never there is no one like you there is another side open up my eyes and wander and show me who you are ((music playing)) amen ((music playing)) you may be seated tonight the book of acts in chapter eight is where we begin to take our text tonight acts chapter number eight as i said at the beginning uh we're streamlining things because of the winds mighty winds that are supposed to be blowing upon us and the last time we had one of these storms it came right at eight o'clock when we were getting everybody out of the tent and i can already tell the back flaps are starting to to work so our guys back there be my eyes and ears if you would and kind of let me know if things get a little bit inclement out there and i need to cut things short and get the folks out and then again as i said uh the last couple of days man i just got into something with my voice and in my chest and man i went on a hacking spell a little while ago for about two hours straight and it was just it's just choking me and so it's kind of really affected my vocal cords tonight so i'm just going to trust the microphone to do their work and i'm going to try not to get too excited i won't make any promises with that but just going to give you a little bit of word tonight we've already gone through matthew mark luke and john and then many other places but i also want to peruse through the book of acts to show you a couple of things tonight and so this will end the wednesday night part on our series on deliverance from demons so tonight we'll be delivering from demons part 7 because we made it all the way through matthew martin luke john and now we'll get to the entirety of the book of acts and there's only about five references in the book of acts and then we'll continue to move along with some other subject matter and some other material doctrinally but it's going to be a beautiful thing and let me just say this at the onset before we get started we've not chosen a date yet but we do have a debate set up right here on the platform of global vision bible church for the world to be able to watch and uh we have one taker on why the ministry of deliverance is unbiblical and we are gonna have a time that night amen we are going to have a two-hour time i can promise you that father i pray you'd bless the word of god to our hearts for the next few moments lord i know that storms are going to be upon us in a few moments and so we want to not hurry through the text but we do need to move along in the service and so i pray that you should make our time as optimally important as possible and no matter how far we get in the text i pray that we would understand the workings and the theology and the doctrine of this beautiful book that we call the bible that shows us that indeed even today we have biblical god-given authority in the name of the lovely lord jesus christ in spiritual warfare to stand against the enemy and defeat him because he's already been defeated by the cross and the resurrection of our lord and savior so thank you for what you're doing in this room and lord i am no naive individual as not to believe that there has been nefarious plans against this church against this platform against the preaching of the word of god against our deliverance ministry in our deliverance service we have had an unbelievable amount of witches showing up in the last few services and i know there's one in this room right now but father i pray that you would move may the power of the blood of jesus christ cover this tent i break off every hex every spell every vex every curse every potion and every bit of wicked devilish hellish nonsense we come against all of it in the mighty name of the lord jesus christ you will be lifted up you will be honored you will be glorified jesus will be preached lives will be changed and the holy ghost will be unleashed in this house we declare that and believe it in the mighty name of jesus and all of god's people said acts chapter number eight the reason i want to go into the book of acts is for a number of reasons number one it's not the acts of the apostles it's the acts of the holy ghost working through the apostles number two when you go through matthew mark luke and john inevitably here's what people even those that will be in our debate will say well that was under the ministry of jesus well you can't have it both ways skippy because in the book of acts you don't have the ministry of jesus you have the minister of the holy spirit in the local new testament church and we are a local new testament church this is a book of pattern and so it continued after jesus went to heaven and so i want to show you that the early church practiced the ministry of deliverance i'm going to prove it to you look please acts chapter number eight we'll pick up a reading in verse number five then philip look at me just for a moment he was not an apostle he was a deacon he was an elder in a local church he was not an apostle he was not one of the twelve and he was not one of the seventy he was a deacon in a local church community all right philip went down to the city of samaria and he preached christ unto them now we preached a whole message on deliverance from the occult from this story so we're not going to deal with the whole story i just want to show you the times in the book of acts that evil spirits are mentioned verse six and the people with one accord gave heed they listened intently under those things which philip spake hearing and seeing so they heard the gospel and seeing the miracles which he did so the question then must arise in the context naturally and logically what are the miracles which he did verse 7 for unclean what spirits what we call those demons around here this is the book of acts this is not the book of matthew this not mark this not luke this not john this is local new testament book of acts from the ministry of a deacon not an apostle for unclean spirits crying with a loud voice those cowards love to scream they came out of many say many not one not two and not a dozen the holy ghost went out of his way to say many these