How to Walk in the Spirit in These Troublesome Times ((music playing)) We serve a wonderful savior, a wonderful redeemer. His name is Jesus. And to him be the glory and honor and praise. And God's people said, "Amen." And amen. You know, I've just been sitting here just singing some beautiful songs from the 70s. Oh, the Lord is so good. And my beautiful daughter, Natasha, sitting right there again. Can't see her tonight. She's just sitting wanting to listen to the word of the Lord. And I want to talk to you about how to walk in the spirit in these troublesome times. And I believe God is going to show you some wonderful things today to bless you. And Lord, I thank you for your blessed word. Oh precious Jesus, to you belongs the glory and the honor and the praise. Open our hearts, Lord, and reveal your precious word to us today. Blessed Lord, we give you the praise. And God's people said, "Amen." And remember, we're very close to the coming of the Lord. You know, how does this really work out? I'm looking at you. I'm looking at T at the same time. How does it work out to live in the spirit in troublesome times? You want to say hello so they can hear you? >> Hi. >> Yeah. [laughter] Anyway, Lucas is here because he's taping us, you know, so [snorts] he's laughing, [clears throat] too. You know, uh the minute and and I want you sweet young people together, too. The minute you step out of the old life and walk into the new life in Jesus, you walk into a life of no limits. Now, you know what I mean by no limits? Like like no limitations. Like your past is gone. no past record. Old things are passed away. Behold, all things are new. And a lot of people don't get that. Like they say, well, what does that really mean? Well, it it really means what what it says. Katherine Khman [snorts] was in her, let's see, she began in the ministry when she was 16. When she was young, she married a man. Mr. Walrip was his name. Then she divorced him. Her ministry almost fell apart. She was just a young lady, you know, 20 some of them. And she repented. She came to a dead end road like a real dead end road. It would say dead end. And she repented. And the Lord said something powerful to her when she repented because she divorced him and you know and gave her life to the Lord completely surrendered completely to the Lord because that marriage should have never happened in the first place anyways and long story but I'm only giving you the headline. And the Lord said to her something amazing. He said in my books it never happened. Now God did not say I cannot remember. He said I will not remember. He made a decision. I will not remember your sins any longer. What a loving God to say that. I will not remember. Once you repent, once you come to Jesus, once you come out of the old life into the new one, or even after you're in the new life and you're young like she was, and you make a mistake, you know, we all have made mistakes. Who hasn't? And you go to the Lord and you make it right with him. He will forgive and he will forget. It's his word. And so we have now to begin living that kind of life to believe that God really has forgotten. He said, "I will not remember your sins anymore." And the longer you live, the more you understand his love and mercy and forgiveness and patience with all of us. Living in the spirit is a beautiful way to live because we we are in liberty. Satan comes to remind people about their past. God always points us to the future. Old things are passed away. Behold, all things are new. Think about Paul the Apostle, what he did before his salvation. Think about any of the saints. Even after Jesus called Peter, he denied him. What did Jesus say to Peter after the resurrection? He didn't say, "Ah, you bad man. You deny me." He said, "Do you love me?" First question, do you love me? He did not even rebuke him for denying him. He just asked him a question and it broke him. Do you love me? Wow. What a Lord. What a Lord. So the Lord we serve is love. Oh yes. You know if we do not repent, if we do not have a repentant heart, we will be punished. Absolutely. But if we know how to repent, God will always forgive us and make it right with us because we made it right with him. Now, limitations known in the old life disappear once you begin living in the spirit. You also see the world differently. Not only is you're in in a new life now. No past record. Now it's a beginning. It's a beautiful new life you have. But also you see the world differently. Example, here's Moses standing looking at the Red Sea. But did he really see the Red Sea? Pharaoh's army was behind them. In the natural, they were trapped. When Israel left Egypt, God led them, led them right to the edge of the Red Sea, knowing he will divide the Red Sea. But Israel did not know. They were not living in the spirit. So now imagine if this was you and here you are, the sea before you, the enemies behind you, as you can see in the natural, no way out. What did Moses see? He saw the Lord. And when he saw the Lord, and I repeat, he saw the Lord. He didn't just see nothing. He saw the Lord. What did he say? feared doubt and as a result God brought forth a miracle and that's in in the scriptures and that's why I think Paul said something amazing to us quite remarkable really when he said in 1 Corinthians 3:21 therefore let no man glory in men for all things are yours [snorts] whether Paul or Apollos or Cphus or the world or life or death or things present or things to come. All are yours. No limit what God will give you and ye are Christs and Christ is God's. Now that's these three verses are most amazing but very few think about that. Don't glory in man. All things are yours. All things are yours. I think you you need to begin to say all things are mine. As a believer, whether Paul or Apollos