"Sin Consciousness vs. Innocence Consciousness" - Episode 2 is brought to you in part by the partners and friends of Crelo Dollar Ministries. Coming up next on Changing Your World. The law makes you sin. ((music playing)) It was given to Listen, it's trying to bring you to Jesus Christ. The law was given to show you you can't live the life you trying to live without him. And the more you struggle to keep it, the more sin you would do. It's so great to have Dr. Dollar here, the Spirit and Grace tour and ((music playing)) the grace gang in town. >> Just about everybody that gave their testimony and asking questions and getting answers. I was getting some of the answers I needed. It was like an atmosphere of freedom. ((music playing)) I would encourage people to come. >> The Spirit and Grace Tour with Crelo Dollar is coming to a city near you. Only 500 seats and they are going fast. Register now at spiritandgrace.com. This is your world. So let's vow [singing] to make it a better place. Let every heart that needs to know your love is here to stay. It's time we live a new life. Let us love shine bright in you. We're saved by his grace. So we embrace your love today. We are changed. [singing] >> Uh let's go to our text for this series. 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 15 and 34. 1 Corinthians 1 verse 15 and And uh excuse me I'm 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verse 34. I don't know what I just said. 1 Corinthians chapter 15 and verse 34. Now follow me carefully. He says awake to righteousness. Huh? Could it be that while we were in sin consciousness we were unconscious to righteousness? awake to righteousness. And he says when you become aware of your righteousness and you're up, you're awake, then you'll sin no more. So, one of the reasons for the sin in your life and all the stuff that's going in your life and the trauma and all of that stuff is because of sin consciousness. And he's trying to say, "Wake up to innocence consciousness and sin not, for some have not the knowledge OF GOD." NOW SIN, the law gives you the knowledge of sin, but some have not the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. Now, Paul is calling believers to awake, which implies a shift from unconsciousness to consciousness. Say amen if you understand what I just said. Amen. >> So this could mean wake up from sin consciousness. Wake up from sin consciousness which keeps people trapped in guilt AND FAILURE. WAKE UP FROM sin consciousness which keeps people trapped into condemnation. Wake up. Wake up uh from uh uh sin consciousness and wake up to innocence consciousness which recognizes RIGHTEOUSNESS IN CHRIST. WAKE UP TO INNOCENCE CONSCIOUSNESS. WAKE UP TO REDEMPTION. Wake up to grace. Wake up to everything that Jesus has done for you. So the phrase awake to righteousness, it could it suggest that righteousness, if you're going to awake to something, could it suggest that righteousness is already a reality? >> I am waking up to something that already is a reality. But many people aren't aware that it's already a reality. He's not saying wake up so you can create righteousness. HE IS SAYING WAKE UP TO WHAT'S ALREADY BEEN MADE AVAILABLE. >> WAKE UP TO RIGHTEOUSNESS. I'M NOT ASKING you to fix it. I'm not asking you to conjure it up. I'm not asking you to be good ENOUGH TO GET IT. I'm just asking you to WAKE UP. >> WAKE UP to what has already been done. >> All right. Now, did everybody get that? Now, sin consciousness keeps people in an unconscious state, living as if sin still defines them. So, if you're sin conscious, then you keep living and allowing sin to define you. And so, you're being defined by sin. If you have a sin conscience, you're you're letting your shame define you. You're letting your condemnation define you. You're letting your guilt define you. You're letting your bad behavior from 12 years ago define you. And he's saying, "Wake up. You're being deceived. You're not defined by those things." So Paul's exhortation is for believers to step into the awareness of their true identity in Christ where sin loses its dominion because they are no longer living under the law but under grace. Living under grace causes you to lose the dominion of sin. But living under grace and losing the dominion of sin is going to cause you to wake up from sin consciousness. You are aware of your sin. YOU ARE SO AWARE of sin. You're not only are you aware of sin, but you you're aware of sin. You you're scared you're going to go to hell for it. You're just aware of it. You you just there's something's wrong IF PEOPLE DON'T PREACH SIN. AND THAT'S THAT'S PEOPLE'S PROBLEM WITH ME. YOU NEED TO PREACH SIN and and get people to be more accountable to their sin. SIN. YOU NEED TO PREACH SIN AND TEACH THEM TO BE ACCOUNTABLE TO THEIR SIN. NOW, I AIN'T GOT NO PROBLEM WITH YOU being accountable if you your sin hurt somebody. But I want to know how to be accountable to what Jesus has done. >> Amen. >> And the more I stand up here and preach sin to you, listen, I don't have to tell you about your sin. You know when you did something, >> I ain't got to get up here and tell you what it was wrong when you did that. You knew it while you were doing it. I we we act like we have to do that. You just must tell you about your sin cause you too dumb to know you sin. I don't want to come to church unless I'm motivated by fear, which I'm I'm sin conscious. I don't want to come to church just to hear you keep talking about my sin >> and telling me how bad I am and say