evil spirits cried with a loud voice came out of many that were possessed that were demonized with them and then because of that here's the result and many taken with palsies and that were lame were healed so when the demonized individuals were delivered and the healings were administered to notice the result verse 8 and there was great joy say great joy in that city that's revival that's the wind of the holy ghost right there that's revival evil spirits came out in the ministry of a deacon not an apostle not an ordained 12 or 70 and a a man that was simply an evangelist an elder in a local church in the book of acts after jesus ascended and he cast out many many many did i say many devils in one town you cannot deny the reality that the early church was baptized and immersed in an understanding that they had authority over demonic activity does that make sense you cannot deny its reality now i want you to go please to chapter 10. we'll hurriedly get through these texts acts chapter 10. this is right in the middle of a trance and a vision that peter has from the lord and in the middle of that in the midst of a message that he is receiving from god notice please verse 38 this is a verse that you should memorize you should highlight this text it's one of the greatest verses in the whole bible about the ministry of deliverance how god anointed jesus of nazareth with the holy ghost and with power and noticed the results who jesus went about doing good what was the good that he did and healing all that were oppressed of the who devil for god here's the reasoning was with him because greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world and so the bible says that jesus went about by the power and the demonstrable work of the holy spirit doing good and he was the good that he did by the power of the holy spirit he laid his hands on people that were oppressed of the devil and might i just add it says here that he went about doing good healing all that were oppressed which would tell us that probably nine times out of ten when jesus healed somebody it was because he was able to cast out a spirit of infirmity and then the healing came that's what the bible says that's not what greg locke said acts 10 38 tells us right there healing all that were oppressed of the devil so to deny demonic oppression in people's lives is to deny the reality and the authority and the power of the clear teaching of the word of god so i don't know why we think this is a big deal right and everybody's like well my goodness we're heaven bound with a hammer down you just been going going going going going going going and surely by now since we've been going going going you got it right you got the idea that it don't go back in the box you got the idea that we don't stop this you got the idea that we don't go backwards you got the idea we don't just quit this and stop talking about it it's all over the bible and it's all over church history and guess what it's all over our church history and our church future so you better get used to it because deliverance is in the word of god and we have power we have power and authority in the name of jesus to deliver people from demonic activity it's what jesus did now look please at chapter 13. again all this in the book of acts this all in the book of acts ministry of the apostle paul ministry of non-apostles ministry of the early church the deacons the elders this is a church ministry chapter number 13. in chapter 13 you see that men were separated by the power of fasting and prayer by the holy ghost to go on their first missionary journey but i want you to notice what happens in verse six and when they had gone through the isle of pepos they found a certain sorcerer a man who was demonized by witchcraft a man who had a spirit of divination a man who was heavily involved in occult practices which are just as heavily influential today as they were when this was written and so they found a certain sorcerer and because he was a sorcerer he was a false prophet a jew whose name was bar jesus which was with the deputy of the country so he goes to the deputy because people that have the spirit of divination always try to ruin the leadership sergius paulus a prudent man who called for barnabas and saul and desired to hear the word of god this deputy won't hear the bible he's like man tell me a little bit more about this jesus business you all been talking about but elimus the sorcerer and notice the the little parentheses here for so his nick for his name was interpretation so we know what his name is but the interpretation is elimas the sorcerer the the witch doctor is it what he withstood them doing what the same thing witchcraft always wants to do seeking to turn away the deputy from the truth that's what the occult does it turns people away from the truth you see the devil doesn't care what you believe as long as you don't believe the truth that makes sense the bible says in second corinthians 4 4 and whom the god that's little g g o d and who the god of this world hath blind of the minds of them which believe not lest the light of the glorious gospel of christ who is the image of god should shine unto them and so because the devil is the god of this world he doesn't care what you believe just don't believe the truth and he'll use any bit of tomfoolery sorcery occultism and witchcraft to make you believe whatever you want to believe just not the truth of the gospel because the truth will make you free and he tried to keep this man from hearing the truth now watch this verse 9 then saul who also was called paul filled with the holy ghost set his eyes on him i like that stared him down real good up one side down the other now lest you think sometimes i get a little bit bold in my profession watch please verse 10 and he said o full of all subtlety and all mischief thou child of the devil thou enemy of all righteousness will thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the lord oh paul you can't talk like that you have people's feelings he was counting on it he was counting on it you don't talk