The Secret To Green Leaves | Pastor Joel Tudman | Forward City Church
Transcript
Hey family, thank you so much for tuning in this week for City's message. We are in a series that we're calling Planted on Purpose Pop. And today I have one of my favorite preachers, one of my great friends, my big brother, Pastor Joe Tutman is in the building, a phenomenal word from God called the secret to green leaves.
This whole message is loaded. Grab your Bibles, turn to the book of Jeremiah, get your notebooks out. Do me a favor, like, share, subscribe, but tell everybody this is a word that's going to help change the life to remain planted on purpose. I love you. I'll see you later.
And the people of God, come on, shout hallelujah. ((music playing)) Come on, shout it. Don't say it. Shout hallelujah. Come on. Come on. Come on. You can do better ((music playing)) than that. One more time from your core. Shout hallelujah. >> ((music playing)) >> I want you to just grab one person real quick, one person, and hear me stay tapped in the spirit.
One thing I love about your church is that your pastor is led by the spirit. And I want you to look at one person and ask them one simple question. Wait for the response. So, what can I pray for? Once they tell you, then you pray for them out loud for 90 seconds with fire.
Now ask. Once they respond, go to work. Let's go. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Open your mouth and pray. Not in silence. That's it. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. That's it. Come on.
Come on. Come on. Go somewhere else. That's it. Come on. 60 seconds. 60 seconds. 60 seconds. That's it. That's it. That's it. Come on. Come on. Come on. 30 seconds. Oh, you pray for me. I pray for you. 20 seconds. You pray for me. I pray for you. 10 seconds.
W [screaming] 5 seconds of prayer. >> Now, if you believe what you prayed for, turn that hand to loose and praise him with your brother and sister, but hold on to the praise. Hold on to it. Hold it for 10 seconds. Push it out your chest. Make hell mad about it.
This is the day that the Lord has made. ((music playing)) We will rejoice and be glad. Come on. Come on. Oh, magnify ((music playing)) the Lord with me. Let us us [screaming] us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us us. Come on.
((music playing)) God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. >> I hear the spirit of the Lord saying, "If you will just express yourself without worry for the next 30 seconds, ((cheering)) he's going to give you a peace that surpasses all understanding. to not worry about it. Don't worry about what you look like. Just push past what you feel.
There's a breakthrough going to hit you right where you are. ((applause)) Come on. Come on. Come on. Hold on to that. Hold on to that. Push past that. Push into the spirit. Hear ye what the spirit of the Lord has to say unto the church. Anamande. Glory to God.
Glory to God. Glory to God. Glory to God. Glory to God. Glory to God. Glory. Glory to God. Hallelujah. >> Father, we thank you >> for your spirit. Touch that sister that's struggling in the back left of the auditorium. I can see her as clear as day. Whether or not she should be here or not, she should be here. >> Yes, God. >> She's supposed to be here.
((applause)) and we fight off every attack that's coming against her mentally. >> We bind the spirit of suicide. We break it now in the name of Jesus. You have the life that wins >> and we speak the winning life into your life right now. Every brother that doesn't think he's worth it, you have the life that wins.
And we speak those things as not as though they already are in Jesus name. And we give you praise. Somebody shout hallelujah. Well, I love your pastors. Can you bless God for them? They are amazing people. ((cheering)) ((applause)) They allowed us to come. We uh we put a new book out and he allowed us to come uh on a book tour and we sold all the books and uh so we didn't get to bring any books and uh but he still allowed me to be here anyway and I honor the two of them.
They are very powerful people. Uh my wife and I went through a very tough time and they called us and said, "Hey, we're coming to see you and flew down, hung with us to just chill, do nothing." And we are so grateful for people like these people right here.
These are the type of friends, loved ones. This is why they're so blessed. And this is why you're so blessed because you sent under royalty. Praise God for your priest. Praise God for your king and queen. ((applause)) ((music playing)) >> To his entire staff, the hospitality, everybody. They got You guys have one of the baddest preaching teams in the country.
And you ought to be excited about it. Amen. ((applause)) I want to go to Jeremiah 17. And I want to honor the thing that our pastors are in because they told me that we were planted on purpose. >> See, I caught y'all off guard. You wasn't ready to hit me back with it.
We planted on purpose. >> I want to go to Jeremiah 17. Let us examine this text that you know very, very well. This is what the Lord says. Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.
