nothing new how could i ((music playing)) express oh my gratitude i could sing these songs as i often do but every song must ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) ((music playing)) i've got just one ((music playing)) ((music playing)) is ((music playing)) ((music playing)) except for ((music playing)) ((applause)) oh we hallelujah you in this place that's all we have to get come not much except for a heartless ((music playing)) well give him some praise in the house tonight church amen he's good he's good hallelujah you may be seated thank you for being here for a midweek bible study and prayer and we always put an emphasis and a major premium on prayer at our church on wednesday night i tell you often everything we do in here is proof in the pudding as it were to what the lord's doing out there in that giant tent because jesus said my house should be a house of prayer amen it's one thing to be a house of praise and a house of preaching in a house of all of that but mainly he said my house should be a house of prayer and so as we pray i believe it not only ushers in the power and the presence and the protection of god i believe it is indicative that the lord wants to not just hear us pray he wants to answer our prayer and you have not because he asked not and so we got to get past this mindset in the evangelical world whatever broad stroking term that is that when god doesn't answer our prayer if we didn't pray that is not on him that is on us jesus is not a genie in a bottle but he is a good good father that wants to bless us wants to entrust us and enrich us and do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ever ask or think and so when he says ask and it shall be given you seek and ye shall find knock and it shall be open all three of those words are written in the continuous tense you say well i prayed and god didn't answer keep praying keep asking keep seeking keep knocking keep asking keep seeking keep knocking and so when we do that the bible says that god eventually will break through and sometimes well there's no sometimes god always answers you get one of three answers and one of them i can't stand yes no or wait how many of you would rather have a no than a weight amen i would i'd rather god say no can't have it son then just wait on it just wait on it no i have to remind myself be still be still and know that i'm god you see the steps of a good man are ordered by the lord but the stops of a good man are ordered by the lord too being still does not mean you're doing nothing it means you're not forcing anything and so sometimes we just have to be still and watch god work how many of you have had a rough week huh you had a rough couple of days some of you a few of you i figured that be the fact that's why you're here amen we're here because it's time to bear each other's burdens and so fulfill the law of christ i want to make this one announcement we do have the uh the children's activity that will be this week six to nine right here uh gv kids and youth be right here at the building miss maria and all of the workers and volunteers and so that'll be this friday night six o'clock to nine o'clock it says on here all ages the kona ice man's gonna be here man i might come back from st louis for that amen the kona ice man and uh there's gonna be all of the the games the movies the food you name it there's gonna be a lot of stuff for the kiddos so make sure that they are here speaking of that all of our boys and girls at this time can be dismissed for their elementary time with the lord and with miss maria so our boys and girls that aren't already back there they can go ahead because we're gonna we're gonna free up a few seats for people that will be coming in during worship and also give us a chance to all get together they'll have their prayer time in the back we just now started being able to have our young people again meeting on wednesday nights and so we praise the lord for that wednesday nights is the best kept secret at global vision bible church right we've not promoted it we don't put any ads behind it we don't say anything about it on facebook it's just a time when people can come and so if we start announcing it then we're going to have to move up to the 10th right because we're out of this little wedding chapel already just on a regular wednesday so all of our boys and girls go there after prayer and worship our students will actually go up to the student building and they'll meet with uh brother jesse and his dear wife and they're going to have a wonderful wonderful time but we're going to pray amen we're going to pray and we're going to ask the lord to do some great things in our midst we have a lot of wonderful people in the room tonight i know we do this on sunday mornings because there's you know so many hundreds and hundreds of people under the tent but uh how many of you tonight just for a wednesday night you're a visitor right you're you're not here on a regular ba would you stand up just for a moment all over the room so we can honor if you're just a just for our wednesday night bible study and you're here tonight thank you wow that is beautiful thank you so very very much for being here and it's always good to have preachers in the house we love preachers amen church amen we love preachers and uh we have two of my dear preacher friends tonight todd coconato i love that word right there amen i love brother todd he's a dear friend brother clayton jennings is in the house tonight amen dear friend of mine for a long time appreciate him so much and uh honor these men of god thank god that they are here tonight well i'm gonna have my beautiful wife help me with these prayer requests now if you're new uh to global vision let me explain to you the drill uh some of our folks pastor danny's away on a little bit of a of a little mini sabbath type of retreat for a couple of days to kind of get renewed and all of that and i know he heads up a lot of our prayer team but all those that are going to be on our prayer team tonight praying with folks over folks for folks they'll be right down here beside brother buford and brother jesse and so look if you walked into this room tonight with a burden it's your fault if you walk out with the same burden because we have people here tonight that are equipped to pray for you and pray over you lay hands on you and pray tonight whatever burden that you are facing in the mighty name of jesus can fall because don't you believe that god can relieve anxiety amen he can leave bitterness he can bless financially he can still heal we still can see miracle signs and wonders i used to discount that till god started doing it in spite of what i thought about it amen didn't have to ask my permission one bit and we've watched god do some amazing things i don't