or Cas or the world, think about he says the world is yours or life or death or things present or things to come. All are yours. Now wait, hold up. death and life. He says things present or things to come. All all are mine. There's no limit. And I know it's it's a mystery. Like what does it really mean? Well, when you live in the spirit, you are in that world of no limitations. You know, unbelief relies on feelings. Faith relies on the promises of God. Moses did not see the ocean. He saw the Lord. Israel saw the ocean and the Egyptians behind them. Moses did not see the Egyptians or the ocean. He saw the Lord. He only saw the Lord. And that is so powerful and you can read that for yourself in Exodus 14 verse 15 right through 21. And you know to to to human logic, feelings and all that it makes no sense. Like how can you ignore the ocean and the and the and the Egyptians behind you and say we're going to come through. God will divide the ocean. I mean, you know, in the natural to go forward you would drown. To go backwards that kill you. But not when you're in the spirit. What did Moses walk on then? Wait, wait. I want you to think about that. What did he walk on? This is very key. He did not walk on dry land when he walked through that ocean. He walked on the word of God. He walked on the word of God. What did Peter walk on on that Sea of Galilee? On the word come. On the word come. He didn't walk on the water. He walked on the word that Jesus spoke. People forget that. And then when his eye when when the wind blew and his eyes were taken off the Lord, he begin to drown. And now the Lord had to hold him up. We do not walk on the natural. We walk on the word of faith. We walk on the word of God. We see what he said and we go forward. And God said, "Lift the rod. Walk." And the the whole nation followed him. I think about the spies who went into the promised land to spy the land. 10 of them saw giants and two of them saw the Lord. Then said, "There's giants in the land. No way. we we we we we can't win. And they said it they they they made a a a a very remarkable statement because in the book of Numbers, let's go there, chapter 13. And in [clears throat] verse 25, and after they they returned from searching the land, they they made a very like uh shocking statement. It says they brought up an evil report in verse 32 and they talked about how these giants were so massive. And then they said something in verse 33 that is so so important. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anoch, which come of the giants. And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers. And so were we in their sight. The way you see yourself is the way the devil sees you. The way you see yourself is the way the enemy sees you. We were in our own sight as grasshoppers. And so were we in their side. The minute you see yourself as God sees you, you win. But the minute you see yourself as the enemy sees you, you lose. You have got to change your vision. What did God do with Abraham when he began to question? He said, "Come on, count the stars. Change your vision." Because he said, "What will you give me?" He's sitting in his tent in Genesis. What will you give me seeing? Seeing I go childless. He was seeing nothing. He was asking God, you know, all I have is, you know, Eleazar for an air. Read it there in Genesis 15. What will you give me seeing I'm childless? and he's thinking, you know, Elaz is going to take all his wealth and go with it. God said, "No, come let's look at the stars together. Look at look at the count the stars, Abraham." And and then God changed the sight, changed his vision. You've got to start seeing, right? Faith can be seen. Jesus seeing their faith. Seeing their faith. Remember that story when they brought that man through the roof said he saw their faith. They acted seek their faith. He says to the man, "Arise." We've got to change what we see. Walking in the spirit will change the way you see yourself. All right. David in Psalm 23:4 said something quite quite remarkable. Now, you know, I mean, you've got to think about this when when I give you these scriptures. And by the way, keep me, you know, aware of the time so I don't keep going. And frankly, if I do, I think people need it anyways a little bit now. Psalm 23:4. Well, let me just read it together with you. Yay, though I walk, Yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. Now, wait, hold it. The valley of the shadow of death is a very terrifying reality. But he said, Lord, your reality is greater. The valley of death is a great reality and a terrifying reality. But God's reality is greater than the valley of the shadow of death. You don't see the shadow of death. You don't see the valley of the shadow of death. You see the Lord whose reality is greater. You know why I I in the crusades and to this day I love leading people in worship because worship helps them to see Jesus not their disease. The moment people see the Lord they forget their disease. And when they forget their disease he heals them. As long as they're focused on the sickness, no healing will come. When they start begging, "Oh Lord, heal me. Heal me." They're focused on their disease, they're not focused on the Lord, the healer. When they see Jesus, they're healed. In his presence, in his presence means you see him. In his presence, no sickness will dwell. You come to that place of reality where he becomes more real to you than the crowds around you. He becomes more real to you than yourself. When the presence of Jesus becomes real to me on those platforms and that's when I rebuke sickness, that's when they get healed because he's real to me now. And that's when I sing hallelujah. We are there. By the time we sing al hallelujah, I'm already there. Sometimes I'll worship for a while lately [laughter] because of the Lord's presence coming so quickly. I I just walked on the platform in Uganda and Zimbabwe and he was already on the platform. So there wasn't much waiting. But in the crusades and still in some meetings, you have to lead people. We have to to prepare them to come into God's presence. Jack Hayer told me something powerful. He said, "You don't have a healing ministry. You have a ministry to that brings people into the presence of the Lord." That's what he said to me. He He said, "People are not healed in your meetings because you give you have the gift of healing." I said, "Well, I've never said I have the gift of healing." He said they get healed because you bring them into the presence of the Lord. When they come into the presence of the Lord, they're healed. Or Roberts used to lay hands on the sick and others like him before and after. Miss Kuma did not lay hands on the sick. She let people into the presence of God. And sometimes she would have she would sing with the wrong key and nobody cared because God's presence was there. I've heard her sing when her voice would crack and break. It didn't matter to us. We were all weeping because Jesus is there. It's all about the presence of the Lord. So we live in this amazing reality. But what what do we do to have it this life in the spirit? Well, Paul gives us an amazing truth in Romans 13:14. He says, "Put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Put on the Lord. Wear him." These are amazing words. Romans 13:14, "And put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh. You cancel the flesh. You cancel the lust of the flesh." It says, "Make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof." You You're free from it. Now, how you put the Lord on. How do you do that? Surrender. You see him. What did David do? He surrendered. What did Moses do? Surrender. What did Caleb and Joshua do? Surrender. They didn't see those giants. They saw the Lord and they surrendered and saw the Lord. Moses surrendered to the Lord. He walked on his word. He He didn't walk through the Red Sea. He walked on the word of God on the sea divided and those giants. Did Caleb see him? No. Did Joshua see him? No. He saw the word. The giants disappeared. And David saw the Lord. He saw his word. He said, "Thou art with me. Thou for thou art with me. I I see you, Lord. I don't see the valley. And because I see you, I don't see the valley. And Paul tells us something powerful. Put on Christ and the flesh will go away. So [sighs] here's the here's what what will cause people difficulties if you don't avoid the places Let me say it like like like like this. People sometimes go into places that trigger the flesh. If you go into a place that triggers the the flesh, you lose sight of the Lord. You you lose sight of the the the invisible. Do not go anywhere that triggers the flesh. Avoid the places that trigger the flesh and what the flesh craves because this is not who you are anymore. This is not who you are anymore. Old things are passed away. This is not who you are anymore. You don't need it. You don't want it. are. You do not need the flesh. You don't want the flesh. You want the life of the spirit. You are a man of the spirit. You're a woman of the spirit. Our life is alive in the spirit. Everything we are, everything we do is is of the spirit. We don't Jesus said you're in but not of the world. Why? In the spirit. And so Paul makes it very clear. Let's go to Ephesians. And I'll go just a little over today just for a few minutes because I think this is so important. I want I want to give you the the secret. I want to give you what to do. How do you walk in the spirit in these troublesome times? So in in Ephesians 4, if you look at verse, let's just go to verse 22, I hope you'll learn it on it, it says that you put off concerning the former conversation or conduct, the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust. So it's it's our decision to say no to the flesh and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. how through the word I've been saying it over and over and over and over again and through the word that renews your mind spirit spiritually the spirit of your mind it says now you can put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. So a radical change begins to take place in your life and you begin to do something that is incredible. The next thing he says in Ephesians 5 verse one he said begin to imitate God as their children. How do you imitate God? Well, he just told you how in chapter 4. He said, "Get the flesh off and walk in the spirit." And then he said, "Be" and because remember there were no no chapters when he wrote this. So you go on reading, "Be ye therefore Ephesians 5:1. Be therefore followers of God as dear children." Imitate God as dear children. Why? Because we've received his life. Now we draw from that life from within. We draw from within, not without. His life is in us and we draw from within. We look within. I read a profound book by Jin years ago and she talked about how we have to look within in prayer. Look within means you look within the spirit. You walk by living the life that puts the world out and is living that spiritual life. And so what he says here is imitate God and now you have his life. Draw from it. Draw from imitate him. You draw from his life that is within you. And by doing that you become his children. You missed it. You missed it too. And I think you missed it too. By drawing from his life, you're able to follow him as children. You can't follow without that because you've received uh God's eternal life. You're joined to him in covenant. Listen to me. you. We we we are walking it out from the spirit within. Every every day you have to walk out from what is within, not the other way around. And