Watch what he says. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert with no hope for the future. They will live in barren wilderness. In the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. Now verse seven is the one we all like. But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. >> Their leaves stay green. Glory to God. >> And they never stop from producing fruit. >> The human heart is the most deceitful of all things and desperately wicked.
Who really knows how bad it is to end? But I the Lord search all hearts and examine secret motives. >> I give all people their due rewards according to what their actions deserve. >> That's a good scripture. >> However, I do want to look at one thought based off of what you've been teaching.
He says, "Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought."
Right here, their leaves stay green. >> I want you to look at somebody and tell them, "I have the secret. to green leaves. >> Be seated. >> I want to talk about the secret to green leaves. But what is a secret? It is information that is kept from others.
It serves a purpose for those that know. Now, I asked y'all's pastor for a freestyle mic. what do you call it? A hands-free mic cuz he preaches with these and he cuffs the mic and then somewhere in 10 minutes between the message then y'all start chatting and start singing and then everything gets disruptive.
So I wanted to just have like the lecture mic so I could stay in control. So I'm more than likely going to lose control. All right. I'm going to lose control cuz I can't help myself with these things. So pray for me that I stay under control. Somebody shout hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. >> So secrets they are intentional interpersonal.
That's an intentional interpersonal dynamic that builds intimacy. That's what a secret is. It's an intentional interpersonal dynamic that builds intimacy. It builds trust. It works with significance. They are about privacy and they are relational. Now, most of the time secrets get a bad rap. People think that secrets are inherently evil.
That is not true. It's just private information. What makes it evil is who sharing the secret and the spirit behind the secret. But all of us have worked secrets. And that does not make you a bad person because of the secret. some situations, yes, but not everyone. Jesus kept several secrets in scripture, which when we watch him and we look at him, most of the time he would give instructions to his disciples or if he healed somebody, he would tell them, "Sh, make sure you don't tell them who did this."
He kept secrets. sometimes the very miracle that was a gamecher he would tell them sh don't tell anybody because he did not want a misunderstanding he didn't want anybody to misuse or misrepresent the mission these included telling disciples not to reveal that he was the messiah don't tell anybody who I am until after the resurrection he had commanded people that he healed that he helped that he fed that he raised won't tell anybody.
He held secrets. But what's even more interesting, those of you that study the scriptures, we know that Jesus used parables when he taught. And if you just lean into the parable thinking that the only reason that he taught parables was so that he could make it easy for people to understand, then you actually miss the power in the parable.
The parable was taught, of course, to show something that was difficult and make it a little bit easier, but that was not the sum total of why. Watch it. Let's go to Mark chapter Mark chapter 4. Go to Mark chapter 4 in your Bibles. Mark chapter 4 verse 10 through13.
I want you to see this. And when he was alone, they that were about him with 12 asked of him the parable. And they said unto them, unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God. Look at this now. But unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables, that seeing they may see and not perceive. >> And hearing they may hear and not understand, >> lest at any time they should be what?
Converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. And he said unto them, "Know ye not this parable? And how then will ye know all parables?" This is a mind twist. Why would Jesus come and he's supposed to be saving all of us but talking cold? >> Why would he not want everybody to hear what he has to say? >> Because God is not interested in just talking to be talking. >> Got no help in here right now.
So he speaks in parables for those that are actually seeking him because those that have the parables are saying I need to know more. Explain to me what you're talking about. So they would follow Jesus and say Jesus help me to understand what you just said. This would show Jesus you are worth my time because you're not here for fish and chips and loaves of bread.
You want to go deeper into what I'm talking about. So when you hear me speak, you are saying, "Let me seek after you. Let me seek after what you're saying. Let me seek after what you're trying to do in my life." SO HE SAYS, "THOSE OF you that are just hearing, of course, you will never understand."
So that is how you can invite your little boyfriend to church. You be full of the Holy Ghost. You hear what God's saying and he doesn't. ((cheering)) >> Or vice versa. You came to church as a brother. YOU HEARD WHAT GOD SAID. SHE AIN'T HEARD NOTHING. But there's also another reason why you didn't hear. >> Are y'all okay with this kind of teaching?
There is another reason why we don't hear and that reason is because the text tells us in second Corinthians 4 and4. You don't have this one but if you can go grab it I think it's worth the hearers attention. 2 Corinthians 4 and 4. Go grab it in your Bibles.
