Nothing [singing] but the blood of Jesus. ((music playing)) [singing] Oh, take out ((applause)) What a blessing it is to be able to incorporate our special needs ministry into this very special resurrection service. You have just heard from our victorious choir, our special needs ministry that caters to those kids and and ((music playing)) um members that require just additional care and training and development in the area of their spiritual growth. We're so honored, excited that they are part of this ministry as they are able to join us in lifting up the name of Jesus. Well, again, this is Resurrection Sunday. This is a day the Lord has made. We've chosen to rejoice and be glad in it. We are thankful and excited that you are here with us. Today is going to be a powerp ((music playing)) packed day uh preparing for the service, preparing for the message that you and I are going to be hearing. But before we talk about that, we want to hear from ((music playing)) our special needs director, Miss Justy OSA, who has led this phenomenal ((music playing)) choir and continues to lead this ministry in a way that ministers to families in a very special way. ((music playing)) Miss Justy, God bless you. Thank you for joining us today. >> Thank you, pastor. It's a pleasure. It is a blessing to be able to see these kids and and even young adults that are participating in a form of worship. Tell me uh how long did it did it take? How long have you been practicing? How long also have you been involved in the ministry? Good morning. Good morning. >> Morning. >> Yes. >> Yes. Uh I've been part of the ministry for a little over seven years. Our choir started last year and uh we've been practicing for Easter since January. So, it took a lot of work, a lot of dedication, but the students and the parents are committed and uh we always tell them we're not here to perform, we're here to worship. >> Amen. Now, for those that are unaware that we had a special needs ministry, well, thankfully you're aware now. And this is an opportunity for you to pray and get connected to what God is doing to reach every generation to reach every group to to reach every student because we desire that they have an encounter with the Lord. Now, Justy, those that uh have not had a chance to come to this special needs ministry, what can they expect? What is a typical Sunday like and the rotation of what what happens? >> Yeah, absolutely. So our ministry serves uh students as young as four. Our youngest one turned four in December and our eldest student is 80. So we have a wide range of students uh all different abilities and we create a whole church experience for them. So uh they have worship lesson craft engagement uh sensory time. So within a Sunday service they're able to get their own church experience and it's catered to them and their learning needs and so everyone gets a church experience for the whole family. >> Absolutely. Yes. This is an opportunity for the whole family to receive in every bracket, in every segment of life. And so we encourage you to continue to uh join us as we lift up the name of Jesus. But if you ever have the opportunity to come live and in person, ((music playing)) we have a seat waiting ready for you. And if there is a special needs individual within your home with family and friends, we encourage you to come and meet Justy. Her entire staff and team are ready to receive you to ensure that you have a great experience and that the individual family member in your life is is blessed because of the interaction that they have. Miss Justy, thank you again for joining us. God bless you. You look wonderful. Happy resurrection day. Amen. >> Thank you, pastor. Well, our Lord and Savior is alive and well. The tomb is empty. The grave has been defeated. And Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We welcome you to this very special resurrection service. We welcome you to the house of the Lord. We want to know where you're watching from and how we might be able to connect with you. ((music playing)) So, type in the comments below where you're watching from and we encourage you to go to jhm.org org for our live interactive prayer wall, giving us the ability to pray and believe God for the miracles that you are needing in your life. ((music playing)) Our God still answers prayer. Our God is is a miracle worker and there is nothing impossible for our God. And so we desire to connect with you believing the Lord for these miracles. And so this morning, Ross, we welcome you from Canada. Thank you for joining us. uh solid from we want to welcome Linda. Happy resurrection day to you as well. We are highly anticipating this very special service this morning. Uh Michelle watching from North Carolina, [snorts] thank you for being here. It is a blessing to have you join us in the house of the Lord. Now, the way that we are able to accomplish the mission of taking all the gospel to all the world in every generation is through those that faithfully give and serve and pray for this ((music playing)) ministry. And so, we want to encourage you if you would like to give a gift, you can scan the QR code that's on your screen. You can also visit us at sacornerstone.org/give. You can type the word give to 2110-88-2300. You can uh write us at P Box 34930, San Antonio, Texas 78265. God is doing great things here at Cornerstone. We're excited that you've joined us and partnered with us. We especially want to thank our legacy partners, e-members online congregation. ((music playing)) You are helping us take the gospel literally to the nations of the world. And God is smiling upon this ministry. He's smiling upon your efforts because we are seeing success. We are seeing the gospel taken to areas that are remote. But the gospel of Jesus Christ is impacting these areas. Now speaking of impact, on Friday, Good Friday, ((music playing)) we had a very special drama presentation, The Witnesses. This is a play, the eye account of those that saw Jesus and how he was betrayed and uh how he died and resurrected again. We have a couple of cast members ((music playing)) that are going to share with us their experience on how impactful this was and we're excited that they are joining us today. Uh before they come, we want you to know that you can watch this play uninterrupted by going to sacornstone.org/ /easter so that you can be a part of the dynamic play that was shared with us. So this morning we have uh two special guests. I'm going to invite my first guest to come. He has a very unique role. God bless you my friend. >> Bless you. Morning. >> Uh you were part of a fabulous presentation. And we heard raving reviews on this unique playwright, original playwright. Obviously, it's from the Bible. It's not unique in the sense, but there was a spin. There was a a vantage point if you will. Share with us your role and how it impacted your life. >> Absolutely. I think the thing that makes this play original is my my character. My character, Martialis, is a thief. Um, he is ((music playing)) an original creation. Um, and he is kind of your average everyday Roman, but he has one really bad day, makes one really bad decision and it kind of spirals into the story that we watch unfold in ((music playing)) Witnesses. Um, the character was a a fun thing to to get into and ((music playing)) and enjoy and be a part of. Uh, and it was it was a blast to be able to volunteer for the church and uh bring the message to the wonderful people of the church. So, >> absolutely. Thank you for your time and effort. If there was one message from this play that you want people to get out, let's just say that they're not going to have time