Cleaving Unto The Lord Jesus

Transcript

((music playing)) To whom shall we go Lord? You have the words of life. Peter said to the Lord. And today I want to talk to you about Jesus. You know what a blessed savior we have. What a precious Lord we have. What a privileged people we are to serve him, to love him, to follow him, to know him.

You know, Peter, think about what Peter said about the Lord. To whom shall we go, Lord? To whom shall we go? You have the words of life. When the Lord said, will you also leave me? To whom shall we go? And what did Paul say? He was so joyful to lose everything.

He said for the excellency of the knowledge of the son of God. He said I count all but loss. So he would know the Lord. And in this life, we were not born to know our parents or our brothers and sisters [snorts] or loved ones or friends because eventually they go.

We were born to know the Lord and that's the whole reason for living. That's it. This is a journey. This is a test really. This life is a test. Whom will you choose in this life? Well, I've made my choice and I know you have made your choice.

And maybe somebody sitting listening has not yet made the choice. I pray you'll make your choice today. His name is Jesus and there is no other. And to him and only to him belongs your life, my life. To him belongs all the glory. All the praise, all dominion, all honor, all authority, all the glory belongs to him.

God's people said, "Amen." And amen. >> Lucas is with me to read some wonderful scriptures for you today because I just want to begin by talking about Jesus, the son of God. What a way to begin. That's the best way to begin, right? Yeah. Lord, [clears throat] thank you for your wonderful word.

Thank you, Lord, for what you're about to show us. To you be all the praise, all the glory, all the honor. And Lord, I pray today bless everyone watching, everyone listening. Ignite a new fire in all of us for you. A fire of love, purify our hearts, Lord.

Sanctify our hearts with your presence in your holy name. Amen. And amen. All right. 1,500 years before Moses, that's 1500 years before Moses, God gave an amazing prophecy in Genesis 3:15 when he declared that the seed of the woman would destroy the enemy, Satan. And the seat of the woman is the Lord.

And um I'd like to have uh Lucas read for us uh Psalm 89 beginning at verse three. Just read for us uh verse 3 and 4. >> I have made a covenant with my chosen. I have sworn unto David my servant. Thy seed will I establish forever and build up thy throne to all generations.

Sa. Isn't that beautiful? And salam means think about it, >> right? >> Uh how about uh Psalm 89:34-37? 34-37 of the same Psalm. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that has gone out of my lips. Once have I sworn by my holiness, that I will not lie unto David.

His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the son before me. It shall be established forever as the moon and as a faithful witness in heaven. Say >> that's the Lord. That's the Lord. His seed is the Lord. The seed of David is Jesus. And then in Psalm 132:1, if you don't mind reading that for a moment, >> sir.

The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David. He will not turn from it. Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. Now we see something very remarkable in the genealogies of Matthew and Luke. In the genealogy of Matthew, we see the royal line of the Lord.

In Luke, we see the bloodline of the Lord. >> And God wanted us to see both lines, royal and blood. that to Jesus belongs the throne forever through the royal line of David and the bloodline of David. >> Yeah. >> Which to me is remarkable. So when you read for example Matthew 1 there you see the royal line that came from Solomon and then Joseph.

And then in Luke chapter 3, we see the the bloodline from Nathan to Mary. >> Yeah, >> it's so powerful to see that. And a lot of precious people don't even see it. Some will say, "Oh, it's a mistake." No, no, it's not a mistake. God is giving us something powerful. in in Jeremiah 22 [clears throat] uh there was a king named Jeconiah or they called Koniah. >> Now Jeconiah was a descendant of Solomon.

He came from the land of Solomon and God placed judgment on that man to say no man will sit on his throne from here and forever. Meaning God said that no one from that seed will become king after that in the flesh. >> Yeah. >> The royal line stopped at that moment because it belonged to his son Jesus not to Joniah.

So that's the royal line. And you can read all this in Jeremiah 22. Well, actually, let's just read that for them. Beginning at verse 24 >> 24 >> of Jeremiah. Yeah. 22:24. This is intriguing uh information for you that love the word of God. So, because of sin, because of sin, God placed judgment on that line. >> Right. >> Go ahead.

