Bethel Church Service | Havilah Cunnington Sermon | Worship with Jenn Johnson, Brady Voss Morning everyone. >> Hi, Bethl online family. We love you guys. It's great to see you. I know some of you it's the evening, some of you it might be the afternoon, but hello to you. Yes, it's >> kind of rainy and and and misty, but also um I keep looking for rainbows. Oh my god, just show me just show me something beautiful. That's what I'm looking for this morning. I feel excited expecting to be in church. >> Yes. I was just talking to Jamila about what we're um just even the things that we're navigating with the Lord, what we're feeling like he's saying today, how we're posturing ourselves to get ready for church. And we're both feeling um different but similar things both based in the Psalms. And so maybe if you have a Bible with you, you can grab your Bible. We're going to talk a little bit about what we're feeling and kind of invite you guys into it if that feels okay. >> Yes. I'd love to share like we had this encounter in our revival group. Uh if for those who don't know, we have a school of ministry and because the the ministry has grown so large, we have broken our students into smaller groups that we call revival groups. Well, in our revival group on Thursday, we just spent time letting the Lord give us scripture that inspired us. And I was telling Cassie that in that whole web of scripture, we wrote on the whiteboard. Each person went up and wrote scriptural verses. Um but the central theme was the lordship, the lordship of Jesus. Uh because you know we we talk about him being our father. We talk about him being the bridegroom. We talk about him being all these different things relationally, but the one that I felt him highlighting to me and uh all of us in that revival group was the lordship and the presence of God was so profoundly powerful there. So I I'm excited because you said you were feeling Psalm 23. >> Yeah. which starts with >> I know well the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want >> but I love this so if you're feeling that maybe while before I share Psalm 23 and I'm going to read that in just a second >> maybe give me an example of a way um that you were experiencing or or desiring the lordship of the Lord right like you're you're saying this is what I'm sensing to focus my attention on and I want to invite our online community wherever you are if you're with your kids if you're with your family if you're by yourself If you're just tuning in and you're like, "Wow, what does it look like for me right where I am to focus myself on the presence of God or or to invite that?" What what would that look like? >> Well, there can be so many competing distractions, commitments, priorities, but he is sovereign. So, for me, it is, oh, who has the Lord been to me? >> Yeah, >> he has been my protector. He has been my provider. I love you're going to start with he has been my covering, my shepherd. So, who has the Lord been to you? Tell us in the chat. He has been my friend. He has been my confidant. He has been my uh protection. He has been my um my wisdom. He has given me He's been my savior. Just who has the Lord been to you? Put that in the chat. Uh we would love to celebrate who the Lord's been to you while we meditate on him for a few minutes in scripture with you. >> Absolutely. And you might be surprised. I think sometimes when I reflect on this, um who God's been to me in a previous season is wonderful, right? Like there's so many facets to who God is and yet in this season I'm seeing him in a completely different way, right? Um he he in in previous seasons I used to talk to people and I'd say, "Oh, he's so kind." Like I would gush about the kindness of God. And in this season, I'm in a very uh different season where I'm like, "My God is faithful." Like when when there where when there are like difficult situation, >> wow, my God is faithful when I don't have faith. when I am faithless. He is faithful. And I start to meditate on his faithfulness, his kindness. Oh, I see that. Okay. I see Alice said, "He has been my battle fighter." May said, "My helper, my everything, my comfort is what Timothy said." Hi, Tim. >> I know some of you are saying, Graham saying, "My strength." Felicity, my everything, my healer, my love, my best friend. Oh, wow. >> Thank you, Jesus. >> We're reading. When you see us looking down, we're looking at our computer here. >> I love Freddy said, "He has been my solid rock and my shelter." >> Lorie said, "He gives me hope." >> Wow. Michael said, "My light and my salvation, my rock and my fortress, my my deliverer." It sounds a little bit like Psalm 18, I think, is what I was reading the other day. >> Love the scripture. >> We love it. I'm going to read Psalm 23 because I was reading this this morning. And as you're reflecting, you can keep writing things in the chat. You can continue to reflect on who God's been to you. But I just want to read the truth real fast. Um, the Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. So wherever you are, whatever is going on with you, however the Lord is meeting you today. I just have this sense. I'm like reflecting back on the word. Wherever wherever you are, whatever you're going through, the Lord is with you. >> His rod and his staff will comfort you. even if you're walking through the valley of the shadow of death. And so Jesus, right now, whatever people are walking through, if you feel like things have been really heavy, if you feel like things have been really difficult, if you feel like it feels like you're walking through mud or you're walking through the enemy's camp, that's the place where the the Lord prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies. Sometimes I wish the Lord would rescue me just from my enemies. Put me in another place. And he's like, in the midst of it, in the midst of everything you're walking through. >> Yeah. >> I'm going to prepare a table for you there. I'm going to anoint your head with oil. I'm going to sit with you. I'm going to be with you. And so, Papa, I just pray that you would come in so close. >> That maybe some people haven't felt your nearness. Maybe some people haven't felt the closeness of a protector of a of a good father. That you would come in right now, God. And that you would bring your covering. You would bring your protection. and that you would show people that you're with them in the midst of whatever it is that they're navigating or battling, that you are their shepherd. >> Yes, God. >> Yeah. Thank you, Jesus. Anything else that you're feeling? >> Well, when I think of a shepherd, he brings healing. He He takes care of the sheep in ways that the sheep can't for themselves. So, Father, we thank you for being the healer. And we lift up those who need a healing touch, whether it be in their mind or their body or a loved one. Father God, we thank you for touching bodies, hearts, and minds today. That they would be restored to your original design and that they would experience the healing power of the Holy Spirit right now. And also, there are some who might not be experiencing heaviness, but but maybe this is a joyful season for you. And so, I would love to read a little bit of Psalm 34 um because this is what struck me when we had that encounter in um in our group last Thursday. But in Psalm 34, it's a it's a Psalm of David where it talks about tasting and seeing the goodness of the Lord. Um, and it says in verse one and two, I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord. Let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt his name together. Further down in the ver in the in the psalm, it says that the Lord is great and greatly to be praised. And so, as we're talking about who the Lord has been, let's also praise his name. He is kind. He is gracious. He is holy. He is wise. He is with us. He is for us. Um, and that's the the the the spirit we get to go into the uh service with uh together. We get to remember one who God is and also praise him for all he's been and done. Yeah, >> that's so good. Oh, it just I think it shifts my mindset and it allows me to actually enter in with thanksgiving and with praise. I'm like, wow, I'm so thankful. This is who God is unchanging. >> Yes. >> No matter what I'm going through in the highs and in the lows, he is steady. >> He's a vindicator. I love I'm watching some people um write that he's a vindicator. He's a healer. They're experiencing the joy of the Lord. And he's with us in those mountain tops. And he's with us in the midst of the valley when we're contending for loved ones. I see some people are praying for their parents. They're praying for people who've been um in in really hard situations. But God, we just pray that you would meet us. Yes, God. >> That today in the midst of whatever it is that we're navigating, even through worship, God, that we would see you rightly. Yes. >> That we would experience your love, your kindness, your joy, that we would experience your healing power, God. that nothing is impossible for you. And so God, we just welcome you in before we go into worship. Jesus, we just thank you for who you are. We are so thankful that we get to worship as a body of Christ, that we get to see you and that we get to enjoy just being in the midst of your presence. >> Yes, God. >> Global family, we love you. We're expectant. Um, we've got Jen Johnson. >> Oh, Hava is going to preach. Jen Johnson, Brady, and Gianna are going to lead us into worship, but we're expecting that God is here. he is with us and that we're going to meet with him in the middle of this service today. >> And he's right there with you, too. Everywhere we find ourselves, he is. >> Yeah. >> We'll see you after service. >> Good morning. Hello. Good to see you guys. Hello again. >> Good morning. Good morning. Hello in the back. Welcome online church. It's good to have you, man. It is happy this morning. Why don't you turn to your neighbor? Say hello quick. Say it's good to see you in the house of God. >> Yes. Where are junior highs at? Do I see you over there? Hello, junior highs. Yes, I see some junior highs. Are you having fun in disciplehip group, junior highs? Yes. Come on. >> If you're able to stand, would you stand with me? >> If you have your Bibles with you and you just want to open to Psalm 84, otherwise you can just listen to me reading it. Psalm 84:1. How many of you know this? How lovely is your tabernacle, oh Lord of hosts. My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the Lord. My mercy, my sorry, my heart, just joking, not mercy, my heart and my flesh cry out for the >> living God. >> Let's start this again. And how lovely is your tabernacle, oh Lord of