SATAN WHO IS THE GOD OF THIS world has blinded the mind of those who don't believe. >> They are unable to see the glorious light of the good news. >> They don't understand this message about the glory of Christ who is the exact likeness of God. >> So there's two reasons.
Number one, you're not tapped into God enough to catch the revelation of what he's saying. Or two, you've already let us know you're on Satan's side because you can't even process the Holy Ghost. YOU CAN'T STAND POWER. YOU CAN'T STAND WORSHIP. But you come to church and AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT BECAUSE YOU'VE BEEN BLINDED BY THE GOD [screaming] OF THIS WORLD. >> Can't get no help in this church right now.
So, how do we move forward in the kingdom when we're allowing Satan to sift our attention, >> sift our minds, or we're not tapped in enough into what the Lord is saying from our leaders, from what's happening in our church to even want to seek deeper to see what IS IT THAT GOD ACTUALLY wants from me in this season of my life. >> Now, here's what's happening in the text.
When you look at Jeremiah, this is a potent text, but the issue with this text is understanding what is happening during the time. You've got a powerful prophet by the name of Jeremiah who is prophesying during a difficult time. And while he's prophesying, he's known as the weeping prophet.
He's crying because his message is so hard. And his message is just as hard as the people's hearts that's trying to receive it. >> So every time he says something that he's trying to get to them, they can't get to it because their heart is stoning. But when you look at the scriptures and you open up what happens in the first verse, I want you to go to it.
Jeremiah 17 and one, go look at it. When you look at the first verse, it says, "The sin of Judah is inscribed with iron chiseled." Look at that. With an iron chiseled, engraved with a diamond point on their what? Stony hearts. THE HORN IS SO stony that it has to be chiseled with iron.
Look at it. But watch this. and on the corners of their altars, their worship experience and their heart match. >> Are y'all still here with me? >> But look at this. This represents God's people. These aren't people that are lost. These are God's people. These are God's people that already know him as Yahweh.
They already know him to be God, but they have taken and chiseled sin into the heart WHERE GOD IS SUPPOSED TO BE. >> THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU JUST SHOW UP OVER AND over and don't give up. >> Got no help in here right now. >> When you show up and I and listen to me, we want you to show up.
We want you to keep coming. But if you don't seek the Lord, why he may be found? >> What is being stamped in your heart, >> you can't forgive. The whole story is stamped in your heart. You can't move forward. We see your story coming because it's chiseled into your stony heart.
Your songs are stony. The way you worship is stony. The way you talk is stony. We can hear the frustration in YOUR CONVERSATION. WE KNOW WHEN YOU SHOW UP, WHEN YOU ANSWER THE PHONE, HOW YOU TEXT, EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU, CHISELED, but go to verse two. Put it up for me.
Verse two. Here we go. Even their children go to worship at their pagan altars and usher up beneath every what? Green tree. And on what? Every hill. See, here's what's significance. Pay attention to this. When something gets stamped into your heart, your children can pick it up easy. >> You don't have to open your mouth.
You have become a walking tomb that is visible to show them how frustrated you really are. So they pick up your language because it's chiseled in your heart and from the heart the mouth will speak. >> So your children learn worship from your stones. They learn how to process language from how you have stamped ((applause)) and you think they don't know the difference. >> Pay attention to the text.
These are God's people, >> but yet they are now flirting with another God >> because their stony heart won't allow them to feel what God is trying to do in their life. So when their heart is stony, notice the text says they have the god of Echer, the goddess of Echer.
This is a cultic Canaanite god, a goddess that now they're flirting with. And what's interesting about this is that it is considered a pole that is cut out of a tree. And they have placed this cutout pole that they've carved out of a tree and placed it at THE ALTAR OF YAHWEH.
SO IN OTHER WORDS, NOW THEY'RE doing mixed worship. They've got her and him together. When the scripture tells us there shall be no other God. >> BUT WHEN YOUR HEART HAS BEEN CHISELED, you don't feel conviction. YOU DON'T FEEL WHAT'S WRONG. YOU DO WHAT'S RIGHT IN YOUR OWN EYES.
YOU NOT TOUCHED BY WHAT GOD IS TRYING TO DO IN YOUR LIFE. SO YOU WALK AROUND HARD. YOU SING HARD, YOU PREACH HARD, YOU BEFRIEND HARD, AND YOU CANNOT FEEL THE PRESENCE of God. >> And so what happens when you can't feel the presence of God? Then you have to deal with what the text opens up with, which is what we skip.
