Through The Blood of The Everlasting Covenant
Transcript
((music playing)) Yesterday, Pastor Benny began a powerful message on Hebrews chapter 13. >> God brought again. Again mean he took him to the cross and brought him again from the grave. >> Declaring him >> innocent. These words brought again means God was telling the world, "My son did not die for his sins." >> Now, let's join the capacity audience at King's Dallas Church as Pastor Benny continues this message that will radically transform your understanding of Jesus's sacrifice >> brought again from the dead.
That's so powerful. Amen. >> You see this verse is so powerful. >> [sighs] >> But you have to understand that this same God who punished his son and laid all our iniquities on him. And it said it pleased him to bruise him. The same God in the in Philippians 2 so highly honored his son and rewarded his son.
Can we read Philippians 2:9, please that this same Jesus was exalted? Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him. Jesus went to the lowest place and God lifted him up to the highest place and he fills all in all. Wherefore God also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name that the at the name of the name of Jesus every knee will bow. >> Amen.
And every tongue will confess he's Lord to the glory of God the Father. >> Why? Cuz he went to the lowest place. >> Therefore, he is at the highest place. >> He fills all in all. Somebody say hallelujah. >> [snorts] [sighs] >> I love what Peter said in Acts 2:36.
Let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus whom you have crucified both Lord and Christ. So now the resurrection, we talk about the resurrection as being an act of divine power. More than that, it was a an act of divine justice.
[snorts] divine justice [snorts] because brought again from the dead our Lord was a legal discharge. The resurrection of the Lord was a legal process. >> His death was a legal process because God the judge judged his own son. >> [snorts] >> That's why Jesus, the Bible says, went into prison. It pleased Jehovah to bruise him.
Isaiah 53:10. But now the debt being paid, the penalty of the law been inflicted, justice was satisfied. Wow. Now the God of glory becomes the God of peace. And look at this amazing portion in Isaiah 42. Is this too much for you? >> Oh my my. Look, some of you have been eating meat.
Good. Isaiah 42 19- 21. What an amazing portion there. Go ahead, Jim. >> Who is blind? my servant or death >> as my messenger. >> It talks about the Lord on the on the cross here. Who's planned but my servant? Because on the cross, he did not look or pay attention to who was standing with hostility and anger against him and wicked words coming out of their lips.
It says, "For the joy that was set before him endure the cross." You know, I think a lot of people seem to forget what it says in in Hebrews. I want to read it to you for just a moment, a quick moment while Jim is going to finish up.
Consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners, and that would mean hostility of sinners against himself, lest you be wearied in and faint in your minds. So please go back to Isaiah 42. Who is blind but my servant or deaf as my messenger that I sent? Who is blind as he that is perfect and blind as the Lord's servant?
Keep going, Jim. >> Seeing many things, but thou observest not. Opening the ears, but he heareth not. Now, it's you know what's amazing that these amazing verses here behind us talk about the Lord on the cross not seeing or hearing. He ignored completely what was going on around him.
Why? Verse 21, please. >> The Lord is well pleased. >> Well pleased for his righteousness sake. He will magnify the law and make it honorable. Jesus was fulfilling the law by taking our punishment on the cross. The law now was honorable cuz nobody had obeyed it. We broke, we all broke it.
And by his death, he made it honorable. >> Praise God. >> Praise God. That's why Paul says, "The law is holy and righteous, but who magnified it on the cross?" The son of God. Hallelujah. So, wow. Can we just read quickly, Jim? Isaiah 50:8. [snorts] >> He is near that justifieth me.
Who will contend with me? Let us stand together. Who is mine adversary? Let him come near to me. >> He is near that justifies me. Let's let's understand that by going to First Timothy 3:16. It'll it'll it'll tie it all together for you. Go ahead. >> And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness. >> Aha. of Jesus.