to watch the play. We hope that they go to sacornstone.org/esteraster so that they can watch it. But if for some reason they don't, what is the message that you want them to walk away with concerning this play? Well, given everything that that we see and are able to observe as Christians, do you feel like you are doing everything you can um to be a witness to everybody around you? Because God shows you all these wonderful things and uh he doesn't just show them to you for you to take in for yourself. It's it is for you, but it is also for everybody. And so to share that with everybody else, uh that is our mission. Uh that is our goal and that is our directive from God. So that is my message to everybody. Do the most that you can with what God has given you. >> This is a positive challenge. The challenge is that for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever would believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life and we should be witnesses of this great gift that we have received and today is a day that we recognize that. God bless you my friend. >> God bless you. >> It was great having you. Thank you so much for being a part of the play. And yet we have one more ((music playing)) cast member that is going to be sharing with us the incredible opportunity that uh God bless you. >> Thank you. >> If we can get that a little bit closer. Absolutely. >> God bless you. >> Yes, sir. Well, thank you for joining us. Uh it is an amazing experience that people were able to be a part of. Share with us your role and how it impacted your life. Well, I was the prisoner and it impacted my life because it it made me understand that sometimes you're stuck and it looks like you're caged and there's there ((music playing)) you're bounded. You're bounded by time and space and the physicality of the world and there's no one there to help you. But God reaches into that space that you're in. And what I learned is that there there's always God. He's always there for you. So powerful. >> Touched me. >> Absolutely. There are physical prisons and there are mental prisons, but he is the chain breaker. His name is Jesus. He's the one that sets free. He's the one that breaks the grip of darkness. Now, what was your favorite part of the play? What impacted you the most as this play was unfolding? Well, I I think what it was, it's the overall idea that that it is a strange world when an emperor can imprison you for expressing love and peace and joy. Um, but what I learned is that there is a relationship with you that you have, ((music playing)) you can have a relationship with God, a restored relationship. And that's ((music playing)) what happened with Martial Alice. I am the prisoner. And we brought Martialis to a place where he was restored to God. >> Amen. Amen. We encourage you to go to sacornstone.org/esteraster org/easter to be able to watch this play uninterrupted and be blessed by those that had such a powerful impact in portraying the eye account of what it was like to see Jesus die on the cross and the impact that has made for humanity. God bless you. God bless you. >> Thank you for joining us. What a blessing it is. We are moments away from resurrection Sunday and we are moments away from lifting up the name of Jesus and we encourage you to join us to be a part of what God is going to use to bless so many people. The sermon today is the reason to rejoice. Our focal text is Matthew 28:es 1-10. Uh gather your family together. Get your favorite cup of coffee. get a comfortable seat as we are going to be taught the word of God and it is going to be a blessing to us all. So Edwin from New Jersey, God bless you. Thank you for joining us today. Uh we welcome those that are watching from Europe, those that are watching from Pakistan, uh South America. David, God bless you all the way. South Texas, uh Alice, Texas, may the Lord bless you. Brenda, thank you for joining us today from Michigan. Yes, he is risen. He is Lord. He has conquered death, hell, and the grave. And what a blessing it is to be able to come to the house of the Lord, even via online, via television, to be able to join together with brothers and sisters that lift up the name that is above every name, the name in which every knee shall bow and ((music playing)) every tongue confess that he is Lord of all. On this special resurrection Sunday, we also would like to remember all of our servicemen and service women that defend our country. Those that are deployed overseas, that watch the walls to ensure that we are ((music playing)) safe, that we are kept. We want to thank you. We salute you. We honor you because of the sacrifice that you are making and believe God to bless you, bring you home safely. At the same time, we want to recognize our first responders, our police force, our firefighters, EMS, doctors, nurses, triage, uh, everyone that serves our community, keeps our city safe. ((music playing)) We are praying safety and blessings over you as you bless the community. Again, we want to welcome you to the house of the Lord. If you have prayer requests, ((music playing)) we want to pray and connect with you via our prayer wall. You can go to jhm.org and visit the prayer wall right now. Type in your prayer request and people literally from around the globe will be able to join believing God for the miracle that you are needing in your life. The the grave is empty. The tomb is empty. Our God is alive. He is well. He is risen from the grave. There is power in the cross and we are asking and believing God. Now today's message is brought to you by our founding pastor actually John Hegy and the message is he is risen. Our focal text will be Luke 24:es 1-7. So ensure that you and your family are prepared to receive a message from our founding pastor John Hegy with the message, He is risen. Listen, spoiler alert, the grave has been robbed. Death, hell, and the grave have been defeated. Our God has conquered. And because he's conquered, you conquer because we live in him. We are sons and daughters of the most high God. And we want you to be ready to receive the He is Risen message from our founding pastor as we receive that today. It's going to be a blessing. Darl, welcome to the house of the Lord from Tennessee. Uh Wendle, may the Lord bless you. We are praying complete healing and deliverance and restoration over the internal workings of uh body aches and pains and discomfort. We are praying that every grip of darkness be broken from your life and that you would experience the healing that only God can provide. We're praying for those that are watching. It says here from Kentucky, God bless you. Welcome to the house of the Lord. Uh Jax, we welcome you. Happy Easter. May the Lord bless you today. And uh the tagline blessed from New York. Yes, we see you and are praying the hand of God over you and your family. As we are getting ready to go into a time of worship, we're getting ready to celebrate what every believer sees and understands as the cornerstone of our faith. And that is yes, Jesus died. Yes, he paid for our sins through the uh penalty of the cross. But yes, he has defeated the grave. He is alive. He is well. He lives. He reigns. He is. He was. And he is coming back soon. And so we are anticipating that you and I will be blessed today because of the work of Jesus Christ. This is the day the Lord has made. We're so honored and thankful that you are part of it. Now, the way that we are able to accomplish the mission of taking all the gospel to all the world in every generation is through those that faithfully give and pray for this ministry. If you would like to give a gift today, we encourage you