As I live, sayaeth the Lord, though Konaya the son of Jehoakin, king of Judah, were the signate upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence. And I will give >> Even if he was a ring on my hand, I will remove him. >> Yeah, >> keep going. >> And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. >> So he went to Babylon as a captive, and King Nebuchadnezzar took him.

Keep going. >> And into the hand of the calaldanss, and I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bear thee into another country, where ye were not born, and there shall ye die. But to the land where unto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.

Is this man Kaya a despised, broken idol? Is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? Wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not. He and his seed will be cast out into a land. Keep keep going. >> Oh earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord.

Thus sayaith the Lord. Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days. For no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David and ruling anymore in Judah. >> Which means that the king now will not come from Joseph. Because from Jeconiah came Joseph, >> right? >> And we read that in Matthew 1 verse 12 and verse 16 are clear that it was that line of Solomon where Joseph came out of that line.

The royal line ends with Joseph. >> Yeah. >> Keep going. >> And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah or Kiah begat Salah. >> Okay. So now here he is mentioned in the line of Solomon because it starts with Solomon Rahoboam bean on >> and then in in Matthew 1:16 >> and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ. >> Okay.

So it ends with Jacob the father of Joseph. >> Yeah. >> But no king came out of Joseph >> right >> because he could not be the blood father of the Messiah. Mhm. >> He was the royal lamb, but he was not the blood father of Jesus. >> So then when you go to Luke chapter 3 and you see something amazing in that portion.

All right, let's in fact let's go together. I want to show you something to me that is remarkable. So in Luke chapter 3 and verse 31, we see the name Nathan here rather than Solomon >> because it says it was Nathan that is the father now of the Messiah. >> Yeah.

So which was the son because it starts with it starts with in verse 23 and Jesus himself to be you know began to be about 30 years of age being as supposed the son of Joseph which was the son of Heli. Well Heli was was Mary's father >> right >> not Joseph's father because in Jewish tradition women were never mentioned in a genealogy. >> Yeah. >> Okay.

So it mentions Heli. Well, Heli is the father of Mary. And if you follow that that line, you go right there to verse 31. It says, "Which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David." That's the bloodline. How beautiful it is that God would give us in scripture in scripture both lines of the Messiah.

Royal line, bloodline. Jesus belongs to both. Hallelujah. >> Amen. >> So, he is the seed of the woman. >> That's right. >> Not the seed of the man. >> Because in Genesis 3:15, he's called the seed of the woman. He is the seed the seed of the woman.

Well, if he came from Joseph, he'd be the seed of the man. So when you say the seed of the woman, >> he came from Mary. >> Ain't that powerful? Puts the whole Bible together. So if you really want to know the word of God, follow the seed. >> Follow the Lord.

See what is it. Without him, the Bible would have no meaning. Only when you see Jesus, you can receive the word of God. Okay. So now in in Isaiah 7:14, let's read that for the people, please. Isaiah 7:14, it says what now? >> Isaiah 7:14. Therefore, the Lord himself shall give you a sign.

Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel. >> Now, it fits right perfectly with a virgin >> will bring forth a son. >> Yeah. The seed came from Mary. >> Amazing. >> Her seed God said clearly in Genesis 3. All right.

Now, I'm going to give you 10 most remarkable uh portions of scriptures from the old covenant and show you their fulfillments in the new about the Lord. So, what a way to start the year. >> Yeah. with foundational biblical scriptures that Jesus is the Messiah. >> Amen. >> He is the son of God.

So let's begin. First, of course, I've given you in the past scriptures about his birth from Micah 5. And you can look them up just in case you missed uh uh in the past any of that. Micah 5:E 2, born in Bethlehem. And you see it in the New Testament.

