The True Purpose of Life ((music playing)) >> I want to say thank you for being my wonderful partner. I really mean that. Thank you for your love and your support. I enjoy coming to you every day teaching you the word of God. You are the best. Our wonderful partners are the best. You know the Lord has given us such precious people. And you're one of them. Thank you so much. And thank you for loving him like you do. And today I want to talk again about guarding your heart. How do we guard our hearts? So important. So important. And Lord, open our eyes that we might see your word and understand your word, Lord. And be faithful to you, Lord, every single day. That on that day when we stand before you we will be accepted. And we will be blameless. We will not stand ashamed. But we will stand blameless before you. To you be all the glory and all the honor and praise. Sweetest Jesus, all we want is to please you every day we live and forevermore to give you joy. Amen. Amen. And thank you for being with me, Jackson. Oh, pleasure. Why do we come into this world? Did we come to spend our time to make a living or to find pleasure? Or to satisfy the flesh? No. We're into this world to prepare for one thing and one thing only. When we stand before the Lord, what do we say to him? We prepare for that day. Most people don't think about that. It's appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment, it says in Hebrews. So, every life is precious to the Lord. You are worth more than all all creation. You, I'm talking to you. You are worth more than all creation to the Lord. A soul is more precious to God than all angels and all creation. That's why Jesus came to die for you and shed his blood for you. But God is asking one thing of us. To live for him. To follow him. The Christian life is about trusting the Lord. The Christian life is about yielding to the Lord. Not trying to live for him, just yielding to him. Now, where does it say in the Bible try to live the Christian life? It just says yield. Let him live his life through you. Let him live his life in you. All things were created for his pleasure. God created you and I because we are an act literally, it was love that created us. It his love. God wanted to share his love with us. He He set his heart upon us. This is amazing. Amazing. What amazing love, what amazing grace to save our souls. So, we are in this world preparing our hearts for that day. That's why we're here. We're not here because we need to know family and friends cuz the day will come family will go and friends will go. And the day will will come will we will all be alone even in this life. And then we stand before God alone. Alone. No one will stand there with us to defend us. No one will say, "Let me help you." And tell you what to say to God. No. We will each answer for ourselves. What have you done with your life? That's why I'm talking to you today on guarding your heart and preparing your heart for that day. So, it says guard your heart with all diligence with all diligence. Out of it are the issues of life. The source of life. So, uh Hebrews 9:27, it's appointed unto man once to die and after this the judgment, which I just talked about. And Proverbs 4:23, keep your heart with all diligence. Out of it are the issues of life. And what is God looking for? In this life, he's looking for a perfect heart. He's He's eyes go to and fro. Read that for them again, please, in 2nd Chronicles 16:9, Jackson. God's eyes are going to and fro throughout the whole earth looking for men and women who have a who have a perfect heart that God may show himself strong. For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. >> That's it. So, that message, that's why God put you on this earth. That you might come to that place to have a perfect heart before him. So, on that day you'll stand blameless before him. Blameless before him. And so, this is the mark. This is what we aim for in life. Many are running here and there. Very few are going towards the mark. You know, Paul talks about going towards the mark pleasing Jesus. Forgetting the things that are behind, I press towards the mark. But what is the mark? Living for the Lord. Standing before him perfectly. Pleasing him. Now, I said yesterday something that I want to just expand on just a little bit. How conscience is important. Not to offend your conscience because the heart and the conscience are connected. Connected. So, Paul in Acts 24:16 talks about how he's careful. He doesn't want to offend his conscience. Read that for them, please. And herein do I exercise myself to have always a conscience void of offense toward God and toward man. Now, okay. So, you got to you know, you you you have to to look within. You have to ask yourself, is my life pure? Is my life accepted? Like David said, "Search me, oh Lord. Know my heart today." Now, the Bible, like we we finished yesterday what I was talking about, uh Proverbs 7 verse 2 and 3 that Jackson will read for you. What it says that we are to write God's word on our hearts. And that's how we begin to prepare our hearts for that day. Not by neglecting the word and ignoring the word of God. The word of God is life. And you and you write it on the table of your heart by meditation every single day. So, please go ahead and read that Proverbs 7 verse 2 and 3. It shows you how to begin guarding your heart. What do I do every day? What do you do every day? I do it every day myself. You have to equip yourself with scripture to guard your heart. Otherwise, there's no