to scan the QR code that is listed there on your screen. You can also, if you would like, you could visit us at sacornerstone.org/g. Welcome to the house of the Lord. Welcome to Cornerstone Church. We're praying the blessing, the goodness, the favor of God over you in the mighty name of Jesus. We pray and ask God to bless ((music playing)) you and keep you in Jesus' name. Welcome to Cornerstone ((music playing)) Church. Nearly 2,000 years ago, angels stood beside a borrowed ((music playing)) tomb and made a declaration that changed the world. He is not here. He is risen. The greatest ((music playing)) news the world has ever heard is still true today. Jesus Christ, God's son, our savior, is alive, ((music playing)) risen in power, seated at the right hand of God our father in glory. >> Today, ((music playing)) we welcome you to this special service. And wherever you are watching from, we want you to know that our prayer for you today is that you would feel the presence of the risen savior and that his joy, his ((music playing)) peace would fill your heart and your life. We are here to celebrate one unshakable truth. Because he lives, we have ((music playing)) eternal life. Because he conquered death, we live and breathe in victory. >> Jesus said, "I am he who lives and was dead ((music playing)) and am alive forever more. And I have the keys to death in the grave." Church, for all who belong to him, Christ has set us free. ((music playing)) And because you are free and forgiven based on his work at Calvary, we have victory in this life. The risen Savior ((music playing)) is watching over you. He has a purpose for your life, promises for your future, and a hope for every tomorrow. So rejoice with us as we ((music playing)) worship our risen Savior. Every Sunday, we gather to remember who Christ is ((music playing)) and all that he has done. We remember the powerful promises of his word. We remember his mercy, grace, love, and ((music playing)) kindness. >> So, we're so glad that you're here today at Cornerstone Church. Your service is about to begin. ((music playing)) It began with an exchange. Innocence for guilt, silence or surrender. The weight of every wound was lifted onto his shoulders. Nails didn't just pierce his hands. They held the brokenness of the world in place. The lamb was promised long before the blood ((music playing)) was spilled. A sacrifice whispered through generations. The sky grew dark. The earth held ((music playing)) its breath and love paid its highest price. Then came the silence. One day hope sink buried. Two days heaven felt quiet. Three days the grave thought it had won. But death couldn't hold him. ((music playing)) The grave couldn't keep him. The cross didn't finish him. ((music playing)) Because on the third day, the same breath that formed creation filled empty ((music playing)) lungs again. >> Dead things come alive. [singing] Dead come alive. Forgiveness flows from hands [singing] and feet ((music playing)) as violence meets. The prince [singing] of peace. Behold the king and light ((music playing)) in the world. The last day the light ((music playing)) rose [singing] so mighty to save. The ((music playing)) force of love won't be kept [singing] in a grave. This darkness ((music playing)) your hour is over. And ((music playing)) I just ((music playing)) ((music playing)) >> [music and singing] ((music playing)) >> Want to show church, can you lift a shout of victory in this house because our king is alive. Hallelujah. ((music playing)) Church, God bless you. You may see ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> Today we celebrate the greatest victory in history. The stone was rolled away, the ((music playing)) grave was defeated, and Jesus is alive. >> Easter reminds us that death lost its power. Sin lost its hope, ((music playing)) and hope was restored to the world. >> But the cross was not just about forgiveness, and the resurrection was ((music playing)) not just about eternity. Jesus didn't only die to save us. He died to build something eternal. He died for his ((music playing)) church. >> See, the church was never meant to be just a place that you attend. >> The church is a family, ((music playing)) a movement, a mission. And here at Cornerstone, we believe God builds people through his church. >> If today is your first time here, then welcome. You're not here by accident. ((music playing)) See, God brought you here for a reason. Not just to sit in a seat, but to discover your purpose. >> Because every believer is called to grow, to lead, and to make ((music playing)) a difference. That's why we invest in every generation from our kids ministry to the ark, youth, college, marriage, Spanish, and our ((music playing)) special needs ministry. If you are wanting to grow, it happens when we walk together through groups on Wednesday nights and grow with us on Sunday nights. There you can expect to be challenged and supported in your walk with Christ. >> I would like to challenge you. Take the next step. Join a connect ((music playing)) group. Get connected. Serve. Because when you build God's house, God builds something ((music playing)) powerful in you. If you're ready to be connected here at Cornerstone Church, you can fill out one of these ((music playing)) cards located in the back of our sanctuary seats or go to sap cornerstone.org/ I'm ready. Happy resurrection weekend ((music playing)) and welcome to Cornerstone Church. >> Well, ((music playing)) good morning and God bless you on this wonderful resurrection Sunday. If you are thankful to be in the house of the living God and you know Jesus is alive and well, would you give him a hand clap of praise in this place ((applause)) ((applause)) this morning? There are 137 nations and all 50 states that are joining us. We've got Margaret watching in Scotland, Elias in Jerusalem, Joseph in Lebanon. Truly an international audience is here today and we're honored to have them. congregation. Would you make those in our online audience feel welcome here this morning? And I encourage you to find out more about the things that are going to be happening this spring that you can use to minister and grow the faith in your family. Dad, next Sunday, April the 12th, is a pretty important day for you for lots of reasons. What is happening next Sunday that we need to know about? Next Sunday is my 86th birthday. ((applause)) Having gotten married on my birthday is my 50th wedding anniversary ((applause)) and uh it's just a wonderful thing to be able to come to the house of God all of these years and I still look forward every Sunday to the Lord's day. ((applause)) So, next Sunday during the Sunday service, you're going to be preaching and discussing 86 years and 50 years of marriage. What every man wants in a woman, what every woman wants in a man. I mean, where where we going with this? >> I've already preached that. [laughter] I was reading in the New Testament when I was thinking about what sermon to preach on that day and read the words of the Apostle Paul who said, "God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of Jesus Christ my Lord." I started at the cross 68 years ago. Next Sunday morning, we're going to go to the cross one more time and to show the world the power, the beauty, and the glory of Jesus Christ on the cross. Amen. ((music playing)) He is holy and exalted. He is our savior. And he ((music playing)) is risen. Can we stand together? Open your Bibles to Luke chapter 24. We'll read the first eight verses. The resurrection story is captured in three words. He is risen. Say that with me. He is risen. Christianity rises or falls on the resurrection of Jesus Christ from a grave that was sealed by the Roman Empire. and guarded by its soldiers. If Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead, our faith is a colossal hoax. If Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead, our songs and our sermons are delusional. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, our cathedrals of worship are monuments to a corpse. from the word of God. Today, I'm going to show you the absolute Bible proof that Jesus Christ rose from the dead just as he promised. The best news the world has ever heard came out of a cemetery. He is risen. >> He is risen. Give the Lord praise in the house. ((applause)) These three words shook the Roman Empire to the core. Matthew records in chapter in 28, he tells the story of how Rome gave large sums of money to bribe the Roman guards who personally witnessed the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Their instructions were to tell the people his disciples stole the body while we slept. The guards took the money. They lied to the public. And those lies are still believed to this day. According to Matthew chap 28, the resurrection of Jesus Christ shook the Roman Empire to the core. Let's [snorts] read the resurrection story in Luke 24:es 1 and following. Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the supplr, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the supplr. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, two men stood by them in shining garments, obviously angels, and they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth. They said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but he is risen. Remember how he spoke unto you when he was in Galilee, saying, "The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again." And they remembered his words. Say that with me. And they remembered his words. Let's pray. Our most gracious heavenly father, we gather in this house of worship on this special day to celebrate the glorious victory of Jesus Christ over death, hell, and the grave. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was the dawning of hope for all believers. Because he lives, we shall also live forever. bless the message to the body of Christ watching across America and the and around the world. In the authority of Jesus' name, we pray and say amen and amen. Amen. Can we be seated, please? Here's the re Here's the resurrection story. Last Thursday night, 2,000 years ago, following the Passover meal with his disciples, Jesus of Nazareth was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. Just outside the eastern walls of Jerusalem, his disciples slept as he sweat drops of crimson blood from his brow. Hear the agony of his cry when he says, "Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not my will but your will be done." His destiny was the cross. He was the lamb of God slain from the foundations of the world. Jesus came to this earth to be crucified for you and you and you and me. He went to his disciples who were sleeping and he said, "Could you not watch with me one hour?" The fact is the disciples were sleeping in history's most crucial hour. Are we not doing the same thing in America? America is in a moral, spiritual, political crisis. While the church with its hot tub, feelgood Christianity slumbers in the day of our spiritual crisis. Ladies and gentlemen of America, it's time for an oldfashioned revival of righteousness in these United States of America. ((applause)) Back to the story. Suddenly through the olive trees are seen are seen the flaming torches of 500 Roman soldiers coming from the Antonian fortress to surround the Lord of glory who is in the garden. They arrived and they said we seek Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said I am he. The Roman soldiers in full battle dress with full armor, swords, and shield fell on the ground like dead men. Why? Because Jesus said, "No man takes my life. I lay it down under my own terms and conditions." The truth is, Rome could not convict him. The cross could not conquer him. The grave could not contain him. Satan could not defeat him. Why? Because he was and he is and always shall be the king of kings and the lord of lords. Hallelujah to the lamb of God. ((applause)) He is the conqueror of death, hell, and the grave. AND OF HIS KINGDOM THERE SHALL BE NO END. HALLELUJAH. ((applause)) Jesus said, "All power is given to me in heaven and in earth." Jesus is standing the portrait of absolute power. Roman soldiers are on the ground trembling in catatonic fear, powerless. Jesus Christ of Nazareth was and he still is the mighty conqueror. He is the conqueror of death, hell, and the grave. He is the conqueror of sickness and disease. He is the conqueror of fear and doubt. He is the conqueror because he is the Lord of glory. HE IS THE LION of the tribe of Judah. He is the alpha and the omega, the first and the last. He is the mighty God. HE IS THE PRINCE OF PEACE TODAY, TOMORROW, and forever. Give the Lord a shout of praise in the house. ((applause)) Judas, the deceiver, the devil's advocate. Judas, who cherished money more than the master, he betrayed Jesus with a kiss. Peter slashed off the ear of the servant of the high priest. Why? This servant of the high priest was a Jew. And according to the law of Moses, he could not serve in the temple with a physical defect. Simply said by cutting off his ear and this physical defect, Peter destroyed his career. Jesus responds with his final miracle on earth. He healed the ear of the attacker. Jesus restored his career and he told Peter, "Put up your sword." Why? Because the message to the church is people are not one to Christ through violent acts. They are one by demonstrations of the love of God and the power of God released in their lives. ((applause)) Jesus was then taken to Pilate who said, "I find no fault in this man. By Roman law, the trial should have ended right there. But the Pharisees were not after justice. They were after his life. He was then taken to Herod, whose men of war slapped him and spit on him and put upon his brow a crown of thorns. They ripped off his seamless robe and mocked him with their scarlet robe, SAYING, "HAIL, KING OF THE JEWS. Tell us who slapped you. Jesus was back to P was sent back to Pilate a second time where he was beaten with a Roman cat of ninetails with 39 stripes. Why 39? Because anymore under Roman law would be considered a death sentence because of the amount of blood lost. Listen. Listen in the theater of your mind as you're standing there hearing that whip whistle through the air and that cat of nine tales rip open his back and the blood streams flowing down his back onto the cobblestones and hear the words of the scripture. By his stripes you are healed. By his stripes you are healed. Hallelujah. >> ((applause)) >> That healing power is in this service. Those of you who are here and those of you who are watching by television, if you are sick in your body, there's a healer in your life. His name is Jesus Christ, the son of God. ((applause)) And that great physician has said, "Call upon me and I will show you great and mighty things that you know not." So wherever you are watching this telecast and however you are in this sanctuary, just the mere summons of the name of Jesus will bring that supernatural charge of healing to your body and you can be restored because the healer is in the house. Give him praise. ((applause)) Jesus was sentenced to death by crucifixion on a Roman cross and was placed on his bloody back. He dragged it slowly through the cobblestone streets of Jerusalem. From the whipping post at Calvary to the top of the mountain was 650 yards. As he dragged his cross to Calvary, he saw Jewish mothers weeping. And he said, "Do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and weep for you and your children's children. Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me." Because Jesus knew their future. He looked through the telescope of prophecy into the future. And 37 years later, he saw 1 million Jews in Jerusalem being being killed by the Roman army. He saw 60 to 100,000 Jews carried to uh uh back to Italy to build the Roman coliseum. He saw the eight crusades where the Spanish and he saw the Spanish Inquisition. He saw the horror of the Holocaust where 6 million Jews were slaughtered. He saw the horror of the October 7 war. He saw their future. And up the bloody slopes of Calvary he climbed to the place called Calvary where atheistic hands nailed his precious hands to the old rugged cross. Friday afternoon, April the 3rd, 33 AD, at exactly 3:00 in the afternoon, Jesus, the Son of God, bowed his blood soaked head, adorned with a crown of thorns and shouted IN AGONY, "IT IS FINISHED." And it was. ((applause)) What was finished? Death, hell, and the grave were finished. The power of sin and Satan was finished. Satan's power to control your life and your life and your life and my life was finished. The lamb of God had given us forgiveness of sin. He had given us mercy with the Lord. We now have new beginnings when we fail. There is hope for tomorrow. There is peace in the midst of the storm. Now there is joy unspeakable and full of glory. Now the seed of THE WOMAN HAS CRUSHED THE HEAD OF THE SERPENT. Satan is a defeated foe. Then, today, and forever. Give a shout of praise to the house of God. ((applause)) Before sundown on the Sabbath Friday, his followers took his blood soaked body down from the cross and wrapped it in burial clothes with 100 pounds of spices and laid him in the borrowed tomb of Joseph of Arythea. All night Friday night, Saturday and Saturday night, the giver of life laid dead. Demons rejoiced that he whom they feared was dead. Roman politicians gloated. We've shut up that troublemaker from Galilee. His boasting about an eternal kingdom and his being the king of the Jews. His disciples scattered IN TERROR. HAUNTED by the memory of a blood soaked corpse on the cross. Powerless and pathetic. Naked and dee. The portrait of scandal, suffering with shame. Mary, the mother of Jesus, wept at the foot of the cross, kneeling in the shadow of the cross, seeing her son's blood drip into the sands that were beneath her feet. Roman guard swaggered. This tomb had a Roman seal. He's dead in the eyes of the Rome, in the eyes of the world. When Rome had killed you, you were dead and it was over. Satan was walking the corridors of hell, laughing, laughing in Fendish spasms of demonic joy. I finally won. I have finally won. From the garden of Eden to the garden of Gethsemane, we fought to see he was going to be the ruler of THE WORLD. I am now the conqueror. He shouted with unspeakable joy. At that moment in time, death was still all powerful. The grave was still a dark, gloomy, unconquered pit. Then came the morning of the third day. The third day was the rosy dawn of hope itself. The third day was resurrection morning. On the third day, angels swoop from the balconies of heaven to roll the stone away. On the third day, the blinding flash of light, the massive earthquake and Roman guards fell to their fell to their faces on the ground trembling in terror. On the third day, out of the darkness of that borrowed tomb, walked Jesus Christ, the light of the world, the lamb of God that was slain, who is now the lion of the tribe of Judah. He is now the alpha and the omega. He is the fairest of 10,000. He is the one who was dead AND NOW HE LIVES. THE CONQUEROR OF DEATH, HELL, AND THE GRAVE. Give him a proud shout of praise in this house. ((applause)) Announce it to the world. The champion of Calvary lives. The King of Kings lives. The Lord of Lord lives. My God and my Savior lives. Heaven's hope and hell's dread. He lives. He lives. He lives. >> ((applause)) >> Prophetically, do you know that we're living in the third day? I'm glad to tell you that Jesus is coming and he's coming very soon. It could happen before you get home today. We could be celebrating tonight around the table of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Get ready. Get ready. Get ready. GET READY. ((applause)) WHAT DOES RESURRECTION MEAN? It means that every claim Jesus ever made about himself and his kingdom is absolutely true. It means that there is eternal life to those who believe. The Bible says, "He that believeth in me shall never die. Because I live, you shall live also." There was a time when you were not, but there will never be a time when you will not be either in the arms of God or in the fires of hell. One of those two. It means Jesus Christ was in fact the sign of God, son of God. It means that Jesus Christ was the Lord of glory. He was not a deranged lunatic saying, "If I destroy this temple, I will raise it again on the third day." He did it. He did it. He did it. ((applause)) Buddha is still in his grave. Abraham is still in his grave. Hello. Mohamad is still in his grave. The grave of Jesus Christ of Nazareth is empty. ((cheering)) ((applause)) All hail the power of Jesus name. Let angels prostrate fall. Bring forth the royal. Dade him and crown him Lord of all. He rose from the dead just like he said. He's coming back just like he said. He will sit on the throne of his father David in Jerusalem. And he's going to rule and reign over planet earth for 1,000 years just like he said. The Bible says every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father just like he said. Let not your hearts be troubled. If you believed in God, he said, believe in me. For in my Father's house are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am, there you may be also, just like he said. Hallelujah. ((applause)) The resurrection means that Satan is defeated forever. Today, tomorrow, and forever. We have the keys to the kingdom. We have the authority. Matthew 16:19, Jesus said, "I give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven." That is an awesome verse of scripture. Anything you want to do, you can do in the supernatural because you have that power. You have divine power over Satan's kingdom. You have authority over powers and principalities. You have authority in Jesus' name. You have authority based on the word of God. You have authority over sickness and over disease. Saints of God, the prince of darkness cannot control you. Your chains were shattered on resurrection morning. Our Lord is a chain breaker. He is a way maker. He is the risen savior. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Give him praise in the house. ((applause)) On the resurrection morning, Satan lost his weapon of fear. And Jesus said, "My peace I give unto you, not as the world gives, but such as I have, give I it unto you. We now have peace that surpasses understanding. We have peace the world can't give. We have peace that you can't get out of a bottle. Shocking as that may be to some of you. You cannot be tormented. You can't be tormented by death. Why? Because the word of God says, "Yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me." The shadow of death, the shadow of a lion cannot bite you. The shadow of a snake cannot harm you. The shadow of a sword cannot cut you. Death is a harmless shadow to you. Thus, death is a short bus bus ride into the presence of God. You cannot be tormented by disease because by his stripes we are healed. He is still the great physician and that great physician is in the house this morning. Jesus is his name. Give him praise in this house. ((applause)) Listen to what the angel said. The angels asked the followers of Jesus, "Do you remember what he said? Do you remember what he said?" The angel said, "He told you that he would be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day he would rise again." And the Bible says, "Then they remembered what he said." They remembered all these things. Get this. For three days they had been weeping, feeling defeated, feeling disillusioned. If only they could have remembered what he said. Listen. Before there is a resurrection, there has to be a crucifixion. Before there is a sunrise, there must be a midnight. Before there is a victory, there must be a fight. Before there is a crown, there must be a cross. Before there is a purchase, there must be a cost. Do you remember what he said? In the times of stress, we forget the sweet promises of God. How sweet life would be if we simply remembered what he said. If we would walk in faith and enjoy this Bible, you could be a victorious child of God with every breath you breathe. Give the Lord a shout of praise in the house of God. >> ((applause)) >> Do you feel lonely? Do you feel rejected? Do you feel abandoned? Do you remember what he said? I will never leave you nor forsake you, even to the ends of the earth. IF YOUR MOTHER AND YOUR FATHER forsake you, I will lift you up. He is our heavenly father all day, every time. >> Are you suffering in your health? Do you remember what he said? These signs shall follow them that believe in my hands in my name. They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. He is still the healing Jesus and he can heal you. Are you are your finances failing? Don't look at your wife. Do you remember what he said? All the gold and silver are mine, said the Lord. And what does that have to do with us? He said, you are hes and joint hes with me through Jesus Christ. When we get to heaven, we're going to use gold for asphalt on the streets. That's what you call financial success. Is the Lord who gives you the power to get well. He says, "Beloved, I wish that you prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers." Do you feel defeated? Do you remember what he said? Greater is he that's in you than he that's in THE WORLD. WE'RE MORE than conquerors through Christ. We are the victors, not victims. Victors because of Calvary. The royal blood of heaven is flowing in your veins. Let God arise and let his enemies be scattered. You cannot be defeated. Quitting is out of the question. Fight the good fight. Fight the good fight. Fight the good fight because you ARE THE WINNER. RUN THE RACE TO WIN IT. Hallelujah to the lamb of God. ((applause)) Why am I so optimistic? Because I remember what he said. He said, "Nothing is impossible to those who believe. Write the vision down and make it plain. Be of good cheer. The word says, I have overcome the world. Be of good cheer. Thy sins be forgiven thee. Be of good cheer. It is I. Be not afraid. I am he who was dead. And behold, I am alive forever more. And I have the keys to death, hell, AND THE GRAVE. HALLELUJAH. FOR THE RISEN SAVIOR. ((applause)) The resurrection story is the story of faith over failure. It's the story of how to turn your worst day into your best day. I like to preach a whole sermon on that thief on the cross. Think about it. The first guy to enter heaven by the blood of Jesus was a thief. this day you're going to be with me in paradise. Remember that. Remember when you come to the end of your life, you're standing right next to the Savior and to the angels of God. For 100 years, Good Friday was called Black Friday. It looked like the worst day in history of the Christianity because Jesus, the giver of life, was dying. The healer was being called a heretic. The deliverer was said to be a demonized deceiver. The great shepherd was involved in a great scandal. The Lord of glory was being called a liar and a lunatic by the Roman government. It was indeed Black Friday. It appeared to be the worst day ever. But at 3:00 in the afternoon, the black clouds were boiling in fury over the cross. The ground shook. Dead men walked out of their grave. Did you know that happened in the city of Jerusalem while that was happening? Dead men got up and walked out of their grave. Don't you know that was shocking to walk down the street? Harry, we buried you yesterday. What are you doing here? The veil in the temple was split from top to bottom. Why? Because God took his hands and ripped it from top to bottom. You no longer have to have a priest to go in and talk to God. You walk in the presence of God with the authority of Jesus' name. Hallelujah. ((applause)) Farid tongues of lightning slashed the black heavens. The son of God who commanded wind and waves. The healer of leprosy with a single touch was alive. He raised Lazarus from the dead with three simple words. The son of God was hanging from a Roman course. When he was caked in blood, naked in shame and disgrace. The high priest mocking himself said, "If you are the son of God, save yourself." But he could not save himself and save you >> and you and you and me. He came to die for us. In agony, Jesus said, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" And his chin fell on his blood soaked chest and he cried. But time has proven for this black gloomy nightmare to be the brightest day in the history of the church. When we are tested when we don't know a good day from a bad day. It looked like a bad day when Moses fled to the backside of the wilderness. It looked like a bad day when Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt. But it was a day that the Jewish nation was saved because of what Joseph could do. It looked like a bad day, but Jesus Christ, the Savior, bowed his head in death and made it possible for all of us to live forever and forever. Do you think he understood what was happening to him while it was happening? Remember what he said. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. He leads me beside still water. He leads me in paths of righteousness. He restores my stole. He's leading you right now to an opportunity that's bigger than anything that you've ever dreamed possible. When you're down to nothing, God is up to something. And that something is always big. ((applause)) Resurrection day is when the impossible becomes possible. Resurrection day is when stones that can't be rolled away are rolled away. Resurrection day is when the seals that can't be broken are broken. When broken relationships that can't be healed are healed. When the sick bodies are healed. When hopes that have been shattered are healed. when God Almighty transforms your darkest night into the brightest day. In closing the case for the resurrection, what changed the disciples from cowards hiding in fear to lions of God? What changed him? Peter cursed and denied him before an 18year-old girl on Pilate's patio. You spineless punk you. Peter cursed and denied him. Thomas was calling the New York Times to expose this fraud who claimed to be God. Thomas doubted him to the end. That's why people are called doubting Thomas to this day. James, his brother, who did not follow Jesus while he lived, but was willing to die a martyr. Why? Follow those 12 disciples. They were crucified upside down. One was beheaded. They were boiled in oil. They were exiled. They were fed to lions in the coliseum. Neero wrapped Christians in oily rags and burned them alive. They were willing to die. Why? Not for a blood soaked corpse at Calvary. Not for an embombed rabbi in a barred tomb. Not for a liar and a lunatic. The answer