It Is Impossible to Have the Fruit of the Spirit and Miss Heaven

Transcript

((music playing)) The Lord's going to bless you big time today. This is a glorious day. And to Jesus be all the glory, all the honor, all the praise. And I really mean that. To Jesus and only to Jesus be all the glory, honor, and praise. And God's people said, "Amen."

And amen. You know, I'm taping this for you because I'm on my way to Brazil. In fact, by the time you see this, I'll be already in Brazil. And of course, a great week begins in in S. Paulo and Salvador and Santa Katrina. So, please pray for us as we're there.

But I wanted to finish this beautiful teaching on the supernatural fruit of the Holy Spirit. And so here from the studio, I'm ministering the word of God to you. And I pray the Lord will use this. Remember what I've been saying since Monday. The fruit of the spirit is a one fruit singular with nine graces.

And it's the fruit of Jesus. He's the one who produces that fruit. We are the ones who bear that fruit. And he said to us in John 15:5 that he wants us to bear fruit, much fruit. He also said in John 15:16 that the father will prune our lives when there is fruit.

It is his will that we bear fruit. And the Bible says also says as as I showed you in John 15 that our prayers will be answered as a result of fruit. Now remember something. It is possible to have the gifts and miss heaven. It is impossible impossible to have the fruit of the of the spirit and miss heaven because the Lord says by their fruit you'll know them.

We didn't say by their gifts you'll know them. By their fruit and that's what I'm teaching about. What is a real Christian? A real Christian is one that has the fruit of the spirit. And we've been talking about the fruit of the spirit. And it's very important that we understand on that day when we stand before the Lord, we will be accepted because of the way we lived, we showed the fruit of the spirit in our lives.

And the Bible tells us in Galatians 5, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, and today we continue with goodness. I want to talk about all that. I already explained to you that love is the foundation of every grace of that fruit. Without love, there's no joy. Without love, there's no peace.

Without love, there's no no grace, no no fruit whatsoever. It is the foundation of the fruit of the spirit. So God puts that love in your heart. It shed abroad in our hearts. It says in Romans, by the Holy Spirit, by the Holy Spirit. And the moment you love the Lord, ah, his joy comes and then his peace comes.

Now recall that I also said that a person who wants to see fruit in his life has to be planted properly. Has to be planted properly. And I know we know it, but it's very good to remember what what the psalmist said in Psalm 1 verse three. It says this, "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water."

So for you and I to be planted, we must be planted by the rivers of water. And it talks about who? It talks about the righteous whose delight is in the law of the Lord. In his law he meditate day and night and so on. He'll be like a a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season.

So how are you planted? Are you planted where the Holy Spirit is there and his reality is there in your life and also to be planted right it says in the house of the Lord those who are planted in the house of the Lord Psalm 92:1314 will flourish will flourish so without the fellowship of the saints we are not planted properly I know a lot of people now today don't go to church or they live in church or they don't like what's going You have to be planted in the house of the Lord.

Find somewhere find a place where where Jesus is exalted and worshiped and adored. Find somewhere that you really you really can can be fed the word of God. And and I promise you, you will see the change. You'll see the change in your life. We need the fellowship of the saints.

We must have the fellowship of the saints. It says, "Forsaken not the assembling of yourselves together." Now I want to go on with the fruit. Remember nine graces in one fruit. Love, joy, I dealt with that. Peace, I dealt with that. And longsuffering and gentleness. And remember what I said about longsuffering yesterday.

It's love on trial. That's where where where uh self selfishness is conquered. And and and the Bible tells us that fruit is towards our fellow men. It's what the Lord said to Peter, forgive 70* 7. That's longsuffering. And then gentleness, that healing touch that comes with longsuffering, it's called gentleness.

And the psalmist said in Psalm 18, Lord, your gentleness has made me great. Now, let's go on and because I want to finish the teaching today. Goodness. Now, let's go back. Let's go back to Galatians just in case you missed the teachings Monday and yesterday. Let's look again at the list.

Galatians 5:22. But the fruit, notice singular fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness. I've discussed all that already. Now we come to goodness and faith, meekness, and temperance. And it says against such there is no law. Goodness is love in the noblest behavior in the world.

So goodness is holiness put into practice. When holiness is seen, that's goodness. People see your goodness in holiness. Um let's go together to Romans chapter 15 and verse 14. And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren. Paul writes, that you also are full of goodness, filled, and this is the key now.

He says, filled with all knowledge. That's the word of God, able also to admonish one another. So the way God's goodness now comes through us, holiness into practice basically is what it is is through the word. The knowledge, it says, let's reread that, I myself also, this is Romans 15:14.