hosts. My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh cry out for the >> living God. >> Just put your hand on your heart real quick. >> And just say, "My heart >> and flesh, >> it cries out." >> Cries out >> for the living God. >> God. Just say, "Holy Spirit, >> Holy Spirit, >> make me hungrier >> for the living God." >> God. >> Yeah. >> Verse three, even the sparrow has found a home. If I'm not correct, sparrows were not sold for a lot in those days. Sparrows were a pretty cheap meat. But even the sparrow, the thing that's overlooked, that's not so valuable, has found a home. And the swallow a nest for herself where she may lay her young. Even your altars, oh Lord of hosts, my king and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your >> Oh, put your hand back on your heart. >> Say, I am blessed. >> I am blessed. For I dwell >> For I dwell >> with you, oh Lord. >> Uh, keep your hand in your heart. Say, I am the house of God. >> I am the house of >> the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. >> Woo. Turn to someone next to you and say, "You are blessed." >> Turn to the other side. Say, you are blessed. Verse four, blessed are those who dwell in your house, for they are still praising you. They are still praising you. This is a wild way to open, but I feel like we are going to uh just just begin to praise the Lord just for a second because we are in the house of God. So just with your just authentically just begin to thank the Lord. Lord, we thank you God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house. For where we cry out to you, Lord, you come. Blessed are those whose strength in is in you, whose hearts are set towards you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Lord. We are blessed because you are with us, because you are mighty. Because you are victorious. Oh, just declare this with me. great and greatly to be praised. Do it with me again. For you are great and you are greatly to be praised. One more time. For you are great and you are greatly to be praised. Hallelujah. Woo. Amen. Why don't you turn to someone, give them a hug, bless them, and we're going to worship the Lord this morning. Bless the Lord, oh my soul. All that is within me, praise. Bless the Lord, oh my soul. >> Bless you, Jesus. >> Forget all his benefits. >> Bless the Lord, oh my soul. All that is within me praise. And blessed are those who run to hell, who place their hope and confidence in Jesus. He won't forsake them. And blessed are those who seek his face, who bend their knee and fix their gaze on Jesus. They won't be shen. Oh, come on and praise the Lord with me. Sing if you love his name. Go and lift your voice with me. He's worthy of all our praise. Sing. Blessed are those. Blessed are those who walk with him whose hearts are settled with Jesus. They'll see his glory. And blessed are those who die to live. Whose joy it is to give it all for Jesus and for him. Oh Jesus, all for your glory. Come on and praise God with me. Sing if you love his name. Go and lift your voice with me. He's worthy of all our praise. So come and bring your sing. The colors of the morning are inside your eyes. The world awakens in the light of the day. I look up to the sky and say, "You're beautiful." Oh, you're beautiful. Oh, I see your power. I see your power in the moon late at night where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright. We are amazed in the light of the stars. It's all proclaiming who you are. You're beautiful. Oh, you're beautiful. Oh, and I see you there hanging on a tree. You bled and then you died and then you rose again for me. Now you sing on your heavenly throne. So we will be coming home. You're beautiful. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Oh, heat, heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. I see your face in every sunrise. The colors of the morning are inside your eyes. The world awakens in the light of the day. We look up to the sky and say, "You're beautiful." Oh, I just sing to him. And oh Jesus, you are beautiful. Yes, you are, Lord. You're beautiful. >> Wow. Wow. Wow. Good morning. How about we lift up one good shout of praise? Heat. Heat. I feel better now. I don't know about you, but wow, what a a privilege just to be invited in before God himself to minister to him and to love him and to rejoice and delight ourselves in him. It's just just a privilege that's we ne never could have earned. If you're able to stand with us, stand. We're going to pray together. There's this verse in scripture that I that means so much to me. He says, "I will be led forth with peace." Say that with me. I will be led forth with peace. Say it again. I will be led forth with peace. That tells me I don't want to go anywhere. Peace doesn't take me. Peace is is just worth protecting. There are times where, you know, I do something, say something, I find myself all anxious and I have to stop and think, where did I leave peace? Because I know he didn't take it from me. I must have laid it down somewhere. You know, it was that phone call. It was that whatever that happened. And uh and I got to go back, repent my way back, and pick up the peace that he gave me as my inheritance. And I feel like there's this there's this thing that's always going on in our life. Uh Philippians 4, be anxious for nothing. >> That includes everything. Be anxious for nothing. But in your with your prayers, your supplications, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God. And then the peace of God guard you. So here's the deal. I feel like all the anxiety, all the stuff to distract us, it's all to move us, remove us from peace. It's all to make us unstable where we have every right to be forever stable. All right, here's what we're going to do. We're going to pray. There's a key verse for me that has meant so much to me in a for decades and it's out of 2 Corinthians 11 where he says, "Lest we be distracted from the simplicity of devotion to Christ." Say that phrase with me. The simplicity of devotion to Christ. Say it again. The simplicity of devotion to Christ. So here's what I want you to do. I want you to grab a hand or put your hand on their shoulder some way. Connect with people around you and I want you to pray. Help them with simplicity of devotion. Help them with simplicity. Help them to maintain peace at all cost. Just pray for them. Help them to protect the peace to protect what you've given them. Yes, Lord. Not going anywhere preach anywhere. our soul. Great. Father, we thank you that you've given us a gift of peace. We acknowledge it's a gift. It belongs to us and we give thanks to you. I pray for the grace, the wisdom, the sensitivity to protect that wonderful gift of peace. Everybody said, "Amen." All right. You've got great people around you. I want you to look me in the eye and say, "Don't you dare be anxious. Don't you dare be anxious." >> Amen. >> Thanks. Thank you. Thank you. >> Blood of Jesus. Oh, good morning, Bethl Church. >> Good morning, online, Bethl Church. >> I'm so glad to see you guys. I I don't know. I have a weird I can't stop smiling today. >> And it's not because there's nothing going wrong. We've had sick kids last week. Oh, Super Bowl. No, I wish I could say it was that. I I can't say I care a lot about that. I'm excited about the food later. I I feel excited about that. I feel excited that I'm over 40, so now I'm in my grandma sweater era where I have holiday sweaters. Maybe that's it. I don't know. But good morning. I am so glad to see you. I just felt like giving like a a whole like a mom check. Are we How are we doing? Thumbs up, thumbs down, middle. It's okay. Be honest. How you doing? That's how I feel. Unreasonably happy. Okay, good. I'm glad not all of you raised your hands. That's okay. We're gonna have prayer teams later. I'm so happy to see you guys. Hey, if there are any firsttime visitors in the house, would you give us a loud proud hand wave? You can be loud with your handwave. Hi, good to see you. Welcome first time visitors. Welcome. Welcome. Have somebody in your family keep a hand raised. Actually, we've got ushers that are handing out cards that are just for you, our first-time visitors. And we would invite you to visit our team in the south lobby after service. We've got teams there to pray and prophesy over you. And um I say this every time, but it's a big deal. If you're here to stay, we really want to make sure you know how to get connected and plugged in here. That's important. So, good to see you first time guest and Bethl family, of course. Good to see you every week. Hey, I've got a few announcements for you today. number one and we we mentioned this last week, but mark your calendars. We definitely would love to have you there on the 6:00ish side so we can get everybody checked in and then our meeting will start on uh at 6:30. And this is our annual moment to come together and actually go over kind of business of the church. You're going to get some important updates. we'll review this past wild and wonderful year that we've had and we really need all of our members there. So, we'll see you on the 25th. And then backing up the calendar a week, uh the week of February 16th, we have got a week of winter fun for all of you families that have kids out of school. Uh you're going to want to check out online everything that's happening each day. There's everything from a sledding day to like a craft workshop. There's time at the trampoline park. There's time at the skating rink. So, lots of fun planned for those of you looking for things to do with your children when they're out of school yet another week of the year. And uh we'll love to see you there. Bring your friends, meet some new families. It'll be a good time. All right, that's it. Fantastic. Uh friends, do we have church news today? We do not have church news. That's news to me. Okay, fantastic. It's offering time. Why don't you stand? Come on up, Dante. All right, if we can all stand this morning. Good morning, church. >> I just I just love all of y'all are looking good today. You showed up today. It is offering time. Um we we ask if this is not your home church that you have your tithe for your home church, but anything above that, we would love for you to to give and we bless it today. Um I have a confession to make. Uh my first year marriage, we had $7 in our bank account and I bought a burrito. I was hungry that day and and I remember having a thought, um God's going to take care of us. Um that was a very stupid thought. Um according to my wife. Um and and throughout our marriage um I have grown into maturity and in our um there's been seasons in our marriage where we have had abundance and we've not had a lot in our bank accounts and um and there's been times where you know we're we're doing everything we can and we still are falling short. I bless our economy and uh but there's there's a specific Sunday where um we didn't have much and and we were like trying to figure out okay we can't pay for mortgage and we both had this thought to just give the rest of it cuz we were like since we can't pay it we may as well just give the rest of it and and I will honestly say um that was a marking moment for our marriage u because we have not seen God not come through ever in our marriage. We've always been taken care of. And as you give today, I I want you to reflect on where you have seen the hand of God in your life because I believe that every person in this room has a testimony of his hand in your life. And so as you give today, let's reflect on that. Amen. >> Amen. So let's read offering reading number two in faith. Let's go. As we receive today's offering, we are believing you for heaven open, earth invaded, storehouses unlocked, and miracles created, dreams and visions, angelic visitations, declarations, impartations and divine manifestations, anointings, giftings and calls, positions and promotions, provisions and resources to sold to the nations. Souls and more souls from every generation saved and set free carrying kingdom revelation. Thank you, Father, that as I join my value system to yours, you will shower with favor, blessing, and increase upon me so I have more than enough to collabor with heaven and see Jesus get his full reward. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. All right. Well, baskets are being passed and we bless you this morning and we're going to welcome up Hava Cunnington. >> We love you, Dante. You're the best. You are the best. Can you hear me? >> All right. Listen. Look at the person next to you and if they look tired, smack them. >> Wake them up. If you have your Bible, I want you to turn to the book of John, the book of John and we also are going to land over in Matthew chapter 14. Matthew chapter 14. So we are going to spend some time together. I want to start by reading John chapter 14 verse 27. And uh my message is entitled God of the Storm. The God of the storm. I can't do everything, but I can do the next right thing. >> I can't do everything, but I can do the next right thing. Let's look at John chapter 14 27. It says, and these are the red letters. This is Jesus's words. He says, "Peace I leave you. My peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Jesus looked at his disciples in the eye. And he knew that every word he spoke on earth would need to be documented because we would use his words as hope as a guide to living a life here on earth. And he says this so powerfully, peace I leave you. Not joy and hope. And there's a lot of things that he'll leave us. But he felt it was very important that we knew that we would need something unique. And it would be very important that we would receive something called peace. >> And then he goes on to say, "No, no, no. Not the kind of peace you think. Not the peace that comes from the bank account or the you know the the the people we know or the influence or the status or whatever. No, not that kind of peace. I'm talking about the peace that the world does not give you. >> It is a unique peace. It's a supernatural peace. And then he says this because even as he's saying you're going to want peace and you're going to need something that's not earthly peace, he says also don't let your heart be troubled. I wonder if he knew that we would read these words in 2026. And we would hear him say, I've come to give you peace. I'm going to leave it for you. It's not like the earth's peace. But he would know that that wouldn't be enough because he would have to add something to it. He would have to say, "But hey, hold on. Don't let your heart be troubled." And do not and neither let it be afraid. You see, I believe that peace is one of our greatest gifts from God. >> Peace will define us as followers of Jesus or just people that say we have faith. >> Peace will be something that defines our characteristics. See, people will watch you go through things that are unthinkable, tragic, painful, overwhelming, discouraging, defeating. They will watch you go through things that on the surface you will say, "How are they okay? I'm angry watching it. I'm heartbroken witnessing it." But we will find that if you have peace, the kind that he promised, it will rise above >> the storm. >> It will rise above the chaos. It'll rise above the gossip, the slander. It'll rise above what someone did to you or for you. And it will actually be an attribute of a God follower. >> That's good. >> You see, I've realized something about myself in the past couple weeks. When things get messy, my first instinct is who did this? What went wrong? How did we get here? And I know this because I've been married for 20 years and that is absolutely my instinct. When I face hard things, my first question is, who is responsible? And do you need me to lay hands on them? Not in prayer. And so I I understand that my instinct even the last couple weeks is that when we have faced a storm and we have we are facing a storm and and I like to say you know all of us are going to face storms. We have been facing there's a storm right now in many areas whether it be political whether it be an economy whether it be uh in in a lot of different areas but we particularly in our environment here we are facing a storm and we're walking through that and I have a lot of hope and I want to show you why. It's because I'm learning that when I spend all my energy looking around and trying to figure out who, how, when, where, what, I start to slowly forget to look up. It's not that I stop believing. I don't lose my faith, but I stop paying attention to the things that will sustain me in the middle of the storm. You see, when I don't know where I'm standing, I start grabbing anything that feels stable, like an explanation or an opinion or people or outrage. And I think it's very important that truth gets named. I think it's important that pain gets honored in storms. >> But I also believe that Jesus gets to decide where we go from here. Yes, that's right. >> Not strategy, not what so- and so thinks or what so and so says or what we think. Not earthly minded wisdom, but heavenly wisdom that says I'm the God who was on the shore and I'm the God in the storm and I'll be the same God in both environments, in both moments. See, I'm realizing something that most of the damage in the storm doesn't come from what's happening around me. It comes when I let it when I let the storm take over and come inside of me. >> That's right. >> And this is the fine line of what we are experiencing as a community. I believe as believers on the earth today. I believe that there are storms all around us. And what will keep us safe is if we can know what the storm is and where the storm possibly came from is helpful. But the the mandate for us as believers is that when we are in a storm, we do not allow the storm to get inside of us. >> We do not allow the storm to dictate who we believe, what God said, what he promised, what is true, what God can do. We do not allow the voices and the narratives and the opinions and all the intelligent conversations around us that seem like it's all being put together and we go, "Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. We're not looking for earthly wisdom. We're looking for heavenly impartation, >> the reality of who God is and what he said. And that's our anchor in the middle of the storm, not what we see with our own eyes. >> And so the storm often doesn't get louder, but it does get bigger when our focuses go towards the storm. And here's the truth I keep coming back to over and over this week, which is the enemy doesn't have to destroy me. He just has to distract me. And if I get my eye off of what I'm called to do, I will miss where I'm going. >> I I I just picked up this new thing called golf. >> Does anybody else golf in the room? Just wait. Okay. And you know, I'm not an athletic person. I would like to just say this. My family's very aware of this, but I would like to say this. And and the reason I know I'm not athletic. And for all of you that are athletic, this is I'm going to give you an insight into those of us that are not. And I I'm rejecting your judgment, but I want you to know this is what it's like. So, if you're an athletic person, this is how it works. When when you try to get better, you do. It's amazing. Like you get a coach, you join a team, you play for years, you join leagues and things get better. You get better because you figure it out and you you figure out your rhythm and you are athletic. That is not all of us. When you are not athletic, I'm embarrassed saying this, but when you are not athletic, it doesn't matter how hard you try. If you do it right, it is a it is just as miraculous to you as it is to everybody else. There is it's like I I don't know how this work. This is amazing, right? And everyone says, "Do that again." And you go, I don't even know what I did. So, okay. My job in when I'm playing sports is mostly to reject judgment and resist shame. That's literally my main thing. I grew up in a home where my mom was like a champion softball player and my dad's athletic and they signed me up for sports. my entire childhood and high school years. And there was a point in high school where I had to sit my parents down and say, "I love your love and your belief in me." Um, but it's humiliating because you sit through the entire game ready for them to put me in. And I'm not going in. And if I'm going in, it's because we are either losing so bad I can do no damage or we're doing so well I can't take the win. Like that. That is where we are today, right? And so when I'm playing golf and I just started this, my husband's played forever and uh I think his prayers have reached heaven and then my my two youngests play as well. One of my my 13-year-old started giving me feedback. And it's interesting as a parent when your kids start to give you feedback. It's a very interesting moment. I'll never forget the moment when my my kids that are old enough will say, "I don't think you know they start correcting you on how you talk to your spouse. You ever had that? It is a shocking moment when you go, "This is about your father and I." You shut your little mouth. No, I'm kidding. You or you'll say, "I never said that." And you usually could get away with, "I never said that." Because you don't you don't believe you said it. But then you have three people saying, "Yeah, you did. Yeah, you did." And then you just want to say again, "This isn't about you. This isn't about