is they went from cowards hiding behind closed door to lions of God because they had seen the risen Savior. They talked to him. They touched him. They ate with him by the Sea of Galilee. They saw him ascend into heaven. Everywhere they went for the next 50 years, THEY HAD ONE MESSAGE. HE LIVES. He lives. He lives. He lives. ((applause)) Why did they die martyr? Because they knew Jesus was alive and well. that he sits at the right hand of God the Father with all power and great glory. I have good news. He's coming back soon. >> He's coming back soon. ((music playing)) ((applause)) The book of Acts says, "This same Jesus," say that with me, "This same Jesus shall come in like manner as you have seen him leave." Are you ready? If Jesus Christ came before you got home, are you ready? We're that close. We're that close. Can we stand together? Those of you who are watching television across America and around the world, are you ready? How many of you in this room would say, "Pastor, if Jesus came right now, I'm not sure that I would be taken in the rapture, but I want to be." Would you raise your hand? I'll pray for you right where you are. God bless you. Raise your hand. God bless you. And God bless you. God bless you. I know good and well everybody in that balcony is not saved. All liars shall have their part in the lake of fire. Jesus Christ is offering you an instant eternal life there. Now congregation pray this prayer. You're watching by television pray this prayer. ((music playing)) Hallelujah. This morning we receive this communion in memory of the sacrifice of our savior. But not only his sacrifice, his victory. Victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil. And what that means for us. We're not fighting for what he won. We are standing in the victory that he has given. >> For the Bible tells us that we have overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. So this morning we read from Matthew's gospel in the 26th chapter. It says as they were eating Jesus took the bread and he blessed it and he broke it and he gave it to the disciples. Take it and ((music playing)) eat it. This is my body. Can we take the symbol of the Lord's broken body? And then he took the cup and he gave thanks and he gave it to them and said, "Drink from it all of you. Can we take the symbol of the Lord's shed blood? For this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my father's kingdom. And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. I want to go back to that verse in Hosana, the second verse. I want you to declare this in victory as we leave this place today. I will rise from waters deep into the saving [music and singing] arms of God. I will sing salvation ((music playing)) song. [singing] Jesus Christ has set me free. Declare hosana. Hosana. [singing and music] Hosana to the lamb ((music playing)) that was slain. Hosana. [singing] Hosana. ((music playing)) Jesus died and rose again. Hosana. [music and singing] Hosana to the ((music playing)) lamb that was slain. Hosanana. [music and singing] Jesus died and rose again. ((music playing)) >> [singing] ((music playing)) >> Lift your hands for the blessing. And now may the Lord bless you and may the Lord keep you. And may the Lord make his face to shine upon you. May you live a life filled with joy, peace, and prosperity because this is the Father's will for your life. be numbered among the righteous, so that when the trump of God shall sound, we shall stand together hand in hand before the throne of God to sing about the lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world. Receive this blessing in Jesus name. Amen. You're dismissed. ((music playing)) >> ((music playing)) >> Happy resurrection day. We are honored and excited that you've joined us. We'll see you soon. >> You're watching Haggy Ministries. Don't ((music playing)) go away. Here's more teaching from the word of God. Here ((music playing)) in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ was kneeling and praying. His disciples were sleeping. And suddenly, a mob from the high priest's home comes to arrest him. Soldiers, temple guards, angry men, and one of Jesus very own friends. Judas approaches him. And the Bible tells us very closely in Luke 22 and 48. Judas, are you betraying the son of man with a kiss? This was the question that Jesus asked. In this question, you can hear the grace that God gives to those who are about to do wrong. He knew why Judas was there. He knew what Judas was about to do. But even in asking the question, he was wanting to make sure that Judas was going through with it and he needed to know he had ((music playing)) a chance to back out. Another disciple awakes and he's very angry at what he sees. Peter pulls a sword and he strikes one of the temple guards. Jesus in grace and mercy picks up the wounded man's ear and restores him. Just a few hours later, Peter is outside the house of Caiaphas, the high priest, back up on the hill behind me in the city of Jerusalem. There's a mock trial that's going on. ((music playing)) There's false accusations being extended. In this hour, Jesus needs Peter as a friend more than any hour ((music playing)) in the three years that they've spent together. And yet, Peter does exactly what Judas did just a few moments ago. Judas denied him with a kiss. Peter denied him with his words, not once, not twice, but three times. And then we hear the rooster crow. You know, often times I think it's funny how two human beings will judge one another, how someone like Peter will ((music playing)) judge a Judas or how a Judas will judge a Peter. But Christ extends grace to both. Christ extends ((music playing)) grace to all. to Judas. He extended a question just before he crossed the line. Whenever he rose just a few days later, Jesus tells his disciples, "Go tell my disciples and Peter." He wanted Peter to know that there was enough grace in his heart to be forgiven. I want you to know no matter when you encounter Christ, no matter the moment that you come to the knowledge of who he is, no matter what you've done, there's grace that he can ((music playing)) extend to you today. The empty tomb is the miracle of the resurrection. [snorts] The power of God was not fulfilled in all of the wonders that we saw Christ perform in ((music playing)) his earthly ministry. His promise of our salvation was not kept on the cross. ((music playing)) Actually, that promise is found in an empty grave where Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death, defeating hell, ((music playing)) and defeating the grave. The miracle of the resurrection and the power of the Holy Spirit is what is the promise of our salvation. As a matter of fact, in Luke 24:es ((music playing)) 6-8, we read these words. It says, "He is not here, but he is risen." Remember how he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee, saying, "The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and the third day rise ((music playing)) again." And they remembered his words. I want you to consider that for ((music playing)) just a moment. They remembered his words. Often times you and I forget the words of Jesus. It's not uncommon. Mary and Mary Magdalene did. If they had remembered his words, they would not have come to the tomb early that ((music playing)) morning where he had been buried on Friday night so that they could preserve his body with spices. ((music playing)) But when they arrived at the tomb, they found it empty. The stone that the Roman soldiers had placed in front to keep the body from being stolen had been rolled away. And Jesus, who they wrapped in linen and covered in frankincense and other