God manifest in the flesh. Watch this. Justified in the spirit. When did that happen? On the cross. God is just in punishing his son and the justifier of him that believes in Jesus. Isn't that what we read in the Bible? So he was justified in the spirit has to do with his death because it says in Isaiah 50:8 one more time put them both together now Isaiah 50:8 >> he is near that justifies >> he's near that justifies me >> who will contend with him >> how did he justify him by raising him from the dead by showing he is sinless Yes.
By bringing him again from the dead. Jesus died, took our penalty, took our punishment. Justice was met. God was pacified. Now all is well. Now God highly exalts him. Philippians 2. And I love what it says in Romans 3 verse 23- 26. Hallelujah. Please Jim. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. >> Keep going. whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are passed through the forbearance of God. >> Verse 26 >> to declare I say at this time his righteousness that he might be just >> just and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus. >> Glory.
Now you know a great question. Isaiah 53:8, who shall declare his generation? This is a very interesting thing. Can we can we can we can we read that, Jim, please? >> 538 is what you >> 53:8. >> Yes. He was taken from prison. >> He was taken from prison >> and from judgment >> and from judgment. >> And who shall declare his generation?
Now this is powerful. You see, it was a legal process. The death and resurrection. Jesus is in prison. He's now taken out of prison. He's raised from the dead now. And the Bible makes it very, very clear. Who shall declare his generation? Who will declare? It reminds us of the sufferings of the Lord.
And it talks about the resurrection. That's marvelous. The importance of the release from prison. He was taken from prison. And it says in verse 8, you know, I love what uh uh Peter said to Jewish leadership in in in Acts 2:23. He said, "With wicked hands, you've crucified him.
You you slew the prince of life, but God raised him from the dead. Look at uh Acts 3:15 also, please, if you don't mind. Write those scriptures down, saints. Kill the prince of life whom God hath raised from the dead. And so who will declare his generation means who will de declare the glory of the resurrection.
Hallelujah. I'm almost I'm almost done, but I've got to talk just a little bit about the blood of the covenant, everlasting covenant. We we need to to to consider this mighty act. Let's let's go to uh Hebrews 13:20 one more time, please. Get ready to get healed, people. >> Get ready to get healed.
Verse 20. Now the God of peace that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting covenant. Let's talk about that a second. The blood of the everlasting covenant. Hebrews 10:29. Jim, >> sore a punishment. Suppose ye shall ye be thought worthy, who hath trotten underfoot the son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant which >> covenant, >> the everlasting covenant has counted what? >> The blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified and a holy thing.
Apostasy departing from the faith does this. It counts the everlasting covenant an unholy thing. How about Hebrews 8:6 and Hebrews 8:8? But now he hath obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of the better covenant. >> What is the better covenant? Everlasting covenant.
How about Hebrews 8:8? >> For finding fault with them, he saith, behold, [clears throat] the days come, sayaeth the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel. >> Ah, new covenant. Which one is it? Everlasting covenant. The Bible says in Colossians 1:18 and in Jesus in all things Christ must have the preeminence which means that God entered into this everlasting covenant before the foundation of the world.
The new covenant happened before the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8. It's the everlasting covenant. When God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit entered into that everlasting covenant where God made full arrangements and provision for the salvation of God's people. And what does this everlasting covenant require?
Repentance, faith, and obedience. Amen. >> That's all. Let's go to Isaiah 55 34 and 5. And I want you to to to to think about something with me once he reads this. >> Incline your ear and come unto me here and your soul shall live. >> Keep going. >> And I will make an everlasting covenant with you.
God is saying that in Isaiah, he'll make an everlasting covenant. That's not the law here. Keep going. >> Even the sure mercies of David. >> The sure mercies of David have to do with the resurrection. Keep going. >> Behold, I have given for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. >> That's the Lord.
Keep going. Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou wouldest not, and the nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the law. >> The Gentiles, you know, people don't understand the difference between grace and law. Watch me. Listen to me. Adam did not know the law. >> He knew he knew grace. >> All God required is faith. >> That's it.
There was no law written for Adam or Noah or Abraham or Isaac or Jacob. >> It was grace. Grace. Why then was the law written? Because the Jewish people rejected grace. They did not believe. It says they did not believe Moses. So it says the law was added. >> Added to what?