Romans 15:14 says, "And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge." So that gift or that fruit, excuse me, comes because of the word of God. And um in Luke 6, let's go to Luke chapter 6 and let's read verse let's read verse 27.

You know I I know you have your Bible with you. Okay. But I say unto you which hear, love your enemies, do good to them which hate you. Think about those words. That's what goodness is. Is it is it possible to love your enemies? Absolutely. But when you love God and you have the fruit of the spirit, longsuffering, you know, you forgive 70* 7 and you love your enemies, do good, it says to them which hate you and that is all the result of the word of God in you.

That's what makes you able to love people that don't love you at all, that attack you. In fact, you feel sorry for them. And the Bible tells us that we are to show goodness at every opportunity. Every opportunity in our life. Because look, Christianity is about love. The love of Jesus.

Not the love of men. The love of Jesus. He is love. Love is a person. Love is a person. His name is Jesus. His name is Jesus. So simple. God is love. It says, right? He is love. Love is not something. Love is someone. Love is not an emotion.

Love is a person. It's a person. In in Galatians, let's let's look at Galatians chapter 6. [coughs] We're going to read verse 10 together. It says, "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." Today, I see a lot of uh anger.

I see a lot of warfare, a lot of hate out there. The way of peace, they know not. It says in Isaiah, and you see that a lot. Oh, yeah. I've talked to people. I've met people that just won't accept peace or love. They they they just won't won't even receive what you have to say to them when you're kind to them.

I met years ago with an enemy who was attacking me all the time. I met with him numerous times. Didn't change the way he felt about me. He still was not that nice and kind at all. Because you know, some people do not worship the Lord. They worship doctrine.

They don't worship Jesus. They worship doctrine. Legalistic. That legalistic spirit. That religious spirit. There's no love there. There's no kindness there. They're just mean. They're mean people. It's mean-spirited. Mean-spirited. They they they will never they will never say I'm sorry. Never say I'm sorry. They will never admit wrong.

Any person with a religious spirit will never say sorry. That's how you know them. You know, a friend of mine, Herold Laduk years ago, lived in Coco Beats, God bless him, he and Maxine were dear friends of mine. He'd say, "Benny, anyone who does not know how to use an eraser is no good."

And something anyone who does not know how to use an eraser is no good. Because people, you know, they they they don't know how to say sorry. They don't know how to say I was wrong. I'm sorry. I should have not have said that or done it because they're always accusing somebody else.

They never take the blame. Never take the blame. It's always somebody else's fault. That spirit exists in the church today. But we as believers, let's do good. It says at every opportunity, even to the enemies who don't like us, they want to talk to us, who are mean, let's do good because God is watching.

God is watching. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. And there are people in the household of faith who are not exactly that nice. Now, most most of them you can win with love.

Absolutely. Some of them only God can deal with those. But you know uh James 4:17 [clears throat] it also talks about this uh very important truth here. But now it says in verse 17, excuse me, uh James 4:17, therefore to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Isn't that something? Therefore to him that knows to do good and doeth it not to him it is sin it says so we have to do good otherwise it's sin before God when we say no I don't want to be you know nice to them so on okay now let's talk about faith faith is the seventh grace one of the graces of the fruit of the spirit I'm not talking here about the gift of faith I'm talking about the fruit of faith Remember, there's the gift of faith and there's the fruit of faith and there's also the measure of faith which comes into the hearts of believers and that grows and develops.

But now we're talking about the fruit of the spirit. The fruit of the spirit faith that faith is imported. And the Bible tells us something powerful about this in Galatians 5. And and that's the difference here. You know it because of one thing in Galatians 5:6 it says for in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avaleth anything nor uncircumcision but faith which workketh by love.

Uh that's the fruit of faith. The gift of faith is imparted. The fruit of faith is produced by love and it's towards the Lord. There's growth in it. See, the gift of faith, there's no growth because it's instant. It comes and goes. Example, when I began in the healing ministry years ago, the gift of faith began to operate in my life.

And and that gift would come with the anointing where I would say to someone, stand up in Jesus' name. and so on or pray for the sick. That's the gift of faith. But the fruit of faith is something totally different. The fruit of faith is produced. It is it is what God gives us.

It is grown. It develops within us because a fruit has growth. The gift doesn't grow. The fruit does. Fruit comes. The gift comes. The gift goes. The gift gets empowered. Yes. But there's no growth in it. The growth is in the fruit. And that fruit grows. It works how?

By love. Love towards the Lord. So this is really really important. And I want to say something that is so so important. This is the faith required for living. For living to to be a real Christian, you need the fruit of faith. This is what gives us access into the presence of God.