fuel in you. There's no power in you to resist the devil, to keep the world out, to have a clean conscience, a a a clear heart and a pure heart. Go ahead. Keep my commandments and live. And my law >> know what a beautiful promise. Keep my word and live. What a promise. And and my law as the apple of thine eye. That's incredible. Bind them upon thy fingers. >> See how God wants us to protect his word like we're protecting the apple of your eye. Wow. Write them upon the table of thine heart. Okay, so that that happens by meditation. I want to show you something from Psalm 77 verse 6 that I think is important when it comes to All right. I write the word on my heart. David says, I mean uh uh Solomon tells us, but then it says something amazing uh in Psalm 77:6. Go ahead. I call to remembrance my song in the night. >> So, so imagine David is resting in bed and he's thinking about praising the Lord when he was younger. His song in the night for the Lord. The times of beauty in praise and worship. We've all done that. We all remember the days when you know, the Lord visited our life and how we would sing to him and worship him at night. And then, you know, we continue to do it, but we we remember those high moments. So, he was having one of those moments. Yeah. Okay, go ahead. I call to remembrance my song in the night. >> Yeah. I commune with mine own heart. >> So, he began to commune with his own heart. Yeah. So, he's thinking about that beautiful moment when he was worshiping the Lord. It could have been a week ago or a year ago. And now he begins talking to his own heart. And and my spirit made diligent search. Mhm. He began to search his own heart to say, "Who's gaining ground here? Who's gaining ground?" Yeah. Is God gaining ground or is the world gaining ground? >> It's powerful. Very important. >> Powerful. And I think that's what we need to do every single day. We need to say to ourselves, "Okay, you know, I remember those beautiful days with the Lord when I got saved and you know, when I got filled with the Holy Spirit and when I went to a service somewhere or when this happened and that happened." And he's he begins to commune with his own heart and then he said, "I made a diligent search." Just finish that whole verse. I love that. Read that whole verse again. >> Yeah. I call to remembrance my song in the night. I commune with mine own heart and my spirit made diligent search. Isn't that beautiful? >> Oh, it's so beautiful. >> Okay. So, when we make the diligent search, we're really asking Yeah. in our own heart and our own beautiful way, "Does my heart belong to Jesus? Has he gained more ground in my heart today Yeah. or has the world gained ground in my heart today?" So, we have we we we we we have to to realize um guarding our heart >> [clears throat] >> is uh talks about progress in holiness. We must be very diligent Mhm. with its growth in holiness. And that's what this says. Yeah. I'm I'm so careful. I I made diligent search. Is my heart the Lord's? Has he gained more ground in it? Mhm. Yeah. It's so >> Or or did did the world come in without me knowing and gain ground? All backsliding begins in the heart. So, we have to observe closely every day. Is the world gaining ground or is the Lord gaining ground? And here's how you know. When I read the Bible, is it a pleasure or do I have to force myself? If it's a pleasure to read the Bible, then the Lord is gaining ground. Right. If I have to force myself, the world is gaining ground. This is very important. Or prayer. Is prayer a pleasure? Is it Is it a pleasure for me to spend time with God or do I have to force myself? Mhm. If I force myself, then the world has gained ground in my heart. Meaning I'm not doing a good job at guarding my heart. But if it's a pleasure, ah, the Lord is gaining ground. Yeah. That is what tests our temperature. Mhm. Am I hot or am I cold? That's what tells me where am I? Yeah. Is my heart right or is there something wrong with it? Mhm. Now, if I have to force myself to read the Bible. If I have to force myself to pray, then I better stop and get on my knees and repent and ask God right there and then to take my heart and to control my life. Yeah. This is the time to say, "Uh-uh, I'm not going to let the world in anymore. I got to fix it." So, you decide. You you have to decide to commune. This is how you keep the heart in in a in a good place. You commune with the Lord frequently. Continually. And and you dwell upon his loveliness all the time. You think about how wonderful he is, how precious he is. And you stay in the sunshine of his presence. You don't leave that. And when you do that, you'll refresh your own soul. You'll get all the pollution out. Yeah. So, when I commune with the Lord and I continue communing with the Lord, when I dwell upon his loveliness, Miss Nellie S. Drying wrote a book about What's My All for Him. You know, it was one of my favorite books to ever read. It was the first book I ever read. And she said, "You reach the the place where you call him precious names." And she said, "This is This is when you know you're dwelling on his loveliness." Oh. Lovely Jesus. Precious Jesus. Because it >> comes out of your mouth. That's so beautiful. Sweet darling Jesus. How I love you. Cuz it's it takes hold of your emotions. Yeah. When you say that, see, now you're like that. That's why we all we all love you. He cries with me, Jesus. Ah. >> [laughter] >> He cries. He loves the Lord so much. And Lucas is like him, but he cries more than Lucas. But it's just it's one It's wonderful to watch these these two young men who love the Lord so much. And others like them, but it's really amazing. But the thing is, we when we commune with him, when when we dwell upon his loveliness and tell him how precious he is, how holy he is, how wonderful he is, his love will fill our soul and we tell him most precious names come out of our lips for him, you know. >> Yeah. And then we we we dwell in the sunshine of his presence. Your soul is refreshed. Yeah. And so it says in Proverbs 13:4, verse 4 it says, "The soul of the diligent will be made fat." God will bless you. All right. Now, uh the heart, like I said, I think yesterday, is your whole being. 