you." No, I'm teasing. But when we start to get feedback from our kids, one of the things is when I started to play golf, the first thing I did was I looked at where the ball was going. I saw the flag and I thought, "All I got to do is get my stick." That's not the right word. What's it called, babe? >> Club. There it is. Okay. >> The stick is hockey, right? Okay. So, I'm I'm within the right. Okay. Whatever. So, and the the thing is is if I look at the where it's going, I I will miss the ball. So, I have to keep my eye on the ball in order to get the ball where it needs to go. Which is very counterintuitive to what you're doing. And so, my son will say, "Mom, you didn't keep your eye on the ball. Your head, you got your head up. You looked at where it was going and that's why it went the wrong direction." And I think that when we are when I think about the season we are in as a church, as a community, I think we're in this really unique season that if we get obsessed with wondering where we're going, >> we'll miss the point that right now our job as believers is to get our head on to get our head down and to get our eye on the ball and to do the next right thing. Because when we do the next right thing over and over and over, we get to where we want and need to go. >> But when we start obsessing about where the ball is going, we miss the fact that our behavior is what's going to either help or hinder where we're going. >> Your eyes are not going to take you where you need to go. It is your movement. It's your actions. It's your daily life. It's the stroke that you actually use over and over and over is how you get to where you want to go. And that's what all good golfers, I believe, do. I don't know, but I would imagine that's what they do. And so, why is that important? Because success isn't about staring at the destination, specifically in a storm. It is about doing what is the best thing right in front of you and doing the right thing at that very moment. And see, some of us are asking God about our future, and he's asking you about your focus. And focus is not about the destination. It's about the decision that's right in front of you. And so, why is this important? Because when we get into storms, things shift in us. And really, we have to understand that God came to give us peace, but he also knew how much we would need it and how powerful it would be in our lives. See, you can be in the storm and still be led by peace. >> That is the difference. You don't ignore the storm. You still feel the feelings of the storm. You still mourn with those who mourn. You still cry with those who cry. You still are engaged in all of that. Of course, most importantly and very important. But the point is that the storm can't end up being our reference point. >> It has to be what God is doing in us and through us. And what God what matters to God is what matters to us. >> And that's how we stay safe in this journey. So John 14 27, I want us to look at that again. We read it, but I want to look a little deeper because it says, "Peace I leave you. My peace I give you. Not as the world do I give you. And then he says, "Not don't let your heart be troubled." That word troubled, I love how it's amplified in the amplified version because it says this. "Stop allowing yourself to be agitated, and disturbed." Tell me what you think. And do not permit yourself to be fearful, intimidated, cowardly, and unsettled. Wow. >> So, what he's saying in scripture is when we are faced with troubles, when we are faced with storms, when we are faced with the unthinkables, he says, "Listen, you're going to have to take a minute where you don't allow yourself to be agitated and disturbed. You do not permit yourself, which means we have the opportunity to allow ourselves, and he says, you don't allow yourself to be fearful, intimidated, cowardly, or unsettled." You see, troubled is an interesting word in the Greek because troubled means that it it depicts a picture of something that is held on to and when the shaking happens, you actually it shakes back and forth and back and forth that when the shaking ends, you end up dropping the very thing you were holding on to. And this is what's important. You see, the Bible says that we are all going to face storms. The Bible says it rains on the just and the unjust. >> So, it's not as personal as we may think. We are all going to face storms. Whether the storms of our our making or the storms of somebody else, but we all going to face storms. But he says the vulnerability of the storm is not that you won't make it through this storm. The vulnerability is that what you once held on to, you will have the vulnerability to be so shook that you'll let go of the thing that you once held on to very tightly. >> You see, in a storm, we can say, "God is for me. Who can be against me?" But in a storm, we start wondering if everyone's against us. >> In a storm, we might go, you know, God's God's the author and the finisher of my faith. And in the middle of a storm, going, you know, you're the author of confusion, God. In the middle of the storm, we could say, you know, if God is for me, who can be against me? And we start thinking like, everybody's against me. All of a sudden, we start to take that one thing, God, you promised me that you were you were going to help me. You were going to protect me. You were going to cover me. And then in the middle, we start believing like, did you are you will you? And the vulnerability is not that we go through storms because the Bible says we will go through storms, but it's that it's that part of us that could actually let go of the very thing that could sustain us. >> So good. >> You see, I don't think people lose their faith when they're on the shore drinking pit coladas. I think they lose their faith when they're in a storm. When life is so shook them, they wonder, "Is this even real? Is this really what's going to be? Am I going to make it?" And I want you to know absolutely you're going to make it because if God said it, it's as good as done. And God does not forget his promises. He does not mess around with what he said. He doesn't forget it. He doesn't wonder if he messed it up. No. No. He said, "If I said it, it's as good as done. And if you're in a storm, you will make it because my word does not pass away. It does not fall away. You will make it because I am the God not just at the shore cheering you on. I'm the God smack dab in the middle of the storm, >> facing you, helping you, enabling you to do what I've called you. So, why is that important? It's important because when we look at Matthew chapter 14, I want us to look at this story for a minute, and I love this story. We've probably read it often in our lives, but I want to see it possibly through a new lens. Matthew chapter 14 is a moment where Jesus does something that we maybe didn't see coming. But verse 22- 27, it says, "Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountain side by himself to pray." Later that night, he was there alone, and the boat was already considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Shortly before dawn, verse 25, Jesus went out to them walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were afraid. They cried out, "It's a ghost." And they cried in fear. Let's take you here for just a minute. Jesus just got done feeding thousands of people. Miraculous moment. And then he gets news that his cousin, his friend, one that championed him, was killed. And Jesus gets this news and the first thing he does is he goes, "I got to go talk to my father." How many of you are grateful that Jesus being fully God and fully man needed to go away when something happened? He needed to go talk to his father. I'm grateful that they left that in. that he didn't just go to the stage and go do these things, but he actually took some time to say, "You know what? I got to get with God and ask him some questions." That's good healthy grief is to go away and say, "Okay, let's talk about this." Another thing that he did is he sent them away and he had the conversation with his father and the disciples get into the boat and as they get far from the shore, the Bible says they begin to face a storm. Now, I'm going to lead you through a couple questions that I want you to answer. First question is this. Who invited the disciples in to the storm? >> Jesus. Jesus invited the disciples in to the storm. So I would like to suggest that our theology has been a little broken because our theology has been that if you're going through a storm, you miss something. If you're facing hardship, there must have been something you did, something you said, something we don't know about because you're in a storm. And clearly God is not in the storm. He's on the shore. And what we find here is that often times when we obey God, often, not always, but often there are points when our faith is challenged. Things get harder when they before they get easier. >> Come on. >> The Bible doesn't say, "Oh, broad is the way that people love God. God's going to be so broad and beautiful and we're all going to be singing down this beautiful path. No, it says narrow is the way. >> It means that there's a reality, a cost, and a price to us following Jesus to saying yes to what he's asking us to do. That is not easy. It is not convenient. It is not great. >> It is right. It's holy. It's it's got the fruit of what we want, which is an abundant life. But it is not always easy. >> And what we find here is that Jesus invites them into the storm. And now these men are fighting for their lives. Now this is very important context. These men are not just disciples. Some of them are vocational fishermen. >> So follow me for a minute. This is important. That means they know all about the sea. They know all about the lake, the water, the storms. there because if you go into like research, you'll find out that these disciples were part of a full vocational family system of fishermen, which meant their grandfathers were fishermen, their uncles were fishermen, their brothers are fishermen. These were the kids that when they went to school, they smelled like fish. >> Okay? So, when they face this storm, it's not like, "Oh my gosh, I thought we were just going to catch some fish on a nice Sunday afternoon." No, no. These guys are like, "Bring it. Let's go. We do this all the time." And as they're in this storm, they start to beat this storm and they start to try to live through this storm. And then it says they start to think they're going to die. >> They're going to give up. Now, why would these men be so distraught? Well, if you do your research, you'll find out that theologians believe this storm was 9 hours long. Nine