spices, was no longer in the tomb. There they found two men. And the Bible says they were in dazzling robes and garments standing next to the tomb. These men were angels. And they told the women that Jesus was not there, ((music playing)) that he had risen just as he said he would. The women then returned and told the disciples that Jesus' body was gone. Peter couldn't believe it. He ran when he heard the news to the tomb ((music playing)) for himself. And he found what they saw. Jesus wasn't there. And he confirmed the words of the women. And then they all remembered his words. It's in that moment that the Holy Spirit began to flood their minds with the memories ((music playing)) of the conversations and the teachings and the things that they had heard when they walked with Jesus as his followers ((music playing)) and disciples. The disciples remembered his words and were encouraged. What has the Lord spoken ((music playing)) to you? Take a moment and consider the promises that you've read in his word. Consider the things that spiritual leaders, pastors, and others have prophesied to you. What dreams and visions has God planted in your heart through that still small voice of the Holy Spirit? Think of every time that you have spoken his ((music playing)) promises in your life, believing that you would receive them in the future and [snorts] rejoice in the fact that we have a God who is able to do exactly what he said he would do. Take hope and rest in the ((music playing)) knowledge that you are not responsible to make the promise come to pass. Remember what he said. It's only our responsibility to trust and obey, ((music playing)) to believe with all of our heart and lean not to our own understanding. Just like the women had forgotten that Jesus said he would rise on the third day. They came to the tomb. Had they remembered, they would have stayed in Jerusalem and just simply waited for him to appear. It's easy for us to get busy in the responsibility of our lives, believing that that will bring the hastening of God's promise. But I assure you, allow the Holy Spirit to bring back to your remembrance what he has said. And in his promises, you'll find his provision. In his provision, you'll find that he's a God of more than enough. As the Holy Spirit brings his words and his promises back to your remembrance, embrace them. believe them. ((music playing)) Allow his Holy Spirit to do for you what these angels did when they saw Mary and Mary Magdalene outside of this tomb. They said, "He is ((music playing)) not here. Why do you look for the living among the dead?" Do you ((music playing)) remember what he said? He is risen. You know, I consider this fact. They were looking for the right thing in the wrong place. Maybe you're like that. You've looked for God's provision in man's promises. You've looked for a breakthrough from something in the natural earth. The reality of it is when you look for the right thing in the wrong place, you're never going to be satisfied. ((music playing)) But when you look for a supernatural breakthrough, from a supernatural promise from a supernatural God, I assure you, you are going to find ((music playing)) that you have more than enough. As a matter of fact, it's more than you could ask, think, or imagine. Don't look for what you need in the wrong ((music playing)) place. Look for what you need in God's provision, in his promises. Trust in him to make his word come alive in his perfect time that he will perfect his promise in your ((music playing)) life today. Picture that first Easter morning so long ago. The disciples are just hearing the news from Mary Magdalene that Jesus is not in the ((music playing)) tomb, that he is risen. Can you imagine all that would have been going through their minds? We get a glimpse of it in John the 20th chapter beginning in verse three. Peter therefore went out and the other disciple and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. And he stooping down and looking in saw the linen clothes lying there. Yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came ((music playing)) following him and went into the tomb and he saw the linen clothes lying there. Verse 7 says, "And the handkerchief that had been around his head was not lying with the linen clothes, but folded together in a place by itself." So there you see two disciples just a few moments ago doubting that they had indeed walked with the King of Kings, yet daring to put a little bit of hope in the testimony of Mary Magdalene. Peter and John raced from the place that they were hiding for their lives to the tomb where they had just a few days ago placed Jesus' body. John beats Peter to the tomb and when he gets there, he walks in and notices that the body is ((music playing)) gone. But he does not go to investigate any further. By the time Peter arrives, he looks and sees two sets of garments. one the linen garments that they had wrapped Jesus's body in and intombed him and the other is the folded cloth left behind by Jesus. This is not just something that the Bible records and is details for us to consider. This folded cloth was left there behind by Jesus and it gives us not only a glimpse into Jewish culture, but it bears great significance. This handkerchief was called a talit. It was actually a prayer shaw that was given to every Jewish boy who had gone past his 13th birthday. In Judaism, if someone was done with a napkin, they would simply cast it aside, not take the time to fold it. But if they folded it, it was a symbol that they planned to return and finish what they were doing. Jesus just didn't leave ((music playing)) his talit lying in the tomb. He carefully folded it. Now, if someone had snuck in and stolen the body of Jesus, why would they take the time to fold the talit? When Peter saw this folded ((music playing)) talit sitting over in the corner, separate from the grave clothes, it was a very clear message. One, that someone had been in here and that someone was alive. Two, the person ((music playing)) who was in here was Jewish. The only individual who that could have been was Jesus Christ. The folded talit was his message to them personally. I'm coming back. The talit says it all. The talit reminds us that Jesus is indeed going to return. That's the culmination of our hope. That's what we look forward to. It is the prophecy that echoes from Genesis all the way to Revelation. Jesus Christ, our savior, is coming back as Messiah. Everything Jesus did and continues to do has purpose. Just as he took time to carefully fold the talit to give attention and detail to the disciples, Jesus is concerned about every detail of your life. And he wants to move in your heart ((music playing)) in a significant way. Be encouraged and look at your situation and your life with fresh eyes, with eyes that take notice of every detail, knowing that the God who created heaven and earth is ((music playing)) watching over every facet of your being. Don't overlook what God is doing today. Know that ((music playing)) each and every day his mercies are renewed and that he has a plan for you. That's what we read in Jeremiah 2011 29:11. The Bible says that God has a plan for you. A plan to prosper you, not to harm you, and to give you a hope and a future. Your life is not an accident. Nothing happens by coincidence. You are a child of the most high God, and he has a unique purpose for your life and he will fulfill his word. If you feel lost or abandoned, if you feel as though you have no hope, just know that Jesus wants to return to your life and breathe fresh hope to your dreams if you'll put your faith in a resurrected ((music playing)) savior.