Grace. Are you listening? >> There was no book of law for Adam. There was no book of law for Noah. There was no book of law for Abraham. It says Abraham believed in God and God declared him righteous. >> Isaac believed and God declared him righteous. Jacob believed and God declared him righteous.
So the everlasting covenant has to do with the covenant of grace. Grace And that covenant was made between the father, son, and holy spirit before the foundation of the world. >> That those who believe will come into that covenant. >> Hallelujah. >> And three things are required. Faith, repentance, obedience.
Say it. >> Faith, obedience. >> One more time. >> Faith, >> what did Jesus come and say? Repent. faith, repentance. And he said what? Believe the gospel. >> That's what he said. >> Repent and believe the gospel. How simple is that is? And now we come into grace.
And now we come and know the God of peace. Peace with God through faith in Christ Jesus. That's all. And this everlasting covenant is so powerful, so so powerful. And the Lord is called the mediator of this covenant. Mediator. That's so marvelous. And God promised, Jim, would you please start playing real gentle now?
And God promised that through the everlasting covenant that he will raise you from the dead. I want to read for you Zechariah 9:11. Jesus, I give you praise. Through that everlasting ((music playing)) covenant, not only are you forgiven and sanctified, ((music playing)) but one of these days your ((music playing)) own bodies will be raised from the dead.
Yes. >> For it says, "As for thee also," talking to ((music playing)) his son, "by the blood of thy covenant, I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit." Thank God. I've sent forth your prisoners out of ((music playing)) the pit. What is that pit? Where's the water? It's the grave.
Lift your hands and thank God for the resurrection of your ((music playing)) body. As for thee also, God is telling his son, by the blood of thy covenant, I've sent forth thy prisoners, you and I were prisoners one time long ago, out of the pit, the grave, the prison where there's no water. >> ((music playing)) >> By his own blood, he entered into heaven.
[sighs] And by his own blood, we entered into heaven. By his own blood, he entered into heaven. Hebrews 9:12. And by his blood, we enter also into his presence. I love Hebrews 9:12. And I love Hebrews 10:19. ((music playing)) And Hebrews 9:12, neither by the blood of goats or calves, but by his own blood, he entered once into the holy place, having obtained ((music playing)) eternal redemption for us.
But look at Hebrews 10. Look at verse 19. ((music playing)) in heaven. Therefore, brethren, born is to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. And he said, "What? Because I live, you will live also." Stand ((music playing)) up, please. All of you, I live. Lift your hands and tell him, I live.
I live because you are [singing] risen. I live. ((music playing)) I live >> with power over sin. With power for ((music playing)) >> I live. I live. >> I live. [singing] I live >> because you are risen, Lord. >> Because [singing] you are risen. I live I live >> I live I live >> to worship you to worship. >> Thank you ((music playing)) Jesus.
Thank you Jesus. [singing] >> Thank you Jesus [music and singing] because you're alive. Because you're alive. Joshua ((music playing)) because you're our because you're [singing] alive. I [singing] live. >> I pray this blessed teaching from the word of God has blessed your life and strengthened you in the Lord and revealed God's love to you. When we read the scripture, we see God's love for us.
That God Almighty sent his precious son to die on a cruel cross in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago. That our precious Jesus paid for our sins, was punished, chastised to give us peace with God. Think about it. He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, chastised for our peace, and with his stripes we are healed.
What a loving Lord. What a loving God to send his son to die for you and me on a cross. What a wonderful Jesus to say yes and come to earth in flesh and die on a cruel cross. But God raised him from the dead to show the world he is God Almighty.
He is the Messiah. He is the Lord of glory, the great I am. Thank you for watching. I pray that your life will be enriched as you read his word every day. Cleave to the Lord. This is the time to cleave to Jesus to be closer than ever to the Lord.
The world is getting darker and darker. And only Jesus is the light. And when you walk with him, you walk in the light. I want to pray with you. Dear Lord, thank you for your word.