know about you but this past sunday i was a bit concerned about moving from the red and white tent to the white tent but but because it's so big i mean that's a daunting i had no idea that god was going to send that many people praise god and always hate it when we get another tent number i was like don't need a bigger tan preacher i'm like hey we just got in this thing but i'll tell you something i'm not trying to be spooky but i know when god does something this past sunday we shifted gears in this church we went to a whole new level on sunday morning i'm telling you it was unbelievable it was unbelievable those people standing in line to be baptized man miss billy man she didn't have enough towels we just kept on and kept on we had like 100 people saved 34 people baptized about 12 folks healed it was it was beautiful it's beautiful so i'm glad we have more space for now at least in that tent for for more altar area don't forget this coming saturday night the chairs aren't going to be in there because we got sean floyd in the house amen would let us worship supposed to be 4 000 people standing i don't know what we're going to do with the parking but it's going to be beautifully fun amen speaking of which before we pray and pass out these cards we need some folks to help us for like 20 or 30 minutes a night just stay right after we need to go up to the big tent we got to get those chairs up and get them in brother ron's trailer okay we got to have those chairs up we'll put them back out late on saturday night that'll be great we'll be back in in time to help with all of that but tonight we need to get those chairs up if you could stick around and help us that would be cool so if you need prayer at a moment tonight you come down here if you're going to pray for these prayer requests because how many of you know that people all over facebook and youtube and our social media we can find rest in you lord you are our strong tower our prince of peace and god we thank you for that lord we thank you for the mighty move of your spirit in our midst god such a beautiful time it has been to be in the house of the lord we can leave knowing and saying that we have tasted and seen the goodness of god and lord we come to you tonight god and we ask for more lord we want more of your presence we want more of your power god lord we're excited about what you've already done but god we have an expectation inside of us because we know that you're not even done yet lord and god we thank you for that we thank you that you are still showing up at the tomb of lazarus god we thank you that you can still make the death here and the lame speak and lord we just worship you in this place tonight god god we thank you that there is power in the blood of jesus and god that we can come to you and we can obtain mercy and grace from you lord god tonight no doubt so many burdens around the room all everybody watching online god there are so many things that we can live and fear about right now or we can live in discouragement about right now but god would we be reminded daily to stay kingdom minded to be focused on you lord looking unto jesus the author and finisher of our faith so lord in this time may we keep our eyes fixed on you that we could receive your vision god lord that we would not miss what you're doing in this time the enemy is came with the tactic of distraction of defeat but lord we know that we are more than conquerors through christ who loved us and god we have life and life more abundantly through you and so lord in the days to come may we remain focused on who you are would we consider you father in all things lord we lift you on high in this place you're the name above every name you are the lamb slain before the foundation of the world and lord we know that we can stand on your promise that one day you are going to come with fire in your eyes for your bride lord would we be ready would you purify us god would you give us pure hearts and give us clean hands father would our lamps be full of oil god would our worship go up to you father every single day not just when we come in here on wednesday or when we meet on sunday god would we worship you in spirit and in truth every single day because you are worthy of it all lord ((music give him some praise ((music playing)) ((applause)) amen and amen all right our students can be dismissed sixth grade up through the 12th grade you can be dismissed with brother jesse and his wife tonight up in the youth facility and so all of our students you can be dismissed for your time of wednesday night small group bible study as well while they're finding their place up on the hill i want you to find your place in one of the most overlooked forgotten simplistic books in the whole bible the book of name nahum the book of nahum want you to go there you say is that really in the bible yep it's really in the bible amen it's one of the minor prophets listen i will forgive you in advance pastorally if you have to go to the front of the bible and look up in the index where in the world is the book of nail amen and you'll find it between micah and habakkuk two other strange books that nobody likes to preach from but they're there nonetheless they're not called minor prophets because they're minor in detail or content they're called minor prophets because they're smaller than the major prophets right and so it's not that they're of less conviction value or importance they're just much much smaller books and because of that fact it's very you know indicative of the reason why we skip them because we think well you know they're not very important this is a book that is so wonderfully up to date you would think that it was rolling right out of a major city on the newspaper press this morning i'm telling you it is so up to date you know why because the bible is an up-to-date book amen it's not some antique that belongs in the basement of a vatican chain behind some bars no this is the word of the living god it's real it's vibrant it's alive the bible is just as alive as jesus is amen we got the written word we got the living word and they will never contradict each other and so tonight from the book of nahum i want to preach something that i trust the lord will use in a great mighty way i got a question for the folks up in the sound booth and so just give me the thumbs up this microphone that goes with this little deal right here does it work can it can you can people hear through it if somebody sings through that microphone is it possible if it's not we good let me test it what nope is it possible i can put this one in here would it would it hold in pastor and uh when i go to the big tent meetings with dr harrison he he plays a lot years ago he wrote a song it was kind of a breakout song that uh that the lord used to