you ought to be ashamed of yourself. You see the problem the pull pits turned into the catalyst that pumps and nourishes sin consciousness because we keep preaching to you about your sin. You know that ain't right. You know God don't like ugly. You know that we got that Santa Claus Christianity. You better watch out. You better not pout. He come and get you. He got a monkey that going to put pepper in your eye. You got you. And we're so aware of of of of sin that people are even help me Lord. I'm I'm going to say this. You got to help me. That people are are even getting born again from their sin consciousness based in fear. >> That is true. >> Amen. That is true. >> I'm afraid I'm going to hell. That's right. >> So now I'm gonna get saved. So you come into Christ through the door of hell. >> Wow. Wow. because we did a rotten job >> of teaching you >> and we just were afraid to say something that somebody hadn't already said. Oh, and bishop, especially if they went to seminary school. Oh, we don't dare. They have a doctorate in seminary school >> so that they can get a degree and continue to keep you in sin consciousness. I'm so sorry that happened. And if we don't get delivered from our sin, their churches filled with thousands of people who are more aware of sin than they are aware that they have been pardoned, declared innocent. And I'm going to say this a few times in this series, but because of what Jesus did, sin is no longer on the agenda. Cuz when Jesus resurrected from the dead, he didn't give us an invoice. He gave us a receipt. ((cheering)) ((applause)) >> HE DIDN'T GIVE US AN INVOICE. >> HE GAVE US A RECEIPT SAYING IT'S ALL BEEN PAID FOR NOW. BUT WE'RE NOT AWARE OF THAT. WE ARE AWARE OF THE INVOICE. GOSH. [sighs] Oh gosh. So, uh, sin consciousness, awareness of sin, awareness of a system that was only supposed to be there for a minute. So Paul's exhortation is for believers to step into the awareness of them, of their true identity in Christ. So if we haven't stepped in our true identity in Christ, what we in sin loses its dominion because they are no longer living under the law but under grace because the law nourishes is sin consciousness by by the law is the knowledge of sin and you are aware of the knowledge of sin. Now let's look at Romans chapter 6. And I don't want to go too fast but I want to make sure that we cover every corner that we can possibly cover. Romans chapter 6 starting at verse 14. Romans 6:14. And uh I want to read this out of the uh mirror translation. Romans 6:14. So you know a lot about sin. Mama preached it to you. God don't like ugly. Grandmama preached it to you. The songs told you, you know, this train is a clean train. [laughter] This train all our lives we don't we we we've been trained in the knowledge of sin and we carry sin consciousness. But say we're believers, what we believe in. Now listen to Romans chapter 6 verse 14. [clears throat] Sin was your master while the law was your measure. Now grace rules. The King James says that we're no longer under the law, but we're under grace. Sin was your master while the law was your measure. Because from the law comes the knowledge of sin, right? Sin is your master while the law was your measure. We were being measured by the law. But he says, "Now that you're born again, grace rules." Right? Now watch this. So the law revealed your slavery to sin. Now grace reveals your your freedom from it. Right? All right. Verse 15. Being under grace and not under the law most certainly does not mean that you now have a license to sin. But you're not going to want to. We're not looking for a license to sin. We're just trying to figure out how this thing works. >> But sin consciousness is on you so big that you REJECT WHAT WHAT GRACE offers to you because you know it IT OFFERS JUST TOO MUCH. I MEAN, WE'RE SINNERS SAVED BY GRACE. YOU STILL CALL YOURSELF A sinner and you're born again. Now, if you got born AGAIN AND YOU'RE STILL identifying as a sinner, then why didn't you just stay like you were? What good was it to get born again if you were going to have a same identity? >> The truth of the matter is you are no longer a sinner. YOU WERE SAVED BY GRACE. >> And now that you HAVE BEEN SAVED BY GRACE, THAT IS NOT YOUR IDENTITY ANYMORE. YOU ARE a new creation. You are, the Bible literally says you are a saint. >> So quit calling yourself what you are not anymore. >> Well, you know, brother Dollar, WE ARE ALL JUST SINNERS saved by grace. Speak for yourself. Why? Well, what what what brings a phrase like that? Sin consciousness. You just woke up IN THE MORNING. IT'S 5:00 IN THE MORNING. FATHER, FORGIVE ME FOR THE SINS I HADN'T EVEN DONE YET. WHY WOULD anybody pray a prayer like that? Sin consciousness, more aware of sin. [sighs] Wow. He says, "So being under grace is not under the and not under the law most certainly does not mean that you now have a license to sin." See, we we we didn't factor the Holy Spirit. You think that, oh, I need the law so I won't sin. But the law was given to make you sin. That scripture I ain't got time to turn around right. The law makes you sin. It was given to Listen, it's trying to bring you to Jesus Christ. The law was given to show you you can't live the life you're trying to live without him. Mhm. >> And the more you struggle to keep it, the more sin you would do. >> What's that? 1 Corinthians uh 15:56 about the Turn there right quick. 