nice to the devil you know why the devil's got such a foothold in some of your homes because you placate to him you give him what he wants you like to come i ain't compromising with devils i ain't compromising with witches i'm not compromising with satan i'm not compromising with demons i'm not compromising with the occult i'm not i'm not i'm not if that makes me a colossal jerk with a capital j i am not going to compromise with wicked unrighteousness and those that pervert the ways of the lord i'm not and i'm not called to i am called to hate the devil and love jesus and if you love jesus you will hate the devil yes you will he said you child of the devil and so here we see this man who had been demonized through all this witchery and this occultism and paul called him out but go to chapter 16 now chapter 16 we know this to be the story of paul and silas going to jail singing at midnight but before they got there we preached on the spirit of divination some weeks ago but i just want to show you that that is here it's plain and it's very important that we see this chapter 16 verse 16. it came to pass as we went to prayer a certain damsel simply just means a young lady possessed unfortunate word it means demonized afflicted by possessed with a spirit of divination notice not the spirit of divination but a spirit of divination because there's many of them not just one but a spirit of divination a python spirit a a magical soothing forth-telling palm-reading spirit there was a spirit of divination and she met us and notice what she does which brought her masters so she's owned by people because of the gift that she possesses much gained by what by sooth saying so she could tell you who to bet on on the super bowl she could tell you who was going to win the indy 500. she could tell you what was going to happen in the next few days in your life or at least make you think that as she's speaking through a familiar spirit and might i just say that maybe not a familiar terminology but you need to know that because some people i hear even good sincere people say things like this well you know i'm just grateful that god let me talk to my grandmother at the foot of my bed you was talking to a demon that was a familiar spirit that was pretended to be your grandmother stop at nonsense that's necromancy that's demonic that's wicked that's violent that is out of hell you ain't never talked to a dead person a day in your life ever you say well brother law i just don't know if i no no you ain't never talked to your dead cat you ain't never talked to your dead daddy you have never talked to anybody on the phone that has passed to the other side it is a demon it is a familiar spirit that has followed your family with a spirit of divination that wants to deceive you and drag you to hell that's what it is there is no such thing as ghosts they're demons all this television ghost hunter it's demon hunters is what it's demons i believe in haunted houses they're demons it's evil spirits so get all of this ghosts and aliens out of your mind it's all demons every bit of it it's all demonic activity every last bit of it all of it and so this this little chick with a spirit of divination she met them and she brought her masters much gain by fortune telling now watch when that was in verse 17 the same this girl notice the description of her is not wicked not deviant not nefarious she's not running around naked okay she's just a simple girl telling the truth but she's operating under the wrong spirit with a right gift she has the right gift but it's submitted to the wrong spirit the same followed paul and us and cried saying these men are the servants of the most high god was what she said true or false true absolutely which show unto us the way of salvation were they doing that yes or no yes absolutely what she said was right but watch this and this did she many days let me ask you a question i just want you to put your thinking caps on i'm not going to tell you one way or the other to believe on this paul was a pretty straight dude right he called you out do you really think paul would allow a lost wicked vile overly possessed young woman to follow his evangelistic ministry team around him and go to prayer meeting for many days without calling her out until two or three days into the process no we're talking about the influence of what happens in the early church and i think you're going to be hard-pressed to prove to me that this woman in some shape form or fashion was not a professing individual in the church going to a prayer meeting a professing christian that was demonized with a python spirit and finally paul's like okay we've had enough of this and he talks to the spirit he was grieved he was grieved not at what she said but at the rapidity with which she kept saying it because it became a distraction to the message so watch he's grieved he says as he turns there to the spirit i command thee i love that he didn't say now i pray if you would be ever so willing to listen to my sweet humble whisper oh no he said i command it jack i command thee in the name of jesus christ there's your commanding officer right there there's your authority right there i command thee in the name of jesus christ to come out of her now i love this phrase and he came out watch this in the next five minutes oh no some of them take a little while people like y'all not talk to demons apparently he talked to it for a while because it came out the same hour it took paul like a whole hour to get her out and get it out and guess what he wrote 14 books of the bible so i think it's all right to ask them questions every now and did you know mark chapter 5 says that the devil besought him much you know what that means that means there's a whole conversation that we don't even we're not even privy to if the bible said that the devil besought him much that doesn't mean he said please please pretty please no much means a lot little slimy thing was whining crying compromising and so in this context the bible says within the same hour finally that thing let her go and it