kind of go from the the gospel bill gaither flair into a little bit of the of the contemporary music and he wrote a song uh some of you will know if you know anything about gospel music it's called send the rain and uh the rochester's saying send the rain they were the first one to ever record it just an absolutely beautiful song and and i was thinking about tonight i'm like man he's he's been here on vacation for a couple of weeks and uh i didn't want to throw him on the spot so i decided to throw him on the spot anyhow hey man and just want him to sing this song send the ring i've been in his church uh in elkhorn and i've been uh to his he's the one that that put together the prey anyway uh when they tried to take the young lady's locker away that had bible verses on it and she made it all the way to to president trump's office amen and so they had the big rally and i went up and preached and and now there's there's dozens and dozens and dozens of those prey anyway lockers all over the place are we good guys we all right and uh i'm sorry to put you on the spot but i can put my friends on the spot and they'll still be my friends amen and i knew this was going to be one of his last services with us and so i just want him to sing because it is a beautiful picture of where we are right now in our church and i never want it to go away amen ((music playing)) check one check check ((music same background and it was kind of i was just so tired i was tired of pastoring i started going to church i was tired of it because i'm thinking it ain't worth this i'm tired of just the same old thing tradition wherein your name i'm tired of a man made worship tired and i'm tired of a song with no praise where worshiping you is out of place i'm tired of religious formality i'm tired so sin the rain and send the fire and stand away ((music playing)) ((music playing)) it's in the wind sin the holy ghost empire said the rain we're ready for revival lord we're ready to walk through that door we're ready lord oh let it pour we're ready lord and we're ready lord enough is enough we're ready to drink from that cup oh we're ready lord oh fill us up we're ready lord to sin the rain holy ghost in power oh man that better be more than just a song to us just a few verses or a nice little t-shirt man i'm telling you that better be the mantra the passion of our heart it's in the rain i i'm fully convinced and people say this all the time in reference to to our church and ministry and i i pray it's the truth i believe it's the truth and i stand in humility and say before you i i really believe we're just beginning to see the the groundswell of what god wants to do in this place and what god wants to do in this nation and what he wants to do in this world you know i know i've studied so much revival first great awakening second great awakening i don't want a third awakening i want the greatest awakening we've ever seen in the world amen i want to see more people come to christ through the power of the gospel than we've ever ever seen and i say wow i'm tired of man-made religion right i'm tired of denominational division i'm ready for the power of god to do what only the power of god could do and with that being said we want to talk a little bit about the power of god tonight from a book that's really all about judgment but it starts out beautiful it starts out beautiful you know sometimes you got to deal with some difficult subjects in order to see the the beauty of who god is the beauty of how god is working i call it brutal it's brutal and beautiful all at the same time amen so let's pray and we're going to jump right in the book of nahum chapter one for just a few moments tonight father thank you so much for the kind spirit of the people here tonight thank you for the many folks watching online i pray that they would feel and sense as if they were in this very room with us tonight well make your presence real to us we thank you for our time of worship we thank you most importantly for our time of prayer the lord is just it's beautiful to just listen to all of those voices at one time just praying or the crescendo of what it must be like in some small little way to be around the throne of god our minds will be blown when we bow in reverence before the thrice holy god of the universe may we never forget that may we see that in the text tonight and father i thank you for all that you're doing in our midst and we pray that you would continue to do more find us worthy humble repentive vessels people that you can trust so we can be people that you will bless may we protect what you're doing here may we protect the anointing of god because we know that the presence we protect is the presence we project and so we pray do more than you've ever done with us we pray in jesus name and all of god's people said the three chapters of the book of name like i said a moment ago are tucked away they're jewels they're treasure chests but sometimes they're avoided because they're very difficult the last two chapters are nothing but fall down the steps judgment field chapters but here's the interesting thing about the book of nahum it is written by nahum but it's written to the people of nineveh you've heard of them before have you not it's where jonah went and preached repentance for three days he preached an eight-worded sermon yet forty days and then of a shall be overthrown yet forty days and nineveh shall be overthrown yet forty days and after those three days of preaching the same message eight words over and over and over and over again over six hundred thousand people that were so spiritually ignorant they didn't know their left hand from their right hand the bible says from the king all the way down to the skid row homeless pauper they all got completely radically redeemed and transformed they called the time of fasting and prayer and even made their animals sit down in sackcloth and ashes it was an unbelievable revival and so he went not wanting to go god changed his heart because how many of you know god works in spite of us not because of us it's not because we're groovy and wonderful and you know we have all of this opportunity in these talents it's because god wants to get the message out and he will use any means necessary to get the message out even crazy mean-spirited people like jonah because jonah let's face it wanted all of them to die he sits on a cliff and dangles his feet and he says oh my goodness i can't believe that you let this vegetable this gourd wither away because now the east wind is going to beat down on my head and god shows up and shows out and says let me tell you something bucko i added the buckle let me tell you something bucko he said you know what your problem is you've had compassion on a vegetable and you get mad at me for having compassion