1 Corinthians 15:56. We'll go back right there in the King James. I mean, yeah, in the King James. I mean, it it look what he says about about sin. Um, what did I just say? First 1 Corinthians 15:56. That's the right one. >> 15. Yes, sir. He says, "The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law." The law was not supposed to ever make you perfect. The law wasn't supposed to make you flawless. The strength of sin is the law. The law strengthens sin and sin consciousness. That's what the law does. YEAH. WELL, BROTHER JOHN, NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY, I'M I'M GOING KEEP THE MOSAIC LAW. WELL, YOU AIN'T GOT TO TELL ME WHAT YOU'RE DOING CUZ I KNOW YOU'RE SINNING. That That's not the cutest thing. The the law is like medical dye. They stick it in your veins, not as a cure, but so you can see what's wrong with you. The law is like medical diet. is to show you what's wrong with you. See, church has become this thing, this thing that people come to try to get an emotional good feel and you go away. But it it should have been this school like it is right now so you can learn something. So you can get out of that sin consciousness >> and and see if I was hooping and holl not here but most of the places I have to do an extreme presentation just to get them to pay attention to the little truth. I'm going to put it there CUZ PEOPLE DON'T COME TO CHURCH TO learn nothing. They come to feel something. And so the people who CAN MAKE THEM FEEL THE MOST, THEY GOT THE BIGGER CROWDS BECAUSE YOU AIN'T HERE TO TRY TO LEARN NOTHING. I ALREADY KNOW WHAT I KNOW. AND THEN folks who just got born again, still dripping water, just got out of the baptism pool this morning, THINK THEY KNOW MORE THAN EVERYBODY because you're not really interested in learning nothing. >> So what happens? You stay sin conscious. And I have a burden to study. Why? Cuz I don't want to just I don't want to be a performer. >> Because people who don't have a burden to study. They just want to preach and all you have is a performance. I don't want to do that. If all is left for me to do is to perform and not teach, I might as well ask God to please come and take me cuz this place is crazy. And the only reason I'm here is to finish my my my my deal. And once I finish my deal, we going to have a talk cuz these people crazy. You're the only one. You're the reason why I'm here. This why I keep myself here. You ain't got to be 80 before you go. You just get I'm ready to go. I'm tired of this. >> But I don't want to come in front of Jesus and hear him say, "My good and faithless servant, job incomplete." People love hearing what they already know. But here's what we know. Sin consciousness. I'm open. Your eyes are being open. and you're going to be able to leave here and see it. You start listening to how people talk. It's sin consciousness trying their best to condemn you, beat you up, make you feel guilty, make you face your shame. Look at the number of times you hear people say this phrase, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. >> Okay, where we at? Let's go back to Romans 6. All right. So, you don't have a license to sin. That's not the point. The grace is not Grace is not a license to sin. Grace is the introduction to a new consciousness to make you more aware of your righteousness and less aware of sin. >> Hallelujah. Verse 15. Being under grace and not under the law most certainly does not mean that you have a license to sin. As much as you once gave permission to sin to trap you in its spiral of spiritual death and enslave you to its dictates, the obedience that faith ignites now introduces a new rule, rightness with God. To this we willingly yield ourselves. We yield oursel. The content of teaching that your heart embraced has set a new standard to become the pattern of your life. The grace of God ended sin's do dominance. The grace of God ended sin's dominance. Sin once called the shots. Now righteousness rules. >> I want to say it as plainly as possible. You willingly offered your faculties to obey sin. You stained your body with unclean acts and allowed lawlessness to gain supremacy in all of your conduct. In exactly the same way, I now encourage you to present your faculties and person to the supremacy of righteousness to find unrestricted expression in your lifestyle. You see it? Get away from this sin conscious. Come on over here. You were sin's slave without any obligation to righteousness. I know you are embarrassed now about the things you used to do with your body. I mean, was it worth it? What reward or return did you get? But spiritual death, sin is a culde-sac. >> Consider your life now. There are no outstanding debts. You owe sin nothing. A life bonded to God yields the sacred expression of his character and completes in your experience what life was always meant to be. What life was always meant to be. What life was meant to be was an inter it was interrupted in the Garden of Eden. It was not meant TO BE SIN CONSCIOUSNESS. LIFE WAS NOT MEANT TO BE MORE AWARE of your shame and and and more aware of your your condemnation and more aware of your guilt and depression. LIFE WAS NOT MEANT TO BE ANY OF THOSE THINGS. It was an interruption in THE GARDEN. IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIFE. IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE YOUR RELIGION. IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ANY OF THOSE THINGS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? THERE WAS AN interruption and it TOOK SOME TIME TO fix the stuff. The reward of the law is death. The gift of grace is life. The bottom line is this.
