in the story. You're not the fastest or the smartest or the best.

You've got this issue and that issue and struggling with that. You're struggling with this and the enemy's gotten in there and he said, "You know what? This whole thing, this whole message, you can just forget about all that cuz you're never going to do anything that really matters."

And I'm telling you in the name of Jesus, the power of the blood of Jesus in this place tonight just wants to break that lie in half and say to you, it is not about your strength. It's about his strength in you. And God uses broken vessels to do beautiful things.

And God has got a plan for you and a destiny for you and a purpose for you. He has got a plan for you. He is going to come knocking on your door. And you may not even hear him knocking because you're going, "You're not knocking on my door because you know, I'm struggling with that and I've never been good at that and I've never really believed in myself and my parents never really believed in me and I don't really have that many good friends even that believe in me.

So surely you're not knocking on my door." He's saying, "Oh no, I believed in you from the moment I knit you together in your mother's womb. And I've got a purpose and a plan for you tonight. You don't have to worry about 20 years from now. You just have to worry about getting as close to Jesus as you can, staying as much in his word as you can, learning to hear his voice as much as you can, and walking with him through every single day of your life.

Grow in your faith, get stronger in your relationship with Jesus. And you're going to be shocked that one day, probably like me, because I it's almost fair to say whatever you're thinking you're going to be doing in your life, it ain't going to be that. He's going to go, "Ah, that's good thought."

But what about this? Woo! And you're like, "Oh my word, didn't see that coming." Cuz what did Sean say last night? I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. I want to speak that over you tonight. I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. not to harm you, but to prosper you and to give you a hope and a future.

Jesus, thank you tonight that you traded the glory of heaven for every single person on this field. release us tonight to do the simple math and just to say my response to that is to give my life not for my name, my fame, my glory, but to give it for you.