came out but notice the problem with it coming out verse 19 when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone they caught paul and silas and drew them into the marketplace under the ruler see now they've lost their money they've lost their hocus pocus pixie dust if you will these guys were willing to allow a girl to be fully demonized as long as it made them money but god forbid you come in tipping over the tables you see don't mess with people's money don't don't mess with crooked preachers that only love money because when you call them out their fangs will pop out of their lips and they'll come after you you see the common denominator is the love of money not the money but the love of money which is the root of all evil and both religious people and political people will sell their souls to the devil over money and they were mad at true preachers for delivering a girl that was under a demonic oppression they should have rejoiced but they were mad because now they're gonna go broke and i pray all them crooks go broke every last one of them chapter 19. we're doing good wind ain't picked up yet i might need a few of you like last time kind of stick around just pray we don't know how these poles are going to hold up this will be the first big wind storm with all these concrete pillars up in here but it's going to be good so uh you guys can hold some poles and pray and we're just going to hope for the best and trust the lord it's his tent it'd be nice not to have it tore up for easter but if he wants us to meet in the parking lot we will it'll be all right it's whatever the lord wants acts 19 look at verse 11. we've done a whole message on this particular context but again i need you to see it in the book of acts in the context of the narrative of the local church of a newly established church filled by the power of the holy ghost not in the ministry of jesus after the ministry of jesus whether to believe the bible or we don't verse 11. and god wrought special miracles by the hands of paul and i would say that he did because watch what one of them was so that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons and the diseases departed from them but noticed something else that happened and the evil what spirits went out of them when out of these sick people went out of these hurting people and out of these depressed heavy laden burdened down people the evil spirits begin to leave them then certain of the vagabond traveling jews exorcists i find it interesting these guys are lost but the bible calls them exorcist did you know that even in the matthew chapter 7 it says many shall say unto me in that day lord lord did we not cast out devils in your name and then i shall say to them i never knew you depart from me that work iniquity you see the power is not in the preacher the power is in the name of jesus and it's even worked for lost people that are going to bust hail wide open but they're called exorcists now that's a weird terminology it's a little bit too uh catholic for me to use on a very regular basis it was a super religious term here amongst these jews it's always been a weird wild religious term i kind of like the phrase deliverance since jesus came to preach deliverance to the captives luke 4 18. but you notice that these guys were lost but they had a profession and their profession was exorcist you know why because even during this time even doing it wrong people saw the dramatic dynamic results of those that had been demonized by evil spirits even the world does not deny what the church is afraid of why do you think movies like the exorcist are so famous but what do you think a poltergeist is why do you think people are so addicted to the occult because there's power in it they don't deny that there's power in it even the world knows that there's demonic influence and these lost jewish vagabond so-called preachers exorcists they took upon them verse 13. to call over them not just one of them they tried it a number of times but one of them bit them right in the face to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the lord jesus now that sounds beautifully close to what we do except for the next part saying we adore you by jesus whom paul preaches we don't know who this jesus is but it works for paul so maybe it'll work for us and so in the name of jesus whom we don't even know come out well the devil mocked them and if you don't think demons will mock you you ain't talk to any they will mock you there is a spirit of mockery that will mock you that will mock the gospel and mock the church and mock the ministry of deliverance because they know they're coming out all the way up and all the way out and they know it and so they he mocks back now watch this verse 14. and there were seven sons of one skeva a jew chief of the priest this religious man which did so and the evil spirit said now watch the evil spirit is now going to take on seven people anybody been in one of our mass deliverance services with about seven or eight fully grown nice-sized men that look like they got a planet fitness membership get tossed around like legos by somebody in their 20s because i'm telling you their supernatural power and strength when somebody is oppressed of the devil and the evil spirit answered and said jesus oh i know him and paul yeah i know him but who in the wild were you jesus i know and paul i know but who are you that was very deflating to the ego i guarantee you of all seven of these guys the devil didn't even know him pastor schaefer henry schaefer the deliverance general i called him he was here sunday night to witness our our mass deliverance and i'll be honest he took my wife and i and our staff and and and many of us through deliverance personally and i was a little bit nervous i was like man this guy's been in deliverance ministry like a long time as long nearly as i've been in the ministry and he's seen a lot of people delivered but he doesn't do mass deliverance he's seen it you know when worley and derek prince and guys in the past but he'd never really like been in a service and