Of course, we just read Isaiah 7:14, that a virgin will conceive and bear a son, call him Emmanuel, God with us. There's also Isaiah 9:6, for unto us a child is born. Unto us a son is given. His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, [clears throat] Everlasting Father. all we see fulfilled in the New Testament.

Now, let me give you 10 here that you can look at and study for yourself that are quite powerful. Okay? Isaiah 53:3 fulfilled in John 11:11. So, let's begin. He is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid as it were our faces from him.

He was despised and we esteemed him not. >> Now let's deful let's see the fulfillment in John 1:11. >> He came unto his own and his own received him not. >> Now I want you to write these down and and share them with your friends. We're beginning the year right with scriptures about Jesus, old and new testament.

He was betrayed in Psalm 41:9 fulfilled in Mark 14:10. Let's look at Psalm 41:9 and the fulfillment in Mark 14:10. >> Yeah. My own familiar friend in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. So Judas betrayed him. He called him there my friend. >> That's amazing.

And now you go to Mark 14:10. And Judas Escariat, one of the 12 went onto the chief priests to betray him unto them. >> Now in Zechariah 11:12, verse 12, it talks about how the Lord was sold. And then we see the fulfillment in Matthew 26:15. These are remarkable prophecies of the Old Testament.

And the chances of them being fulfilled with such detail, humanly impossible. Humanly impossible. There's 2,500 prophecies in the Bible. 2,000 have been fulfilled already. I'm only giving you 10. Okay? And it's to me amazing that these were fulfilled with such detail. >> So Zechariah 11:12, please. >> And I said unto them, if ye think good, give me my price, and if not, forebear.

So they weighed for my price 30 pieces of silver. >> How about Matthew 26 and verse 15? Here's the fulfillment of that same prophecy. >> And said unto them, what will ye give me? and I will deliver him onto you. And they covenanted with him for 30 pieces of silver. >> Imagine such detail. >> Yeah.

Let's go to another prophecy fulfilled so so powerfully. Uh Isaiah chapter 50 verse 6 and we will see the fulfillment in the Gospel of Matthew. In fact also in Mark and Luke. But let's go to Isaiah 50 verse 6. >> I gave my back to the smiters and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair.

I hid not my face from shame and spitting. >> I gave my back to the smiters. Read that again. >> I gave my back to the smiters and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair. I hid not my face from shame and spitting. >> Would you read there, Matthew?

Would you read for them Matthew 27? Give them the verse. Please go ahead. >> Yes. Matthew 27:26. Then released he Barabus unto them. And when he had scorged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. >> Now that word scourged also means to be smitten on the back. >> Yeah.

But the Lord was not just, you know, smitten on the back fulfilling exactly Isaiah 50. I gave my back to those who struck it. Is the Hebrew to those who struck it. Same word used in in in Isaiah. Uh and and then you you see it there in Matthew 27.

But there's other scriptures like for example Mark 14:65 also spoke about the Lord being smitten and in Luke. But let's let's read Mark 14:65. Yeah. And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to buffet him and to say unto him, "Prophesy." And the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands. >> Yeah.

So he was smitten not only with a whip, he was smitten also with the hands of of his enemies. But the fulfillment is so detailed in Isaiah that was fulfilled in Matthew 27. Let's go to Psalm 22 verse 6 7 and 8. So he was rejected number one.

We see the fulfillment in John one. He was betrayed number two. We see it from Psalm 41 fulfilled in in in Mark. Number three, he was sold in Zechariah. Fulfillment is in Matthew 26. He was smitten there. Number four, in Isaiah 50 and then fulfilled in Matthew 27.

Now he's mocked and that's in Psalm 22 verse 67 and 8. fulfilled in Matthew 27 verse 39 and 40. Go ahead. But I am a worm and no man, a reproach of men and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn. They shoot out the lip.

They shake the head, saying, "He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him. Let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him." >> He was mocked. Now, how about uh the fulfillment in Matthew 27 verse 39 and 40. >> And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, and saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself, if thou be the son of God, come down from the cross. >> Number six, he was pierced in his hands and in his feet.