on 600 000 people that didn't know their left hand from the right hand and god was simply just being god and i think it's time the church lets god be god again amen and he saved every one of them people and so revival came i mean these were vicious violent vitriolic people and revival came changed the whole nation for 150 years and nahum is written exactly 150 years after you have the rendition of the book of jonah 150 years later and now there is going to be zero revival nothing but judgment because the overwhelming theme of the bible that we must understand in our study together tonight is this judgment may be delayed but judgment will come the lord is long-suffering not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance and so he gave these people 150 more years and what did they do the same thing this nation and the world has done we've taken it for granted anybody ever been to europe in this room anybody ever been to europe a few of us look it was the epicenter of awakening it was revival land i mean the word of god the gospel was thundered from the pulpits and not just people like c.h spurgeon but you have evan roberts you have all of these amazing people that ushered in the power of god whereby millions of people were affected if you go to england today it is dead as a hammer it is dry as cracker juice there's no power there i've preached there and it's like preaching in a vacuum it's like you're preaching in the mirror you have to aim in yourself because nobody will grunt you can hear a nap burp in england tonight in a service and you think how can you have a place a whole nation that was a bastion of revival and now it's dead and cold and dry because even nineveh after 150 years got to a place where they got complacent and casual with what god had done for them and you better know that is exactly where we are in this nation right now and you remember when jesus performed one miracle on the maniac of videra remember what the people said get in that boat and get out of here jack you get in that rickety raft and you leave he didn't stay there for a month he didn't put up a tent draw 3 000 people he didn't perform 50 miracles he performed one they said get in that boat and leave and guess what jesus did not do he did not argue with them he got in the boat and he left because jesus does not stay where jesus is not wanted that's the truth and america better figure that out america better figure that out and so you have 150 years that has gone by strict judgment is going to come in chapter two chapter three perhaps we'll get to that in another bible study it will not be tonight because tonight will be a little bit more uplifting i pray look at chapter one verse one the burden of nineveh now it's not nineveh's burden it's the burden that god's about to place upon nineveh the burden was from god because when you get in trouble with greg locke big deal you get in trouble with god you better pay attention and he was about to place the burden of judgment upon nineveh the book of the vision of nahum the elkoshi god is jealous and the lord revengeth then he repeats himself the lord revengeth how many of you know that god is better at getting vengeance for you than you are listen let's be honest all of us want a little zapping power sometimes don't we i'd love to have some sap people just zap them down right we all want that but you know what when i try to fix a problem i make it worse but when you just keep your mouth shut and understand the battle is the lord's stand still and he will fight for you and this day you shall see them no more the bible says when we just stand still let god do what god does the bible says he is furious the lord will take vengeance on his adversaries and he reserveth wrath for his enemies we don't like to talk about that listen i appreciate so much the love of god but what good is the love of god if there's no reason for the love of god the love of god only makes sense if you have the wrath of god that balances it because the bible says plainly in ephesians 2 we're dead we are doomed we are damned we are depraved we are disobedient but god who is rich in mercy for his great love wherewith he loved us even when we were dead in sins hath quickened us together with christ for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of your sales it is the gift of god not of works unless any man should boast everyone why god puts that in the bible lest any man should boast because god knows me if i save myself i'd brag about it don't push your lip out you would do i'd get to heaven i'd have a wheelbarrow with all kind of crowns i'd be like whoa good giggly wiggly what's not a good person no there's none that doeth good but one and that is god the bible says anything good in me god did it anything rotten in me greg locke did every single bit of it and by the way that goes for you too so say amen all right i know your number praise god now watch this verse three the lord is slow to anger which tells me two things he does get angry he just doesn't like you at the moment he's slow to anger he really is a patient god thank god for that he is great in power and will not at all acquit the wicked now i know it's bible study it's not temp revival time and so we can take our time and just kind of unpackage a few things here this is important to understand that he said he will not at all acquit the wicked no that means it seems like they're getting away with it but god's going to get the last laugh psalm 2 he that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh the lord shall have them in derision you know people have a hard time with that like oh my goodness how can you say that one day god is going to laugh at the calamity of the wicked because for years they have laughed at the suffering of his son and they have scoffed jesus and they are still spitting on jesus as a culture and they still think we've lost our minds and gone buckwild crazy for even meeting in this room tonight especially in the days of a pandemic we all meet together in a room and they say you're crazy god's gonna get the last laugh it won't be the republicans that get it it won't be the democrats jesus is gonna get the last laugh one day there's no doubt about that he gets the final say he gets the final word you ever heard somebody say well i'll tell you one thing only god can judge me yeah that better scare your socks off because he will i ain't got to stand before you that's why i ain't scared of you i gotta stand before him right and so he says the lord is slow to anger great in power will not acquit the wicked so he's his day's coming the lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm i love this verse and the clouds are the dust of his feet i like to freakily use that one on airplanes often there's been times i'll be