We start at seven because we want the blessing. stones, stony hearts don't get blessings. >> But I think a problem, pastor, >> is that you actually read the same Bible that wants the blessing, >> but you don't think the curse exists. The same Bible that has the blessing in it is the same Bible that has the curse in it. >> How do you skip the curse and take the blessing? >> You can't take the blessing if you're already cursed.
First of all, you need to get rid of the curse so you can get the blessing. ((cheering)) >> But the curse CAME BECAUSE YOU WON'T SURRENDER. THE CURSE DIDN'T COME CUZ HE'S A CUZ HE'S A CUZ HE'S HE'S sitting up watching YOU TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF YOU NAUGHTY OR NICE LIKE LIKE SANTA CLAUS.
THAT'S GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THE CURSE CAME CUZ YOU WON'T PRAISE HIM ON YOUR OWN. >> THE CURSE CAME CUZ YOU NEED SOMEBODY TO FORCE you to give him glory. force you to fast, FORCE YOU TO COMMIT, FORCE YOU TO SAY YES, FORCE YOU TO GO TO REVIVAL, FORCE YOU TO JOIN THE CHURCH, FORCE YOU, AND GOD SAID, "I'M NOT FORCING YOU TO DO NOTHING.
IF YOU CAN'T SEEK ME ON YOUR OWN, ENJOY THE CURSE." ((cheering)) ((applause)) Look at somebody AND TELL THEM, "ENJOY IT. ENJOY IT." NOW, IF YOU SAVED, YOU SHOULD SAY, "THE DEVIL IS A LIE." >> Fix this mic for me, sound man. I need some punch in it. >> He says the curse.
Somebody shout the curse. >> The curse. >> Curse. The curse. The curse. Write this down in your notes. Green leaves >> don't come from cursed trees. >> Green leaves, they don't come from cursed trees. Why don't we believe in the curse? >> The curse is opposite of the blessing. >> But what you got to understand is because we're so New Testament driven and there's nothing wrong with it.
We've got one response. He became a curse. Correct? That is absolutely true. This is New Testament. Okay, we're in the Old Testament. What's happening here in this text? This is pre-rucifixion. This is prefinished work. So with this being prefinished work, there is no answer. Jesus has not died yet. >> So while they're sitting in this position, God is looking at them trying to figure out what else do I got to do for you >> for you to recognize that I'm for you. >> I've pulled you out.
I've made a way >> out of now way >> over and over and over and over and over again. So the easiest way for us to look at the curse not as hocus pocus but as the absence of God, >> THE ABSENCE OF THE HAND OF GOD. >> So you don't you can sit up and say, "Well, I don't believe in no curse all YOU WANT."
THAT'S FINE. WELL, IF YOU DON'T IF YOU'RE NOT ACCEPTING WHAT GOD IS doing in your life, my brother, MY SISTER, THAT IS A CURSE. >> If you don't want the supernatural TO WORK IN YOUR LIFE, MY BROTHER, THAT IS A CURSE. WAIT A MINUTE, JOEL. GO TO VERSE, what's the first verse we went to?
Verse, verse five. Go back to verse five. Go back to verse five. And let me show you the damage. Let me show you the damage of the human psyche. This is what the Lord says. CURSED ARE THOSE WHO PUT THEIR WHAT? >> TRUST >> WHERE? >> If you trust him or her more than you trust God, that is a curse.
((cheering)) ((applause)) >> You don't have the capacity TO DEPEND ON GOD. AND YOU HAVE MORE STRENGTH AND MORE DEPENDENCY on your best friend, on your girl, on your grandmother. I KNOW IT SEEMS NORMAL, BUT BABY, YOU AIN'T NORMAL. YOU'RE SUPER NORMAL. YOU NEED A SUPER GOD FOR WHAT YOU'RE GOING THROUGH.
((applause)) >> Are y'all still here with me? Put the scripture back up there. >> The dependency on brother. Look at what he says. We rely on human strength, >> as strong as you are and as much as you work out, >> as powerful as you are, as many fat burners as you take, and protein shakes that you drink, >> none of that will whip the devil.
Cuz our weapons of our warfare are not carnal, for they are mighty through from THE PULLING DOWN OF STRONGHOLD. SO IF YOU'RE NOT TAPPED INTO the spirit, THE CURSE DOES NOT PROVIDE YOU WITH THE NECESSITY TO FIGHT IN THE SPIRIT. YOU NEED POWER. WISH I HAD A WITNESS HERE.