hours. So, these men have been fighting this battle for nine hours long. Now, why is that important? Because when Jesus comes walking to them, they have tried all their resources. Have you know what I'm talking about? When you're in a storm, you've called everybody. You've yelled at everybody. You've done the best, you know, you've done the spreadsheets. You you've you've you've made you've declared things. I mean, storms are wild. I mean, when you're in a storm, it's like every man for himself. I don't know if you've ever been this way. Like, like, it's like, do your best. I'll do my best. Hope you make it. See you at the end. Like, storms are, you know what I'm saying? Like, you're either for me or against me. Decide quickly now. Let's go. Right. Okay. that's just me. But in my storm, that's how I face it. And so when these men are battling, they're trying everything and they're probably blaming and you said you were going to do this and you didn't bring snacks and where's the life fest and I'm sure there's all kinds of chaos going on. And then now they're like done. They think they're going to die. And Jesus comes walking out on the water and the first thought they have is not Jesus the one that fed the thousand son of God walking. They're like it's a ghost which tells you how delusional these like they are done. They're like it's got to be you know a ghost. what is happening here? Like that's a wild thought that that's how crazy these guys got was like let's just let's go with ghost was alien or ghost. What should we say? Let's do ghost to ghost. And then it says that Jesus in verse 27 but Jesus immediately said to them take courage. It is I. Do not be afraid. Take courage. It is I. Do not be afraid. Then Peter replied, Lord, if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water. And God says, come. And Peter got out of the boat, walked in the water, and came toward Jesus. And when he saw the wind, he was afraid and began to sink, crying out, "Lord, save me. Lord, save me." You see, this is really important. Why would Jesus invite them into a storm and meet them in the middle of a storm? I would suggest that the God of the shore feels very different than the God of the storm. >> You see, it's always easy to say, "God is for you." When you're on the beach applying your second layer of suntan, God is for me. Who can be against me? Can you can I You know, let's order our derves. It's way different when you're fighting for your life. It's way different when you're in the middle and you go, "Why?" And God goes, "I'm right here. I'm right here. I'm right here. I'm right here." And we're like, "Wait, I'm just I'm just disoriented. I don't know what's I'm right here." And often we start to go, "Well, why would he do that?" Because I believe there is a powerful reality that if we only see God as the God of the shore, we'll never know him in the reality of who he is, which is the God of the storm, the God who wants to rescue us when not just we do the right things, but we do the wrong things. When we when we don't know what to do, and we should know what to do because we've been in God long enough to know what to do. And then he goes, "I know you're confused. Come here. I'm right here in the middle of it." See, God of the storm is the God that says, "I'm not judging you on why you're in the storm. I'm not trying to say, well, you know, let me just let you live out there for a couple hours and see if you cry and bail and then I'll come." No. No. He knew what he was doing. He was going to prove to them that when they were out of resources, when their mind could not comprehend how he was going to do it, when they didn't have another phone call and another person to blame and another way to figure it out, and they went, "That's it. We don't know what to He goes, "Finally, >> I'm right here, baby. Right here." And Peter goes, "Okay, if it's you, tell me to go out of the boat." Now, when I read this, I'm like, "Peter's an idiot." First thought, but when I really look at it, I'm like, "This dude is brave." >> Like, so many people want to judge Peter like tried to get out of the boat. Did you see we were like wobbling? It was so awkward. So much ick. Wow. You know, people will judge us. They'll judge even our movement of like, "Oh, well, how could you do that?" I mean, I can't believe, and I'm like, it's so easy to judge when you're in a boat >> that it is to say, you know what? Could we actually do what God asks us to do? Could we pray for the sick? Could we actually believe that the voice of God, if his sheep hear his voice, could I actually be his sheep and him my shepherd and I could hear his voice today, not just for me, but for others. Could we believe that? >> Could we believe that maybe God knows what he's doing and that we actually are willing to take risks. See, that's what I love about this house. I've been coming to this house since I was 19 years old and I was a church kid, which means I was very cynical. You want to meet the most cynical person? Meet a church kid because they've been living on the front row. They are in the green rooms. They know what's going on. And praise God, I had a godly father and mother who did not live double lives. They lived pure lives and they were honest about their weaknesses and they never hid it from me. Which went made me go, well, if that's God, I'm in. >> Some of Some of us think we have to hide our flaws. But the truth is, when we actually reveal our flaws, people trust you. >> They go, you too. Me, too. Good. and I'm glad we have a savior. >> And what happened for me is I began to I I think at Bethl I began to see like, you know, we're we're a risk-taking people. >> But I came here because I had been in very environments that were very perfected. But there was no risk. There was just, you know, we just kind of keep it clean and do the right thing. And I love that. But there was something about what God was doing here. We did not initiate. He initiated. >> We did not go looking. And I you got to go in our history books to know we did not set out to be a global movement. >> That's right. >> I promise you that. Or we would have done it a lot differently. >> We we we actually set out and I remember this with Bill and and Chris. I remember we did the next right thing >> when God said do this. We took a risk. Get out of the boat. We'll get out of the boat. Well, people think we're crazy. Well, I'd rather walk on water toward Jesus than sit in a boat and look great. And thi this is important because everybody wants to judge the risk taker >> but if we don't risk and this is the disciples everybody would have wanted to judge the disciples I'm not saying that we were doing with disciples please don't you know don't get all confused but I'm trying to say is this if we take risks the first thing we do if we don't do it right or the way we wanted to do it or we wanted whatever the the motive was the motive was right that the the it didn't work then everyone wants to go don't take risks And I'm like, I'm so sorry. I I actually serve a risk-taking God. >> I have a God that actually I believe the Bible is real and that there's a man between the pages that has a message that we all are empowered to believe. I believe and and as somebody who has operated in the prophetic for over 30 years, I do not believe the prophetic is broken. >> Come on. >> I and I'll say this clearly, please hear me. I think I think that every gift of God has broken men and women >> that often should not be utilizing the gift because it ends up hurting people. But to throw out the gift because of the broken human would be a disservice to what God has called us to do. That would be like saying your dad is a bad dad. He's wrong. He's abusive. So no one should be a dad. Dads can't be trusted. Dads are evil. Your dad was bad. My dad was bad. Yep. We agree that would be a disservice to what the purity of what it could be is available to us. >> You see, I believe that not only are we allowed to name something as bad, that was bad, that was wrong there, it's very important we do that. But it's also important to say and we're going to get it right and we're going to get it right over and over and over because to throw out all of this for the next generation that says, "Oh, you don't get to see us. We don't we don't take risks anymore. We don't pray for the sick like that. We don't prophesy like that. We did. It was wild. But then there was a video and he just got really crazy and >> I am not interested in dumbing down >> what God has called us to do. >> I'm interested in carrying it with integrity and beauty and power and doing the next right thing. People will say, "Well, where are you going?" And I'm like, the flag is there. God is there. He's leading us. I'm not confused on where God is leading us. But my job is not to tell you where I'm going. My job is to do the next right thing that is in front of me. To honor it with integrity, to be honest, to mourn with those who mourn. >> But to save it for the next generation, >> because I want our kids to have the reality that God is with us. >> He is available and with us. And now you got me preaching a message I wasn't preaching. So, let's keep going. So what's very important is this. The moment he says I'm sinking, the spirit Jesus grabs him and says, "It's okay. I got you." And see, this is very important. The wind, when did the wind show up in the story. The wind did not show up when Peter saw the wind. In fact, if you go back into the beginning, you'll find that the wind was talked about. And if you look at it, it says uh all the way back in verse 24, it says, "And the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves, because the wind was against it." >> This is important. Follow me on this for a second. If God told him and the disciples to go on a boat, it said that the moment they were in the water, they were being resisted. There was resistance because it says the wind was against them which meant that any minute they decided that they didn't want to face obstacles or resistance or criticism they could actually turn the boat and get to shore very quickly. >> But the part that you have to understand is that that resistance was part of following God. Some of us think we're doing it wrong because we're facing resistance. No. Welcome to being a follower of Jesus Christ. This is important because we we really we think that we're do like this must not be working. What's happening? It's like someone saying gosh my marriage this is like this is like work. >> Yeah. Welcome to being married. I always said the Bible said the two shall become one. I thought it would be me. I thought it would be a very easy choice. Resistance in our faith walk is not