sitting there and i'll just casually say oh we just missed him [laughter] because the clouds are the dust of his feet you've seen them big old huge poofy cumulus clouds they're simply the dust of god's feet that's a big god that's a powerful god and nahum is by the way building them up to chapter two in chapter three because the people did not recognize what judgment looked like nor did they anticipate god was really going to send it and so here's what he does in chapter one he builds up how big god is and when they get the wow factor he then says in chapter two and chapter three guess what that wow god is gonna kill every one of you now that's not a message we like to hear but we're talking today on the podcast with clayton the reason a lot of people don't want to accept jesus is because we are offering people the cure before we convince them they have a disease for which they need a cure we can't even convince the world that they're lost that they're dead in their sin and so we're walking up saying look we have the cure they're like we're not even sick you got to convince this nation they're sick and once you convince people that they're lost then you give them the remedy and the remedy is not a way it's the one and only way john 14 6 is jesus christ and so here in the context he's building him up he's building up the sovereignty of god he's building up the power of god he's building up the holiness of god and when he gets to this climactic moment he's like do you agree with this and they're like yes he's like good that god is going to slay all of you unless you repent now i know that's not fun preaching but it's balanced preaching jesus was the perfect balance of grace and truth not too much grace not too much truth perfect balance of both speak the truth in what love but don't speak love at the expense of truth because if you do that it's not loving nor is it truthful and so he's building god's character up which by the way is beautiful preaching because people say well you know we just don't see revivals like we used to well it's because we don't have the same message that they used to preach you ever read sinners in the hands of an angry god wow you don't see that one on the bestseller book list right you ever heard george whitfield you ever read some of george whitfield stuff richard baxter the wesley brothers whoa these cats had one message the holiness of god the sinfulness of man the holiness of god the sinfulness of man god is holy you are not you can only be made holy and have access to god through the blood of his son the lord jesus christ and guess what happened somewhere along the line in the 1900s we flipped the script and went to a motivational pop psychology let's all sell cars and insurance gospel because it makes people feel better about their sin and the church in america knows just enough bible to go to hell with it knows just enough bible to be dangerous to itself american churches are filled with legalistic religion do this do this do this don't do this don't do this do this wear this don't go here don't do this and what we have done is we've created performance-based believers if i perform enough then that's proof that i've been saved the only problem is you'll never perform enough to please the people that wanted you to perform to begin with there'll always be more that you have to do and you'll be miserable you don't have to perform you know why jesus already performed curtain closed it's over with he did for us what we could not do for ourselves he that knew no sin became sin for us that we might be made the righteous you don't have to keep doing he's already done it he's already done it and so he's building up the character of god he's building up the power of god which is the message verse four he rebuketh the sea even jesus did that he said unto the waves peace be still he maketh it dry he drieth of all the rivers beishan languishes and caramel and the flower of lebanon that's not our lebanon that's this lebanon languisheth although sometimes i think it's pretty barren too but that's verse five the mountains quake at him wow you ever met somebody like that i met some pretty cool people i know some uber famous people and ain't no mountain ever shook when they walk by never the mountains quake at the presence of god that's a big god and the heels melt and the earth is burned at his what his presence remember moses said lord i'm going to step on a limb here and i'm going to ask you for one very important prayer request show me your glory and god's like can't do it no man can look upon my glory and live we can never see his full glory until we have a glorified body our eyes our heart our mind our stress level our anxiety couldn't contain it we'd explode in a second and so he said i'll tell you what i'm gonna do more hygiene iraq that song rock of ages cleft for me let me hide myself in thee he said i'm on a high general rock i'm gonna put my hand over you and i'm gonna pass by you and i'm gonna move my hand and the bible says that moses be held get this king james the hinder parts of god god left a trail of glory moved his hand and moses opened his eyes and saw the backside of god just the hinder parts of the lord come off a mountain and people had to make a veil to cover his face up they're like bing bing bing bing bing bing looked like a light presence yea the world and all that dwell therein isaiah had something to say about it in chapter six and verse one in the year the kingdoms i died i saw us the lord high lifted up at his train filled the temple above it the train the glory of god the throne stood six seraphims each one having six wings or three separates each one have six wings with twenty covered his feet with twenty covered his face with twenty did fly and one cried instead of the other holy holy holy that's all they say holy holy holy by the way they're saying the same thing in revelation chapter 13 holy holy holy is the lord god of host the whole earth is full of his glory and the post the post moved at the voice of him that spake and the house was filled with smoke strange things happen when the presence of god shows up your bulletin goes out the window i'll tell you what i'm learning i'm learning you can have the whole thing prayed about you can have the whole thing pre-arranged you can have it all planned we're going to do this we're going to do this we're going to do this and god said no i'm going to do this just show up show out fix the whole thing ((applause)) he shakes things he burns things that's the power of god the whole world one day is going to recognize this fact and i want to say this because i know sometimes i come off as a jerk for jesus and i get super demonstrated about things i don't i don't know these things to be true just because i want to shove them down people's