NOT A PROTEIN SHAKE. YOU NEED THE HOLY GHOST. Sound man. Give me some punch. Give me something up here. I need something. I need something else. LOOK AT SOMEBODY AND TELL THEM YOU NEED POWER. [screaming] >> The curse is just simply opposite of the blessing. Old testament approach. It is spoken for the sake of justice.
So this is why you got to hear it. If a curse is released, it is not about witches and warlocks. It is about the sake of justice among the Hebrews. This was this is what made the curse valid because it's within a covenant framework overseen by God. So if God releases the curse, doesn't matter what you believe, >> you're going to have to be a recipient of what he releases in the earth. >> So the best thing you can do is come up out of your flesh >> and tap into the spirit. >> And the minute you tap into the spirit, you are going to be able to withstand the ws of the devil.
Now, what I want you to do is look at somebody on your row. And if you got somebody that's got an inkling of the Holy Ghost, I didn't say a whole lot. I just said an inkling, just nudge them and ask them, "Do you got an [laughter] inkling?" And the reason, the way you know they got an inkling, cuz I'm old school.
You feel a quick a quickening every now and then. Nobody got to say nothing. You just gloryed. Hallelujah. You didn't hear no music. You just thought about how good he is. You you look back over your own life and how my shat I didn't have the language to speak because he gave me joy, unspeakable joy.
The scripture says it's full of glory. I want you to grab a neighbor by the hand and tell that neighbor, tell them neighbor, tell them I'm full of joy. Now, if that neighbor don't respond to you, push that neighbor away and TELL THEM, "YOU AIN'T GOT NO JOY."
Tell them, "Because when I touched you, the stone should have fell off your heart." GLORY TO GOD. GRAB SOMEBODY AND TELL THEM, "I [screaming] LOVE THE LORD." Be seated. >> Be seated, please. >> ((cheering)) ((applause)) ((cheering)) ((applause)) >> I see I felt that quickening right there. Cuz when you got power when so you get happy cuz somebody else got happy.
That's how you know you got real power. You glory to God. What we praising him for? I wish I had a witness in here. I don't NEED TO HEAR ABOUT IT. YOU JUST LOOK GLAD. OH, MAGNIFY THE LORD. LOOK AT SOMEBODY. TELL THEM, "DO IT WITH ME. DO IT WITH ME.
DO IT WITH ME. PRAISE HIM WITH ME. Scream with me. Holler with me. Shout with me. ((music playing)) >> ((cheering)) ((applause)) >> Be seated please. ((cheering)) ((cheering)) Sound good. Sound ((music playing)) man. Just you almost there. Now put that organ in the monitors and we going to be all right. Somebody shout hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. ((cheering)) >> So the question is >> yes Lord. be seated pastors.
((cheering)) >> So the question becomes, >> are you breaking the covenant? And you're not going to have a sense or not if Satan has blinded your mind. >> So you will operate in broken framework >> thinking you're right >> and you're all wrong. >> And when it's time for you to be corrected, >> you are insulted. because correction culture doesn't even touch you >> because you're blind.
So these types of series that your pastor is putting on is to take the Holy Ghost chisel >> and bust open every scarred piece of tissue >> that has been sitting in your heart all year long. And even though we may have ran and praised God and flipped and roved in the altar, you can still do it all with a stony heart. >> You can praise God and still not speak to your wife. >> Praise God and still not talk to your brother. >> But tell somebody, "We breaking it up today.
We breaking it up. We breaking it up. We breaking it up. We're breaking it up. We're breaking it up. We're breaking it up. We're breaking it up." They probably don't like it, but that's all right. Tell them we're breaking it up. We're breaking it up. We breaking it up.
You got to say it like a jackhammer. Tell them, "We're breaking it up. We're breaking IT UP." NOW, HOW YOU GOING TO KNOW SOMEBODY NEXT TO YOU FULL OF STONE? CUZ THEY won't even look at you. You know, they won't even look at you. You're trying to talk to them.
We We breaking it up. And they just steady looking for. GRAB THAT CHIN AND TELL THEM, "LOOK AT ME. WE'RE BREAKING IT UP. WE'RE BREAKING IT UP. WE'RE BREAKING IT UP. WE GO. I'M going to break IT TILL YOU SMILE. I'M GOING TO BREAK IT TILL YOU GO HOME SHOWING YOUR TEETH.