Uh the psalmist talked about this in Psalm 22:16 and we see the fulfillment in John 20:27. So let's read Psalm 22:16 and then fulfilled in John 20 27. >> For dogs have compassed me. The assembly of the wicked have enclosed me. They pierced my hands and my feet.

How about John 20 27? >> Then saith he to Thomas, "Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands, and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side, and be not faithless, but believing." How about Psalm 69 verse 21 fulfilled in John 19:29 when the Lord was given vinegar to drink. >> And it says so clearly in Psalm 69:21 these words, >> they gave me also gall for my meat and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

I >> imagine that David would write such detail. This could not be David. It was fulfilled in Jesus. >> John 19 verse 29. >> Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar and they filled a sponge with vinegar and put it upon hip and put it to his mouth. >> So they gave him vinegar on the cross. >> Yeah. >> Fulfilling Psalm 69:21.

How about Zechariah 12:10 fulfilled in John 19:34 when they pierced his side? That's Zechariah 12 verse 10. And I will pour upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and of supplications. And they shall look upon me whom they have pierced.

And they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. >> One of these days, the Jewish people will recognize Jesus as their Messiah. >> Amen. >> And now fulfilled, it says very clearly in John 19:34, >> "But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forth with came there out blood and water."

And then the ninth prophecy I want to show you is Psalm 22:18 fulfilled in Mark 15:24 where they cast lots. A few weeks ago, we stood right there in a place called behold a man at Chom ran run by the sisters of Zion. You see the very the very spot when that where that happened.

And again that's Psalm 22:18 please. They part my garments among them and cast lots upon my vesture. >> And how about fulfillment in Mark 15:24. >> And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. >> And then he rose from the grave.

He rose from the dead. Number 10. And that is Psalm 16. I like to begin reading with verse 8. And then we're going to see the fulfillment in Matthew 28. >> I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Therefore, my heart is glad and my glory rejoicth. My flesh also shall rest in hope, for thou wilt not leave my soul in hell. Neither wilt thou suffer that holy one to see corruption. And then in Matthew 28 verse 9, you like me to start in verse 6? >> Yeah, start.

Yes, go ahead. >> Matthew 28 verse 6-9. >> Yeah. >> He is not here, for he is risen as he said. Come see the place where the Lord lay and go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. And behold, he goeth before you into Galilee.

There shall ye see him. Lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the supplr with fear and great joy, and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "All hail." And they came and held him by the feet and worshiped him. >> And we see his resurrection in Mark, in Luke, in John repeatedly. >> Yeah. fulfilling not only Psalm 16 but other portions of scriptures in the Old Covenant.

I just gave you enough today just to establish you, just to give you a good beginning of a new year that you can have something to use to minister to your family and friends and neighbors. And I want you to do your own study. Think about 2,500 prophecies in the Bible.

There are no prophecies in other in any other book of any other religion. The Bible has 2500 prophecies. Lord, I thank you for your word. To you belongs the glory, the honor, and the praise now and forever. And God's people said, "Amen. Amen. And amen. Thank you for being with me today and I'll see you tomorrow.

I have a very powerful teaching again tomorrow and I don't want you to miss it. And thank you for your support and your love. And I'm going to ask you again to give to the Lord's work. It says, "Honor the Lord with your substance and the first fruits of all your increase.

So shall your barns be filled with plenty and your presses will burst out with new wine." And and the Bible says there is that who scatters and yet increasth it. And there is that which withholds more than is necessary or right and attends to poverty. And the Bible is clear.

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. So when you focus on the Lord and his gospel and you give to support the Lord's work around the world and to see the gospel preached, God will bless you back.

It says it so clearly. Seek you first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be what? Added. That's God's promise to you. And to honor him with your substance, God says he'll bless you back for it. It's that simple. He that scatters will increase.

He that doesn't scatter will not increase. When we give, we receive. And Lord, as they obey you, bless them. Let this be a great year for them in every way in Jesus wonderful name. And God's people said, "Amen." And amen. And I'll see you tomorrow. >> These are the last days.