throats and be like hahaha i told you no no i don't preach i told you gospel i preach it god told you gospel god told you he gave you a space of grace he gave you a chance repent you didn't that's on you not on me every bucket sits on its own bottom romans when he says you are that excuse you can't blame me you can't blame trump you can't blame your spouse you can't blame biden you can't blame anybody but the person you look at in the mirror every man will be without excuse why because the heavens declare the glory of god and the firmament show with his handiwork you just got to look up and know there's a holy god in heaven he reveals himself through natural creation man there's a lot of preach right here in a book we never even talk about right wow just in the introduction that's as far as we're gonna get tonight but notice what happens in verse six who can stand before his indignation rhetorical question nobody nobody nobody can stand before the indignation of god okay you could probably hold up okay in a ufc smackdown to the map with me but you ain't gonna hold up with god you're just not who can stand he says before his indignation who can abide in the fierceness of his anger nobody his fury is poured out like fire you ever notice how many times in the bible the presence of god is likened to fire and smoke fire consumes you a fire doesn't care who or what gets in its way it just burns it all up okay a fire has no friends it doesn't care doesn't matter how it started it just consumes that's its nature and the nature of god is that he is an all-consuming fire that's why when he gives you an all-consuming fire you can get thrown in the pit two times like jeremiah and when you get out flip your hat around and be like i tell you one thing god you deceived me i'm out of here i'm done but his word was in my heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones and i was weary with forbearing and i could i say the consuming fire of god became a consuming fire to jeremiah and he couldn't keep his mouth shut if he wanted to remember luke chapter 24 we preached on it just a few weeks ago under the red and white circus tent amen i miss it already those disciples didn't even know who they were talking to and the bible says that jesus beginning at the old testament preached unto them concerning himself all the scriptures jesus expository verse by verse line by line chapter by chapter passage by passage described himself through the whole bible and they didn't even know who he was so then they got to this room jesus comes walking right through the wall and they're like whoa now we know who this guy is the eyes were open the scales fell away they matured for the moment and they said and i quote did not our hearts burn within us when he spake the word of god to us by the way there's just something about the fire of god when it catches you it'll burn you and everybody you come in contact with in the right way it'll burn out some nonsense some sin some rebellion some disability it'll burn it out and it'll bring forth the treasured things to the top it'll burn out all the dross and all the nonsense holding you back and he said he's a consuming fire the rocks are thrown down by him then he says in verse 7 the lord is good i like that you know i don't ever want to get away from simple stuff like that in the bible you know sometimes preachers try to razzle people oh i got something new well it ain't true then because if it's new it ain't true if it's true it ain't new nothing new under the sun ecclesiastes playing about that why is this man in the world said that we got to get back to the simplicity of the bible it don't get any more simple than this the lord well he's just good he said when's he good all the time he's good because when things aren't good god still is it doesn't matter if your car starts doesn't matter what happens in your house no matter what's going on in your marriage no matter what you struggle with has no bearing on the fact that god is still good when things are not good and sometimes life isn't good but god's good when we sing he's a good good father we mean he's a good good father and some of you miss that not just in the song but in the reality of your life because i'm just going to say i said this it's been several months ago but i feel letting my spirit say it right now some of you can't understand the goodness of father god because you view him through the lens of a poor father that you grew up with your father corrupted you as far as your mindset about a father and so now you think your heavenly father operates the same way as your did your earthly father but he didn't operate that way you've got to burn all that lens to the ground and approach god and understand he is all loving he is all forgiving he is never going to say i told you so grace never says i told you so never says i told you so and god's grace is abundant and no matter what we're facing the goodness of god romans 2 4 is the very thing that leads us to repentance i mean if we just sit around and just pulled out you know pencil and paper said okay i'm going to write down 10 things about god's goodness you would write down 10 000 things and just be in the introduction you know why because the lord is good period exclamation the lord is good but he's also a stronghold in the day of trouble you ever had one of them i live like weeks of trouble months of trouble years of trouble it seems like sometimes trouble trouble trouble trouble everywhere you look right trouble on every hand he said he is a stronghold in the day of trouble which means he's bigger than the trouble he's bigger than the day of trouble he's bigger than what causes the trouble because greater is he that is in you than he is in the world god be for us who can be against us and sometimes we think that our trouble is bigger than our god oh no our trouble is an opportunity for god to show how big he really is and by the way no matter what he's ever delivered you from you've seen nothing yet he's just getting started good and so he's a strong home the day of trouble and he knoweth them that trust in him i just stopped giving invitation right there he knoweth them that trusted him you know sometimes my wife has this phrase that she'll she'll use and uh she's said it to the kids or to me or in counseling i've heard her say it she'll say i see you because sometimes people just need to be seen they just need to know that what they're doing has value and say something he sees you he sees you remember little zacchaeus a little up in the tree this little guy sitting up in a tree right hiding out waiting this is a grown man i say groan he's but he's a grown man he's an adult man in a tree the bible says that jesus came walking by to that very place that place not a place not some place