a sign we're doing something wrong. It's often a sign we're doing something right. >> But when we face a storm, this is important. The resistance ends up kind of clouding our judgment in what God said. So all of the sudden God said, "Get in a boat. Get out there. Listen, I got you." And all of a sudden, we've got resistance. That's everyday life. We're kind of living in resistance. And then all of the sudden we get into a place where it's getting really, really crazy. Jesus walks up to us and then we look at the wind and waves and we're like, "This is wild." And Jesus is like, "It's been here all along, guys. >> This resistance has been here all along." It's just the problem is is when you take a risk, it feels way more risky than it really is. Like this is wild. >> So why why does this matter, Aval? Why are we talking about this? Because all of us are going to face storms. Very normal. If you don't face storms, like I said, we were happy to lay hands on you. We all face storms. I'm teasing. The vulnerability is, and where I've seen my friends and family lose their faith, where I've seen people walk away from what once was true and shook to the point where they let go of what they once had was because the storm made its way inside of them. And they begin to believe that God could not save them from the storm that was happening around them. They begin to believe what the earth what everyone was saying, the wind and the waves and all that. And they let go of the thing that would have kept them in the middle of their faith. So why is that important? Let's look at one more passage. I'm sorry. Let me just finish this verse 27. But Jesus immediately said, "Take courage. It is I. Do not be afraid." Peter said, "Lord, if it's you, tell me to walk on the water." He does. And Jesus saves him. I know I already said that, but somebody need to hear it again. So, let's look at Isaiah 26:3. Isaiah 26:3. This is one of my favorite verses, and I I hope that you'll find hope in this. Some of you might be distracted by me talking about a storm. Maybe not. I want you to be I want to be clear. There are different types of storms. This is a storm where Jesus invited them into the storm. We got a guy named Jonah where he did not obey God and God sent a storm. The point is no matter how you got to this storm is not going to be the way you get out of the storm. The storm is going to be there's going to be storms and you're going to create them and you're going to actually be a part of them whether it's your choice or not. But the point is, how do we stay steady in the middle of it to find our peace in the middle of the storm? So Isaiah 26:3 says this, "You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you." You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you. Now, what does this mean? And I want to take us into the Hebrew for just a minute so we can really identify what this is saying because this has brought me so much hope especially this week in the last two weeks. Like this has really been important. It says you will keep him in perfect peace. That word perfect in Hebrew is the word shalom. Everybody say shalom. >> Shalom. >> Shalom is obviously in Jewish culture it's a greeting. It means peace. Peace to you. They say it when you when you greet each other when you leave. But shalom is about peace. It's a it's a it's a full peace. It's a it's a it's a spiritual peace. And then it says you will keep him in shalom. And then it says peace. It says perfect peace. And follow me on this. Those two words in the Hebrew is shalom. Shalom. So the author repeats himself. Why does the author repeat himself? You will keep him in perfect shalom. Shalom. Perfect peace. I would suggest this that the author's repetition communicates intensity. >> It isn't just a one-time shalom. It's a shalom shalom. It's repetitive. It's consistent. It's it intensifies. It's what you need. In fact, the way that when I started studying this, the way that I could as I as I went into it, it's hard to kind of communicate what I was really learning and researching was when I first had our son Judah, one of the first things that happened when they brought Judah to me is he started to cry. And so at that point, I smacked him and I was like, "Listen, dude. No, I'm kidding. I didn't. I'm teasing you guys." Like, "Just kidding." Okay, let's keep going. So, one of the first things I did is I held him and I went How many of you have ever done that with a baby or a spouse? Okay. So, as I held him, I'm Now, it's interesting. I never had a lesson. No one was like, "We're going to have week 14 is going to be about shushing. Let's do this again." Nope. Sh. like there's no lesson. There's another way that I had used the shush which in my life went like this sh. >> How many of you ever used the word sh? >> Right? How many of you? Right. So when I look at this, the only way that I can help to identify what scripture is saying is he doesn't say I will keep you in sh grab that peace. >> No, it's not a shushing. It's not like I thought you were a woman or a man of God. So would you find peace? It was actually this beautiful intensified soothing powerful peace that he goes give it to me and let me sh you into peace. But what about sh but what but they sh but what sh but the flag is sh and all of a sudden the spirit of God takes what we cannot do on our own. >> And he goes I'm not just shushing you. I'm not saying get some peace. Get it together. He's saying come here. I'm going to grab your heart. I'm going to grab your mind. I'm going to grab your emotions. I'm going to grab everything that's going on. chaos, the storm around you, and I'm gonna pull it in toward me and I'm gonna start to soothe you. Sh. I got that. But what about I don't sh I've been God for a long time. I'm really good at it. >> So good. >> I wonder how many of us think that God's shushing us when really wants he wants to do is pull us in his arms and say, "I got you." >> And so what makes us so powerful is the second part. It said, "Whose mind is stayed on you." In the Hebrew, that word stayed means to be propped up, held up as if it if you didn't have it, it would fall apart like this podium. So, it says, "Whose mind my thoughts, the things I'm thinking about, the things I'm dwelling on, the things I'm meditating on, I'm going to take those and I'm going to set them on him." >> Now, I don't know about you, but setting my thoughts isn't this really beautiful thing. Sometimes it is, but most often it's me in the car saying, "I trust you, God. I believe you. No, that's from the pit of hell. Nope. We're not going to play out every catastrophic thought on my brain. Thank you, enemy. >> You see, there's something really powerful about setting our thoughts. I remember when our boys were little, I found myself saying to them, I am the boss of you. I had four kids under the age of five, and so I was just doing all I could. So, I say, I'm the boss of you. And pretty soon my husband goes, he goes, "Honey, I think they know." And I said, "I'm not saying it for them. I'm saying it for me. I have to be reminded that I'm in charge cuz I quickly forget that these kids aren't in charge. It's overwhelming. If they knew how in charge they were, it would be a prison break. It would be insane. you will shalom me into peace over and over >> in the middle of the storm. But also, I'm going to set my thoughts, my mind, my attention, my affection on the things that can hold me up. >> Earthly things will fade away. I am not building my concepts, my theology, my beliefs on things that will not withstain what God I mean listen, we can build our house on sand or we can build on a rock. >> How do we know what we've built it on? Storms. >> That's right. >> Come on, guys. People go, "Well, you know, I I believe God can really because in your middle of the storm, I haven't seen you." >> Wow. >> In the middle of the storm. I mean, again, I don't I don't judge it. I'm like, "This is how my own heart operates." I start to back up slowly. You see, this is how we know we were built on a rock. Our environment here, Bethl, beautiful house. I've sat here for 30 years. I've been in private rooms for the last four years. And I can honestly say I have not watched one ounce of integrity lost in that in that room. I have watched our leaders do their work over and over to bring integrity, authenticity, and and and honor what God has given us through and through. And I can also say as a church kid of 20 years of sitting in churches like this, my dad was an evangelist. So, eight months out of the year, we were on the road. We were in conservative churches, charismatic churches, missions movements. Then he went to pastor a church for 20 years. I sat in that room. Now, as a pastor myself and a leader that gets to travel around the globe, I have to be honest. Two Sundays ago, I watched our pastors stand on a stage in the middle of a storm. And they did what I had never seen men do before >> on a global stage. >> Have the courage, humility, and integrity to say, "We were wrong, and we're going to get this right. And that was very, very powerful. That's right. It's a big deal. Why is that a big deal? It's not how the man operates in the sunshine. It is how the man operates in the storm. Do we really see what the man is made of? >> And you might sit there and think, you know, well, I would have. Listen, it is easy to throw thoughts out on the shore. >> It is very different to be smacked up in the middle of the storm and go, "God, you got to help us. Help us. Help us. Help us." And what I saw and witnessed personally was humility and honor of what God was doing in our environment. And I have to bring notice to that because I think it's important that we recognize that. It is important that if this is your church that you recognize that you have leaders that are that integrous and that humble and that honest that they would do something like that. When they got it wrong, they made it right. And that deserves honor and respect. Amen. >> That deserves respect for these men. That's right. That's right. That's right. That's right. That's right. That's right. That's right. >> Full stop. >> Why does that matter? It matters because it is not you are not the Christian that you are on the shore only. You are the Jesus follower in the storm. >> And what you do in the storm will matter significantly to your legacy, to your future, and to the woman or man that you're called to be. So when we get into a storm, he will keep us in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on him because he trusts in you. God is the God of the storm. God is the God who is looking at us in the middle of this storm right now. Whether it's a marital storm you