he's like yeah i'm i'm looking forward i just want to come he said i'm not even going to critique i just want to see what the lord does and he jumped right in when that first person flared up but he sent me a text and he said this son is the move of god that the world's been waiting on right here this is the move of god that the world's been waiting on right here deliverance minister bringing global attention to it but you know it's interesting that i was talking to him the other day over lunch and he made this this observation it was a beautiful statement i hope he's watching hope he watches this later because this this transformed me he said you know what bothers me he said these people are always coming and they're like well i can't believe you talk to demons we we just tell them in jesus name get out and we just sigh we we just don't even let him talk so he says let me ask you this you're the minister of deliverance yes and a demons never talked to you exactly he said it's a pretty lousy anointing when you can't even annoy a devil enough to talk back to you he said you mean to tell me you ain't got enough anointing from the holy ghost to make what a mocking talk back he said you ain't in deliverance ministry you need deliverance if you've got the anointing of god on you you start calling out them devils in the name of jesus him jokers will start squirming and they'll talk back to you you say that makes me nervous i didn't make you turn to tv on the night you just decided to i'm here to tell you it's time we get back to what the bible teaches i'm looking so forward to this debate i can't see straight i can't i got so much bible on my side i ain't the least bit worried about it i'm telling you it's right here in the bible and he said well i know jesus and i know paul but i don't know who you are now check this out verse 16 we about done train him and the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them so who did the leaping the man who caused him do the leaping the demon and the man whom the evil spirit was leaked on them and overcame them and prevailed against them seven to one that's pretty good odds and he prevailed against them so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded they come in their suit and ties go out buck naked aren't you glad twitter wasn't around back then and jerusalem days man that'd been trending wouldn't it preachers out of town beat them all up jumped on top of them that devil looked at them and said look i know who paul is and i know who jesus is but i don't have any idea who you are let me tell you why that encourages me because everywhere i go you know what people are talking about about global vision they're not talking about our political stand they're talking about our deliverance ministry and i'll tell you something it's one thing to be known in the white house i want to be known in hell by the demons i want them to be afraid of this church ((music playing)) i want them to be shocked when we show up in this tent and be like oh my goodness here they go again no wonder people have such a hard time getting to this tent devil's trying to keep them because he knows soon as they walk in they're gonna be delivered from the power of the enemy by the power of the lord jesus christ and look that's just the book of acts one two three four five five that i found five references good lengthy hefty references and one of them even powerfully to the lord jesus in 10 38 in the book of acts the local church book so now we've got matthew mark luke john axe and 20 other sermons on top of those five right those books 25 26 sermons in and yet there are still people that want to debate the validity and biblical nature of deliverance from demons it's almost as if they would just prefer people to be bound by demons because it makes their job easier because they don't have to bring up something that makes them feel uncomfortable about themselves so at the end of the day look we either believe what the bible teaches or we don't i don't care if greg locke convinces you you do not need to believe the words of greg locke you need to believe the words of god so when greg locke and god contradict you stick with god and you junk what greg locke said because it's the bible that we have to stand on it's the bible and it's interesting because here you have this entire context we're going to be done do you realize that while the book of acts was playing out it was during that time historically in the narrative that paul wrote romans first and second corinthians all the pauline it was during that time the book of acts is from the beginning to the end from the start of the church to the end of the ministry of the apostle paul and you know why there's only 28 chapters in the book of acts and it has no ending because we are acts chapter 29 we're the continuation of the local church in that day we're to do today what they did then and one of the things they did then was cast out evil spirits in the name of jesus and stand against witchery sorcery divination and the occult it's what they did it was the mark of who they were as a local church congregation it was the mark of it and i'm just saying it's going to have to be the mark of who we are because we have to believe what the bible says we have to believe what the bible teaches and when the bible teaches us something that's uncomfortable we have to incorporate it into our lifestyle no matter who it angers no matter who it upsets the prince of the power of the air is angry he's still blowing he's still whirling he's still doing all that he can to steal to kill and to destroy and it's time that the church in america gets off their hands and quits messing around and being lukewarm and nonchalant and casual and we repent confess our sins we get right with almighty god and we get enough holy ghost fire and power that we can stand up hold up a bible and say get out in jesus name and the demons of hell obey what we say because the power is in the name of jesus i said the power is in the name of jesus you believe that church get on your feet praise the