that place because god knows where you're at here's what the bible says jesus stopped looked up and saw him and said unto him zacchaeus he didn't say unto him hey son what's your name he didn't say hey you got a name tag son he looked up saw him and said hey zacchaeus get out of the tree dude slide down that tree like a fireman on a brass pole i'm going to your house you're cooking we're going to talk and dude got saved that day but jesus said i see you i see you he knoweth them that put their trust in him he knows what your bank account looks like he knows what the doctor's going to say before he says it he knows and the problem is we try to play god and act like we know and when you play god and act like you know when you don't know you will make decisions that are unwise and unspiritual because you have got to stop playing god there are two things that are true in life number one there is a god number two you are not him we got to stop playing god he's sovereign we're not he knows those that trust in him he's got everything under control even when it looks like nothing is under control but this is so important i'm going to transition here we're not going to be much longer but with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof and darkness shall pursue his enemies look i'm not a theologian but i got enough hillbilly sense to understand that he's talking about nineveh for the historical deliverance of the nation of judah i get that but principles in the bible run true for every nation because my bible says that god shall turn into hell all nations that forget him so the principle doesn't change in the bible just because the nationality or the ethnic background changes right he can be talking about america africa egypt ethiopia russia china afghanistan it doesn't matter he will turn into hell all the nations that forget god and so he will consume and pursue after with utter darkness his enemies which would tell me something that most people don't want to talk about god has enemies there's enemies to the cross there's enemies of the gospel and by the way let me say this the enemies of the cross are not the other churches down the road that do things differently than we do we're not in competition we're in cooperation you understand right the body of christ is so divided we're not even fighting the right enemy these days we're fighting everybody else we're fighting each other and letting the enemies run rampant and the enemy loves it because the enemy don't have to fight us because we're killing each other we're shooting our wounded we're beating our own sheep and he said look i am going to pursue after my enemy so guess what you ain't got to run after him because god's going to run after him people ask me what time my goodness how do you sleep with all the pressure how do you sleep with all the death threats how do you sleep with all of this and all of that i don't i sleep right beside my wife and sleep just fine because god will pursue after my enemies and i ain't got to defend myself i used to think i had to defend myself every time i'd see an article i'd have to fix this i ain't got to fix it vengeance is mine saith the lord i will repay you let god take care of the enemies because at the end of the day they're not your enemies they're god's enemies they hate you because you love him remember last week we talked about things jesus really did and did not say he said people are going to hate you but not for your name's sake for his namesake so just word is about your honor and keep rocket on and quit worrying about people unfriending you on facebook they ought to unfriend you at least once a day you ought to have people on facebook that don't like you at least once a day i'm telling you if jesus were alive today he would have the most glorious facebook ministry on the planet he'd have like 10 blue check marks i'm telling you jesus instigated trouble at times to stir up people and find out what their heart really was and so he said look i'm gonna chase my enemies down i'm gonna catch them watch this verse nine what do you imagine against the lord he will make another end he's like look come up with anything you want to come with any plan you want to dr fauci come up with any plan you want make up anything you want what do you imagine against the lord oh we're going to destroy the church we're going to shut them down you're going to shut ours down you can shut down ten thousand other ones twenty thousand you're gonna show us down what do you imagine against the lord they can come up with any evil invention they want to but god's bigger god's more shrewd listen god allows us to get out ahead of the curve and figure things out before the old sly enemy comes in be sober be vigilant because your adversary of the devil has a roaring lion walk with about seeking whom he made of hour how do we defeat the one that wants to devour humble yourselves under the mighty hand of god he will exalt you the bible says and so we walk in humility we walk in repentance and we see the schemes of the enemy all around us he said listen you can imagine whatever you want to but it ain't gonna work he will make a utter end affliction shall not rise up the second time now you might want to grab a hold of what he just said he said affliction from god shall not rise up the second time you know why because the first time is going to be all it needs god's like granddaddy i'm going to say it once and if i have to say it twice you're gonna wish i only had said it once and god said look affliction is not even gonna have to come twice because the first time it's gonna desolate all of you god said i'm done with it and when god's done he's done i know bargaining with god right when he's done he's done he's like i'm going to destroy you because you forgot me after 150 years after a great revival it's a great awakening you forgot me and there's going to be no need for a second time because i'm going to show up and i'm going to plunder the whole thing for while they be folding together we're almost done for while they be folding together coming together as crowds as groups as thorns and while they are drunk as drunkards they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry we're like oh my goodness there's so many more of them than there are of us wrong answer god's got it who or what shall separate us from the love of god nothing no scheme no dream no plan no no steam nothing nothing shall separate us and although we cannot do it in ourselves we look at the news which probably you shouldn't the newspaper get on twitter and tick tock facebook everything these days it's just so oh my goodness it's so barren isn't it you look at you're like oh my goodness they're all gathering together they're coming against us and god's like know it's like i'm going to