I'M GOING TO BREAK IT TILL YOU THROW UP. I'm going to break IT TILL YOUR HAIR COME OUT. WE GONNA BREAK IT UP. ((applause)) ((cheering)) SLAP SOMEBODY AND SHOUT HALLELUJAH. >> HALLELUJAH. >> 12 minutes. The >> the intoxication the intoxication of self >> won't allow you to see that your trust in self is a curse.
When you become intoxicated with your skill, >> intoxicated with your wealth, >> intoxicated with your looks, >> you spend more time on those than you actually do learning to depend on God. >> Uhhuh. >> So if you evaluate your schedule, your body gets more of your time, your face gets more of your time, your hair gets more of your time.
Come on. Your friendship gets more of your time. Your food gets more of your time. And by the end of the day, you giving God seven minutes of your time. No wonder you can't fight nothing. No wonder you won't commit to nobody. No wonder you're struggling. And then you full of frustration cuz that heart, >> the intoxication of self. >> You you you you are human. >> And sometimes it may not be someone else. >> You trust in you >> more than you trust in God.
I wish I had a witness in here. >> I came in here today to break that off you this morning. >> You're going to learn how to put your trust in God. >> If it's the last thing our pastor's going to do, you're going to shift from you and shift into him.
And the minute you do it, you're about to see something about yourself that you've never discovered in your life. Why does that matter? Because when you're at your weakest, that is when he's at his best. Because now you are out of control. You don't have the power to say anything.
So anything that comes out of your mouth has to be God. Have I got a witness in here? I got about 10 minutes left. But I want you to grab somebody by the hand and look at that neighbor in the face and tell them neighbor. Don't put no music on it yet.
Turn that window loose cuz they ain't they ain't having no church. Grab somebody else and tell them neighbor. Tell them I need you to know that God's about to do something. And tell them if you can't catch it today, don't try to catch me tomorrow. Because what God has for me, >> I'm not sharing it with nobody that can't catch THE REVELATION.
TELL THAT NEIGHBOR I [screaming] am. [applause and cheering] Y'all ain't having no church in here. You got TO SAY IT LIKE I SAID. OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND SAY, "I [screaming] I am a living testimony." TELL THEM I COULD HAVE BEEN dead [screaming] and I could have been gone, BUT THE LORD, [screaming] y'all ain't preaching here.
I don't CARE IF YOU'RE GEN X. I don't care if you a baby boomer. I don't care if you're Gen Z. I'm anointing you to preach this morning. Put your hand on your face and say, "I am on THE LORD'S SIDE." TELL THEM, "I'M MIGHTY GLAD. [screaming] [applause and cheering] YES, I AM.
I'M PREACHING LIKE THAT FOR YOU. HAVE I GOT a witness here?" Tell your neighbor, "We don't need no music. We going to do it old school. Have I got a witness here? Grab you a neighbor one more time and let's DO IT LIKE THE BAPTIST CHURCH. SHAKE THEM AND ROCK THEM.
Rock them AND SHAKE THEM. SHAKE THEM AND RACK THEM AND ROCK THEM AND SHAKE THEM AND TELL THEM JESUS [screaming] ((cheering)) IS ON MY SIDE AND I AM MIGHTY GLAD ABOUT IT. SOMEBODY SAY [screaming] ((cheering)) YEAH. ((cheering)) ((applause)) LISTEN, ((applause)) ((cheering)) ((cheering)) LORD. ((cheering)) >> I got to at least give you this and then we bring in our pastor.
Hallelujah. >> When we look >> and we examine the secret to the green leaves, we've already said once, the green leaves don't come from cursed trees. >> And number two, and we'll leave it, I'll finish it later. Their roots grow down into God by decision, >> not by design.
See the difference between you >> and a planted seed. >> Gravity pulls it, >> forces it down. And if it's in the right temperature with the right light, itself will burst in germination go down and anchor itself by design. Gravity does it. >> Yeah. But you it's different because if you have more trust in you, >> you have to break the trusting relationship with yourself first. >> So then it is a decision >> to grow down into God. >> This is how God knows >> that you want him >> because you divorce yourself.
Once you divorce yourself, then God knows this man, this woman wants me that bad that they will walk away from themselves >> to chase after me. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his. And then what GOD DOES WHEN GOD sees that you HAVE PLACED HIM AS your desire, >> then God says, "Now let me go get the desires that you were tied to first >> because now you've replaced them with me."
