God Has a Definite Plan for Your Life - Here’s How You Find It

((music playing)) Do you know that God has a definite plan for your life and future? That is what his word declares. Every one of you that's watching and listening. God has a beautiful plan for your life. And today I want to show you how to find it because it's all in his word.

Wonderful Jesus, I thank you for what you're about to show us through your word. To you be all the glory, honor, and praise. Hallelujah. And God's people said, "Amen and amen, and thank you for being my wonderful family and partner." All right, let's begin with Jeremiah chapter 1.

He said to Jeremiah in verse 5, "Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee. and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. So God has a definite plan for every one of us. Now his plan begins with our salvation.

The moment we are saved, his plan begins to unfold in our life and we discover it slowly. It's a process of discovery. So we have to be careful not to be seeking approval for what we already have made up in our mind we want in our life. We have to wait for the Lord to show us his plan for our life and his will for our life.

So let's go first of all uh and look at some wonderful scriptures. We begin with Romans chapter 12. And of course, this is very familiar, but it's a good one to begin with. Verse two says, "Be not conformed to this world. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

So here it makes it very clear that if our mind is worldly we cannot know it. We must have a spiritual mind. Be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. So our mind must become spiritual and renewed that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

So only a spiritual mind filled with God's word. surrender to the Holy Spirit will know God's plan for your life. So even before we begin, let's make it clear. Only a spiritual mind full of the word of God can know the plan of God for your life and my life.

So it begins at salvation and from there God reveals it slowly as we renew our mind through his word. Now something very important that some people uh want to to move it quickly. Well, haste in fact is dangerous because in Psalm 106 it says something very important about God's permissive will.

You know, God's permissive will happens when people want to see God's plan happen for them quickly. So it says in Psalm 106:E 10, and he saved them from the hand of him that hated them and redeemed them, from the hand of the enemy, and the waters covered their enemies.

There was not one of them. Of course, it speaks of the children of of Israel. Then believe they his word. They sang his praise. Then soon they forgot his works. They waited not for his counsel. They didn't wait for the Lord. Even though they they saw his power.

He brought them out of Egypt. They walked through the Red Sea and so forth. But they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tempted God in the in the desert. And he gave them the request, but sent leanness into their soul. So if if a person is determined to have something that's not good uh and is is not God's will uh they're they're they're going to have great loss.

Why? Because of haste. So God's permissive will is not perfect. It's not what God wants us to have. It's what we want to have and God allows it because of haste. Haste is very dangerous in the Christian life. We need to wait on God's timing. God's plan for our life is revealed progressively.

Everything happens on time. We never should push a door open. Please listen to this statement. Anything you push needs to die. I'll say it again. Anything you push needs to die because when it's God's will, it's going to happen by itself. You don't have to push it. And I'm talking to a lot of young people because a lot of you that are that are watching us, uh, from what I gather, are young people.

I learned that years ago in my life. If you push it, it's not God. God will always bring it to pass. And all he wants you to do is renew your mind. Get to know his word. Renew your life through his word. And God will make his will clear.

He will reveal his plan to your life. And he'll open the doors that need to be opened for your life. So in Isaiah and by the way I hope this is helping someone already because you know a lot of times and I've seen this in my life you know I've been in ministry now over 50 years saved for 54 years and I've seen people who are always rushing to enter into ministry or rushing to do something that was not God's plan for them at the time and brought chaos.

Absolute chaos. I remember one young man wanted to to marry a girl so bad and everybody knew it wasn't God's will except him. He just won't wait. He was married for one month. One month and then divorced because he was rushing when when when when people rush. Well, here's what the Bible says.

Isaiah 28:16. And therefore thus says the Lord God, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious gold stone, a sure foundation. He that believeth shall not make haste. He that believes, he that trusts the Lord will never rush into anything. He that believeth will not make haste.

So when you trust the Lord, you let you let him do it. But when people do not want to trust God, they just want to do it on their own. And it's of course nothing but trouble. So a lady years ago gave me a a scripture I will never for forget.

Her name was Alga. She was from Latvia. Never forget Alga. God bless her. She gave me this beautiful verse back in the 70s that I still remember. Isaiah 52:12. She said, "Bana, I have a verse for you." And she went to my church, our church in in Canada.

This is right after I got saved. And I read this verse back then. For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight, for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your real reward. Ain't that beautiful? And that precious lady is is in heaven today.

But she gave me that verse and amazingly I never have forgotten that beautiful moment in church when she came up and gave me that verse. For ye shall not go out with haste. Just the Lord just spoke to her to come up and give me that verse from Isaiah.

She for ye shall not go out with haste. And this is for somebody right now that needs it. Ye shall not go out with haste nor go by flight. So don't be hasty. Don't rush into that decision you are about to make and make a mess out of it.

For the Lord will go before you and the God of Israel will be your real reward. And that means he'll be even your real God. He will be in front of you and behind you. That's our God. So we have to grow. We have to be mature. And this is so so important.