1 Peter 3:4 calls it the the hidden man. So, guarding your heart, guarding my heart is my assignment, my my duty for the rest of our lives. Like I said, the duty is yours, but God enables you. So, you say, "Lord, yes." Now, when you say, "I'll do it," God will enable you to do it. All right. Now, let me let me give you that list I told you about yesterday. Keep your imagination free. If you really want to have a good pure heart and guard it. Guard it from the world. Keep your imagination free from vanity. Anything vain, get it out. Make sure your understanding is free from error. So, your imagination must be free from vanity. Your understanding free from error. Number three. Make sure your will is free from anything perverse. Don't let anything perverse to control your will. Make sure your will is free from that. Freedom in your will from perverseness. Make sure your conscience is free from guilt. Cuz it's very hard to guard your heart if you're always guilty before God. If you can't accept his love and forgiveness. Yeah. And then make sure your affections are free from anything evil. Don't let your affections be set on anything evil. Make sure they're free from that. And make sure your mind is free from anything that is worthless and vile. If you do If you just do this. If you just do this. And now, I'll give you this list again cuz you're writing it probably. I want my my imagination free from vanity. I want my understanding free from error. I'm a I want my will free from anything perverse. I want my conscience clear and free from guilt. I want my affections free from anything evil or being set on anything evil. I want my mind free from anything worthless and vile. And then I'm on the right road to protect my heart. Then I can shut out the world out. So, Colossians says, "Set your affections on things above." Colossians 3:2. Not things on the earth. Things above. So, here's what God says if you want to be accepted on that day. And this is what we live for. We live for being accepted on that day. Psalm 24:3, 4, and 5. And then I'm going to pray with you. Okay. Psalm 24:3, 4, and 5. Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? >> Yeah, who's going to make heaven? Or who shall stand in his holy place? >> Yeah. He that hath clean hands and a pure heart. >> it. He that has clean hands and a pure heart. So, you will be accepted on that day before him. You'll be blameless before him. Who will ascend? Who will stand before the Lord? He He that has clean hands and a pure heart and who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity. Exactly. I just said that earlier. Keep everything vain out of your imagination, out of your life. Who's not lifted up his soul unto vanity also means idol worship. Yeah. And nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Isn't that beautiful? To be looked upon as righteous on that day before the Lord. So, today give the Lord your heart. No matter how cold it is. How dark it is. Give him your heart. In Proverbs 23:26, the Lord wants your heart. Justin will read that for you and I know I know I want to pray with you. That you'll do that today. Give him your heart. Those of you that that are troubled in your heart. Read that for them. My son, give me thine heart and let thine eyes observe my ways. Yeah. Wow. So, the Lord is reaching out to you right now even through this program. And says to you, "Give me your heart. Let me fix it. Let me take care of it." What is the greatest commandment? Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your soul, with all your strength. Well, you can't do that till you give God your heart. There are people watching right now. You you haven't given your life to the Lord yet. Give it to him right now. Just say, "Dear Jesus, I give you my life. I give you my heart, Lord. Forgive my sins, dearest Jesus. Come into my heart today, Lord. Live your life in me today, Lord. Forgive my sins, wonderful Jesus. Live your life through me, Lord. I accept you as my savior and my Lord forever. And I proclaim you as my redeemer and my savior forever. I surrender my life to you. Thank you, wonderful Jesus. Amen. Amen. Now, when you when you begin living this precious life, don't neglect his precious word. Every day feed upon his precious word. Thank you for watching today. Thank you for listening. You know, I'm so thrilled with what the Lord I believe has done already on these two programs as we've been talking about God in your heart. Making sure it's perfect before the Lord. No, he didn't wait too long. It's the right time. That's right. I remember Kathryn Kuhlman saying to the Lord one day. She said, "Lord, why did you wait so long?" He said, "Had I given all this to you when you were young, you would have messed it all up." >> [laughter] >> Maybe that's why God waited with me, too, with Africa, you know? To him be the praise.