have or whether it's a financial storm or whether it's a storm in the Christian church, I don't know, political storm, whatever storm you're in right now, I want to remind you something and I have to because I love you so much. Get your eyes up. He's right there with you. Jesus is looking at you and he's saying the safest place you can look at is my face, my eyes, what I am doing. I have not changed. I am the same yesterday, today, and forever. What I also know is this. When we're in storms, we try to solve massive problems and make sweeping statements and wipe things out. And I don't believe that's our call. We don't throw out a marriage because we're in a hard season. Yes, >> we don't throw out. We don't quit our job when we don't like what our employees doing. What we do is we decide fully powerful, Lord, what is the next right thing for me to do in this moment? And we honor it and we steward it and we serve God through it. Does that make sense? >> So, as we are in this storm together and we will listen, we're going to be on the shore at times and and what's going to do for us corporately >> is we're going to find our brothers and sisters in storms and we're going to look in the face and say, "You can make it. We're not going to sit on the shore and go, "Well, I would." We're going to go, "Listen, I got your number. I'm You're going to make this. We got you. We got you." >> And there's something very powerful about being that kind of friend, that kind of community that doesn't shy away from hard moments, but says, "You're going through this. I'm finding you. I'm getting your number." And this week, and last couple weeks, I've had phone calls from unique individuals that have breathed hope and life into me saying, "You're not going to die here. You're not going to give up here. God's got a call. We're fighting for you." I've also had people that have never reached out that I thought would and I was surprised by that. But then I realized I often don't reach out when someone's in crisis because I don't know what to do. And so I don't know what I don't want to say. I make make a statement either way. And I learned something this season that it's better to reach out and say I love you. I may not agree with you, but I love you and I'm with you and you're going to make it rather than to be quiet in the middle of a storm. And so wherever you are, I hope we learn that collectively as a community, as a global community, there are many nations following. There are leaders from all over the globe that we love. They're our family, our community. And we are going to continue to what God has called us to. And I I want to say this very importantly. We are not changing the subject. >> This is important. We are not changing the subject. The storm does not dictate our next move. Yeah, >> it dictates our focus. It reveals who we are trusting in. It reveals what who we are looking at. But we are not changing the subject. We are going to be a powerful prophetic revival center in which the globe can come in and they can worship their brains out and they can hear God speak to them in ways they've never heard. And we can encounter the presence and the glory of God because that's all we want. And we can bring our kids and our grandkids into an environment like this. And we're going to elevate the word above all. And we're going to elevate the spirit of God and the presence of God above all. And we're going to have a beautiful mix of spirit and truth. But we are going to and will not stop being risktakers. >> Look at me. We are not I am we are not changing the subject. >> We are not going to stop when we lose somebody from sickness. We are not going to stop praying for healing. >> Come on. We're going to contend until the end. We're going to we're going to we're not going to throw out prophecy because well, you know, anybody could. No. Stop. Prophecy has changed my life. >> When I was 15, I sat in a room just like this and the pastor went by and he said, "You stand up." And I stood up at 15 and he said, "You are going to travel the world. You're going to preach. You're going to write books and you're going to and God's going to use your life." And I sat down and my very first thought was, "I can't do that. I'm dyslexic. I have reading comprehension issues. I can't even read. There's no way God could use my life." And the pastor began to preach and then all of a sudden he walked by and he and he goes, "Hey, don't tell God what he can't do." And I went, "I love you, God. You're amazing. You can do all things." That changed my life. >> There wasn't any way he knew that. He has He had no idea I would be here today. There wasn't anybody rooting for me. I didn't immediately get a brain. I was still that yellow brick road. All that stuff was happening. I still can't spell decision. And it wasn't like instantly all of a sudden. If you were in my inner life, you would know there is a God. >> Very clearly. I've written 15 books and you would know there is a God. But here's what's important. I will not allow one person or a couple people's flaws to take out the purity of what God is doing in and through us. I will not allow someone who had a bad and and and let me tell you was hurt and we will do the due diligence and we have to repent make it right. That that is a full stop. There's nothing removed from that. But here's the point. We will not allow the wound to dictate the move. >> And the move is is it will humble us. It will remind us. But at 19 when I sat here with pink carpet and flags and all you guys know, all the old people know like we were it was it was we had bleachers in the back. It was wild. Like you guys, we had lions on flat. You guys remember the lions? Okay, so we're not changing the subject. We are going to be risktakers. We're going to bring in people that are risktakers. We're going to get it right. We're gonna probably do it wrong at times and we're going to admit it, but we're going to do the right thing as much as we know how. >> And we're going to go after the prophetic. We're going to go after healing. We're going to go after the open heavens. We're going to we're going to go after the nations. We're going to go after revival. We are not changing the subject. So, the storm we are in. We acknowledge it. We are looking for your face, Jesus. But the storm is not getting in us and it's not changing our mandate, which is very clear. And I cannot wait to go after it. And even in two weeks from now, we will be going after the prophetic conference. And guess what? It's gonna be incredible. It's a soldout event. It's a soldout event. You guys might be worried about us. Don't worry. God's not worried. It people are coming from all over. And guess what? We are going to go after the same thing because we are not changing the subject. And we are not we are not hiding what God gave us for fear. >> Come on. Because what the enemy counterfeits is really what has the most value. >> Does that make sense? >> All right. I love you guys. Stand with me. Thank you. Love you guys. >> Just put your hand on your heart for just a minute. I know we're slipping out, but I promise Super Bowl starts at 3:30. We're good. You guys, and I got a party at my house, so I win. Okay, this is all going to work. >> Say this with me. God, >> God. >> You're the God of the storm. >> You're the God of the storm. >> If you called me in, >> you will call me out. >> You will call me out. >> God, >> God, >> I ask that you would help me. I ask you >> to not allow the storm >> to not allow the storm >> to get inside of me >> to get inside of me >> to not change the subject >> to not change the subject >> to not alter your promise >> to not alter your promise >> that the shaking I have gone through >> the shaking I have gone through >> will not let me >> not let me >> let go of the thing you gave me >> let go >> protect my heart >> protect my heart >> shalom shalom >> shalom >> speak it over me today >> speak it over me So, Holy Spirit, I just ask right now, Lord, I declare over every man and woman here and watching, I declare that God is giving you shalom, shalom, perfect peace as your mind is stayed on him because you trust in him. I declare that what the enemy meant for evil, he will bring it around for good. I thank you, God, that anything that has value is worth fighting for, and anything that has value is always counterfeited. And we declare we pray for the purity of the word and the mission and the movement and what you are doing in and through us to be our highest mandate that we would not have to figure it all out but we would do the next right thing in obedience to you in Jesus mighty name. And everybody said >> amen and amen. Jason >> just real quick just stay with me real quick. Uh if you could just hold your seats really quick. There's some some people in in this room that you may be in the middle of a storm and you don't you don't have a savior. You don't know the savior. And and honestly, that's the worst storm to be in is your life your life's in a really painful place. And we've all been in lots of storms. I went through a nervous breakdown in 2009. Lost use of my arms. Been through a divorce in my life. I've been stuck in addiction before. Those are all really, really terrible storms. But if you don't have a savior, then you're stuck in a storm all alone. And Jesus came to save you from that storm, from that type of storm. Right? He came to give you hope. And if you don't have hope and you're stuck in that type of storm, and you want a savior to come help you out of it, someone that will never leave you, never forsake you, turn everything around for for the good. If you're in that spot, I just want you to raise your hand. We want to just lead you to Christ. We want to uh welcome you into the body of Christ into a place where we're not perfect, but we do have a family that is there for you and to walk with you and to help you live a life of of strength and peace and wholeness. And so, if that if that's you, if there's anybody in this room that doesn't know God or even online, if you're if you're online and you're watching this, you're going, "Man, I'm in the middle of a storm and I actually don't know a savior. I've never met a savior that can help me out of it." Jesus is the savior. He's the way. He's the one that's come to rescue out of that storm. So, I don't see anybody any hands here. If you if you're just like, man, I don't want to raise my hand, but I I do want that. Feel free to come up to the front. We'll have our prayer ministry ministry team come. If I can have the prayer ministry team come up to the front, uh bring your belongings with you. We want to pray for you. If you're in the middle of a storm and you're saved and