you find that in quietness. In quietness, you're able to bring out what is in you. Otherwise, you can't do it. And finally, when you do that, something happens. The flesh must be weakened and starved. And once the flesh is weakened and starved, only then can the life of God flow out flow out. So in 2 Corinthians 12 uh verse 10 he said I take pleasure in infirmities in reproach in necessities in persecutions in distress for Christ's sake for when I am weak when I am weak then am I wrong. >> You You have to bring the flesh to a place of total starvation and weakness. So he said, "I rejoice in in in infirmities because that that's weakness. Reproach is weakness. Necessities and persecutions are weaknesses, distress. Because now in my weakness I find his strength. I draw from within. I draw from within. I hope this is helping you. And sometimes trials come our way because God wants us to draw from within. Sometimes he allows them to come so we can start looking within ourselves. And this is so important. The minute you see the reality of what I'm talking to you about and what the Bible teaches, you begin to see trials as an opportunity to draw on the Lord to to to draw to draw and to grow because I think trials are the opportunities of the Holy Spirit. it to produce the life of Jesus in in your life of mouth. And that's why the Lord said, "Ye shall have tri tribulation in this world, but rejoice. I've overcome the world." All who live godly will suffer. Why? Because we go within immediately and we become stronger. So the minute the minute trials come, there are opportunities that the Holy Spirit would use to bring forth the life of Jesus out. I think I've said enough and I pray that the Lord today would use that. And one final advice, walking in the spirit will cause you to also do this. Colossians 3 1 through verse three. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above. That's what happened by living in the spirit. You start looking above. Dear God, how I love this. Well, Christ siteth on the right hand of God. Set your affections. your affection or mind here in Greek on things above, not on things on the earth. For you are dead and your life is hid with Christ. Man, this is such a powerful verse. You are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God. You are dead and your life is hid with Jesus in God. say my life is hid with Jesus and God that's within. There's a hiding place within. Withdraw from that life within. So when troubles come, don't look outward, look inward. And when you look inward, look for Jesus and you'll find him. And you'll draw the strength out. Out of your innermost being shall flow rivers of living water out of your innermost being. And you find that tranquility as you wait upon the Lord and renew your strength. It's time you do that. If you're troubled today, I have a wonderful piece of counsel for you. Wait upon the Lord. He will renew your strength. You'll mount up as wings as with wings of eagles. You'll run and not be weary. You'll walk and not faint. But you need the word of God to ignite all that in you. You see, I read my Bible and my and the word of God settles my spirit and settles my soul and I'm able to enter into this quietness of spirit. And yes, shut your phone off. Shut it off. Put it on plane mode or just shut it off. Don't let any any anybody call you while you're just in the presence of Jesus. Now, now uh uh this is this is key. Don't look for feelings. Look look for depth. Look for depth. And you won't understand what I mean till you're there. Spiritual depth is is not a feeling. It's the deep that calls onto deep. It's like oneness, union with the Lord that is not emotional. There's no emotions with it. The problem today is people look for emotional experience and they get in chaotic trouble. No, no. Jesus is in the stillness. He's found in the stillness. Be still and know. Be still and know I'm the Lord. He said, "Be still and know I'm the Lord." Do it today. But you cannot find stillness till you open your Bible and you read the precious word of God and you say, "Wonderful Jesus, show me your face today again. Show me your beauty again today, Lord. Oh sweet Holy Spirit, show me Jesus. Reveal to me the son of God." and you open your Bible and next thing you know as you're reading oh the peace of God that will settle deep in your soul and then you start looking within and sometimes communion erupts within you deep communion not words not me mental words no deep communion of love words of love now you speak to him words of love and you cherish him with your love and you just adore him and you thank him and it's there's no requests [snorts] of selfish needs here. There's no prayer list of I need this ABCD FG. It's all about him, not you. It's all about him, not you. There's nothing to do with needing things from the outside. Now Jesus is all in all. And then you walk out and you think this is heaven. No, it's a taste of heaven. Imagine all this is just a taste. Think what the Lord's glory and heaven will be like. Wow. Lord, bring them into that place of rest. There is a place of quiet rest. That song said near to the heart of God, a place where sin cannot molest. Near to the heart of God. Bring them near to your heart, Lord. Bring them near to your heart, dear Jesus. Let them experience that life in the spirit so they won't they won't be affected by the troublesome times we're we're in. that nothing will affect them spiritually. They'll know your peace that passeth all understanding and your presence that will give them great joy. Give you all the glory. And God's sweet people said, "Amen and amen. Thank you for being with me." I'm loving this. I I just love talking to you about the Lord and his word. Share, you know, share these with people. Share this with your friends.