And you know, if people are living in sin, they'll they'll they'll never know God's God's will. It's just impossible. And that's, you know, from the Psalms. But let me let me just u say a few things here. Only those in Christ can find it because it says so in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, you've got to be walking with the Lord to really find his will and and live in it.

Uh 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says something beautiful to us. It says, "In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus." You'll find God's will in Christ Jesus concerning you. And then, you know, I just showed you uh Romans 12:2, but now let's look at Ephesians 5:17.

We have to find it. We have to look for it. We have to pray for it. So this is the thing we do next. So we let the Lord do it. But we have to be in prayer. So when you read the word, be in prayer. Ask God to show you his will.

And he will. I promise you he will. You know, ask him, "Is this Lord your plan or is it my plan?" So it says, "Wherefore be not unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is." God wants you to know his will. He wants you to understand his will and you need to to ask him for his will.

And so, how does God lead us? Well, in the Bible, it says he leads us in stillness. Do you remember the Psalmist? So, you know, you're saved now. God's will and plan for your life begins to be revealed progressively. You're filling your life and mind with his word.

You're renewing your mind and God begins to show you that good and perfect plan for your life and so forth. But now now you you get to that to that place where God begins to talk to you very clearly, very clearly about that plan in your life and for your life.

And it could come through dreams. It could come through visions. It could come through some gift of the spirit. But it's very important to to to see how God leads us. In Psalm 23:2, it says, "He maketh me to lie down in green pasture. He leadeth me in beside still waters."

So God always leads in stillness. He leads when we're quiet. And uh [clears throat] we begin growing in the Lord. And as we begin growing in the Lord, something beautiful happens. Now we are able to use, I call them our spiritual senses, our spiritual senses. And in Hebrews 5 verse 12, we hear about our spiritual senses.

So it says, "For when for the time you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again, which be the first principles of the oracles of God, and are become such as have need milk and not strong meat. But everyone that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness, and for he's he's a babe. strong meat belongth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exorised to discern both good and evil.

So you come to the place you you you you're growing in the Lord. You're receiving his word. He starts to talk to you in stillness. And now you you begin to develop your spiritual senses. You come to know his voice. You you you begin to hear it clearer and clearer.

Now it's not it's not uh where you're asking, you know, is this God talking? Is it someone else talking? You begin to know the voice of the Lord because now your spiritual sense is growing. So it says by reason of use strong meat belongs to them. Hebrews 5:14 strong meat belongs to them that are of full age have grown in the Lord.

They've developed spiritually. Even those who by reason of use have exercised have their senses exercised. And that word means trained. have your senses trained to discern both good and evil. So, you know, it's been it's been 54 years now I've walked with God and I've learned some amazing things about being led.

Like the majority of times, God leads through circumstance like with, you know, Eleazar. You know, people are always looking for a word. They're wanting a dream. They're wanting a vision. But I love to to to read the word and look for how God led other people. For example, with Eleazar looking for for Rebecca, it says the Lord led him while in the way.

While in the way means he was moving. He was not standing still. And this is very important. This is in Genesis. Of course, you all know the story. And this is a very powerful and very important truth in the Bible. in Genesis 24 when God led Eleazar [cough and clears throat] to find a wife for Isaac.

And while he was looking for for Rebecca, it says the Lord God led him while in the way. Ain't that beautiful? So, he wasn't standing still. He he he wasn't standing still. He was on the move like a car, you know, uh a car you you can turn it while in the way, while you're moving, while you're progressing.

And you will find that in that beautiful chapter uh in Genesis 24. So [clears throat] this is so important. Paul the apostle wanted to go preach the gospel in Asia. the Lord stopped him and then he had a dream about going to Macedonia. So God often leads us like that.

When when I began OC, you know, that's a big decision. Uh the church OC in Orlando, I was speaking to a man named Austin Wilkerson and a wonderful pastor, a friend of mine in Houston, Texas. At the time, the largest church in Houston was was pastored the pastor was Austin, Pastor Austin Wilkerson.

And one day I said, "Pastor, I I I want to begin a church in Orlando. How do I know if it's God's will?" And here's what what he said to me. He said, "Benny, before the River Jordan split, the feet of the priests had to get wet. I'll never forget that.

He said, "Get your feet wet and then God will show you." Ain't that powerful? He said, "Before the Jordan divided for Israel to go come to the promised land, the feet of the priests had to get wet, they had to step in the Jordan River." He said, "You will know God's will if you should do it, but get your feet wet, and if the river splits, you walk right through it.

If it doesn't, go back. And that is powerful. Get your feet wet. Get to know if this is God or not. Jeff Pitman, who still is working with me to to this day as my television producer, he's been with me over 20some years, used to work for Oral Roberts and then for uh Lee Big Ministries.

And then Oral of course because of age did not need him. And then same thing happened with Larry when uh uh things changed with with him and now Jeff is looking for a job. I called him and I'd spoken to Oral and Oral said the best man you can find is Jeff Pitman.

So I called Jeff and Jeff said I'll pray about it. I said Jeff there's nothing to pray about. What are you praying for? The door is open. the door is open because he said, "Well, I'll think and pray about it." I said, "No, there's nothing to pray for.