Romans 5:2, it says we have access by faith. Access by what? Faith? Not the gift of faith? The fruit of faith. Now let's look at Romans chapter 5 verse two. That's why people, you know, when they pray and they they they cannot come into God's presence because there's no faith.

They can talk but it's going nowhere. When you have the fruit of faith, it brings you into the presence of the Lord. Gives you access. It says, "By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God."

This faith is for living the Christian life. This is not about gifts, the gifts of the spirit. This is about the fruit. So the gift of faith will move mountains. The fruit of faith will move the heart of God. I want to say it again. The gift of faith will move mountains.

The fruit of faith is the only type of faith that moves the heart of God. So someone with the gift of faith, you know what Paul said, if I have the gift of faith and I have no love, I'm nothing. So the fruit of faith moves the heart of God and that's what gives us access.

And so that's why the title for this teaching today was it's possible to have the gift and miss heaven. It's impossible to have the fruit and miss heaven. Think about that. It is possible to have the gift of faith and miss heaven. It is impossible impossible to have the fruit of faith and miss heaven.

And then number number eight, meekness. Meekness. Meekness is a true slaveike submission to the Lord. It is that submissive spirit that's free from rebellion uh flee uh free from pride and uh it's something that Peter talks about in first Peter 3 verse 4. Look what it says. He says there, "But let it be the hidden man of the heart in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit."

Meekness, that's that quiet spirit which is in the presence and the sight of God of great price. That's beautiful. And he talks about, you know, how people should look. And he said, "What God is looking for is that hidden man of the heart. And he's looking for that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit."

Wow. Meekness is not weak in the sense. Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is controlled strength. Weakness is controlled strength. And here in the in the scriptures, gentle is the word in Greek also for meekness. So think about meekness as being total deliverance from self. It's love at its best.

It's love at its most refined state. That is meekness. Says the meek shall inherit the earth. at Psalm 37:11. Just write these down. The meek will inherit the earth. Think about all that God looks for. That's why I tell you, you can have the gifts and miss heaven.

It's possible to have the gifts and miss heaven. It's impossible to have the fruit and miss heaven. Psalm 25:9, the meek will guide with judgment. There's a lot of promises about the meek. In Psalm 149:4, he will beautify the meek with salvation. How how precious. You know, I just said meekness is not weakness.

Jesus the lion has also seen the l like the lamb, right? So meekness is not weakness. And he was meek yet he's the lion. Controlled strength is weakness. Controlled strength is weakness. And finally, temperance. Temperance. Let's go to first Corinthians. I I I really pray that you've been uh enjoying these teachings on the fruit of the spirit.

And I want to ask you to share this with your friends. Just share it with your friends. In verse 25 of 1 Corinthians 9, and every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate or has self-control and that's what it means by the way to be tempered. You know temperance is self-control in all things.

Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown but we an incorruptible. So this this temperance is where we control the flesh. We control our lives. It is uh control over the whole man spirit, soul, body basically. And it says every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things.

Have some self-control in all things. The world, you know, those that uh run to win a crown and those that do sports to win a crown, they do it to obtain a corruptible crown. But we an incorruptible. It says run that you may obtain. Yeah. It says they know you not they which run in a race run all but one receives the prize.

Run that you may obtain. But we have to be it says and every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. And really it comes from knowing the Lord. And then with this I I'm done. But let's read it together. 1 Peter chapter 1 verse 4.

And you know, you may want to go through the whole the whole teaching. I did Monday, yesterday, and today to to see the full picture. But let's read together. Uh so sorry I said first Peter and I meant to say second Peter. So let's go to second Peter chapter 1 beginning at verse 4.

Here's what it says. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside all this, giving all diligence at your faith virtue and to virtue knowledge and to knowledge temperance.

There it is. And to temperance, patience, and to patience godliness, and to goness brotherly kindness, and then love. And if these things be in you and abound, they make you that you will neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Oh Lord, may we all have the fruit of the spirit in Jesus mighty name.

May we all have your fruit. You are the vine. We are the branches. You told us to bear fruit. Lord, help us abide in you that we will bear fruit. And that's so simple. You told us to abide in you. And if we abide in you, the fruit will come.

Without you, we can do nothing, Lord. Without you, there will be no fruit in our life. But with you, there is fruit. And abiding in you, Lord, guarantees heaven. Guarantees a home. with you in glory. We give you the praise, wonderful Jesus. Our greatest desire is that we be not ashamed on that day to be accepted in thy wonderful presence.

For your word declares unto him who able to keep us from falling and to present us faultless without blame before him. To you be all the glory, all the honor and praise. Amen. And amen. because people said amen. So, thank you for being with me. It's time we do exactly what the Bible says.