And he goes after the things that are in line with the relationship. DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE Lord >> and he will give you the desires of your heart. >> Now watch it. And now just as you accepted Christ, this is what I got from you guys. Colossians 2 6 and 7.
And now just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, he says you must continue to follow him. Decision, let your roots grow down. That's the text. Colossians 2 6 and 7. Let your roots grow down into him. Then watch what he says. And let your lives be built on him.
So it's not just the hidden part of you. >> It is the exposed as well. >> You said you love him. >> But does your love express on top >> what you said it does beneath? >> You said you love him, >> but we don't see you building on him.
Oh, I wish I had a witness in here. WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING your relationship with >> when you study it? And we're done with it, preacher. Come on. He says clearly to us, depending on what philosopher you study, what scientist you look at, they say when the seed bursts first, it goes down first.
Some scientists disagree and said that there's an initial burst >> where there is a shoot and a root >> that both happen. You just haven't seen it yet. >> One goes down, one comes up. It just takes a little longer for the one that's coming up to be revealed.
And this is the season where what's been coming up is about to be seen. >> You are about to witness one of the greatest seasons of your life because you have the secret of what it means to stay green. And this is your time >> not to turn yellow, not to fade, but you're going to stay green through every season.
And I know the government said it's bad, but God is in control. I wish I had a witness here. If God is in control, you will produce through every season. The good, the bad, the lonely, the sad, the hot, the cold. It doesn't matter what IT IS BECAUSE GOD HAS THE GOVERNMENT ON HIS SHOULDERS.
((cheering)) >> I want you to hold hands with that person that's next to you. You have the secret of what it takes to stay green. It's not a show. It's a seek and you go after him. >> We got just a few minutes where I have the spirit of the Lord commanding you to seek right now. >> You're going to set the tone for the week. >> You're going to seek him right now.
Now, when I count to three, you let loose and you go after him. 1 2 3 right now. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go. Seek him. Seek him. Seek him. Seek him. It's not a hand clap. Get in the spirit. Come on. Go after him. Go after him.
Go after him. Go after him. Go after him. Go after him. Go after him. Go after him. Go after him. Come on. Open your mouth and seek him. That's it. That's it. That's it. That's it. That's it. That's it. That's it. That's it. Seek him. Seek him. God, we're seeking you.
Some of us are broken. Some of us are busted. Some of us are disgusted. Some of us don't have the money. Some of us don't have what we need. Some of us are alone. We don't know what to do. But right now, we're seeking you. We need an answer.
We need a touch. We need your presence. We need a warm embrace. We need to feel you. We need to know what to do. We need an answer. WE JUST WANT YOU RIGHT NOW in the name of Jesus. So, Father, come into this place. Have your way in me.
Have your way in my circumstance. have ((music playing)) your way in my life. I don't know where to go. I don't know who to talk to. So, I choose to talk to you. I choose to lift my hands to you. I choose to seize this moment. I choose to tell you I love you.
I choose to tell you I honor you. I choose to tell you you're ((music playing)) the best thing that ever happened to me, even though I'm AT MY LOWEST SEASON OF my life. So right now, >> I just give myself away. I walk away from being in control. I'm done.
I'm finished. It's in your hands. Yours are better than mine. I'm hungry. I'm thirsty. I'm lonely. But I have you. And Father, I need you right now to fix this void in my life. If you don't do it, it can't be done. And so I break away from my way ((music playing)) and I grab hold to yours.
And in the name of Jesus, I call it done. And it is so in Jesus name. And if you believe it, I want you to high five people and tell them, "It is so." ((music playing)) It is so. It is so. It is so. It is so. It is so.
It is so. Come on, tell ((music playing)) them. Tell them it is so. ((music playing)) It is. Yo, you were warned. What a preaching machine. That guy is loaded. My lord. I hope today you are encouraged, inspired ((music playing)) to move forward in God and to remain planted on purpose. Remember that God has a plan for you.
And I know this next season of your life will be one of the greatest ever. Maybe that's why the attack has been so great concerning you. But you already won. Remain planted and know that God is fighting for you. I love you so much. Remember also to get my friend brand new book called Fighting to Find Yourself.
Make sure you download that. Uh make sure you get the book, purchase it wherever you get your books. and make sure you continue to just grow in your faith and know that God has a plan for you. I love you so much. We'll see you next week as we continue our series, Planet on Purpose.