The door is open. Come in it." And and I said, "Is the door open with Oro?" "No." "Is the door open with Larry?" "No." I said, "This one is open." I said, "Walk in before someone else takes it and the door shuts on you." And he came in.

I said, "That's how you know God's will. You don't have to pray sometimes because it's open. The door is open. You're looking for a job. Door is open. come in that door. And often God will open a door to open other doors for you. And many people that uh worked with us years ago, I said the same thing.

I said, "The door's open." Well, I want to be such and I said, "Well, come through this door. It's open. And God will open another door while you're here." And that's exactly what's happened to so many people today who are in ministry. were in ministry. We used to be on our staff because sometimes that's just the way it happens.

People wait for a word of prophecy. People wait for a vision or a dream. Yet it's so clear before them. Eleazar, the Lord led him while in the way. And the same thing with Paul. He was moving and God said no to Asia now and go to Macedonia.

But a dream was given after he was stopped from going to Asia. And I can give you example after example after example. That's just the way it works. So when people wait for a word from the Lord, well, God sometimes just opens a way for you and it's as clear as sun as as the sunshine.

It's there for you to to come in. I am now in ministry over 50 years. God has led me all the way by meeting people all along the way from the catacombs I met Jim Ptor from Jim I met the Cathol ministry from Katherryn I met Mari Phillips who introduced me to Tommy Reed who introduced me to Ron House who introduced me to my father-in-law Roy and on and on it just continued it never stopped and here I am today sitting here talking to you a door opens and you talk in it.

It's that simple. Now, yes, God does speak also through dreams and visions. He did with me, but these are rare rare. Uh for example, in in in in the gospels, he spoke through a dream to Joseph. Uh he spoke in the book of Acts also through dreams and visions.

But these are rare. Now there are times when God will speak through a clear voice where where you will absolutely hear a clear voice. So let's go to numbers chapter 12 now where we see clearly what the Lord spoke clearly with a clear voice to Moses. And often God will speak to you and to me also but again rarely.

So let's just go back and I'm going to read beginning at verse 6. And he said, "Hear now my words. If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision or will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all my house.

With him will I speak mouthto mouth, even apparently and not in dark speeches. and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold. So here we see clearly that God spoke to Moses oneonone face to face. But the Lord mentions also what he calls the similitudes of the Lord.

So uh let's go and this is another way God speaks. Let's go now to Hosea, the book of Hosea chapter 12. And this is also how God speaks at times. Verse 10, have also spoken by the prophets and have multiplied visions and use similitudes by the ministry of the prophets.

Now this is a very very interesting word here. uh similitudes uh is is what the Bible uh in Hebrew it's the word means likeness manifestations or through an image it's like something you see it becomes really very very real to you so um we are we are led we are led by the Lord after salvation he begins to uh reveal his plan for our life.

We we we have to come into his presence and be still before him to be led. We have to receive the word and renew our minds to hear his voice and know his plan for our life. And now we grow and now our spiritual senses become trained to know the Lord's voice.

And he'll speak at times through dreams and visions like he he did in the book of acts and in the gospels. speak at times through uh just clear voice, a clear voice like with Moses or similitudes through that impression or through that image or a tuma likeness and uh and there are most of the times he just speaks through like with Eleazar circumstances happen just the Lord just opens a way and you know this is his will and you move in it.

But haste is dangerous. Never be hasty when it comes to uh making making uh decisions when it comes to your spiritual life because it's we move very slowly with that very slowly and so Isaiah I showed you earlier don't move with haste or Lord will go before you.

So I think it's very important that that you you know what the Bible says and finally really you know the peace of God will always be there. If the peace of God is in your life then you know you're you're on the right path. If the peace of God is not there don't even move.

Colossians 3:15 is that the peace of God rule in your hearts to the which also you are called one body and be thankful. Now I want to again go back and I want to pray. I want to pray for you that the Lord will really protect you from uh making a hasty decision because I feel in my heart there are people who are about to make hasty harmful decisions.

Isaiah again 28:16. Therefore, thus says the Lord God, behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation. He that believeth shall not make haste. Now remember that when your faith is in Jesus, you'll not rush. And don't forget also Isaiah 52 and verse 12.

Very beautiful verse. You shall not go out with haste nor go by flight for the Lord will go before you and the God of Israel will be your real reward. I want to pray that verse for you right now that the Lord will go before you. So lift your hands to heaven and let's believe together.

And I pray Lord for that one watching and listen that they will not make a hasty decision. For you said in your word you Lord that you will not go out with haste nor go by flight. you you said you'll go before us and you'll surround us.

So in Jesus name Lord lead them guide them let everything happen just on time with perfection in their life with perfection and peace in Jesus mighty name and God's people said amen amen and amen thank you for being with me thank you for listening I pray the Lord would use this to really help you and also bless you and to remind you again and again when You need this uh counsel from the word of God.

But this is also the time to reach the lost and preach the gospel.