incinerate i don't know why we lay around and worry about stuff god's already said he's got taken care of we're like fretting and chewing our fingernails for the quick we got basketball size ulcers we're sucking a half a bottle of nyquil to sleep for three hours what are we gonna do we're gonna do we're just gonna trust god he still raises the dead he still cleanses people that are sick he still parts the waters of the red sea still providing he still gives water out of a rock he's still god he's still on the throne he's still coming again and the reason he has to come again is because we've messed everything up he gave us the keys to the truck we put in the ditch and he's got to show back up to fix it he said i'm just going to devour all of them watch this we're almost done there is one come out of the he's talking about coming out of nineveh there is one that's going to come out of thee that imagineth he's talking about the king of assyria this historically there's one that comes out of thee that imagineth evil against the lord a wicked counselor he's like you know what you got a counselor you've got a leader that's coming out of the the main hub assyria the the place of of refuge for the ninevites you got the capital get the nashville if you will he's coming out and he devises and imagines evil against the lord he's a wicked counselor there's one that's going to come up does that not seem familiar wicked counselors everywhere we're going to shut you down we're going to silence you we're going to de-platform you we're going to whatever their nefarious plan is thus saith the lord verse 12 though they be quiet stealthy that they're doing this behind the scenes and likewise many they can be stealthy and many yet thus shall they be cut down when he shall pass through no i have a flick of thee i will afflict thee no more he says to judah in the middle of this situation as the nunavites are over them and oppressing them he's like look let me say something judah uh i'm going to pass by destroy them and i'm going to deliver you lickety-split let's go time to ride to the house kids and i don't care what happens god's going to protect his people jesus is coming for his bride and he is going to protect his bride yeah they'll be persecution because all that live godly in christ jesus shall suffer persecution and i want you to understand get your eschatology out of the gutter all this willy-nilly idea that we're never going to see any problems we're never going to see any persecution that's nonsense i don't care what you believe about when jesus is coming we are promised to be delivered from the wrath of god not from the wrath of man we will be persecuted by man but we will not experience the wrath of god because we're the bride of christ and so in this context he's like look i'm going to take care of i'm going to deliver my people it's what i do i don't forget my kids watch this verse 13. we're almost done for now say now will i break his yoke from off thee and will burst out bonds and sunder he's like look you're burdened down you're weighted down i'm gonna break the yoke how many of you ever heard the phrase we talked about tonight it's the anointing that breaks the yoke yes it is ((music playing)) i'm gonna tell you why the enemy i'm not talking about greg locke okay this ain't greg locke's deal this is god's deal i'm gonna tell you why the enemy hates our church because it's an anointed congregation that's why and the devil's not after me the devil's not after you the devil's not after that t he's after the anointing is what he's after that's what he wants he wants to destroy the anointing because the anointing destroys the enemy and god said i'm gonna break the yo we're getting laid i gotta quit getting stirred up i gotta get out of here praise god i gotta go to saint louis amen i gotta go to saint louis and the lord hath given a commandment verse 14 concerning thee that no more of thy name be sown out of the house of the gods will i cut off the graven image and the molten image i will make thy grave for thou art vile god said i'm going to expose the idolatry amongst my people it took him about 18 months to do that shut down all the sports venues shut down all the movies shut down all the pretty church buildings with the high-tech redneck stuff that we worship so much and we found out all you need is a tent and the power of god's all you need that's all you need you'll need the rest of it you gotta have all that idols he showed us real quick who was in control verse 15. behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings that publisheth peace he's about to give them two chapters of judgment he's going to call it peace you see there's some people that don't want peace with you they want a piece of you learn the difference you walk away from them toxic people we preached last week quit letting people say well you know the bible says blessed are the peacekeepers no it doesn't he said blessed are the peacemakers peacekeepers are status quo folks that never want to rock the boat peacemakers have to rock the boat because if you're going to be a peacemaker you've got to throw out what's keeping the peace from being made to begin with we are peacemakers not peacekeepers i'm not called the status quo casual christian i'm called to be a peacemaker and if you're going to make peace sometimes you got to slay some enemies that are keeping the peace from the house right so he said look it's going to be peaceful oh judah keep thy solemn feasts perform thy vows for the wicked shall no more pass through thee he is utterly cut off is he redeeming his people in this context absolutely but the principle is he always redeems his people he always protects his people he always overshadows his people so i don't know what's going to happen tomorrow i've got a few interesting things to share with you on sunday under the tent i'm telling you just when you think things can't get any more crazy around here it goes 10 levels higher it's just getting started but i'll tell you what's going to happen i'm going to sleep through all of it like a like a baby i'm going to keep preaching we're going to keep prophesying we're going to keep leading people we're going to keep being the most generous church you've ever been a part of we're going to keep loving folks and loving folks and loving folks and loving folks and we're going to keep on expanding and watch god just simply do what god does because at the end of the day he wins god wins in the end and when you boil it all down we've all read the back of the book and it does not end with the word oh me it ends with the word amen father thank you tonight for bible study and prayer i pray that you would bless these folks wonderfully immeasurably for being here bless the homes the families they represent lord