you haven't seen the Savior in a while, you're like, "Where is he? My head's underwater." We want to pray for you, too. I have been there before. If you've been there before, would you raise your hand? Yeah, I'm saved, but I'm must be barely saved cuz I can't see that savior. We want to pray for you, too. Um, otherwise, have an incredible, blessed week. We will see you guys next week. >> What a word. What a word from Havala. Uh, you've already been saying it in the chat. We've been watching um you guys and and uh Kath on our Bethl online platform, she said, "Oh, I needed that mama talk today." Uh regardless of your age, we just got mommed in the most beautiful powerful way. Uh and I declare over you as Havala has shalom. Shalom. Perfect peace. Um as you keep your mind stayed on him. Uh we we just we want to make sure uh I know that uh Jay got up and he ministered the the message of the gospel really beautifully. But if you are uh new to us or new to the Lord and you realize I need a savior in the storms of life that I'm walking out, I want to be able to recognize my Lord walking in. Uh I would love for you to put it in the chat. Just I receive Jesus. uh we have a link that the moderators can put uh make available to you um where we would love to get information and help you walk out your disciplehip. But if that's you uh Victoria, I see you Victoria from Brazil. I receive Jesus. Um and so just a few more I'll give a few more moments for those who would like to receive Christ for the first time. We want to honor what God is doing through this message >> and to pray with you. I think what I loved about the reading of the word today is we're going back to a story where they had relationship with Jesus. You know, they're walking with him, if you're in the midst of it, without him, >> what is the hope in the midst of what feels really hard and what feels really impossible? And so I'm like, "Oh God, thank you that we have you. Thank you that you're our Lord and Savior. Thank you that you rescue, but you also walk with us in the midst of us." Yes. In the midst of anything that's going on. And if that's something you're like, Jesus, I I don't know that kind of covering. I don't know that kind of saving. I don't know what that even looks like. Our team would love to pray for me for you. I know uh Eddie, I see another on um YouTube who's receiving that now. Oh Jesus, we just thank you, God, that you're bringing people into um relationship with you. And and Jamila, why don't you just pray with some of our um >> Eddie uh and anyone else receiving the Lord for the first time, just repeat after me. Jesus, I receive you today. Thank you for healing me. Thank you for redeeming me. Thank you for reclaiming me. Thank you for giving me access to the father. You are my lord. You are my savior. And I give my life to you today. I honor you as my uh my master. I submit my life to your leadership and I thank you for loving me. And if that's you, if you just said that prayer, you it's there's the the the the true gift or power of that prayer was found in your heart, your faith. The Bible says that if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart, then you shall be saved. Meaning that you have eternal life now in Christ. And you've been uh unlocking in this in this prayer unlocking a pathway into the true reason you were born, which is to honor God and represent him in the earth. And we would love to walk with you through that. Our moderators are going to put some information in the chat that you can click on where we will uh uh give to you information about our disciplehip class online and we would love to be able to walk you through this new uh this new decision that you've made for the Lord today. It is such a gift uh to be able to welcome you in as new brothers and sisters in Christ. Wow. >> Come on. >> Thanks, God. >> It's so good, guys. Um if that's you and you're responding, whether you respond later, our team would just love to pray for you, just to welcome you in. Um I'm also seeing people just uh sharing some beautiful things in the chat, but also some people who just need covering and who need prayer. And so, some of um our folks are asking for prayer. um people who are are pregnant and just wanting to, you know, Britney, we see you just um that your your baby would continue to grow and be healthy. And we just say yes and amen, God. We just thank you for life and life abundantly, God, that this is what you paid for, Jesus. And that we would just see um full-term pregnancies, God, that people who um have been struggling, God, that there would just be such um a renewed hope, God, and a continuation of the growth of of what's already happening in in you. And so we just cover you, Britney. Um when we were in um worship earlier, I saw or I felt um sometimes when I get a word of knowledge, I'll actually feel pain in my own body and and oftentimes that's the Lord showing me like Cassie, I actually want to heal somebody. And I felt there was somebody who had lower back pain. And this is kind of awkward. I'm in a chair, but it's like lower left side. Um if it's on the right, that's totally fine, too. But um I felt these um like sciatic pains like uh just shooting pains that would come and go in that lower left side of the back. I forget. There's a name for that and I don't remember. What's that called right there? >> Uh where are you pointing? >> Like right here. >> Is it just lower left side? >> Lower left side. Yeah. >> I thought it was like isn't it called something? Someone's going to post it and they're going to say, "Oh, you mean and then I'll go yes, exactly." Anyways, if that's you and you're experiencing pain in there, I also felt um like tension headaches, you're having issues in um your your um your your head like migraines or tension headaches or something from um I don't know if someone's having like um pressure uh by your um like your temples by your by your eyes. And so if that's you, um I just felt like the Lord was highlighting those things because he wanted to heal you. And so Jesus, we just thank you that you're um the healer, that this is who you are, God. And we just speak in any areas where where people are experiencing pain right now, that they experiencing even a lifting off right now. Um we just speak to those pain levels and say decrease right now in Jesus' name. If that's for you, if that's for um um a family member or a friend, you can text them and say, "Hey, um this word of knowledge was just released. Maybe you could check your body and just let us know whether or not anything changes." You can actually just check it out. Um, many of you are writing sciatica. That's my husband. Sciatica, lower left back quadrant. Probably something like that. Some of you have tension headaches. >> God, we just speak right now just um a peace over their bodies, God. That there would be a shalom, shalom, peace over their bodies. And so if you could just test that for us, if you could just check and see if anything has shifted in either of those areas and and maybe God's been moving in your body and and maybe we didn't call it out, but you can realize or notice that there's something different in your body. God, um we just would love for you to test it out and testify if anything's happening. If it's not, that's okay. We would just continue to bless it. But if it is something uh and it is shifting, go ahead and drop it in the chat. Let us know. We've got team on it. We're also checking it out. I love I want to highlight our team especially on our um Bethl YouTube. You guys Jade um uh Denise are posting prayers and they are also responding to your comments. So just because we're not saying it doesn't mean that we don't have a beautiful team both on the Bethl online and the YouTube channel where they are attentive to your your comments. So Jade and Denise and and Kath on on Bethl online, I just wanted to say thank you for loving our our um online community. So well also there is going to be prayer. If we don't get a chance to mention your specific prayer need, but you still want someone to touch and agree, we do have a link where you'll be able to receive ministry online today uh as soon as the broadcast is done. >> So good. I I see on our uh couple different chats, Eric said, "I felt something off my head. Thank you, Jesus. I saw someone on the YouTube. It's shifting for me. God, we just thank you that you're touching bodies that all around the world. I don't know uh where everybody is. I did see someone from my actual hometown, Hubra Heights, Ohio. And I'm so excited. I'm like, how cool that this is reaching the globe. But no matter where you are, God is able and he can heal you right where you are. And so God, we just thank you for what you're already doing, that you're touching bodies, that you're lifting off pain, God. And we just say, would you increase? Yes. If there's any area where you feel like it's 40% better, 50% better, God, we just say all the way. Yes. That every um every issue of pain, every every ailment, every illness, whatever it is, God, that you would come and that you would touch it, Lord, that you would remove it. >> That you would remove it, God. And we just thank you. Um >> yeah, God, we just thank you for the miracles that are happening even as we speak, even as people watch it back. I remember um I was teaching um for Chuck Perry, one of his AMTs, and um I had this word of knowledge and this student goes, "My my wife has that." And I go, "You should text her if you feel like you can text her and tell her that this word of knowledge was just released and have her check her body." >> And I'm walking around the room and a little while later, he goes, "My wife was just healed." I was like, "You're kidding." He texted her and and his wife had been healed. And so I saw a couple of you say, "Oh, that's for my dad or that's for my friend." Um I'd encourage you test it out. Ask ask if you you know Yeah. text them, message them, whatever it looks like. Um because we believe that the Lord wants to bring healing. Yes. Ja, anything you want to close with? Anything we can pray over our people? >> I just I just want to pray peace. Father, we thank you for your peace. >> It is an outgrowth of your love for us and we receive it today. We thank you that we don't just hear about it, but we get to walk in it. You said, "Not as the world gives, but but a peace that remains and abides." So I declare over your body, Father, the peace that passes all understanding and that it would stand as a guard over our hearts and minds. We love you, Lord, and we honor you and we receive your peace today. And I just bless you online community with shalom. Shalom. >> Shalom. Shalom. We love you guys.
